Two Decades of Design in One Place: Nokia Launches Online Museum of Its Devices

It’s no secret that mobile phones have come a long way since their early days. But no matter how powerful today’s smartphones get, they just don’t hit the same way those chunky, indestructible classics did. Now, there’s a chance to relive those golden years of mobile design, thanks to the newly launched Nokia Design Archive.

This digital collection, spearheaded by Aalto University in Finland, brings together sketches, photos, interviews, and videos from Nokia’s design journey between the mid-1990s and 2017.

Nokia Design Archive

It features over 700 curated entries spanning from the mid-1990s to 2017, including sketches, photos, presentations, and even interviews.  But that’s not all – there’s also an uncurated repository with a staggering 20,000 items and 959GB of digital files!

Nokia Design Archive is a trip down memory lane

For anyone who grew up with a Nokia in their pocket, this is a nostalgia goldmine. The archive includes early concept sketches, mood boards, and product presentations—offering an inside look at how some of the most iconic mobile devices took shape.

It’s not just about reminiscing over the 3310 or the N-Gage; it’s about understanding how those designs were shaped by user behavior and technological shifts.

Nokia 5100

“In the early ages of Nokia, there was a genuine wish to understand people, how they live, what makes them tick,” said Professor Anna Valtonen, the lead researcher behind the project. “Now we’re at a similar point of societal transformation with AI. Nobody has concretized what it is yet, but we need to get people thinking about what could be.”

Visiting the archive feels a bit like floating through Nokia’s design history in an interactive word cloud. It covers topics like Mobile Games and Gaming—giving insight into the birth of the legendary Snake game—as well as Phones, Fashion, and Accessories. Users can filter the collection by products, aesthetics, design processes, and strategy, or dive into specific years to see how Nokia’s vision evolved.

iPhone 17 Air and Galaxy S25 Slim could stand out as the smallest battery phones of 2025

Smartphone makers have always been in a race to achieve something remarkable—be it better cameras, powerful chipsets, or slimmer designs. But when it comes to slimness, battery life appears as the price to pay. Rumors suggest that Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 Air and Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Slim will feature ultra-thin designs.

iPhone 17 Air

According to renowned Weibo tipster DCS, both devices are rumored to be around 5.x mm to 6.x mm thick, significantly slimmer than their predecessors—the Galaxy S24 and iPhone 16—both of which measure over 7.5mm in thickness.

Slimmer designs, smaller batteries

The iPhone 17 Air is rumored to go all-in on its slim profile, possibly trading off features like a multi-camera setup for a single rear camera. And now, leaks suggest that it’ll also pack a battery somewhere between 3,000mAh and 4,000mAh. Although it seems like a decent number for an iPhone, consider the fact that the 7.8mm iPhone 16 carries a battery with only 3561 mAh capacity.

But Apple isn’t the only one cutting down. Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Slim, another ultra-slim contender, might also land in the same boat. Despite an earlier claim of a 5,000mAh battery (matching the much bulkier Galaxy S25 Ultra), tipster Digital Chat Station reports that the Galaxy S25 Slim (CAD renders) will also feature a capacity somewhere between 3000mAh to 4,000mAh.

The idea of squeezing larger batteries into such thin frames isn’t impossible—high-density silicon-carbon (Si/C) battery tech could help—but neither Apple nor Samsung seems ready to adopt it yet.

What does it mean for the two devices?

The rumored battery capacities are underwhelming, especially in a market where even mid-range Chinese phones are gearing up to launch with 7,500mAh batteries. Without high-capacity cells, Apple and Samsung will have to rely heavily on limiting the peak performance to extend battery life.

In fact, the Galaxy S25 Slim was recently spotted on Geekbench with the lowest scores of all the Galaxy S25 models, despite using the same Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. This suggests potential performance throttling to save battery and prevent overheating in such a slim form factor. This is a tradeoff that may even affect some regular use cases like high-resolution video recording.

According to the tipster, Chinese brands are also working on similar slim models but with at least 5,000mAh batteries.

Apple iPhone SE 4 dummy unit leaked with an iPhone 4-like design

The upcoming iPhone SE 4 is expected to be one of the best value iPhones in 2025. Over the last couple of months, we have covered various rumors and reports regarding this budget iPhone. And now, the latest leak has revealed design details thanks to new dummy renders. The next gen SE 4 might feature a design reminiscent of a very old Apple iPhone, so let’s check it out.

Apple iPhone SE 4: A Modern iPhone 4?

Apple iPhone SE 4
Apple iPhone SE 4

The Cupertino based giant’s new iPhone SE 4 was just spotted in a fresh leak shared by tipster Sonny Dickson on X (formerly Twitter). In the tweet, we can see the back of the smartphone in two color variants and even get a look at its side profile. There have already been various rumors regarding Apple offering just a single camera at the back, but its the design that caught my eye.

At first glance, the iPhone SE 4 reminded me of a near 15 year old phone. Back in June 2010, the iPhone 4 was first debuted and the iPhone SE 4 just looks like a modern remake of the same. Some have even compared it to the Google Nexus 5 and even the other resemblance seems fair. The dummy units carry a flat rear panel made with glass but with rounded corners.

Apple iPhone SE 4

On the other hand, the frame on the sides employs metal for a more premium build. The volume rockers and alert slider can also been seen along with the SIM card slot. Based on what we know so far, the iPhone SE 4 may cost under $500 thanks to Apple’s custom 5G model. Recent leaks have even confirmed some of its key specs like 6.06-inch LCD screen, A18 chipset, and 48MP Sony Exmor IMX904 sensor on the rear, and a 12MP selfie camera on the front.

During the third quarter of 2024, Apple managed to dominate the Chinese smartphone market. But it seems like the brand was overtaken by two domestic brands in the very next quarter. The iPhone maker saw a decline in Q4 2024, so here’s what we know so far.

Apple loses market lead in the Chinese smartphone market to Vivo and Huawei

According to a report from Canalys, the Cupertino based giant was dethroned by two domestic brands. Apple lost the lead to Vivo, who was the new market leader, and Huawei (the runner up). Huawei was the only runner up back in Q3 2024, but Vivo managed to surpass both brands the next quarter. In the Chinese smartphone market, Vivo took the lead with a 17 percent market share.

On the other hand, Huawei came with a 16 percent market share while Apple accounted for around 15 percent of the market. As per the report, Apple saw a decline in the Chinese market since the iPhones lacked support for functions from AI powered features. This made it less attractive to prospective buyers in the region, especially considering Chinese smartphones are packed with AI features. Considering how ChatGPT is banned in China, AI is quite crucial and is likely what led to the sizeable annual sales drop of 25 percent.

Due to this, the company recorded the worst annual sales in the Chinese market, according to Canalys senior analyst Zhu Jiatao. Apple’s market position also faces multiple challenges from its competition. He further added that Huawei has continued to launch flagship models while the number of domestic foldable phones in China has surged at high prices. Xiaomi and Vivo are also building consumer loyalty through technological innovation. So it’s no surprise that Apple is seeing stiff competition in the premium segment.

Realme 14 Pro+ launches in India with Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, 6000mAh battery, and 3x periscope telephoto

Realme has just unveiled the Realme 14 Pro and Realme 14 Pro+ in India. While both phones offer a similar look with the color-changing back plate, a circular camera island, and the “MagicGlow Triple Flash”, the internal specifications make the Pro+ model stand out. In this article, we will be discussing how the higher-end model stands out from the standard one. You can check out the Realme 14 Pro here. But before we deep dive, let’s take a look at the basics first.

Realme 14 Pro+ color changing back

The Realme 14 Pro+ is all about blending style and substance. It comes in three stunning colors: Pearl White, Suede Grey, and an India-exclusive Bikaner Purple. The showstopper is the Pearl White variant with its cold-sensitive technology—watch it change from white to shades of blue when temperatures drop below 16°C. Cool, right?

Specs, design, and features: what sets the 14 Pro+ apart?

The Realme 14 Pro+ packs a 6.83-inch micro-curved AMOLED panel with a 1.5K resolution (2800×1272). This is bigger than the Pro’s 6.77-inch screen which also has a relatively lower FHD+ (2392×1080) resolution.

Under the hood, the Pro+ is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, which is a step up from the Dimensity chip in the Pro model. Both phones share the same Realme UI 6.0 based on Android 15 and a massive 6000mAh battery, but the Pro+ takes the lead with 80W fast charging, compared to the Pro’s 45W.

The camera department is where the Pro+ really shines. It boasts a 50MP Sony IMX896 (1/1.56″) primary camera, a 50MP 3x periscope lens that supports “120X SuperZoom”, and an 8MP ultra-wide sensor. Add to that a 32MP selfie camera, and you’ve got a pretty serious photography setup.

Extreme low light shot from main camera

While the standard model also benefits from Realme’s HYPERIMAGE+ image processing, it packs a smaller IMX882 main sensor (1/1.95″) which is paired with a basic 2MP monochrome lens. The selfie camera also has a lower 16MP resolution.

Pricing and availability:

The Realme 14 Pro+ starts at ₹29,999 for the 8GB+128GB variant, while the 8GB+256GB and 12GB+256GB options are priced at ₹31,999 and ₹34,999, respectively. With up to ₹4,000 in bank offers, you can grab one for as low as ₹25,999. For comparison, the Realme 14 Pro starts at ₹24,999 for the 8GB+128GB variant and ₹26,999 for the 8GB+256GB variant.

Besides Realme’s official website, the Pro+ model is also up for pre-booking on Flipkart, and official retail stores. If you’re looking for a feature-packed phone with a premium feel, the Realme 14 Pro+ might just be worth it.

Galaxy S25 series promo reveals new Galaxy AI features coming to Samsung phones

The Galaxy S25 series leaks are in full swing, and we are getting closer to knowing everything before the actual launch event. The specs are in, images are in, as well as the price—and even the official cases were revealed just recently.

As we approach the launch, the official promo materials for the devices have also started leaking.

The latest leak comes from Tecnoblog, which sheds light on the camera specifications, battery capacities, design, and some interesting AI features of the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra through these promo materials.

Here’s a rundown of the leaked specifications.

Reiterating specs

The leak confirms earlier rumors about the camera configurations. The Galaxy S25 and Plus will include a 12MP front camera along with a 50MP main, 12MP ultrawide, and a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.

The Ultra, while keeping the same selfie module, will be equipped with a 200MP main, 50MP ultrawide, a 10MP telephoto with 3x zoom, and another 50MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom.

The phone’s battery size will also remain similar to its predecessor, which naturally means the S25 Ultra will likely pack the biggest battery, followed by the S25 Plus and then the S25.

Moreover, the design seems to be in line with previous leaks, with all three phones sporting a flat frame, a flat screen, and incredibly thin bezels. The S25 Ultra looks to have slightly rounded corners compared to the sharper corners of the S25 and S25 Plus.

AI Features

While we already know the major specs, the leak reveals the new AI features coming to the Galaxy S25 series.

The promo shows that the phones will accept the “Hey Gemini” voice command and it looks like Gemini will be capable of performing tasks across multiple apps. For instance, you might be able to extract information from a YouTube video and create a Samsung Note using just a voice command.

The leaked image also reveals a new AI feature called “Now Brief.” As Android Authority notes, this seems like a revival of Google Now that will offer a personalized summary of your day.

The image suggests that Now Brief will include cards with weather information, suggestions for using different Galaxy features, a photo recap of your day, and activity goals.

Samsung Gets Rejected! TSMC Won’t Make Next-Gen Exynos Chips

Samsung might be facing another hurdle with its Exynos series. Samsung Foundry is rumored to completely skip the Exynos chipsets for its Galaxy S25 series of flagship phones, and it seems that things are not getting better anytime soon. A new report has claimed that TSMC has rejected Samsung’s deal to outsource Exynos production.

No Next-Gen Samsung Exynos Made by TSMC

To recall, there were rumors last year of Samsung finally deciding to outsource the production of Exynos chips to TSMC. There were internal talks for this change, which would’ve helped Samsung Foundry’s chip product. But it seems that this deal might not be following through. According to tipster @Jukanlosreve, the South Korean tech giant’s deal for Exynos production has been rejected by TSMC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company).

Unfortunately, there are still no details available regarding why TSMC rejected the Samsung deal for Exynos. With Samsung as its client, TSMC would’ve added another major tech giant like Apple, Nvidia, and Qualcomm, among others under its belt. Jukanlosreve claimed that the world’s largest contract chipmaker might have turned down the deal to better protect its internal workings.

For those unaware, Samsung Foundry is capable of manufacturing chips unlike fabless chip brands like AMD and Nvidia. So this move might help prevent any leak of its process or technology. Based on what we know so far, the entire Galaxy S25 lineup will launch with the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. So it might be a while before we see Exynos chips surface on next gen Samsung Galaxy phones. So stick around for more updates.
