Changelog Summary

  • Interconnection: Adds Touch to Share for iOS and BeaconLink for short-distance calling.
  • System: Improves stability and integrates the January 2025 Android security patch.

How to Access BeaconLink

  1. Navigate to Settings > Mobile Network > BeaconLink.
  2. Set your display name and calling preferences.
  3. Enable Bluetooth, Quick Connect, and Interconnect Security Services.
  4. Grant permissions for Phone, Notifications, Contacts, and Bluetooth access.

iQOO 14 series and Neo 11 battery details surface in new leak

iQOO has reportedly begun work on its 2026 flagship, the iQOO 14. While the current lineup lacks a Pro model, an earlier report suggests that the company’s next flagship series will include two devices: a standard version and a Pro variant.

Now, a new leak from tipster Digital Chat Station sheds light on the battery and charging specs of the iQOO 14 series, along with details about the company’s upcoming Neo lineup, specifically the iQOO Neo 11.

iQOO 14 and Neo 11 may feature 7,000mAh batteries

According to the leak, the iQOO 14 and 14 Pro might feature a 7,000mAh battery, a notable upgrade from the already massive 6,000mAh cell in the iQOO 13. However, charging speeds are expected to remain unchanged from their predecessors.

But that’s not all—iQOO may also be working on another device with an even larger battery. A 7,500mAh behemoth is rumored to be coming as a successor to the Neo 10—smartphones often referred to as flagship killers. These devices could be powered by MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 9400+ or 9500 chipsets and are expected to support 90W fast charging. If true, iQOO could be gearing up for some of the largest smartphone battery capacities yet.

Beyond the battery upgrades, the iQOO 14 series is expected to debut flat Samsung OLED panels—a shift from the BOE and Visionox OLED screens used in the iQOO 13 and 12 series. This change could bring improvements in display quality, brightness, and efficiency.

As for the iQOO Neo 11, details remain scarce. However, we’ll keep you updated as soon as more information emerges.

Samsung developing Galaxy Buds with cameras: claims new report

Samsung launched its Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro back in July last year with a major redesign. Instead of the rounded design of the first two generations, now it contains a stem. The Pro model also has a light strip, which gives it a unique look and differentiates it from the AirPods and other competitors. But as it turns out, Samsung isn’t stopping here. They have some pretty ambitious goals for the wearable.

Galaxy Buds 3 Pro
Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro

Future Galaxy Buds to equip cameras

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Samsung has plans to add cameras to Galaxy Buds, which is expected to add some new capabilities to it alongside offering a good listening experience.

Although, it’s important to note that the concept isn’t entirely new. Apple is also rumored to have similar plans for its AirPods Pro 3, which should launch sometime this fall. Unfortunately, Gurman didn’t reveal anything about the functionalities Samsung is aiming to implement with the camera.

According to earlier reports, Apple’s plan is to implement in-air gesture controls with IR cameras, which will definitely improve human-machine interaction.

Apple and Meta also have similar plans

Meta is also wireless earbuds with cameras, called ‘Camera Buds’. This one will apparently let users “look at an object and ask the earbuds to analyze the item.” According to reports from last year, Meta’s prototype suffered from poor viewing angles and visibility problems with people who have long hair. Above all, adding cameras means increasing the processing and power requirement.

Personally, I’m curious to see how the design and appearance will change with this addition, and, more importantly, how comfortable it will be. Nonetheless, the very existence of Ray-Ban Meta AI Glasses proves that it’s possible to add cameras to such a compact device.

While not much is known about Samsung’s implementation, judging from the industry trends, we may expect similar features in Samsung’s offering. A report from Sammobile also speculates “Samsung’s Galaxy Buds with cameras might act as a stop-gap alternative to smart glasses.”

That said, there is no word on when to expect Samsung’s camera-enabled earbuds to hit the market. At this point, we only expect the product to hit the shelves for sometime in the near future. For more daily updates, please visit our News Section.

Lei Jun announced Xiaomi’s full support for subsidy policies, boosting sales 4x

Xiaomi has announced its active participation in the government’s new subsidy program aimed at making digital devices more affordable. The program, introduced by China’s Ministry of Commerce, provides subsidies on products like smartphones, tablets, and smart wearables, lowering the cost for consumers.

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun

Xiaomi Aligns with Subsidy Policies for Wider Consumer Benefits

Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s CEO, confirmed via Weibo that the company is geared up to fully embrace the subsidy policies. This includes a strategic price reduction across their product lines to align with the subsidy’s requirements while ensuring adequate product availability.

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra has seen a price cut of 500 yuan ($69), bringing its starting price down to an appealing 5,999 yuan ($825). This adjustment positions it perfectly to meet the eligibility threshold for a 15% subsidy, effectively reducing the consumer price further to 5,499 yuan ($756).

The impact of this initiative is already evident. Lu Weibing, a key executive at Xiaomi, revealed that daily smartphone sales have surged by 400%, while foot traffic at Xiaomi stores has increased by 55% since the subsidy program began. The Redmi K80 series has been a standout performer, with its sales growing exponentially as a result of the policy.

The subsidy applies to a broad selection of Xiaomi’s products, including the Xiaomi 15 and 14 series, the Xiaomi Mix Flip, and models from the Redmi lineup, such as the Redmi K80 series and Redmi Note 14 Pro.

It also extends to tablets and wearables, including the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro and Xiaomi Watch S4. This wide coverage ensures that many of Xiaomi’s newest products are now more accessible to consumers.

Xiaomi has also launched a special Spring Festival Gift edition of the Xiaomi 15 Custom Edition in Rouge Red, featuring festive packaging and added incentives like double movie tickets. Priced at 4,499 yuan ($618) after a 500-yuan subsidy, this high-end model with 16GB RAM and 512GB storage supports extensive customization with 20 colors and 40 combinations.

China is making significant strides in artificial intelligence and robotics, with the introduction of ‘Xiaotie’, the country’s first humanoid passenger service AI robot in the railway system. This innovative robot, developed by the China Railway Xi’an Bureau Group Co., Ltd., has officially taken office at the Xi’an Railway Station, marking a new era in travel services. Xiaotie’s debut coincided with the Spring Festival travel rush, providing much-needed assistance during one of the busiest travel seasons in China.

A friendly humanoid bot at the railway station

Standing at 1.5 meters tall, Xiaotie is designed to resemble a Q-version railway passenger attendant, complete with short hair, big eyes, and a railway uniform. Its friendly appearance is complemented by its mobility, as it moves through the station on a balance bike. Xiaotie offers consultation, guidance, and navigation services to passengers, making it a helpful companion for travelers. Equipped with advanced AI large model technology, the robot interacts seamlessly with passengers and uses a tablet to display synchronized answers. It can even lead passengers to their destinations within the station.

Operational Efficiency

Xiaotie operates daily from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, ensuring consistent support for travelers. When its battery runs low, it automatically seeks out a charging station, demonstrating its self-sufficiency. In the future, there are plans to deploy Xiaotie at ticket gates to assist with tasks like ticket inspection, enhancing its utility in the railway system. Its patent-protected design ensures its uniqueness in the field.

Google Pixel 11a in the works! Codename revealed

Google might already be working on the Pixel 11a model despite the Pixel 9a and Pixel 10a still being a while away from release. The codename for this upcoming budget Pixel phone has just been revealed. So here’s everything you need to know.

Google Pixel 11a codename hints at its active development

According to an AndroidHeadlines report, the Pixel 11a will also stick with the bear themed codenames as its predecessors. The device was reportedly spotted with the Formosan codename. To recall, the Pixel 11 might be internally referred to as Cubs, Pixel 11 Pro is Grizzly, and Pixel 11 Pro XL is Kodiak. The Pixel 11a would likely launch after the Pixel 11 series, so we can expect it to debut in 2027.

Google Pixel 9a
Google Pixel 9a leaked renders

For those unaware, the Formosan here should refer to the Formosan Black Bear, which is a bear native to Taiwan. In one of our earlier reports, it was rumored that the Pixel 11a and Pixel Tablet 3 will not feature the same Tensor chipset as the flagship models, which has been the norm so far. Meaning, it would get an inferior Tensor SoC along with downgraded AI performance.

Unfortunately, the Pixel 11a is still quite far away from launch so finer details like its specs, design, and other aspects are still at large. So it is odd that details regarding the Pixel 11a has surfaced ahead of the unreleased Pixel 9a and even the Pixel 10a. This is all the information we have at the moment, so stick around for more.

Netflix gets more expensive as the streaming service hits over 300 million subscribers

Netflix is by far the most popular online streaming platform out there. But despite its global dominance, the video streaming service has raised the pricing once again. The service is getting more expensive for both the standard and premium users. So here are the new pricing details.

Netflix Pricing Hiked in 4 Countries

Netflix’s user base is already complaining about the constant price hikes, but it is still getting more expensive for users in 4 markets. In the brand’s latest earning report earlier this week, Netflix revealed the subscription cost for its service in the US, Portugal, Argentina, and Canada. According to Netflix spokesperson MoMo Zhou, the monthly standard price for the plan with ads is now 7.99 US Dollars, up from 6.99 US Dollars.

Netflix
Netflix

On the other hand, the standard ad-free tier is increasing from 15.49 US Dollars to 17.99 US Dollars. The premium Netflix plan is getting a 2 US Dollar price bump, bringing it up to 24.99 US Dollars a month. As per the official statement, “As we continue to invest in programming and deliver more value for our members, we will occasionally ask our members to pay a little more so that we can re-invest to further improve Netflix.”

The price rise at the start of 2025 kicks off, which also arrives soon after the company announced that its streaming service hit 302 million subscribers globally. In just the last quarter of last year, the streaming platform managed to bring in a whopping 19 million new subscribers. So despite the brand claiming it finished 2024 on a high, the Netflix service is still getting more expensive.

Xiaomi 15 series leads the premium market with over 2 million sales

Xiaomi’s 15 series flagship smartphones are on fire, hitting a massive milestone of over 2 million units sold, cementing their dominance in the premium smartphone market. This is a clear win for Xiaomi, proving its strategic edge and massive consumer appeal.

Xiaomi 15 series

Dominating the Premium Segment

Leaked sales numbers from tipster Digital Chat Station reveal that Xiaomi’s 15 series is the only premium flagship lineup to cross the 2 million mark until January 12. Coming in second is Huawei’s Mate 70 series, with nearly 1.5 million units sold, a figure that shows its strong market presence. Vivo and Oppo take the third and fourth spots, clocking in sales of 1.2 million and 1 million units, respectively.

Xiaomi 15 series sales data

So, what’s driving the Xiaomi 15 series’ success? It’s all about the “blockbuster product” strategy, spearheaded by Xiaomi Group VP Lu Weibing. Instead of flooding the market with numerous options, Xiaomi focused its resources on crafting standout devices with killer specs and it’s paying off big time. Both Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro are packed with top-notch performance, next-gen cameras, and sleek designs that have clearly resonated with buyers seeking a premium smartphone experience. With the Ultra variant rumored to launch in February, sales are poised to climb even higher.

Meanwhile, Huawei’s Mate 70 series has made waves too, despite being a late entrant in 2024’s flagship lineup. Analysts are already predicting lifetime sales to hit 10 million units, thanks to Huawei’s rock-solid brand value and a relentless focus on innovation. This proves that Huawei’s comeback game is strong, especially after years of grappling with US sanctions.

Speaking of comebacks, Huawei has officially reclaimed the top spot in China’s smartphone market, snatching an 18.1% market share in Q4 2024, according to Counterpoint Research. That’s a huge turnaround for the brand, with the Nova 13 and Mate 70 series driving growth through a heavy focus on self-reliance and domestic chip production.

Xiaomi isn’t far behind with a 17.2% share, followed closely by Apple at 17.1%, though Apple saw a significant 18.2% decline in sales. Vivo, Honor, and Oppo round out the leaderboard. While the overall market dipped 3.2% in Q4, 2024 still saw 1.5% annual growth, with Vivo leading the year with a 17.8% share, followed by Huawei (16.3%) and Xiaomi (15.7%).

Smartphone repair costs: Is insurance worth It in 2025?

Smartphones have become essential tools for modern life. We rely on them for everything from communication and work to entertainment and navigation. But with their sleek designs and increasingly complex technology, these pocket-sized computers come with a hefty price tag. And when accidents happen – a cracked screen, water damage, or even theft – the cost of repairs can be a significant financial burden. This begs the question: is smartphone insurance worth it in 2025?

The answer, like most things in life, is nuanced. It depends on a variety of factors, including your phone’s value, your lifestyle, your financial situation, and the specific terms of the insurance policy. Let’s break down the key considerations to help you make an informed decision.

1. Understanding the rising cost of repairs

Modern smartphones are marvels of technology, featuring high-resolution AMOLED displays, advanced processors, sophisticated camera systems, and cutting-edge materials. While these features enhance user experience, they come with hefty repair price tags if damaged. For example:

  • Screen replacements: Replacing a flagship AMOLED or LTPO display can cost anywhere between Rs 15,000 and Rs 30,000 or more, depending on the model.
  • Battery replacements: With newer models prioritising slim designs and glued-in components, battery replacement costs range from Rs 5,000 to Rs 12,000.
  • Camera repairs: Damaged multi-sensor camera systems, especially those with periscope zoom lenses, can cost over Rs 10,000 to fix.
  • Water damage: Despite many devices offering water resistance, severe water damage often leads to repair costs exceeding Rs 20,000.

As smartphones integrate more advanced technologies, repair costs are expected to climb further. For premium devices like the iPhone 16 Pro Max or Galaxy S24 Ultra, repair expenses can rival the cost of mid-range smartphones.

2. What does smartphone insurance cover?

Smartphone insurance is designed to reduce the financial burden of unforeseen repairs or replacements. While coverage varies depending on the provider, most policies include:

  • Accidental damage: Protection against drops, cracked screens, and physical damage.
  • Liquid damage: Coverage for water or other liquid-related accidents.
  • Theft or loss: Some policies extend coverage to theft or loss, though this may increase premiums.
  • Mechanical failures: Repairs or replacements for issues not covered by manufacturer warranties.

Additionally, many insurance providers offer perks such as free doorstep pickup and delivery, quick turnaround times, and access to authorised service centre

3. Benefits of smartphone insurance

  1. Cost savings: For premium smartphones, insurance can save you thousands of rupees in repair or replacement costs.
  2. Peace of mind: Insurance provides reassurance, especially if you frequently travel or work in environments prone to accidents.
  3. Convenience: Many policies come with hassle-free claim processes, ensuring minimal disruption.
  4. Extended coverage: Unlike standard warranties, insurance often covers accidental damage and theft, which are typically excluded by manufacturers.

4. Factors to consider before buying smartphone insurance

While smartphone insurance can be beneficial, it’s essential to weigh the pros and cons before committing. Here are key factors to consider:

  1. Device value: Insurance is most worthwhile for high-end smartphones with expensive repair costs. For budget or mid-range phones, the cost of insurance might outweigh the potential benefits.
  2. Premiums and deductibles: Compare the monthly or annual premium and deductibles (out-of-pocket costs during claims) to ensure the policy provides value for money.
  3. Policy coverage: Carefully review what is included and excluded in the policy. Some insurers may exclude cosmetic damage or limit the number of claims.
  4. Repair service quality: Confirm that the insurance provider partners with authorised service centres to ensure quality repairs and genuine parts.
  5. Claim process: Research customer reviews to gauge the efficiency and reliability of the claims process.
  6. Lifestyle factors: If you frequently upgrade your phone, work in risky environments, or travel extensively, insurance might be more valuable.

5. Alternatives to smartphone insurance

If you’re unsure about purchasing insurance, there are other ways to manage repair costs:

  • Manufacturer extended warranties: Many brands offer extended warranty plans that cover manufacturing defects and hardware failures.
  • Protective accessories: Investing in high-quality screen protectors and rugged cases can significantly reduce the likelihood of damage.
  • DIY repair funds: Setting aside a small amount each month can help you build a repair fund, providing a cushion for unexpected expenses.

6. Is smartphone insurance worth it in 2025?

Whether smartphone insurance is worth it ultimately depends on your device, usage habits, and risk tolerance. For flagship devices like the iPhone 16 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6, Z Fold 6, Galaxy S24 Ultra, or OnePlus Open, insurance can offer valuable protection against expensive repairs. On the other hand, for users with mid-range or budget devices, investing in protective accessories and setting up a DIY repair fund may be a more cost-effective solution.

In 2025, with the rising cost of smartphone repairs and the increasing sophistication of devices, insurance can be a valuable tool for protecting your investment. But it’s essential to do your research, compare policies, and understand the terms and conditions before making a commitment. And remember, proactive protection and responsible phone usage can go a long way in preventing costly damage and minimizing the need for insurance in the first place.

The Oppo Find N5 variants, with model numbers PKH110 and PKH120, have been approved by the 3C certification platform in China. The PKH110 is the standard version of the device, recently spotted on Geekbench with the 7-core Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.

On the other hand, the PKH120 variant has support for satellite connectivity. According to the 3C certification, both variants are expected to ship with the VCB80ACH charger, which supports up to 80W fast charging. This is a notable upgrade compared to the Find N3, which offered 67W fast charging.

In addition to faster wired charging, the Find N5 will support 50W wireless charging and is expected to house a larger 5,700mAh battery. For comparison, the Find N3 featured a smaller 4,805mAh battery and did not offer wireless charging, making the Find N5 a substantial upgrade in terms of battery and charging technology.

Recent teasers have revealed that the Find N5 will arrive with an IPX6/X8/X9-rated water-resistant chassis. Equipped with a titanium build, the N5 is said to be the world’s thinnest foldable phone measuring around 4.2mm in the unfolded state.

Both models promise impressive features at affordable prices, catering to users looking for performance, durability, and modern connectivity. This comparison highlights their strengths and differences, helping you decide which one suits your needs better. Whether you prioritize display quality, performance, or battery life, this guide simplifies the decision-making process, ensuring you make an informed choice.

1. Design and Display

Remi 14c 5G

The Redmi 14C 5G features a larger 6.88-inch IPS LCD with 120Hz refresh rate, offering smoother visuals. It boasts a durable build with splash and dust resistance, catering to everyday durability. The Realme C63 5G, though slightly smaller at 6.67 inches, provides a better screen-to-body ratio (85.1%) and a more vivid 625 nits brightness in HBM. Both models have HD+ resolutions but differ in pixel density, with Realme offering a slightly sharper display.

Realme’s slightly better brightness and screen-to-body ratio make it more appealing for vibrant visuals, while Redmi’s larger screen could suit multimedia enthusiasts better.

Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 confirmed to be manufactured by TSMC, report claim

Qualcomm‘s latest flagship processor, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, is built using TSMC’s third-generation 3nm (N3E) process. It seems like Qualcomm is staying with a reliable partner for its next chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, as rumors suggested it would be manufactured using TSMC’s more advanced 3nm N3P process.

A new report by Gamma’s Hardware information (via Jukanlosreve) confirms that the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will indeed be manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm (N3P) technology. This suggests that Qualcomm is still hesitant to move to Samsung Foundry for chip production.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 reportedly has model number SM8850 and codename Kaanapali. The report also indicates that Samsung apparently made an effort to produce the 8 Elite 2 using its own manufacturing process, which supposedly had the codename “KaanapliS.”

However, according to the report, “KaanapliS” is no longer showing up in logistics data, suggesting that the rumored Samsung-produced SM8850 won’t be a reality. As a result, production of the 8 Elite 2 has shifted to TSMC, with the codename “KaanapaliT” – the “T” presumably signifying TSMC production.

What we know about Snapdragon 8 Elite 2

According to previous reports, the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 will support ARM’s SME, an instruction set that enables processors to handle complex workloads more efficiently. This could significantly improve single-core performance, potentially bringing Qualcomm in line with Apple’s M4 chip.

In addition to SME support, both chipsets are rumored to be manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm N3P process, which is expected to improve both performance and efficiency. Interestingly, Apple’s rumored A19 chip is also expected to use the same 3nm process.

Snapdragon-8-Elite

The Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 is also rumored to feature performance cores clocked at up to 5.00GHz, with a single-core Geekbench score of 4000 points.

However, these claims remain speculative for now, as actual performance can only be confirmed once the chipsets launch and undergo benchmarking. Even then, benchmark scores often fail to fully reflect real-world performance.
