In the face of a saturated domestic market, Chinese manufacturers are looking to diversify into new markets abroad. Several of he top Chinese brands are already making tremendous progress in this regard. OPPO and Huawei mobile smartphones are beginning to gain more grounds as their growth is increasing on-the-go in the Australian market. Roy Morgan gave a static of the figures of Australian users of the Huawei mobile phone to be growing from 87% to 471,000 between the year 2017 and 2018.
On its part, OPPO came into the Australian market in late 2014 but has shown a tremendous impact to emerge as Australia’s seventh most widely used mobile phone with 368,000 Australian users. Though there is remarkable growth for both the OPPO and Huawei mobile phone brands compared to other smartphone producers, they still remain behind Apple and Samsung which are the market leaders both in the global and Australian markets.
Apple iPhone has been the most widely used mobile phone by over 8.6million Australians with an increase of up to 16% in two years.
While Samsung has over 5.6million users in Australia in 2018 with no definite changes in two years.
Sony’s smartphone game hasn’t been impressive in the past couple of years. The company is still making flagship phones like the Xperia XZ3 powered by Snapdragon 845, but its mid-range models are likely doing better than its top-end ones. The company is expected to update its mid-range Xperia XA lineup at CES 2019 and before its launch, a couple of models seems to have been certified on EEC (Eurasian Economic Commission).
Three Sony models, namely I4113, I4213 and I4312 were spotted on EEC a couple of days back. Going by their naming scheme, they seem to be a part of the Xperia XA3 lineup. If you remember, the model number H4213 belonged to Xperia XA2 Ultra and the H4113 was the model number for Xperia XA2. Given that every year, Sony moves on to the next letter in the alphabet series (G in 2017, H in 2018 and hence, I in 2019), these models could very well be the upcoming Sony Xperia XA3 models. We saw the XA2 models back at CES 2018, so the new models could debut in January next year at CES 2019. There’s one more model with the number, I4312 but we are not sure of the identity of this particular one.
Lenovo astonished the smartphone industry when it announced the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT as the world’s first Snapdragon 855 chipset powered smartphone at the launch event of Lenovo Z5s on Monday. The marvelous Lenovo Z5 Pro GT is the first smartphone to feature 12 GB of RAM. The Chinese manufacturer also announced that the Z5 Pro with its monstrous specs is leading the AnTuTu benchmarks with an average benchmarking score of 368,480. This score not only puts the smartphone ahead of all the Snapdragon 845 and Kirin 980 powered smartphones, but also it has defeated Apple A12 chipset driven iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR. Soon after the launch, AnTuTu confirmed that the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT has outscored all the other Android phones, but it claimed that its benchmarking score cannot be compared with iPhones.
The image shown below was displayed at the launch of the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT. It shows that the Lenovo Z5 Pro GT is ruling over iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max and iPhone XR that have respectively scored 356,501, 355,804 and 346,735 on AnTuTu benchmarks. The following four spots are occupied by Kirin 980 powered Huawei Mate 20, Mate 20 X, Mate 20 Pro and Honor Magic 2. The Xiaomi Black Shark Helo, OnePlus 6T and Nubia X are the Snapdragon 845 that are placed at the last three places on the list.
Through Weibo, AnTuTu explained that Android and iOS platforms have different algorithms. Hence, AnTuTu benchmark scores of Android and iOS devices cannot be compared.
The Lenovo Z5 Pro comes with 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen with slider design. It features up to 512 GB of storage. For photography, it features 16-megapixel + 8-megapixel dual front cameras and 16-megapixel + 24-megapixel dual rear cameras. It receives power from 3,350mAh battery.

A few months ago, Huawei has unveiled its all-new EMUI 9.0 custom interface which is based on the latest Android 9 Pie operating system with a few AI-based functions. The company has already released EMUI 9 update to several Huawei and Honor smartphones in China.
Now, after rolling out the update in its home country, Huawei has today announced through Twitter that it will soon start rolling out the new Android Pie-based EMUI 9 to international models, including Huawei Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, P20, P20 Pro, Honor Play, Honor View 10, and Honor 10.
According to a few media reports, users in Singapore and the United Kingdom have already started receiving the new EMUI 9 update. The new update should soon be available to users in other regions as well. For users who are upgrading, the size of the update is about 4GB while for those who are currently on the EMUI 9 Beta, the package size is about 770MB.
The EMUI 9.0 update brings various new changes along with all the features of Android 9 Pie. The customized skin comes with plenty of bug fixes and enhancements over the EMUI 8.0. The new user interface is better optimized for full view displays and carries additional AI-based features.
It also brings the Computer Mode Version 2.0, wireless universal screen projection through Miracast, one-click screen capture, and HuaweiShare for faster file transfers, among others. There is also a new password manager capable of auto-filling passwords using ID verification from the fingerprint scanner or via facial recognition.
The settings menu has been trimmed down by 10 percent. It also comes with GPU Turbo 2.0 which reduces the touch response of the phone by 36 percent and adds a new app assistant. This new GPU Turbo 2.0 introduces support for four more games: Vainglory, Arena of Valor, Rules of Survival, and NBA 2K18, in addition to PUBG and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
Since the update is based on Android Pie, it also gets navigation gestures. Among other features, the Android Pie also comes with Adaptive Battery which makes use of machine learning technology to improve the phone’s power management.
Meitu might be a lesser known company outside of China, but the company made headlines a few weeks back when it announced a strategic partnership with Xiaomi (full details here!) wherein it granted an exclusive global license to the popular smartphone maker to use its branding and certain technologies in relation to all of its upcoming smartphones, except one — the Meitu V7. At that time, we had only seen this device in TENAA images, as it was yet to be revealed, but today, the company decided to officially announce its existence.
The new teaser poster for the Meitu V7 confirms the triple front camera design that we had earlier seen in its TENAA leak. Meitu’s smartphones are all about selfies and beautifying features, so it’s not surprising to see that they decided to add three cameras right on top of the display. The company continues to keep its signature ‘V’ styling on the new model as well, and the back is adorned by leather with dual cameras. Like most other Meitu products, the V7 is also designed to stand out of the crowd in terms of its design. Nothing is subtle about the device and if you take a look at the earlier released TENAA images, the design is quite flashy.
Meitu also reveals that the V7 will get a special Tonino Lamborghini edition. Before you get too excited know that it’s not another partnership with a sports car maker. Unless you know the difference between Tonino Lamborghini and Automobili Lamborghini brands, it’s very easy to mistake that this is a partnership like OPPO’s Lamborghini edition or OnePlus 6T’s McLaren edition. However, Meitu V7’s partnership is with the luxury accessories maker, also known for its luxury smartphones (remember the Lamborghini Alpha One?). We still don’t know how this special Tonino Lamborghini edition will come to be, but we’ll hear more details in the coming weeks.
Unfortunately, Meitu hasn’t given us a release date for the V7 yet. So, all we can do is wait for more details. The phone is likely going to be placed as a high-end offering in its lineup, so expect a flagship chip like the Snapdragon 845 on board. You can get more details from the TENAA listing from here.

HMD Global has recently confirmed that the arrival of the Nokia 9 PureView has been delayed which suggested that could the Finnish might have initially planned to launch it at the end of 2019. It appears that the arrival of the Nokia 9 PureView may not be far since one of its model numbers TA-1094 has been certified by Bluetooth SIG body. The TA-1087 and TA-1082 models that have been approved along with TA-1094 are speculated to be the variants of the Nokia 9 PureView.
Few months ago, a leaked photo of the alleged Nokia 9 PureView smartphone featuring penta-lens camera setup had surfaced online. The TA-1094 model number was also mentioned on of the labels that was placed on the rear side of the smartphone.
The Bluetooth SIG certifications of TA-1094, TA-1087 and TA-1082 reveal that they do not support 5G. Also, they carry support for Bluetooth 5.0 and 4G LTE networks. Nothing else has surfaced on the specs of the Nokia 9 PureView through its Bluetooth SIG certification. Speaking of certification, the Nokia TA-1087 has been also approved by Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) in the recent past.

The handset could be equipped with a notch-less OLED screen with support for Quad HD+ resolution. The SD845 SoC of the phone could be supported by 8 GB of RAM.
The Nokia 9 PureView is rumored to house a big battery of 4,150mAh capacity. It may also include support for wireless charging. The handset may come up to 128 GB of storage. It likely to lack support for 3.5mm audio jack.

OnePlus is expected to debut OnePlus 5G phone and the OnePlus 7 smartphone within the first half of the coming year. Just as the recent OnePlus phones have been launched with design inspired from R-series smartphones from OPPO, there is a possibility that the upcoming OnePlus 7 may look like the OPPO R19 arriving in the first quarter of 2019. What about the first 5G smartphone from OnePlus? Well, nothing much is known about its specs and design. It is speculated that the company may introduce it as a new series. Well known tipster has shared a leaked photo that was shot secretly during an internal meeting at OnePlus. The leaked photo reveals that the company is working on a mysterious OnePlus smartphone with a very unique design.
In the leaked image, the mysterious red colored OnePlus smartphone can be not only seen on the projector screen, but also a white variant of the same device can be seen in the hands of an employee. OnePlus CEO Pete Lau can be seen explaining some features of the mysterious device which features a round-shaped module instead of the vertical dual camera setup on the OnePlus 6T.
Rumors have it that the OPPO R19 may feature an in-screen hole for the frontal camera and a vertical dual/triple camera setup on the rear. Probably, the OnePlus 7 may sport the same design. Since the OnePlus 5G is expected to debut as a new series, it could be the very same handset that has surfaced in the leaked image.
The tipster has added that the unidentified OnePlus device is still in the development stages. Hence, there is a possibility that the final product may sport an entirely different design.
Recent reports have revealed that the OnePlus 5G will be unleashed before the end of May 2019. It will be featuring the Snapdragon 855 chipset that tags along X50 LTE modem for 5G connectivity. As far as pricing is concerned, it will be costing around $200 to $300 more than the OnePlus 6T. Europe will be the first market to receive it through the UK carrier EE. it will be also coming to the U.S. through carriers like T-Mobile, AT&T and Verizon. The handset is expected to be showcased at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 tech expo in Barcelona, Spain in February next year.
Some reports have claimed that the image was leaked on purpose by OnePlus to build the hype around the upcoming OnePlus 5G smartphone. Do you think so? Share us your views by posting your comments below.
