A couple of months ago, Nubia launched its flagship smartphone in China, dubbed Nubia X. The phone comes equipped with two touchscreen displays and is packed with top-notch specifications.

On the back side, there’s a 5.1-inch OLED screen with 720 x 1520 pixels screen resolution.

For heat dissipation, Nubia has included multi-layer graphene cooling technology. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core chipset, the phone packs up to 8GB RAM and 256GB internal UFS 2.1 storage. There are two fingerprint scanners that are placed on both sides of the smartphone. The company claims that it can unlock the smartphone in just 0.1 seconds.

The Nubia X features f/1.8 aperture 16-megapixel + f/1.7 aperture 24-megapixel dual camera module with features like HDR, AI portrait mode, AI scene recognition, dual pixel PDAF, 240fps slow-motion video recording, and dual tone LED flash. For taking selfies, the rear-facing display serves as a viewfinder.

The phone ships with Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out-of-the-box with the company’s own Nubia UI 6.0. The device is powered by 3,800mAh battery which supports 18W fast charging technology. The company says that with the ultra-low-power mode, the smartphone can function for up to 3 hours with only 5-percent battery life.

Almost all of the flagship smartphones launched recently have been focused on improving camera performance, especially in the low-light photography department. The most impressive solution for low-light photography so far comes from Google, thanks to the company’s “Night Sight” feature in Pixel 3-series phones.

Now, Samsung is reportedly working on offering a similar solution for its smartphones called “Bright Night.” The feature works on a simple approach — take multiple pictures and combine them into one picture that is much brighter, shows more detail than a typical low-light photo, isn’t overexposed, and doesn’t rely on the LED flash.

It is speculated that the “Bright Night” feature might debut with Samsung‘s upcoming flagship — the Galaxy S10-lineup. XDA-Developers decompiled the stock Samsung Camera app which comes with the latest Galaxy Note 9’s One UI build that explicitly describe a feature similar to what other night mode features do.

If the feature debuts with the Galaxy S10, there’s a possibility that the “Bright Night” feature may be Galaxy S10 exclusive for a while, before being rolled out to the company’s other phones. The South Korean company did this with “Scene Optimizer” feature on the Galaxy Note 9, which was later introduced in Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus.

While Google’s “Night Sight” is the most well-known feature in terms of low-light photography, many smartphone manufacturers are offering a similar feature that does exactly the same things, but not effective as Google’s solution. OnePlus is calling its solution “Nightscape” while Xiaomi calls it “Night Scene”. China-based Huawei has named it “Night Mode” while its sub-brand Honor prefers calling it “Super Bright Mode.”

Samsung’s Galaxy S10 is shaping up to be a fundamental revision for the company and is not just an iterative update over the Galaxy S9-series. The Galaxy S10 is reportedly coming with an in-display front-facing camera, ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, triple-camera setup on the back, among others.

There’s also a 5G-compatible variant of the Galaxy S10, which will reportedly be showcased during Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The company is expected to hold its “Samsung Unpacked” event to launch the Galaxy S10-series on 20th February, a week before MWC 2019.

Huawei P20 smartphone series started a new trend for flagship smartphones to offer multiple camera sensors. Now, with the P30-series phones expected to launch in the coming months, expectations are high in terms of camera performance.

Earlier, it was reported that the Huawei P30 Pro will come with four camera sensors on the back panel but there was no information available for the standard Huawei P30, until now. A new report indicates that the Huawei P30 will feature three camera sensors on the back panel.

In the triple-rear camera setup, the main camera sensor will support a maximum resolution of 40-megapixel, similar to Huawei P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro. One of the sensors in the triple-camera setup will have a telephoto lens, enabling the device to support 5x lossless zoom.

Instead of the monochrome sensor that Huawei usually uses in the P-series smartphones, the phone is expected to have a newly updated wide-angle solution. As for the front-facing camera, the report suggests that the smartphone will feature a 24-megapixel snapper. We are also expecting the front camera to support various AI-based features.

While the phone’s specifications are not yet known, the smartphone is likely to be powered by the company’s recently launched flagship chipset — Kirin 980, touted as the world’s first mobile processor manufactured using 7nm process. However, some of the recent reports including the Geekbench listing of the phone have revealed that there will be an 8 GB variant of the phone. Today, the AnTuTu listing of the Honor V20 (PCT-AL10 model number) has surfaced to corroborate that the handset will be available in 8 GB version.

The Honor V20 PCT-AL10 AnTuTu listing reveals that its 8 GB edition will be equipped with 256 GB of internal storage. The Kirin 980 chipset powers the smartphone. The display of the phone supports 2310 x 1080 pixels. The average benchmarking score of 274,343 of Honor V20 is lower than the previous leaked score of 291,244.

Xiaomi is all set to launch its all-new Xiaomi Play smartphone on 24th December in China. While most of the details related to the phone have already leaked online, a new report sheds light on the bundled offer with the purchase of Xiaomi Play.

A Weibo user has shared an image of the Xiaomi Play’s retail box, which reveals that the smartphone will come with 10GB of free internet data for one year. Currently, there’s no further information available related to this offer.

The ‘Play’ name hints that the phone will focus on entertainment, gaming, other such ‘fun’ stuff. This will mark the expansion of the company’s portfolio of smartphones with a new series and the Xiaomi Play will be the first smartphone in this new series.

Earlier, there were rumors suggesting that the Xiaomi Play could be the rebranded version of the Pocophone F1 for the Chinese market. However, the images shared by the company has confirmed that the Xiaomi Play will be an all-new phone and not a rebranded model.

Recently, we reported that the Xiaomi Mi Play will come in three variants — 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage, 6GB RAM with 64GB internal storage, and 6GB RAM with 128GB internal storage. It is also expected to have a microSD card slot for expanding the storage capacity.

Further, it has also been leaked that the smartphone will be offered in three colors — Black, Dream Blue, and Dawn Gold. Xiaomi has been teasing the phone, revealing its design which confirmed that it will come with a waterdrop notch, making it first smartphone from Xiaomi to have such notch.

Additionally, the phone is confirmed to come with dual rear cameras which is likely to be powered by artificial intelligence technology. On the front side, it will come equipped with an 8-megapixel snapper. The rear camera sensors are stacked vertically in the top-left corner and there’s also a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The TENAA listing of the phone suggests that the device will feature a 5.84-inch Full HD+ display having 2280 x 1080 pixels screen resolution. The listing also reveals that the phone will be powered by a moderate 2,900mAh battery. The Mi Play is running Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out-of-the-box with the company’s own MIUI custom interface.

Honor V20 Geekbench Listing Reveals Kirin 980, 8 GB RAM

The Honor V20 budget-friendly flagship smartphone will be unveiled on Dec. 26. Just as the predecessor Honor V10 smartphone from last year was fueled by Kirin 980 chipset, rumors have been claiming that the Honor V20 will be featuring the Kirin 980 SoC. Today, the Honor V20 smartphone with model number PCT-AL10 has appeared on Geekbench that it will indeed by powered by the Kirin 980 SoC.

The Honor V20 PCT-AL10 Geekbench listing reveals that the handset has scored 3261 and 9792 benchmarking scores in the single-core and multi-core tests of Geekbench. The listing does not directly mention Kirin 980 name for the processor. However, the 1.8 GHz clock speed mentioned as the base frequency belongs to the quad-core Cortex A55 CPU of Kirin 980.

The Kirin 980 chipset is accompanied by 8 GB of RAM. The smartphone is preinstalled with Android 9 Pie OS. After the Honor Magic 2 premium flagship phone that was announced in October, the Honor V20 is the second phone from the company to feature the Kirin 980 SoC.

The Honor V20 will be featuring the very same 6.4-inch IPS LCD screen that is available on the recently unveiled Huawei Nova 4. The screen of the Honor V20 features a display hole at its top-left corner for the 25-megapixel selfie camera.

Samsung seems to be going all-out on its upcoming Galaxy S-series flagship smartphones, which are set to get launched ahead of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The phone is rumored to have an in-display front-facing camera and ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, among others.

Now a new report suggests that the South Korean company has already started mass production of the Galaxy S10-series smartphones. The report about the Galaxy S10 production comes from a German-based publication’s Twitter handle, which is known for its accurate leaks.

This is quite early given that the production of the Galaxy S-series smartphones usually begins in January. The reason behind starting the phone’s production a month earlier could be the phone’s new form factor as well as the new features that the company is reportedly going to offer, including ToF sensors and in-display fingerprint sensor, and others.

Apple to stop selling iPhones in its stores in Germany after ruling in Qualcomm patent case

After Apple was barred from importing and selling some iPhone models in China, Qualcomm has now been granted a second injunction against Apple on Thursday, banning the brand from selling some iPhone models in Germany.

Following the ruling in the Apple-Qualcomm patent case, Apple will now stop selling iPhones in its stores in Germany that use chips from Intel and parts from another supplier named Qorvo.

The judge has ruled that phones that contain a combination of chips from Intel and Apple supplier Qorvo violated one of Qualcomm‘s patents around envelope tracking that helps mobile phones save battery power while sending and receiving wireless signals.

In a statement, Apple said that it is planning to appeal the ruling. Under this condition, Judge Matthias Zigann told the ruling would not go into immediate effect. However, Apple said that throughout the appeal process, iPhone 7 and iPhone 8 models will not be sold in its 15 retail stores in Germany.

The company’s new iPhone models, including iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR, will still be sold in those stores. However, the company has clarified that all iPhone models, including iPhone 7 and 8 will still be sold through carriers and other third-party retailers in Germany.

In a statement, Apple said, “We are of course disappointed by this verdict and we plan to appeal. All iPhone models remain available to customers through carriers and resellers in 4,300 locations across Germany.”

On the other hand, Qualcomm said in a press release that the injunction will be in effect as soon as it posts the required bonds. The company added that it would complete the process “within a few days.” Don Rosenberg, executive vice president and general counsel, Qualcomm Incorporated, said:

Two respected courts in two different jurisdictions just in the past two weeks have now confirmed the value of Qualcomm’s patents and declared Apple an infringer, ordering a ban on iPhones in the important markets of Germany and China.

The German case is the chipset maker’s third major effort to secure a ban on Apple’s lucrative iPhones over patent infringement allegations. The company had earlier filed such cases in the United States and in China. This is also Qualcomm’s second major win against Apple after a Chinese court granted an injunction against Apple for an alleged patent violation earlier this month.

The case is part of a broader court conflict between the two technology giants in which Apple has alleged that Qualcomm engaged in anti-competitive business practices for a monopoly on its modem chips.
