The Meizu 16s and Meizu 16s Plus are Meizu’s flagships for the year. Live photos of the latter have appeared online and they show what the front of the phone looks like.
Just like last year’s flagship – the Meizu 16 Plus, the Meizu 16s Plus will not have a notch. It will also not have a punch hole in its display. Meizu is sticking to slim bezels and it claims this year’s model has a slightly thinner chin.

There is a slit for the speaker where the top bezel touches the phone’s frame and to its right is the selfie camera. Unfortunately, there are no photos of the back of the phone.
The Meizu 16s Plus is said to have a 6.76-inch AMOLED display – 0.26-inches larger than its predecessor’s. There should be a fingerprint scanner buried underneath the display.
The phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 855 processor and will have a 48MP primary camera with optical image stabilization. As seen in the images above, the Meizu 16s Plus will come in white and black color variants.
Xiaomi recently released the flagship Mi 9 with a triple camera setup, its first phone with three rear shooters. This is China’s “Apple” keeping up with the trend in camera technology which has seen several OEMs release models with triple, quad and penta cameras. Seems Xiaomi will keep on slapping more sensors on its rear camera setup as it has announced a new partnership with Light, the company reputed to have developed the Nokia 9’s penta-camera setup.
Light claims it is the “world’s most advanced imaging platform” and the Nokia 9 PureView camera technology is a testament to that. The company rattled the industry when it released the Light L16 camera, which featured 16 cameras. Light’s technology combines 10 different images into a single super high-res photo.
Xiaomi becomes the third OEM to partner with Light after Nokia and Sony. Zhu Dan, VP of Xiaomi’s smartphone camera division has this to say; “We are thrilled to partner with Light to leverage their advanced imaging solutions for our future devices.” He went further to disclose that the company works tirelessly to remain at the forefront of smartphone innovation and that perfecting smartphone photography was a key focus for the Chinese phone maker. No mention was made of the project the company was working on but we expect something out of the ordinary.
The Nokia 3.1 Plus was launched in October 2018. When it was announced, Google had already released Android Pie but it came with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. Today, HMD Global’s Chief Product officer has announced that the Android Pie update is already rolling out to the phone.
The wait is over! Get ready to feast on a sweeter smartphone experience with Android 9 Pie on Nokia 3.1 Plus. Nokia smartphones get smarter with time #GetSmart#Nokiamobilepic.twitter.com/8wG544OAEk
The changelog for the update which is 1182MB in size is below:
New system navigation, settings menu, and notifications.
Adaptive Battery power prioritization for users’ most commonly used apps/services.
Adaptive and optimized brightness levels.
Predictive Applications Actions.
Google Security Patch 2019-02.
The Nokia 3.1 Plus has a 3.0-inch HD+ display and unlike the other Plus models, it doesn’t have a notch. It is powered by the Helio P22 processor which is paired with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of expandable storage.
The Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite are upcoming mid-range smartphones from Google. They are less-powerful models of the 2018 flagships. While there are rumors they may land first in India, it appears the phones will also be available in the US and even under contract with different carriers.
The FCC has certified about eight Google smartphones running Android 9 Pie. Two of them have the model numbers G020B and G020F which are believed to be the Pixel 3 Lite and Pixel 3 XL Lite respectively. However, there are other variants such as G020A, G020C, G020D, G020E, G020G, and G020H. The first three are believed to be variants of the smaller Lite model while the remaining three are variants of the XL model.
It has been reported that these other variants are likely carrier versions of both phones. An FCC filing shows the G020C model with support for US LTE bands. The other variants also support different US LTE bands.
A couple of weeks back, OPPO shared a teaser which reveals the company is working on a device dubbed F11 Pro and packing a 48MP main camera at the rear. The teaser had also shown that the device will have an elevating front-facing camera. Apart from the camera, no other details of the F11 Pro have been reveal until now, thanks to a purported GeekBench listing.
The device is said to have appeared on GeekBench as OPPO CPH1969 which is perhaps the codename but we couldn’t find it on the database. The listing shows it is powered by a MediaTek Helio P70 chipset paired with 6GB of RAM. The listing also shows the device will run on Android 9.0 Pie from the go but this will likely have OPPO’s custom Color 6 OS on top.
On the test score, the F11 Pro scored a total of 1571 points on the single core test and 5844 points on the multi-core test. This is consistent with the score of other mid-range models running Helio P70 chipset such as the Realme U1. In other rumours, the OPPO F11 Pro is expected to pack a 6.5-inch display and will have up to 128 GB storage. The device will also pack a big 4,000 mAh battery under its hood. OPPO is yet to reveal when the device will be launched.
Tmall, the popular Chinese online retail store has published a list of products that will be available on its site in March. The list is split into multiple categories including mobile phones which has some phones that haven’t launched yet.
First on the list is Vivo’s iQOO flagship smartphone which will launch on March 1. The Snapdragon 855-powered device was seen on TENAA yesterday and its specs include an AMOLED display, triple rear cameras, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. According to Tmall, it will be available in early March.
Next comes Samsung’s new S10 series which launched last week. It is already available for pre-order but you will be able to grab a unit on March 8 according to the online store.
The unreleased Meizu Note 9 is also on the list. Scheduled for a March 6 release, the phone will be available for purchase in mid-March.
While we are already aware of the existence of the other devices, this is the first time we are seeing proof of the Nova 4e’s existence. The Huawei phone will most likely be the name the Huawei P30 Lite will go by in China. It will have a waterdrop display and triple rear cameras and will be available on Tmall in late March.
The last mobile phone listed on the sheet is the Vivo X27. This is the successor to the X23 which launched last September. We don’t know anything yet about the phone but we believe it will come with an improved under-display fingerprint sensor, a more powerful processor, and better cameras. It will be available in late March, so its launch should be a few days before then.
Xiaomi had hinted that it would push an update for the Mi 8 SE in February which would usher in the super night mode feature that first featured on the Mi Mix 3. True to schedule, the Mi 8 SE has reportedly gotten a new OTA update which brings along the super night scene mode.
The new version is MIUI V10.2.3.0.PEBCNXM and the update make the Mi 8SE the sixth Xiaomi model to get the night scene mode after the Mi Mix 3, Mi 8 Pro, Mi 8, Redmi Note 7 and the Mi MIX 2s. Apart from the night scene mode, the update also brings some minor fixes to the device.
The night mode feature allows users to take HDR photos at night that appear super bright even if lighting is poor. The Night Scene mode takes several photos at different exposures and combines them into a single image that is bright and with as less noise as possible. The camera is able to do it by combining 8 different technologies including HDR, AIS, 4-axis OIS, and multi-frame noise reduction.
Realme 3 is all set to launch on March 4. Before its official launch, we have got a live image of the front of the phone, courtesy of the popular tipster, Ishan Agarwal. The new image confirms that the phone will feature a dewdrop display, similar to the one seen on its sibling, the Realme U1.
The photo further shows us the AnTuTu benchmark of the device, scoring an impressive 137,976. The tipster further reveals that the phone is powered by MediaTek’s Helio P70 and is running Android Pie OS out of the box.
Apart from this live image, GSMArena revealed a few camera samples from the Realme 3. These samples were compared directly with competitors like the Redmi Note 7 and Samsung Galaxy M20. There are two new features in the Realme model — Chroma Boost and Nightscape — which seem to give it an edge over its rivals, especially when it comes to dynamic range and night photography.
[envira-gallery id=”238368″]
In fact, if you compare the samples side by side, Realme’s Chroma boost feature seems to have done a fantastic job in boosting the dynamic range of the Realme 3. There’s a significant difference in the dynamic range among the three smartphone samples in question and the Realme model definitely had an edge. Even in the Nightscape mode, which is the company’s handheld night mode, the phone managed to do a fantastic job of managing the exposure and highlights with minimum noise. Once again, we could see that Realme 3 had a definite advantage.
You can check out the full camera comparison and samples from Realme 3 at GSMArena.
While official specs are not yet available, it is rumored that the phone will have a 6.3-inch display with FHD+ resolution, 4GB RAM, dual 16+5MP cameras at the back, and a large 4000mAh battery. The phone is also said to come in a starry gradient finish.
Overall, the phone is shaping up to be an impressive mid-ranger. All we have to do is wait until March 4 to get official details.

A couple of days ago at MWC 2019, Huawei announced the mate X, a foldable display device. It attracted a lot of attention from global media and is set to compete with Samsung Galaxy Fold. Along with the foldable display there comes many new questions that every customer wants to ask before buying it. In order to address these queries, He Gang, president of Huawei terminal mobile product line took a media session.
Mr Gang responded to the question on the device’s durability like how many times it can fold and unfold before breaking? He said that the company had not measured the exact number of counts. Huawei is testing the new device via different means, and still many tests are left. Before the actual launch, Huawei ensures that the device will definitely meet the consumers’ requirements.
In order to provide a seamless experience to users, the Apps should also follow new design rules. Well, commenting on the App development, Gang said that it is not a big trouble for the company. Huawei has already done a lot to improve the app experience on Mate X. It easily fits the tablet viewport when we unfold the device. It is quite comfortable for Apps to transform into a tablet view.
He Gang further emphasised that Huawei has taken care of the durability and usability of the Mate X. The foldable display will not act as a barrier for the daily usage of the smartphone. There won’t be any display issue which will interfere in its smooth usage.
Also, to get actual usage figures, we have to wait for a couple of years. As Mate X is a new kind of device and it would be quite difficult to comment on its usage, durability without having exact figures.
Additionally, it holds a 1.8GHz Kirin 980 SoC with 8 GB RAM. It is coupled with Balong 5000 5G modem chipset and comes with 512 GB internal storage. The new device carries a flexible 8-inch display with the resolution of 2200 x 2480 pixels. Mate X gives a viewport of 6.6 inches with the resolution of 1148 x 2480 pixels when folded. There are quad cameras on the device consisting of a 40-megapixel wide primary lens + 16-megapixel sensor for ultrawide photos + 8-megapixel telephoto lens and a ToF camera.
Meizu will announce its new mid-range phone, the Meizu Note 9 on March 6. The phone is expected to be the manufacturer’s answer to Xiaomi’sRedmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro. Ahead of the launch next week, a picture taken with the phone has surfaced.
The Meizu Note 9 will come with dual rear cameras – a 48MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor. There is no confirmation yet but it has been reported that the phone uses the same Samsung ISOCELL GM1 sensor as the Redmi Note 7.
The picture above is of the La Sagrada Familia, an uncompleted Roman Catholic church in Barcelona and was shared by Meizu’s VP, Li Nan. It isn’t a super wide-angle image but the Meizu Note 9 does a great job at capturing most of the building.
On a side note, since the picture was taken in Barcelona, we know the Meizu Note 9 is at MWC. Maybe someone will provide live photos of the device before the event is over.
The Meizu Note 9 will also come with a 20MP front-facing camera that is housed within the notch of its 6.2-inch FHD+ display.
This year at MWC 2019, various manufacturers showcased their abilities endeavouring the new 5G technology. Majority of the manufacturers announced the 5G supported devices which are slated to make debut in Q2 2019. In latest, Sony has joined the list of awaited 5G supported devices with its prototype device. The new device has been showcased at the MWC 2019 in Barcelona at Sony and Qualcomm booths.
It seems a decade of new technologies have just started with the announcement of folding smartphones from Samsung and Huawei. On the other hand, 5G technology support is gaining pace, and the initial batch of compatible devices have made an appearance at the Mobile World Congress.
As per our folks at Pocket-lint, they have spotted a Sony 5G prototype device at both Sony and Qualcomm booths. It was unlikely to get the full information about the device by just looking at it as the device was encased. Later talking to Adam Marsch, Sony’s global communications team, our source came to know that it is not a commercial but a testing product. Although, they even confirmed that the actual models would differ from the current prototype. Currently, multiple devices with minor hardware changes are going through different tests. The real purpose of minor hardware changes is to“trying to understand [what would happen] if you take an antenna away from a certain place and make it thinner”.
The prototype models are running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. It is even likely that the company would have coupled Snapdragon 855 with the X50 5G modem. The display measurements were not available, but it showed 21:9 aspect ratio. Sony has labelled the new device as “AG-1” internally as told by Adam Marsh. It uses 5mm wave for the 5G transmission along with sub 6 spectrum support.
Speaking further, Adam said that Sony is working on 5G technology but don’t have plans for any commercial product launch yet. It might come with a 5G device in the near future. The exact time frame is still unknown, although, it has been made clear that Sony is working on new 5G technology.
It has been speculated that Sony could come with a commercial 5G smartphone at IFA 2019 in September. It could be another version of recently launched Sony Xperia 1 which runs Snapdragon 855.
A couple of says, at its pre-MWC 2019 event in Barcelona, Huawei took the wraps off its flagship smartphone — Huawei Mate X. The phone is also the first from the China-based company to have a flexible display and 5G connectivity.
Apart from the foldable display and the 5G connectivity, another major feature that the smartphone comes with is support for Huawei’s next-generation of SuperCharge technology that offers 55W fast charging.
Now, Huawei’s President of Consumer Business and Mobile Products has revealed that the 55W SuperCharge technology will be exclusive for the Mate X smartphone for some time and the company has no plans to expand it to other devices.
He further added that offering 55W SuperCharge in Huawei Mate X is possible because the phone comes with two batteries so it’s possible to charge them faster simultaneously. Compared to Mate X, other smartphones come with just a single cell unit.
Huawei‘s Mate-series smartphones, which has been the company’s flagship lineup since the past few years, currently offers 40W fast charging. The clarification from the Huawei’s executive makes it clear that we should not expect the 55W fast charging in other smartphones anytime soon.
To remind you, the Huawei Mate X has a large 8” screen with a 2480 x 2200 resolution and an 8:7.1 aspect ratio when unfolded with a pretty thin bezel. When folded, It becomes a dual display phone – one side is a 6.6-inch (2480 x 1148) 19.5:9 display while the other is a 6.38-inch (2480 x 892) 25:9 display.
It is powered by the Kirin 980 paired with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. It has dual SIM support but only SIM 1 supports 5G. The 7nm Balong 5000 modem brings 5G support to the device. There are three cameras on the back of the Mate X which also double as the selfie cameras. The cameras were co-developed with Leica and are made up of a 40MP wide-angle lens, a 16MP ultra-wide angle lens, and an 8MP telephoto lens.
The Huawei Mate X runs EMUI 9.1.1 based on Android 9 Pie and comes with NFC, dual-frequency GPS, Bluetooth 5.0 for connectivity. As said, the company has split its battery into two for a total capacity of 4,500mAh. Huawei has also debuted its new 55W SupercCharge fast charging technology which is claimed to charge the device from empty to 85 percent in just 30 minutes.

While the Honor Watch Magic recently went on sale in India, the company has now started selling the Honor Band 4 Running Edition in the Indian market. Carrying a price tag of Rs. 1,599 (approximately $23), the new fitness tracker is available for purchase through Amazon India.
The Honor Band 4 Running Edition goes on sale in India just a couple of months after the Honor Band 4 was listed on Amazon India. The Running Edition model is said to be a “watered down” variant of the standard model.
The Honor Band 4 Running Edition comes with similar specifications as that of the conventional Band 4 launched year along with some added features such as running posture monitoring, water-resistance up to 50 meters and two wearing modes.
The fitness tracker comes with a 0.95-inch OLED display and a 2.5D glass on top. Just like the Xiaomi’s Mi Band 3, the Honor Band 4 is also water resistant up to 50 meters and also recognizes Swim strokes. It supports functions such as sleep tracking, exercise tracking, pedometer, continuous heart rate monitoring with Huawei TruSeen 2.0 technology, and sedentary reminder.
In addition to tracking activities, the device also shows notifications on the OLED display and even offers an incoming call-mute function. The device also comes with built-in NFC support, meaning that it can also be used to make payments. Under the hood, the fitness tracker is powered by a 100mAh battery, which the company claims can deliver standby time of up to 14 days.

On Sunday, HMD Global had announced couple of smartphones such as Nokia 210, Nokia 1 Plus, Nokia 3.2, Nokia 4.2 and Nokia 9 PureView. Except for the last one, others are all budget-friendly devices. The Nokia 9 PureView is the world’s first smartphone to feature five rear-mounted cameras. A Chinese publication has shared couple of sample shots that were captured using the Nokia 9 PureView handset.
The back panel of the Nokia 9 PureView has 7 round-shaped cutouts on its rear shell. It includes an LED flash, a 3D ToF (Time of Flight) sensor and the remaining are five 12-megapixel sensors. The ZEISS branded penta-lens setup include a pair of 12-megapixel RGB sensors and three 12-megapixel monochrome sensors.
When a user snaps a photo using the Nokia 9 PureView, all the five camera sensors function simultaneously to capture the image with different exposure like the Light L16 camera that features 16 camera sensors. Multi-frame synthesis algorithm kicks in to synthesize an image with topnotch quality.
The five cameras can collect tenfold more light than a conventional camera setup. Also, the presence of a ToF sensors creates a depth map for depth of field rendering. The publication that has shared the camera samples of the Nokia 9 PureView has claimed that the Nokia 9 PureView is equipped with Light’s ISP since Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processor synthesis of up to three shots. Nokia 9 PureView comes preinstalled with Lightroom. By using it, users can edit the RAW photo.

On March 26, the Chinese manufacturer will be launching the P30 series of flagship phones. Fresh images of a smartphone with “Vogue” branding have been leaked. Recent reports have revealed that the Vogue is an internal codename of the one of the P30 smartphones. Since the leaked images reveal that the handset is equipped with triple rear cameras, it is being speculated that it could be the Huawei P30 handset.
The vertical triple camera setup is followed by a LED flash unit that seems to feature an autofocus sensor. The VOGUE and LINK branding on the rear are expected to be respectively replaced by Huawei and Leica brand names.
The glass back panel of the phone has a chrome finish. There is no fingerprint reader on the rear. Rumors surrounding the phone have claimed that it will be equipped with an in-screen fingerprint reader. The edge of the phone is fitted with a volume rocker and a power key. The handset does not feature a 3.5mm audio. There is a USB-C slot on the bottom of the device.

The publication that has leaked the images of the dummy unit has claimed that it is the Huawei P30 Pro smartphone. However, as mentioned above, its design suggests that it could be the Huawei P30 smartphone.

With foldable smartphones from the likes of Samsung and Huawei are getting all the attention because of their novel design and unique use-cases, ZTE‘s sub-brand Nubia has announced a device that is totally different from what others are offering — Nubia Alpha.
Nubia Alpha is a wearable device with a foldable display which looks to be acting like a smartphone. Basically, Nubia Alpha is more of a smartphone in the form factor of a smartwatch — a standalone wearable device.
It features a 4-inch flexible OLED display but appears a lot bigger because of its ultra-wide aspect ratio. The display offers 960 x 192 pixels screen resolution which seems to be offering 5:1 or 49:9 aspect ratio.
While the company addresses the device to be a smartphone, it actually is a smartwatch. Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 chipset, coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.
It also comes with fitness-related features such as sleep-tracking and health-assistant apps. The device also features a 5-megapixel camera for taking photos and video recording. The Nubia Alpha is fuelled by a 500mAh battery which promises a day or two of endurance, comparable to smartphones.
As for the software, the device runs a custom operating system based on Android which comes with features like motion gestures and AIM (Air Interaction Mechanics) and also supports voice-based commands.
When released, the Nubia Alpha will be available in a couple of models and two color options — Black and Gold. The base model will have Bluetooth connectivity while the high-end model will offer eSIM compatibility.
The Bluetooth version of the Nubia Alpha will launch in April and it will cost €450 and will be offered only in Black color while the eSIM model will be €550 for the Black color and €650 if you want the Gold version. It will be available in China from April and then in Europe (in Q3) and North America (Q4).
