Motorola Razr 60 Ultra/Razr+ (2025) Roundup: Design, Display, Chipset, & More

Motorola is known for its foldable devices, particularly its flip phones. Recently, there have been various rumors and reports surfacing online regarding the Motorola Razr+ (2025)/ Motorola Razr 60 Ultra, which have confirmed a bunch of key details. With the hype building up behind the next gen Razr foldable phone, here’s a detailed rumor roundup that talks about its specs, design, and much more.

1. Motorola Razr 60 Ultra/Razr+ (2025): Design & Display

For those unaware, the device is expected to launch as the Razr+ 2025 in the US market, while the global variant could be dubbed the Razr 60 Ultra. One of the latest leaks shared renders of the new flip phone, which reveals its entire design. The device can be seen in a dark green color option, with the body featuring stitched faux leather for the rear panel. We can see the volume rockers and a side facing fingerprint scanner as well on the frame, which seems to use a metallic alloy.

You can also see a large cover screen that takes up most of the space on the top half of the flip phone, which also houses the dual camera setup. Other notable design details include a USB Type-C port, a SIM slot, and speaker grilles. This is likely a 4-inch OLED panel. Meanwhile, the front is expected to sport a 6.9-inch foldable pOLED display that supports a high refresh rate and possibly FHD+ resolution.

2. Specifications

Since this is a premium flip phone, the Razr+ (2025)/ Razr 60 Ultra is expected to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite under the hood. To recall, the predecessor carried the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, so there’s a chance that Motorola uses the 7-core variant of the Snapdragon 8 Elite like the Oppo Find N5. A 4,000mAh battery pack might power this device, which likely offers fast charging support. While the exact camera details are unclear, the main sensor could be a 50MP camera that is paired with an ultra wide angle lens.

3. Rumored Launch Timeline

Unfortunately, Motorola has yet to confirm the launch of the new Motorola Razr+ 2025. However, a previous report had claimed that the device could launch in the second quarter of this year. So the Razr 60 Ultra could make its US and global debut sometime in the middle of this year.

Galaxy Z Flip 7 to launch with improved hinge and less visible crease, claims leak

Samsung’s upcoming foldable, the Galaxy Z Flip 7, might not be a major overhaul, but a new leak suggests at least one meaningful upgrade — a refined hinge mechanism that could make the display crease less visible.

A tipster going by the name @PandaFlashPro on X claims that Samsung has improved the hinge design on its next clamshell which should reduce the crease that runs across the middle of the foldable screen.

While it’s not the first time we’ve heard about hinge refinements, any improvement in this area is welcome—especially since the crease remains one of the biggest pain points of foldable phones. The Galaxy Z Flip 6 has already made some progress in this area, and if this rumor holds up, the Z Flip 7 might push things even further.

That’s pretty much it

That said, not all the leaks surrounding Samsung’s upcoming flip have been promising. For one, it might not bring a major upgrade in terms of performance.

The Z Flip 7 is rumored to launch with an in-house Exynos 2500 chip instead of Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon. We will have to wait to see how it stacks up against the competition, but given Samsung’s mixed track record with Exynos chips, there’s reason to be cautious.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6

Moreover, it is also said to retain the same 25W wired charging speed as its predecessor, which feels a bit outdated compared to some of the faster-charging foldables on the market. The design may also stay largely the same, aside from a potentially slimmer profile.

Of course, AI-powered features will likely be a big part of the experience, just as they were with Samsung’s recent flagship devices. Whether these will be genuinely useful or just more of the same remains to be seen.

With Samsung’s Summer Unpacked still months away, there’s plenty of time for more leaks and details to surface. But based on what we know so far, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 looks to be yet another incremental upgrade rather than a major upgrade. Hopefully, Samsung has a few surprises up its sleeve.

Is This What the iPhone 17 Air Will Look Like? Concept Renders Unveiled

Apple is reportedly making changes to its iPhone lineup with the introduction of the iPhone 17 Air, which is expected to focus on a thinner design rather than high-end specifications. It is also expected to replace the Plus model. Rumors suggest the iPhone 17 Air will have a different rear design from previous models. WEIS Studio has created a concept based on these rumors, providing a possible look at Apple’s upcoming slim device.

The concept render, based on leaked details, showcases a remarkably thin 5.5mm profile, even surpassing the iPad Pro in thinness. On the back, the render has a vertical camera visor with a single camera lens and a flash module. The visor design resembles the design found on the Google Pixel 9. This design-centric approach could be Apple’s strategy to attract buyers even if the phone does not have the top-of-the-line features of the Pro models.

The Air is rumored to feature a 6.6-inch display, positioning it between the standard and Pro Max models. Leaks suggest that the alleged pill-shaped camera module will host a single 48-megapixel rear camera sensor.

A recent image leak of a purported iPhone 17 Air case further supports this camera module design. The case image also shows a USB-C port, speaker grilles, and three buttons on the side.

Currently, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to include a 120Hz ProMotion display, Apple’s 5G modem, the A19 chip, Wi-Fi 7, and a more durable display glass. While specifics are scarce, reports indicate 8GB of RAM and a battery of around 3000 mAh. Compromises on battery life may be necessary to achieve the ultra-thin design. Notably, wireless charging and a physical SIM card slot may be absent.

The Air’s pricing is expected to be lower than the iPhone 17 Pro, which starts at $999. The iPhone 17 series, including the Air, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max, is anticipated for release in September or October 2025.

Honor to showcase ‘Alpha Plan’ at MWC 2025, betting big on AI

Honor is gearing up for Mobile World Congress 2025, and it’s bringing something bigger than just a new device. The company has announced its keynote event for March 2 in Barcelona, where it will unveil the “Honor Alpha Plan,” a broad corporate vision that emphasizes AI innovation and ecosystem expansion.

HONOR ALPHA Plan

Despite the grand branding, the details remain vague. Honor describes “Alpha” as a symbol of leadership, peak performance, and market dominance. The company sees itself as a key player in the AI-driven future of consumer tech. According to Honor, the plan represents its commitment to pushing boundaries in artificial intelligence, though it’s still unclear what that actually means in terms of tangible products.

AI, but what about hardware?

Honor has made AI a recurring theme in its recent launches, and the Alpha Plan seems to take that a step further. The company is positioning itself as a driving force in AI-powered consumer devices, aiming to build an “open and collaborative AI ecosystem” with global partners. This suggests a push beyond just smartphones, likely into wearables, smart home products, and other IoT devices.

However, one thing notably absent from Honor’s announcement is any mention of new flagship phones. Given that major smartphone launches typically get a bigger buildup, it’s possible Honor is saving those for a later event or focusing this keynote on software, AI-driven features, and ecosystem integration instead.

Honor’s event will take place at the Hyatt Regency Barcelona Tower on March 2 at 16:30 CET. For those attending MWC, the company will also have a presence at Stand 3H10 in Hall 3 at Fira Gran Via, where attendees can explore its latest products.

Whether the Alpha Plan is a game-changing strategy or just another marketing slogan remains to be seen. What’s clear is that Honor wants to position itself as a serious player in AI. Now it just has to prove it with real-world innovation.

South Korea suspends DeepSeek AI downloads amid privacy backlash

South Korea has temporarily halted new downloads of the Chinese AI chatbot DeepSeek, citing concerns over data privacy violations. The decision, announced by the Personal Information Protection Commission (PIPC), took effect on February 15, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. local time. While the mobile app downloads have been suspended, the web version remains accessible as the company works on meeting regulatory requirements.

deepseek

South Korea Cracks Down on DeepSeek AI

The PIPC revealed that its analysis of DeepSeek, conducted soon after the chatbot’s launch, uncovered flaws in its communication features and policies regarding the handling of personal information with third-party service providers. The commission emphasized that until these issues are resolved in compliance with South Korea’s Personal Information Protection Act, the app will remain unavailable for new downloads. Existing users have been advised to refrain from inputting personal data into the chatbot’s prompts until further notice.

DeepSeek has acknowledged that it failed to fully consider South Korean data protection laws before launching and has since appointed a local representative to facilitate regulatory compliance. The government aims to use this case as a precedent to strengthen guidance and oversight, ensuring that similar lapses do not occur in the future.

The suspension follows heightened scrutiny from South Korea’s National Intelligence Service (NIS), which previously warned that DeepSeek was excessively collecting user data and potentially using it to train its AI models. Additionally, security experts discovered that the app’s Android and iOS versions transmitted certain user data to its servers in an unencrypted format, raising further concerns.

This is not an isolated case, as global apprehension over DeepSeek’s data practices has been growing. The United States, Italy, Australia, and Taiwan have already imposed restrictions on the AI service for government use, citing security risks. NASA blocked DeepSeek from its systems, and the U.S. Navy warned personnel against using the app due to potential data vulnerabilities.

Amid these mounting concerns, Beijing maintains that it allows international internet companies to operate in China under local laws and insists that it does not compel firms to collect or store data unlawfully. However, as regulatory scrutiny intensifies worldwide, DeepSeek now faces an uphill battle to regain trust and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.

Xiaomi just launched a tiny temperature sensor that lasts for years

Xiaomi has introduced a new gadget for smart home enthusiasts: the Mijia Smart Temperature and Humidity Sensor 3 Mini. The compact climate tracker is now available for crowdfunding on Xiaomi Mall and Xiaomi Youpin, with the campaign starting on February 19. While the suggested retail price is 34.9 yuan (~$5), backers can get it at a discounted 29.9 yuan (~$4) during the campaign.

Xiaomi Mijia Smart Temperature and Humidity Sensor 3 Mini

Mijia Smart Temperature and Humidity Sensor 3 Mini Specs

At just 43 × 43 × 12.5mm, the Mijia 3 Mini is compact and lightweight, making it easy to place anywhere. Compared to its predecessor, the Mijia Bluetooth Temperature and Humidity Sensor 2, this model features a larger 2.1-inch LCD screen with a slimmer 5.1mm bezel. The upgraded design offers more screen space for better visibility, making temperature and humidity readings easier to check at a glance.

The sensor delivers 0.1°C accuracy for temperature and 1%RH precision for humidity, with real-time data refreshes every six seconds. Xiaomi says this level of precision helps users maintain a comfortable indoor climate, ideally between 19-27°C and 20%-85%RH.

Beyond basic monitoring, the Mijia 3 Mini connects to Xiaomi’s smart home ecosystem through Bluetooth Mesh. It can be paired with a Mijia Bluetooth gateway to automate home appliances via the Mijia app. Users can set up triggers for their air conditioners or humidifiers to activate automatically based on temperature changes.

It also supports voice control via Xiao Ai, Xiaomi’s smart assistant, allowing hands-free access to real-time temperature and humidity updates.

Battery performance is another highlight. The sensor runs on a CR2450 button battery, offering up to three years of battery life in long-lasting mode or two years in standard mode. The longer endurance setting increases battery life by about 50%, but at the cost of slightly slower automation response times.

Xiaomi has included a visual comfort indicator using emoji symbols. A smiley face appears when conditions are ideal, while a frowning face signals discomfort.

For users who want to track environmental changes over time, the sensor supports three months of on-device data storage and six months of cloud storage via the Mijia app. This makes it easier to analyze trends and adjust home conditions accordingly.

The Mijia 3 Mini is designed to fit seamlessly into any space. It comes with double-sided adhesive stickers for easy wall mounting, making it suitable for bedrooms, living rooms, offices, or even bathrooms, as long as it is kept away from direct water exposure. Its small size also makes it a convenient travel companion for monitoring hotel room conditions.

Built from high-quality ABS materials, the sensor is durable and resistant to wear. However, it is not waterproof, so users should avoid excessive moisture or submersion in water.

In related news, Xiaomi has expanded its smart home lineup with the Mijia Central Air Conditioner Pro and introduced a new ultra-thin smart fridge featuring dual cooling and a freezing capability of -30°C.

Perplexity AI takes on OpenAI and Google with new deep research tool

Perplexity AI is doubling down on the future of AI-driven research with the launch of its new “Deep Research” tool, aiming to provide users with expert-level insights in record time. The company, founded by former OpenAI researcher Aravind Srinivas, has quickly become a formidable player in the AI space, backed by industry heavyweights like Jeff Bezos and Nvidia. Now, it’s taking direct aim at OpenAI’s high-priced research agent with a freemium alternative that prioritizes accessibility and speed.

Perplexity AI Deep Research

Perplexity AI’s Deep Research offers expert-level analysis in minutes

Unlike OpenAI’s Deep Research, which is locked behind a hefty $200 monthly subscription, Perplexity is making its tool available for free, albeit with some usage limitations. Pro users, who pay $20 per month, get up to 500 deep research queries per day. The AI-powered assistant, currently available on the web, is set to roll out soon on iOS, Android, and Mac, making in-depth research just a few taps away.

At its core, Deep Research is designed to mimic how a human might approach a complex topic—iteratively searching, reading, and refining its understanding before compiling a polished, citation-backed report. It works across a broad range of subjects, from finance and marketing to health and product research. More impressively, it delivers results in under three minutes, a stark contrast to OpenAI’s offering, which can take anywhere from five to 30 minutes to generate similar reports.

Perplexity AI Deep Research Tech

Performance-wise, Perplexity’s Deep Research tool scored 21.1% on “Humanity’s Last Exam,” an AI benchmark for expert-level analysis. That places it ahead of models like Gemini Thinking (6.2%) and GPT-4o (3.3%), though it still falls short of OpenAI’s 26.6% score.

Despite its technological advancements, Perplexity is navigating growing legal scrutiny. The company has faced lawsuits from major media organizations over claims of unauthorized content use. To counter this, it has started partnering with publishers like Time and Fortune to develop revenue-sharing agreements.

With AI research tools rapidly evolving, Perplexity’s bet on speed, affordability, and accessibility could make it a compelling alternative for users unwilling to shell out big bucks for enterprise-grade AI solutions.

One UI 7 is massively delayed, but One UI 8 might arrive sooner than you think

Samsung One UI 8 release

From being one of the fastest Android brands to release the latest OS updates to becoming one of the sluggish brands this year, Samsung has disappointed a lot with One UI 7. The stable rollout has been painfully slow, with no official timeline in sight and not a single Galaxy device updated to the stable version yet — leaving fans frustrated. However, things might not be that bad with One UI 8.

The massively delayed One UI 7.0 rollout has been raising doubts about whether Samsung will be able to deliver One UI 8.0 on time. Well, that seems good for now, as per initial information shared by reputable Samsung tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce) on Twitter/X.

Ice Universe says One UI 8 will arrive sooner than previously thought. While he didn’t share specific details about the One UI 8 release, this suggests that the rollout might not be delayed by a quarter like One UI 7. This seems somewhat true, especially considering Google’s accelerated release timeline for Android 16.

Android 16 development is already live. In fact, Google has already released two public betas, which are currently accessible to eligible Pixel owners. The stable version is expected to be released towards the end of the second quarter. Samsung might release the One UI 8 sometime in the third quarter of 2025.

If you have one from the Galaxy S25 family, you should already be enjoying One UI 7 goodness. Older Galaxy users might need to wait at least until April to get the stable update. The wait could be longer for mid-range and cheaper Galaxy devices. If you’re in the One UI 7 waiting queue, review the eligible devices list to ensure your device is ready for the next big upgrade.

High-Rise, Low Signal? 5G performance in the world’s tallest buildings

5G Coverage in Iconic Skyscrapers: Study Reveals Strengths and Weaknesses

A new study by Ookla’s Cell Analytics™ examined 5G indoor coverage in nine famous skyscrapers worldwide. Skyscrapers pose challenges for telecom networks due to their height and construction materials. The study measured signal strength (RSRP) and quality (RSRQ) to evaluate 5G performance.

Best Performing Skyscrapers

Shanghai Tower in China leads in 5G coverage with an RSRP of -71.04 dBm, showcasing excellent signal strength. The building is well-optimized with small cells and a Distributed Antenna System (DAS), ensuring strong connectivity. Burj Khalifa in the UAE follows closely with an RSRP of -85.53 dBm and RSRQ of -11.07 dB, benefiting from Dubai’s advanced 5G infrastructure. The Empire State Building in the USA also ranks among the best with an RSRP of -83.19 dBm and RSRQ of -11.95 dB, having been upgraded with modern telecom infrastructure.

Skyscrapers with Weaker 5G Coverage

The Shard in the UK has the weakest signal among all buildings, with an RSRP of -96.69 dBm and the bottom 10% RSRP reaching -113 dBm, leading to poor coverage in some areas. Its heavy use of glass significantly affects signal penetration. Taipei 101 in Taiwan and the Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia have good average RSRP, but weaker signals in certain areas, with the bottom 10% RSRP below -100 dBm. Taipei 101’s thick concrete and steel construction block signals, while the Petronas Twin Towers lack a dedicated 5G indoor solution. One World Trade Center in the USA and Autograph Tower in Indonesia offer RSRP around -85 dBm, indicating very good coverage, though some areas still experience weak signals or dead zones.

5G Signal Performance at Different Heights

In skyscrapers like Burj Khalifa, Taipei 101, Empire State Building, and One World Trade Center, there is minimal difference in signal strength between floors, with variations of 3 dBm or less. For instance, Burj Khalifa’s RSRP on the bottom floor is -77.09 dBm, while the top floor sees a slight improvement at -76.30 dBm. However, in Petronas Twin Towers, Lotte World Tower, and Autograph Tower, there is a significant drop in signal strength on higher floors. Petronas Twin Towers’ RSRP drops from -80.44 dBm on the bottom floor to -92.67 dBm at the top, due to its reliance on outdoor towers. Similarly, Lotte World Tower’s RSRP weakens from -71.14 dBm at the bottom to -92.54 dBm at the top.

Challenges for 5G in Skyscrapers

The main obstacles to 5G coverage in skyscrapers are building materials like glass, concrete, and steel, which block signals. High-frequency 5G bands (mmWave) struggle with penetration, leading to dead zones in certain areas or floors. These factors make achieving consistent coverage difficult.

Solutions to Improve Indoor 5G Coverage

To address these issues, telecom providers can deploy small cells and Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) to enhance indoor network coverage. Upgrading indoor network infrastructure can help distribute signals more effectively. Additionally, Wi-Fi offloading can provide a seamless experience by supporting connectivity in areas where 5G signals are weak.

Shanghai Tower stands out as the leader in 5G coverage among skyscrapers. While most buildings offer good connectivity, some still have weak spots. To ensure full 5G coverage, better indoor network solutions are required. Collaboration between operators and developers is crucial for improving connectivity. Ookla’s Cell Analytics™ helps identify and resolve coverage gaps, contributing to more reliable 5G networks in skyscrapers.
