A new AI powered action camera from Insta360 has just dropped. The company has officially announced the Insta360 X5, which is a 360° action camera. It is the brand’s latest camera from its popular X series, and brings various upgrades over its predecessor. So let’s check it out.

Back in August 2024, the company unveiled the Insta360 X4, and now we are getting its official successor. Just like its predecessor, the Insta360 X5 is a 360° action camera, featuring a 1/1.28-inch image sensor with a Triple AI Chip. This is a larger sensor compared to its predecessor with the brand promising improved image quality even at 8K 30fps video recordings.

Thanks to a new AI low light mode dubbed PureVideo, the Insta360 X5 can offer better footage even in dimly lit scenes. The new action features an InstaFrame Mode that allows users to capture flat videos to share immediately and even 360° video for editing later on. Other notable features include Twist to Shoot, Voice Control 2.0, and Gesture Control.

The company has also placed an emphasis on its durability, with the X5 featuring a new damage resistance glass for the lenses. Meanwhile, the lens system is now replaceable, allowing users to exchange a damaged lens. There is a hardware upgrade which includes an built-in wind guard, waterproofing up to 15 meters, and up to 3 hours of battery life.

When will Samsung release One UI 8 (Android 16)?

Samsung doesn’t want to delay the One UI 8 release like it did with One UI 7. That’s why the brand has reportedly decided to skip incremental updates like One UI 7.1 and 7.1.1 and directly release One UI 8 instead.

This will be a good move that will restore the brand’s reputation of providing long-term and timely updates that it has earned over the years. Samsung hasn’t announced the One UI 8 release date. However, according to a report, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 would run One UI 8 out of the box. These devices are expected to launch around July or early August 2025.

Google has already confirmed that Android 16 will be released in the second quarter, which means by June 2025. Some reports say it could arrive early in May. Either way, Android 16 is coming earlier than the OS release in the last few years, leaving less preparation time for Samsung and other Android brands. The One UI 8 beta program is expected to go live around July 2025. Take it with a pinch of salt, though, as things haven’t been promising with Samsung recently.

Other tidbits? The tri-fold might skip an under-display camera, opting for a hole-punch design, possibly to keep costs or complexity down. Notably, Apple is reportedly including it in its first foldable iPhone. With production of the tri-fold reportedly limited to 200,000-300,000 units, Samsung is playing it safe, likely testing the waters in South Korea and select markets first. A Q4 2025 reveal could mean a release by year-end or early 2026. While the tri-fold’s innovative design is exciting, the 25W charging cap may leave power users wanting more—and occasionally frustrated.

Ahead of the official launch of the OnePlus 13T on April 24, OnePlus China President Li Jie has taken to social media to unveil key details about the phone’s display. According to his statement, the OnePlus 13T will bring several first-in-industry display features to the compact smartphone segment, continuing OnePlus’s strategy of pushing flagship-level hardware into smaller form factors.

The OnePlus 13T will feature a 6.32-inch OLED flat display with a 1.5 resolution of 2640 x 1216 pixels and 460ppi pixel density. It supports 10-bit colors, a 120Hz refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, HDR10+, HDR Vivid, and Dolby Vision.

According to Li Jie, this is the best small-sized flat screen available in the industry right now—not just due to specs, but thanks to proprietary technologies like the P2 screen display chip and China’s first and only in-house display science production line. These two innovations were first seen in the OnePlus 13 and ensure that the 13T meets DisplayMate A++ standards.

Google reportedly pays Samsung big to install Gemini AI on Galaxy devices

The deal, which could extend to 2028, includes a cut of Gemini’s ad revenue for Samsung, though exact figures stay under wraps. DOJ lawyer David Dahlquist called it an “enormous sum.”
