This is not the final list by any means. We’ll update it once the official list is out.

When will Samsung release One UI 8 (Android 16)?

Samsung doesn’t want to delay the One UI 8 release like it did with One UI 7. That’s why the brand has reportedly decided to skip incremental updates like One UI 7.1 and 7.1.1 and directly release One UI 8 instead.

This will be a good move that will restore the brand’s reputation of providing long-term and timely updates that it has earned over the years. Samsung hasn’t announced the One UI 8 release date. However, according to a report, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 would run One UI 8 out of the box. These devices are expected to launch around July or early August 2025.

Google has already confirmed that Android 16 will be released in the second quarter, which means by June 2025. Some reports say it could arrive early in May. Either way, Android 16 is coming earlier than the OS release in the last few years, leaving less preparation time for Samsung and other Android brands. The One UI 8 beta program is expected to go live around July 2025. Take it with a pinch of salt, though, as things haven’t been promising with Samsung recently.

Its sibling, the standard Z10 Turbo, is expected to run on MediaTek’s Dimensity 8400 chipset. Both models share a bold aesthetic, seen in teaser images showcasing sleek finishes in Orange, White, Gold, and Black. The dual rear camera setup is complemented by a distinctive ring-shaped LED flash, giving the phones a refined and slightly aggressive look.

The phones are rumored to sport a 6.78-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, delivering ultra-smooth visuals. Camera duties are handled by a 50MP Sony IMX882 main sensor and a 16MP front shooter.

Battery life should impress too, the Z10 Turbo houses a massive 7620mAh carbon-silicon battery with 90W fast charging, while the Pro model opts for a 7000mAh unit with blazing-fast 120W charging, capable of a full charge in just 33 minutes. Vivo X200 Ultra vs Xiaomi 15 Ultra: Performance, Cameras, and Value Compared

With the Vivo X200 Ultra and Xiaomi 15 Ultra pushing the boundaries of flagship innovation, this comparison is essential for anyone deciding between two of 2025’s most advanced Android phones. Each device aims to set new standards, from top-tier cameras and ultra-bright displays to cutting-edge chipsets and satellite connectivity. But with stark differences in pricing, features, and priorities, understanding which phone truly delivers the best experience for your needs becomes more important than ever.

1. Design and Display

Vivo X200 Ultra
Vivo X200 Ultra

Build and Feel:

Both phones deliver a premium feel, but the vivo X200 Ultra emphasizes refinement with its symmetrical glass and aluminum design. The IP69 rating gives it an edge for extreme durability, making it more suitable for rugged use. The Xiaomi 15 Ultra also has a premium look, especially with its eco-leather options and aerospace-grade materials. However, its IP68 rating is a slight step down in protection. The vivo feels slightly more durable and elegant, especially for users prioritizing sleekness and rugged resistance.

Display Quality:

Vivo X200 Ultra edges ahead with its larger 6.82-inch AMOLED display, higher peak brightness at 4500 nits, and dense 510ppi resolution. It supports Dolby Vision, HDR Vivid, and 1 billion colors. Xiaomi’s 6.73-inch screen is also vivid with 68 billion colors and slightly higher pixel density, but the Vivo offers more brightness and a larger screen area. For media consumption or outdoor usage, the Vivo’s display offers superior clarity and luminance.

Verdict:
While both devices feel high-end, the vivo X200 Ultra stands out with a tougher build and brighter, larger display. Its IP69 rating and excellent screen quality give it an advantage for users looking for visual immersion and rugged resilience.

2. Specifications

Xiaomi 15 Ultra

Performance:

Both phones run on the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chip with identical CPU and GPU setups, ensuring identical raw performance. This ensures equally smooth multitasking, gaming, and AI processing. vivo pairs this power with OriginOS 5, while Xiaomi enhances it with HyperOS 2 and promises 4 major Android updates. The software edge slightly leans toward Xiaomi, thanks to its longer-term software commitment, which will appeal more to users prioritizing longevity and updates.

Battery and Charging:

Vivo X200 Ultra is equipped with a larger 6000mAh battery across all models, compared to Xiaomi’s 5410mAh in global versions and 6000mAh only in China. Both support 90W wired charging, but Xiaomi pulls ahead with 80W wireless vs Vivo’s 40W. For users valuing fast wireless charging, Xiaomi is more convenient, especially for those using wireless docks. However, the vivo offers longer endurance due to consistently higher battery capacity across models.

Verdict:
Vivo delivers better raw endurance thanks to its bigger battery and is ideal for power users needing more screen time. Xiaomi, on the other hand, offers faster wireless charging and better software longevity, which suits tech-savvy users valuing future-proofing and convenience.

3. Camera

Vivo X200 Ultra
Vivo X200 Ultra

Main and Secondary Lenses:

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra features a more versatile quad-camera setup, including a large 1.0-inch sensor for the main lens and two telephoto options (3x and 4.3x optical zoom), plus a depth sensor. Its camera system, enhanced by Leica lenses and a 67mm filter ring holder, targets photography enthusiasts. The vivo X200 Ultra counters with a powerful 200MP periscope lens with macro support, gimbal OIS, and Zeiss optics. Despite having fewer lenses, the gimbal stabilization and image tuning make it ideal for smooth videography. Xiaomi has the edge in photographic range and manual control, while vivo offers smoother stabilized video.

Selfie Camera:

vivo boasts a 50MP selfie shooter with autofocus and 4K@60fps video recording. Xiaomi’s 32MP sensor lacks autofocus but supports similar video resolutions. The extra megapixels and autofocus on the vivo result in sharper selfies and more professional-looking video output, which favors users in content creation or video calls.

Verdict:
Xiaomi leads in rear camera versatility and creative control, making it preferable for dedicated mobile photographers. However, Vivo’s video stabilization and high-resolution selfie cam offer better results for vloggers or social-focused users.

4. Pricing

Xiaomi 15 Ultra

The vivo X200 Ultra is priced at around €750, while the Xiaomi 15 Ultra starts at about £1,029, reflecting a notable price gap. Considering the similarities in processor, display resolution, and even camera capabilities, vivo provides much more value for money.

Verdict:
Xiaomi commands a premium due to its Leica branding, quad-camera versatility, and additional wireless charging features. However, users looking for high-end features without stretching their budget will find the vivo X200 Ultra significantly more economical without sacrificing performance.

5. Conclusion

Vivo X200 Ultra
Vivo X200 Ultra

Xiaomi 15 Ultra introduces dual telephoto lenses, manual photography tools like a 67mm filter holder, and two-way satellite communication, making it ideal for professionals. Its 80W wireless charging and 4-year software support also stand out. On the other hand, the vivo X200 Ultra delivers gimbal OIS, Zeiss optics with T coating*, super-bright 4500-nit display, and IP69 protection, which makes it ideal for outdoor or adventure users. It also includes emergency satellite SOS on its 1TB variant, appealing to users prioritizing safety.

Final Verdict:
Both smartphones are loaded with flagship specs, but their target audiences differ. Vivo X200 Ultra is a rugged, camera-stabilized powerhouse with extended battery life and better value. It’s best for power users, travelers, and content creators. Xiaomi 15 Ultra, with its superior photo tools, wireless charging speed, and broader ecosystem, caters to enthusiasts who value imaging flexibility and long-term support. Overall, for most users, the Vivo offers better value and performance balance, while Xiaomi appeals more to professional photographers and premium tech adopters.

Samsung is testing its premium Tri-Fold — and the charging speed will surprise you

Samsung’s upcoming tri-fold smartphone, teased at the Galaxy S25 launch event in January 2025, has already drawn plenty of attention—though not all of it positive. A recent leak from X user @PandaFlashPro suggests this premium device might be stuck with a sluggish 25W charging speed, a letdown for a premium foldable phone expected to push boundaries in other aspects. With a potential Q4 2025 debut, here’s why this news has fans grumbling.

The tri-fold doesn’t even match the mid-range Galaxy A36 when it comes to charging

Samsung’s tri-fold phone, reportedly named the “Galaxy G Fold”, is set to be a game-changer with a 10-inch unfolding display and a 6.49-inch cover screen, matching the Galaxy Z Fold 7’s outer panel. But recent tests reveal a charging speed of just 23 – 24W, which will likely be marketed as 25W. That’s a bummer when mid-range Galaxy A56 and A36 phones zip along at 45W.

This isn’t new for Samsung’s foldables—the Galaxy Z Fold 6 caps at 25W, and a certification listing has confirmed the Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 will follow suit. Samsung reportedly prioritizes battery longevity over speed, unlike rivals like OnePlus, which hit 100W+ on some models. That said, we’ve yet to see clear evidence that faster-charging phones suffer significantly worse long-term battery health compared to slower-charging ones. For a premium tri-fold expected to cost a pretty penny—potentially rivaling Huawei’s $2,800 Mate XT (review)—Samsung’s 25W cap feels outdated, to say the least.

Other tidbits? The tri-fold might skip an under-display camera, opting for a hole-punch design, possibly to keep costs or complexity down. Notably, Apple is reportedly including it in its first foldable iPhone. With production of the tri-fold reportedly limited to 200,000-300,000 units, Samsung is playing it safe, likely testing the waters in South Korea and select markets first. A Q4 2025 reveal could mean a release by year-end or early 2026. While the tri-fold’s innovative design is exciting, the 25W charging cap may leave power users wanting more—and occasionally frustrated.

One UI 7 stable update is finally rolling out in India, Middle East, UAE, and Turkey

Samsung began rolling out the stable One UI 7 update to its 2024 flagships earlier this month, and it recently reached the 2023 models as well—though until now, it had been limited to Samsung’s home country. That’s changing, with the update now reaching users outside South Korea. Starting with the Galaxy S24 series, Z Flip 6, and Z Fold 6, the update is already live in India. Packed with a refreshed look and smarter features, it’s expected to expand to more devices soon!

Galaxy Z Fold 6 One UI 7 stable update

Stable One UI 7 is rolling out to Samsung’s 2024 flagships in India

The stable One UI 7.0 update is rolling out first to the Galaxy S24, S24+, S24 Ultra, Z Flip 6, and Z Fold 6 in India. It has also popped up in the Middle East, UAE, and Turkey, with North America likely next. Carrying the April 2025 security patch, this update is a big one—think 5GB for non-beta users. If you’ve got one of these phones, head to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install to check for it.

This isn’t just a security patch; One UI 7.0’s a full-on makeover. You’ll get a split Quick Panel and notifications page, with the panel now super customizable, including a handy volume slider. App icons for Samsung’s stock apps are sharper, the camera app is redesigned for easier one-handed use, and animations are much smoother. New and improved Galaxy AI features, like enhanced suggestions and object eraser, add some brains to the beauty.

The Now Bar is a standout, which shows live updates on the lock screen for media, timers, or Samsung Health workouts. Widgets got a glow-up too, with more options for home and lock screens, plus better lock screen customization. There’s a new battery icon, a new charging animation, and extra battery health tools. Older high-end and mid-range Galaxy phones are next in line, with budget models following in a couple of months. Unfortunately, little is known about the update’s development stage for non-flagship devices. Still, it’s worth keeping your notifications on—this one’s worth the wait.

China unveils world’s first 10G broadband network while the world still talks 5G

China has just taken the internet to a whole new level with the world’s first 10G broadband network, launched in the high-tech city of Xiong’an. Powered by Huawei and China Unicom, this 50G-PON tech promises blazing-fast speeds that could redefine connectivity, from instant movie downloads to lag-free cloud gaming.

Huawei

China’s bold step toward building the smart cities of tomorrow

Xiong’an, a futuristic metropolis 70 miles southwest of Beijing, is the country’s testing ground for cutting-edge tech, dreamed up in 2017 under President Xi Jinping’s vision. Now, it’s home to a 10G broadband network that hits download speeds of 10 gigabytes per second, per MSN. That means you could download a huge movie file in seconds or stream 8K video without a hiccup.

This isn’t just about seamless playback on Netflix. The 10G network unlocks wild possibilities like self-driving car systems, immersive VR/AR spaces, and smart city tech that ties everything together. It’s also a boost for AI, powering large language models with seamless data flow. Xiong’an’s “15-minute life circle” design ensures residents have shops and leisure within a short walk, making it a perfect fit for this high-speed rollout.

But it’s not all rosy. Bloomberg reports Xiong’an’s $100 billion build hasn’t drawn the crowds, with some calling it a ghost town lacking the buzz of private sector investment. Still, China is pushing hard to lead the tech race, and this 10G network—set to expand nationwide—shows they’re not messing around. While the world is still catching up with 5G, Xiong’an is giving us a peek at a hyper-connected future. Whether it’ll live up to its utopian hype or stay a quiet tech showcase, only time will tell.

Upcoming Legion Y700 (Gen 4) is an iPad Mini 7 killer, with 8.8-inch display, Snapdragon 8 Elite, and more details revealed

Lenovo has shared some key details about its upcoming Legion Y700 (4th Gen) tablet on Weibo. The brand also revealed that the new model will directly rival the iPad mini, highlighting several upgrades aimed at gamers and media enthusiasts alike.

The upcoming Legion Y700 (Gen 4) is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip —currently one of the most powerful options for Android devices. This hints at flagship-level performance, particularly for graphics-intensive games. Lenovo has gone with an 8.8-inch panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio, which offers more screen real estate than the iPad mini, making it well-suited for gaming and video playback.

To keep thermals under control during heavy usage, the tablet features a 12,000mm² copper VC cooling system. The build remains compact and comfortable for handheld use, with a width of 128.5mm and a height of 207.58mm. While it weighs 340 grams —slightly heavier than Apple’s counterpart—it still stays within the light tablet category.

In terms of memory and storage, users can pick between 12GB or 16GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB internal storage. There’s also a microSD (TF card) slot for expanding storage—an uncommon inclusion in today’s tablets. Powering the device is a 7,600mAh battery, which supports 68W fast charging for quick top-ups. Lenovo has even retained features like dual X-axis linear motors to enhance haptic feedback during gameplay.

With such a spec sheet, the new Legion Y700 seems purpose-built for users seeking power and portability—without being locked into a single platform like iOS. While the brand has confirmed several details about the device, it has not revealed its launch date.

The announcement was shared through Meta’s official channels, outlining the app’s focus on supporting video makers across all platforms, not just Instagram or Facebook. While still in its early stages, Edits aims to simplify the entire process of video production.

A creator-focused approach to mobile video editing

Edits is being positioned as an all-in-one workspace for video creators, developed in close collaboration with influencers and content producers. From longer mobile captures of up to 10 minutes to real-time distribution insights, the app is built to streamline content creation and reduce app-hopping. Videos can be shared directly to Meta’s platforms or exported without watermarks for use elsewhere.

The editing suite includes clip-level trimming, a precise timeline interface, auto-enhancement tools, and creative effects such as green screen and transitions. One of the app’s more unique features is real-time feedback—metrics such as skip rate are visible, helping creators understand how their videos might perform in distribution algorithms.

While the current version is already feature-rich, Meta has outlined several upcoming upgrades. These include the addition of keyframes to give editors granular control over motion and effects and AI-powered tools for quickly changing a video’s aesthetic. Collaboration features are also in the works, allowing creators to share drafts with others for review. More customization options, such as new fonts, text animations, transitions, filters, and royalty-free music, are also expected to roll out in future updates.

Edits is part of Meta’s ongoing efforts to support creative professionals, and the company has emphasized that future development will be shaped heavily by user feedback.

According to his statement, the OnePlus 13T will bring several first-in-industry display features to the compact smartphone segment, continuing OnePlus’s strategy of pushing flagship-level hardware into smaller form factors.

OnePlus 13T display details confirmed

According to Li Jie, this is the best small-sized flat screen available in the industry right now—not just due to specs, but thanks to proprietary technologies like the P2 screen display chip and China’s first and only in-house display science production line. These two innovations were first seen in the OnePlus 13 and ensure that the 13T meets DisplayMate A++ standards.

The OnePlus 13T also includes eye-friendly features such as Mingmu Eye Protection 2.0 and full-brightness DC dimming for reduced eye strain during extended use. Stable One UI 7 update now rolling out to Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Flip 5 in South Korea

Samsung is rolling out its stable One UI 7 update, based on Android 15, to the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 in its home country. This drop comes alongside updates for the Galaxy S23 series, S24 FE, and Tab S9 and S10 lineups. While it’s a big win for foldable fans, the global rollout is still a bit of a question mark.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5

Stable One UI 7 update for the 2023 flagships is currently exclusive to South Korea

Samsung is making rapid progress in Korea, pushing One UI 7 to a slew of devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5. Owners in the country can install the update by heading to Settings > Software Update and tapping Download and Install. It’s a hefty package, bringing a fresh design with new app icons, smoother animations, and enhanced Galaxy AI features like smarter lock screen widgets and improved Modes and Routines.

Samsung’s One UI 7 rollout has been somewhat messy so far. The company only recently released the update for its 2024 flagships — and even that is limited to its home country. According to Samsung’s official timelines for Germany and India, the stable One UI 7 update will roll out to its 2024 flagships — the Galaxy S24 lineup, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy Z Flip 6 — in April. Other eligible devices are scheduled to receive the update in May.

The global Tab S9 series, for instance, is also expected to receive the update in May — but it arrived early in Korea. It’ll be interesting to see when global users, especially those with mid-range and budget devices, will finally get to experience the improvements.

For now, folks outside Korea will need to sit tight and keep checking for updates. With One UI 7, the Fold 5 and Flip 5 feel snappier and more polished. We’ll keep you posted as Samsung expands the rollout, so stay tuned for when it hits your region.

Google reportedly pays Samsung big to install Gemini AI on Galaxy devices

Google is shelling out an “enormous sum” to Samsung to pre-install its Gemini AI app on Galaxy devices, a move revealed during an antitrust trial with the US Department of Justice. This deal, echoing Google’s past payments to secure its search engine’s dominance, has raised eyebrows as it’s been flagged as illegal twice before. With Gemini front and center on Samsung’s latest flagship phones, the DOJ is worried Google is tightening its grip on both search and AI markets.

Google is making hefty monthly payments to Samsung to preload Gemini AI on Galaxy phones

Google is no stranger to paying for prime real estate on devices. It’s been forking over billions to Apple devices for default search status and previously paid Samsung $8 billion from 2020 to 2023 to pre-install Google Search and the Play Store, per the 2023 Epic Games lawsuit.

Now, court documents from the ongoing DOJ trial show that Google is making hefty monthly payments to Samsung to ensure that Gemini AI is preloaded on Galaxy phones, starting with the Galaxy S24 series in January 2025. The deal, which could extend to 2028, includes a cut of Gemini’s ad revenue for Samsung, though exact figures stay under wraps. DOJ lawyer David Dahlquist called it an “enormous sum.”

This arrangement powers Galaxy AI features, some exclusive to Samsung, giving Google a massive platform to refine its AI while Samsung cashes in. But the DOJ argues it’s a rerun of Google’s monopolistic playbook, using its search dominance to boost AI and funnel users back to Google. With rulings already deeming such payments illegal, the trial’s outcome could force Google to ditch these deals or even sell Chrome, shaking up its cozy Samsung partnership and the broader AI race.
