In October, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor had launched the Honor Magic 2 slider design flagship phone powered by the Kirin 980 chipset. At the launch event of the phone, the company had confirmed that there would be another version of the phone called Magic 2 3D Photosensitive Edition. It was also confirmed that this model will be equipped with 3D face unlock and graphene heat dissipation. The Chinese manufacturer has finally announced the model as Honor Magic 2 3D in the home market.

Honor Magic 2 3D Specifications

As mentioned above, the Honor Magic 2 3D is fitted with a 3D structured light camera that makes it possible to bring support for 3D facial scanning. With the advanced biometric recognition feature, the Magic 2 3D can face unlock the phone regardless of the lighting conditions. To keep the internal temperature of the phone, it comes equipped with a graphene-based heatpipe that was first seen on the Huawei Mate 20 Pro phone from last year.

The Kirin 980 chipset of the Honor Magic 2 3D is supported by 8 GB of RAM. The native storage of the smartphone is 512 GB. The rest of the specifications of the smartphone are identical to the Honor Magic 2 smartphone.

Like the original version, the Magic 2 3D is a slider phone. The handset features a 6.39-inch AMOLED display that produces full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The display of the phone is embedded with an in-screen fingerprint reader. The smartphone includes a 3,500mAh battery that is equipped with support for 40W rapid charging.

The slider of the phone features a primary sensor of 16-megapixel with f/2.0 aperture that is assisted by a pair of 2-megapixel depth sensors with f/2.4 apertures. Placed on the rear is a triple camera setup with a 16-megapixel main sensor with f/1.8 aperture, another 16-megapixel sensor with f/2.2 aperture and a monochrome lens of 24-megapixel and f/1.8 aperture. The smartphone lacks support for microSD card slot and 3.5mm audio jack. The Magic UI 2 based Android 9 Pie OS comes preloaded o the device.

Vivo had announced the Vivo V15 Pro at the end of February in India. The handset was introduced with a price tag of Rs. 28,990 (~$415). According to 91mobiles, its weaker sibling named Vivo V15 will be releasing in India on March 15. The handset will be carrying a cheaper price tag of Rs. 22,990 (~$330).

The Vivo V15 was recently announced in Thailand and now it is now speculated to debut in India at the end of the second week of March. Like the Pro model, the V15 is expected to be available for purchase through Amazon India and Flipkart. It will be also available for purchase through offline stores. With a price tag of Rs. 22,990 (~$330), it will be rivaling with the more powerful OPPO F11 Pro. Vivo is yet to release an official statement on the arrival of Vivo V15 in India.

Vivo V15 Specifications

The Vivo V15’s release in Thailand has confirmed the entire specs of the phone. Compared to the V15 Pro, it features a larger display and a bigger battery. However, instead of AMOLED display with in-screen fingerprint reader available on the V15 Pro, the V15 comes with a 6.53-inch LCD full HD+ display and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The V15’s display offers an aspect ratio of 19.5:9 and a screen-to-body ratio of 91.64 percent.

The Helio P70 chipset powers the V15 along with 6 GB of RAM. The native storage of the smartphone is 128 GB. For additional storage, the smartphone comes with a dedicated microSD card slot.

Since the Vivo V15 has a notch-less display, it comes with a pop-out selfie shooter of 32-megapixel. Huawei has silently launched the Huawei P Smart+ 2019 in Europe. Another the phone from the company to hit the European market is the Huawei Y7 2019. The specifications of the smartphone are quite similar to the Huawei Y7 Pro 2019 smartphone that had gone official in December last year. Compared to the Pro variant, the Y7 2019 comes with downgraded front-facing camera.

The Huawei Y7 2019 features a 6.26-inch IPS LCD panel. It produces HD+ resolution of 720 x 1520 pixels. The waterdrop notch design enables the phone to deliver a tall aspect ratio of 19.5:9.

The EMUI 8.2 based Android 8.1 Oreo OS comes loaded on the device. The back panel of the phone features a fingerprint scanner. On the top-left side of the rear panel is an LED enabled vertical dual camera setup. It includes a 13-megapixel main sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. The same dual camera setup is also available on the Y7 Pro 2019. When it comes to shooting selfies, the Y7 2019 offers with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The Y7 Pro 2019 phone is fitted with a higher frontal shooter of 16-megapixel.

Since the beginning of this year, there have been some evidences that hinted that Xiaomi would be soon unveiling the Black Shark 2 gaming phone. Well, the confirmation has surfaced on Weibo. The official launch poster released by the company confirms that the Black Shark 2 will be announced on March 18.

The Black Shark 2 launch poster has no details on the key specs of the phone. The unveil event will be held at Beijing, China on March 18. Recent reports have revealed that the Snapdragon 855 chipset will be present under the hood of the device. The handset may come in two RAM variants such as 8 GB and 12 GB.

The Black Shark 2 smartphone has also bagged 3C certification in the recent. It has been found through its 3C approval that it will carry support for 27W fast charging technology. The recently announced Xiaomi Mi 9 flagship phone is also equipped with the same rapid charging technology. Black Shark had recently confirmed that the phone will be equipped with Liquid Cooling 3.0 technology. Huawei has recently confirmed that it will be launching the Huawei Nova 4e smartphone on March 14 in China. The same smartphone is expected to release as Huawei P30 Lite in European markets. The images of the phone have appeared on TENAA, but its listing is yet to be updated with full specs. The TENAA listing of the Nova 4e may get updated with its entire specifications in the next few days. The key details of the phone have surfaced to confirm information such as display, processor, battery, dimensions, color options and storage variants.

The new leak reveals that the Huawei Nova 4e will be featuring a 6.15-inch TFT LCD display that will offer full HD+ resolution and 415 ppi. The TENAA images of the phone have revealed that the screen will be sporting a waterdrop-style notch. The homebrewed Kirin 710 SoC will be powering the handset. It will be equipped with a 3,340mh battery with fast charging. It will be loaded with EMUI 9.0.1 based Android 9 Pie OS.

Before USB came into existence, computers were equipped with serial and parallel ports to plug devices into the computers and transfer data. Individual ports were used for peripherals such as keyboards, mice, joysticks and printers. Expansion cards and custom drivers were often required to connect the devices. Parallel ports transferred data at approximately 100 kilobytes per second, whereas serial ports ranged from 115 to more than 450 kilobits per second. Some ports could not run simultaneously. That these snags were eradicated with the introduction of the USB technology.

The first USB technology began development in 1994, co-invented by Ajay Bhatt of Intel and the USB-IF (USB Implementers Forum, Inc). The organization is comprised of industry leaders like Intel, Microsoft, Compaq, LSI, Apple and Hewlett-Packard. It supports and adopts comprehensive specifications for all aspects of USB technology. Since the introduction, we have seen the technology grow from USB 2.0 to USB 3.0 with an attendant increase in data transfer speed and other benefits. The USB Promoter Group is now planning to release the USB 4.0. The specification of the next-gen USB technology has just been shared by the group.

According to the details, the new standard is based on Intel’s Thunderbolt protocol and supports a range of features, including data transfer rates of up to 40 Gbps, display interfaces, and power delivery. The new interface is said to still retain the USB Type-C connectors and will maintain backwards compatibility with USB 2.0, USB 3.2, and Thunderbolt 3 interfaces. After several leaks and rumours, Elephone had pulled off the wraps from A6 Mini last week. The new Elephone A6 Mini smartphone packs 5.71 inches drop notch display and carries other impressive specifications. Just a couple of days ago, Elephone revealed its design and User Interface in a video, but many aspects were left behind. Today in an official Introduction video of the A6 Mini, the Chinese smartphone maker has unleashed every aspect of the device.

Elephone A6 Mini is looking majestic in Nebula colour giving us a visual treat from every side. Moreover, talking about the design, Elephone A6 Mini carries a 5.71-inch dew drop display on the front side. We can see its front single 16-megapixel shooter on the front side along with an earphone grill on the top little bezel of the device. The round-edged display is making it look more premium along with overall thin bezels.

Moving further, the video showcases the broader viewing experience with its 19:9 display. On the rear side, its dual camera module is sitting horizontally carrying an LED flash. Thanks to a leaked poster, we know Huawei has a new phone coming soon called the Enjoy 9s. However, it appears the phone is already official outside of China under a different name – Huawei P Smart+ 2019.

The Huawei P Smart+ 2019 is already listed on Huawei’s official website and the specs and images match what we saw on the leaked poster of the Enjoy 9s. The phone’s existence was brought to our attention via a tweet by Roland Quandt.

The P Smart+ 2019 has a 6.21-inch 2340 x 1080 display with a Dewdrop notch. The display has an Eye Comfort mode that protects the eyes from harmful blue light and is certified as safe by TÜV Rheinland.

It is powered by the Kirin 710 which is paired with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage (512GB max.). The Enjoy 9s has 128GB of storage but the RAM is still unknown.

The poster for the Enjoy 9s revealed the phone has a 24MP AI triple rear camera with one of the sensors being an ultra-wide angle camera. The P Smart+ 2019 has the same camera configuration – a 24MP main sensor, a 16MP ultra-wide camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. The selfie camera is an 8MP sensor.

The camera has tons of features including Handheld Night Mode, AI photography which can identify more than 500 scenes and has 22 different categories, and 480fps slow-motion recording.

Other Realme phones will get the Realme 3′ Nightscape feature

It is no surprise that almost every new phone comes with a camera mode dedicated to taking photos in low-light. This became a trend following the success of the Pixel 3‘s revolutionary Night Sight mode. However, older phones have not been left out as manufacturers have been able to push out the feature to their older devices too. Realme has also joined the train with its Nightscape feature which debuted on the Realme 3.

According to Realme, the Nightscape mode greatly improves the quality of images taken in low-light environments using a combination of AI and multi-frame exposure.

The good news is that you don’t have to pick up the Realme 3 if you want the feature. Realme CEO Madhav Sheth has announced that Nightscape mode will be coming to older Realme phones. However, there is no timeframe yet for when it will arrive.

Snapdragon 855-powered OPPO OP46C3 benchmarked on AnTuTu

A device which might just be OPPO‘s upcoming flagship has been benchmarked on AnTuTu. The benchmark tool identifies the device as the OPPO OP46C3 and it also lists some of its key specifications.

The OPPO OP46C3 runs Android 9 Pie and is powered by the Snapdragon 855 processor. It also has 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The screen size is unknown but its resolution is 2340 x 1080. This is the same screen resolution as the new OPPO F11 Pro, so this phone most likely won’t have a notch.

Its AnTuTu score is 365,246 which is expected for a Snapdragon 855 phone.

We are not sure but this might be the same flagship phone OPPO’s vice president talked about yesterday. In the Weibo post, he revealed the phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 855 processor, have a 4065mAh battery and 10x hybrid zoom.

Xiaomi sold over 200,000 Redmi Note 7 units in India in just minutes

Xiaomi launched the premium Redmi Note 7 alongside the Redmi Note 7 Pro on February 28 in India. The Redmi Note 7 was billed to go on sale yesterday (March 6) and it did go on sale. As was expected, the first sale didn’t even last for long before all units were sold out. Xiaomi’s India head Man Jain has revealed via a tweet that the Chinese tech giant had produced over 200,000 unit of the model since production commenced in India till date. He also disclosed that all 200K+ units were sold out in just a few minutes.

The Redmi Note 7 is not as popular as the Note 7 Pro going by the response from fans before the models were launched. But the device has turned out to be a hot-selling model perhaps buoyed by not selling at the same time with the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The Xiaomi India head hinted that the firm is working hard to increase production for both models. The Redmi Note 7 Pro will go on sale for the first time on March 13 and we expect the sales to be even hotter.

As a reminder, Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 packs a 6.3-inch Full-HD+ “dot notch” display with 2340 x 1080 pixels screen resolution, 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and 409ppi pixel density. Under the hood, it packs Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor, clocked at 2.2 GHz and coupled with Adreno 512 GPU. The phone comes in two variants — 3GB RAM and 4GB RAM. The 3GB RAM model has 32GB internal storage while the 4GB RAM model comes with 64GB internal storage. There’s a microSD card slot for expanding the phone’s storage capacity up to 256GB. The camera specs on the Indian variant is quite different as you get a modest 12MP+2MP combo at the back with support for PDAF, Super Night Mode, EIS, Portrait Mode, AI Scene Recognition, and HDR. Guess Xiaomi reserved the 48MP sensor for the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The device comes with a 13MP selfie camera. The phone is powered by a 4,000mAh battery and supports Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging technology.

Samsung just launched in India another midrange that will try to cannibalize the sales of its main Chinese concurrence. The Korean giant is struggling at keeping its market share in the midrange segment in the last years, but it does not stop trying. We are talking about the Galaxy M30 which combines a great price with a huge battery and an interesting camera department. Design

The design of the Samsung Galaxy M30 did not convince me so much, unlike its other specifications. The one I prefer more is the Redmi Note 7 Pro with its reflective glass back, pretty compact size and even good build quality. It is not among the most resistant phones out there, but it is water resistant, unlike most of the midrange devices. The reflective glass back can be chosen in stunning gradient color variants making it even more magnetic.

Display

We appreciated the fact that Samsung chose to use a Super AMOLED display even for a midrange from the M series. AMOLED panels provide more vivid colors and this particular one is very brilliant. While the quality of the display of Samsung Galaxy M30 attracts me, someone may prefer the Oppo F11 because it has a bigger and more phablet-like display. With a size of 6.53 inches, it is more suitable for advanced users and productivity. Even if you are a gamer you will find it more comfortable. Redmi Note 7 Pro has a classic midrange-class display which offers nothing exciting, so Samsung Galaxy M30 wins the display comparison.

Specs & Software

Thanks to the powerful Snapdragon 675 and its great GPU, Redmi Note 7 Pro is the king of performances here. It is the best device for you if you like gaming and multi-tasking, because its chipset is faster and it is very performing with high-demanding tasks. The second place should go to the 12 nm Helio P70 found on the Oppo F11. This device alongside the Redmi Note 7 Pro comes with Android 9 Pie out of the box, while Galaxy M30 is still based on Oreo. It does not make the difference as every device comes with a highly customized Android version, but it is good to know. Each of these devices comes in the same memory configurations, so the chipset makes the difference. Note that Oppo F11 has no expandable storage, unlike its rivals which come with a hybrid micro SD slot.

Camera

While Oppo F11 and Redmi Note 7 Pro are equipped with a rear dual camera composed of a main 48 MP sensor and a secondary depth sensor, Samsung Galaxy M30 opts for a triple camera including a 13 MP main sensor, a 5 MP ultrawide sensor and a depth sensor. Oppo F11 and Redmi Note 7 Pro should deliver a better photo quality, while Samsung Galaxy M30 will click more original shots thanks to its wide-angle sensor. Which one do you prefer? The front camera battle should be a hard fight between Samsung Galaxy M30 and Oppo F11. Note that we still did not test all the cameras of these devices, so we can not give you a definitive opinion about them. Despite its photo quality may be inferior, I would personally pick the Samsung Galaxy M30 for its ultrawide sensor. Mid-rangers are far away from flagships when it comes to camera quality, so I would focus on the innovation and original shots instead of camera quality when getting a midrange phone.

Battery

The battery of the Samsung Galaxy M30 is the biggest ones, even though Redmi Note 7 Pro and Oppo F11 are among the best battery phones in their segment. Thanks to its 1000 mAh more than its opponents and its efficient AMOLED display, the Galaxy M30 will surely provide a longer battery life. There should be no challenge and the Galaxy M30 should be able to last up to three days with a moderate usage pattern. Oppo F11 and Redmi Note 7 Pro should last more or less the same, but Redmi Note 7 Pro may offer something more due to its smaller display and its efficient Snapdragon 675 SoC.

Price

In the Asian market, you can get a unit of the Samsung Galaxy M30 or the Oppo F11 for about €250/$280 in the base configuration, while Redmi Note 7 Pro, that is the winner of this comparison because of its better chipset and a higher value for money, can be found at just €200/$225.

AnTuTu’s most value for money Android smartphones list for February 2019 released

In order to help smartphone buyers to make the right decision, AnTuTu has released the list of the most value for Android phones list for February 2019. The list is divided into three price segments such as 0 to 999 Yuan, 1000 to 1999 Yuan, 2000 to 3000 Yuan and 3,00 Yuan and above. The price-performance lists have been compiled on the basis of average benchmarking score on AnTuTu and current pricing on Jingdong Mall for each smartphone.

The 0 to 999 Yuan (~$150) list is led by 32 GB + 3 GB edition of Redmi Note 7 that is priced at 999 Yuan (~$150). Its value for money (VFM) score is 143.6 and it has scored 143,466 points on AnTuTu. The second place goes to 4 GB + 64 GB Lenovo K5 Pro with 120 VFM score and 114,242 AnTuTu score. It carries a price tag of 948 Yuan (~$140) on Jingdong Mall. The 4 GB + 32 GB Meizu Note 8 that cost 899 Yuan (~$135) is placed on the third position. Its AnTuTu score is 103,813 and VFM score is 115.4.

The other phones that have made it to the list include 2 GB + 16 GB Redmi 6A, 4 GB RAM + 32 GB Honor 8C, 3 GB + 32 GB Honor 8A, 3 GB + 32 GB Redmi 6, 4 GB + 64 GB Lenovo S5, 4 GB + 64 GB Meizu V8 and 4 GB + 64 GB Lenovo K5 Note.

The 1000 to 1999 Yuan (~$150 to ~$300) category has 4 GB + 64 GB Meizu V8 on the number one position with 130 VFM score and 168,757 AnTuTu score. It is priced at 1,299 Yuan (~$193). The 4 GB + 64 GB Xiaomi Mi 6X priced at 1,149 Yuan (~$170) is placed second. Its VFM score is 122.3 and AnTuTu score of 140,634. The 4 GB + 64 GB Lenovo Z5s that costs 1,398 Yuan (~$210) is on the third. Its VFM score is 120.5 and AnTuTu score is 168,543.

The other phones that are included in the list are 4 GB + 64 GB Huawei Nova 2s, 4 GB + 64 GB Nubia Z18 mini, 6 GB + 64 GB Xiaomi Mi 8 SE, 4 GB + 64 GB Vivo Z1, 6 GB + 64 GB Honor Play, 4 GB + 64 GB Vivo Z3 and 6 GB + 64 GB Lenovo Z5.

The 6 GB + 128 GB Xiaomi Mi 9 has 123.5 VFM score and 370,459 AnTuTu score. It is priced at 2,999 Yuan (~$450). The third place goes to 6 GB + 64 GB Meizu 16th with 121.9 VFM score and 292,206 AnTuTu. It carries a price tag of 2,398 Yuan (~$360).

6 GB + 64 GB Nubia Red Magic Mars, 6 GB + 64 GB Nubia Z18, 6 GB + 128 GB Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S, 8 GB + 128 GB Xiaomi Mi 8 Explorer Edition, 6 GB + 128 GB Honor V20, 8 GB + 128 GB Xiaomi Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition and 8 GB + 128 GB Nubia Red Magic are the remaining phones that are present in the list.

The 3,000+ Yuan (~$450+) list includes 8 GB + 256 GB Xiaomi Black Shark with 3,099 Yuan (~$460) price tag, 94.3 VFM score and 292,136 AnTuTu score on the first position. The 8 GB + 128 GB Meizu 16th Plus is second with 94 VFM score and 291,264 AnTuTu score. It carries a price tag of 3,098 Yuan (~$460). The 8 GB + 128 GB Black Shark Helo that costs 3,199 Yuan (~$477) is placed on the third position. Its VFM score is 93 and AnTuTu score is 297,473.

Xiaomi crowdfunds washing machine and dryer set

Xiaomi keeps increasing the number of products under its crowdfunding platform. The latest product is a washing machine bundled with a heat pump dryer which can be sold separately. Dubbed Fa Le Wash set, it includes a 10kg inverter drum washing machine and a 9kg heat pump dryer. The set comes with a hefty price tag of 5499 yuan ($727) but the washing machine alone costs just 1999 yuan ($297). The dryer can also be purchased separately for 3999 yuan ($529).

The Fa Le washing machine and dryer set comes with similar size and design. However, they are so light that they can be stacked on top of each other in other to conserve space. Both appliances can also be placed side by side. The French-styled dryer uses heat pump drying technology to make the drying better and faster. The two-layer filter has better water vapor and dander treatment. Compared with the traditional condensing dryer, the French pump dryer heat pump drying technology can output about 3 times of heating efficiency under the same energy consumption, with an innovative silent fluid design. The washing machine up to A+ level drying energy efficiency and can dry clothes as fast as 35 minutes. The dryer also provides up to 99.99% sterilization rate. It equally has built-in ironing feature that reduces wrinkles for easy direct ironing.

The entire dryer machine adopts a silent fluid design with an optimized impeller. This increases the cross-sectional area of the hot air duct and reduces the wind speed. The noise detected by the Chinese household appliances test is less than 62dB when drying, which is lower than the normal conversation sound of people. It uses BLDC variable frequency motor with a maximum dehydration speed of up to 1400 rpm.

The product will start shipping on March 21 in China.

Unlucky owner receives Xiaomi Mi 9 without an LED flash

What will your reaction be if you bought a brand new phone and it was missing a key feature, like the charging port or a button or maybe even the LED flash? Surprise, bewilderment, anger and maybe even manage a laugh? We bet one or all of these must have been the expression of this unlucky person that just received her brand new Xiaomi Mi 9 and found out it doesn’t have an LED flash.

Weibo user (@飞鸿弄晚) has posted pictures of her new Mi 9 that arrived without an LED flash. It isn’t that the cutout for the LED flash is there but there is no LED, it is actually not there at all. All you have on the back are the triple rear cameras.

She did tag Xiaomi and some of its top executives in her post and the official Xiaomi customer service account responded to it saying she has been sent a private message. The unit will most definitely be replaced for her and she might get compensation for the troubles.

Master Lu benchmark confirms Snapdragon 710 powers the Vivo X27, TENAA images and official render surface too

It has been confirmed that the Vivo X27 will launch on March 19. The upcoming phone will be an upper mid-range device with some pretty interesting features such as a pop-up selfie camera.

The phone already showed up on TENAA about a week ago baring all its specs, and now Master Lu’s benchmark result has confirmed the processor that powers it.

The benchmark result shows the Vivo X27 (V1829A) will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 710 processor which is clocked at 2208MHz (2.2GHz). The chipset will be paired with 8GB of RAM, and according to the TENAA listing, this is the only RAM variant. Its built-in storage will be 128GB or 256GB. The benchmark result also confirms the 6.39-inch display has a 2340 x 1080 resolution.

The Vivo X27 scored 87,086 points in the CPU test, 55,235 points in the GPU test and 38,920 and 25,390 points in the memory test and storage test respectively. Its total score is 206,631 points which put it in the “high-end” category according to Master Lu’s grading.

Apart from the benchmark result, an official render of the Vivo X27 has also surfaced online that shows the front of the phone, its pop-up selfie camera, and the triple rear cameras on its back.

The 16MP selfie camera slides out from the right side of the phone’s frame. The bezels around the sides are pretty slim and of equal sizes and there is a small slit in the frame for the speaker.

It is also nice to see that the triple rear cameras are flush with the rest of the body. In between the first camera and the second is the LED flash. There is no fingerprint scanner on the back as it is buried beneath the display.
