Xiaomi unveiled the Smart Band 9 for the global market back in September 2024, while the Band 9 Pro was unveiled in China back in July. Earlier this month, we gave you all the reasons why the Xiaomi Smart Band 9 is better than cheap smartwatches. Now, let’s have a look at some of the best alternatives to this popular new smart band model.
Just like the Xiaomi Smart Band 9, the Fitbit Charge 6 is another fitness tracker that aims to help users achieve their health and wellness goals. However, it costs $149.95 and is a premium alternative to the Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro. We did make a comparison against the cheaper Xiaomi Smart Band 9. In that comparison, the Xiaomi Smart Band 9 clearly won in the price department, but did not offer advanced health tracking features and smart functionality that the Fitbit Charge 6 featured.
It is built with an accurate heart rate sensor, built-in GPS, and stress management tools thanks to sensors borrowed from the Google Pixel Watch. There is even an ECG app for monitoring atrial fibrillation. The Charge 6 arrives with Google Wallet integration, YouTube Music, and Google Maps support as well.

2. Redmi Band 3
Redmi Band 3
The Chinese tech giant has another budget smart band option from its budget sub brand Redmi. The Redmi Band 3 was launched in China back in October, making it a great option to consider for Chinese customers. It is available for just 159 yuan (roughly $22), which makes it even more affordable than the base Smart Band 9 from Xiaomi. For this price, you get a 1.47-inch display, 5ATM water resistance, NFC, built-in GPS, and support for over 50 sports modes.
There is also all-day heart rate tracking, sleep monitoring, and blood oxygen level mapping. The smart band operates on Xiaomi’s HyperOS and arrives with over 100 personalized watch faces. On a single full charge, the Redmi Band 3 can last for up to 18 days in standard mode and 9 days with heavy use.
3. Huawei Band 9
Huawei Band 9
Huawei is another brand that launched a fitness band this year. In April, the brand launched the Huawei Band 9 with a 1.47-inch AMOLED panel with Always On display support. The wearable arrives with up to 5ATM waterproofing and offers up to 14 days of battery life with typical use. Although, this can drop to just 9 days with intense use. The Band 9 offers over 100 spot modes for fitness enthusiasts.
It features TruSleep 4.0 for sleep analysis, a PPG sensor for monitoring heart health, and TruRelax for stress management. Huawei packed a new nine axis sensor for more accurate swimming metrics tracking and a specialized tracker for menstrual cycles as well. This model went on sale for 269 yuan or about 37 US Dollars.
The highly anticipated POCO F7 series will reportedly feature three models: the POCO F7, POCO F7 Pro, and the newly introduced POCO F7 Ultra. As the successor to the POCO F6, this series is expected to bring significant upgrades, and a recent leak has revealed exciting details about the base POCO F7 model.
Poco F7 chipset and battery details (rumored)
According to renowned tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) on Weibo, the POCO F7 will be powered by the yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 8s Elite chipset. This processor is reportedly a slightly underclocked version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, delivering performance superior to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and slightly below the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. While the chipset’s official debut is expected in early 2025, the POCO F7 is rumored to be among the first wave of devices to feature it, likely hitting the market in April 2025.
DCS also mentioned that phones with large 7,000mAh batteries will soon become a trend, and the POCO F7 could be leading the charge.
Additional leaks suggest the handset will sport a 1.5K LTPS AMOLED display, the Snapdragon 8s Elite chipset, and a 7,000mAh battery with 90W fast charging support. This combination of features positions the POCO F7 as a powerful mid-range contender with top-tier specifications.
Poco F6 Pro
Interestingly, the POCO F7 is expected to be a rebranded version of the rumored Redmi Turbo 4 Pro, while the Pro and Ultra variants might be based on the Redmi K80 and K80 Pro, respectively. While the POCO F7 may arrive in April 2025, its Pro and Ultra counterparts might debut slightly earlier.
The POCO F7 has already bagged the BIS certification in India under the model number 2412DPC0AI, indicating that its launch in the region is imminent. Previously spotted on the GSMA database and Singapore’s IMDA listing, the device’s connectivity features include 5G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and NFC support. This further confirms the global availability of the device.
For context, the POCO F6 launched in India earlier this year at a starting price of ₹29,999. Considering POCO’s pricing strategy, the F7 series could arrive in a similar price range, making it an attractive choice for budget-conscious consumers seeking high performance. With a likely launch timeline of mid-2025, the POCO F7 series is shaping up to be a game-changer in the mid-range smartphone segment.

The design resembles OnePlus’s premium smartphone lineup, featuring an aluminium frame. The glass back looks premium and houses a big camera module. The OnePlus 12 is slightly bigger and bulkier to accommodate a bigger display and battery.
This 6.82-inch AMOLED screen is one of the best you’ll find on flagship phones. It’s bright (even outdoors), sharp, and supports 120Hz refresh rate. The display also supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision for ehnanced vieweing experience.
The display is excellent, and so is the performance, thanks to the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip. It ensures all tasks run smoothly, even your favorite high-end games at higher settings. The chipset is paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage, which also contributes to top-notch performance.
OnePlus 12 takes excellent shots, especially with its primary camera. It delivers good results in daylight with excellent details, colors, and good dynamic range. The low-light performance is another plus point of this phone. The telephoto lens also produces excellent results at 3x zoom but struggles slihtly at 6x in low-light conditions. Video recording is also executed well, with good color balance and detail.
Battery backup is also a strong area of the OnePlus 12 as it easily lasts for more than a day on a single charge. Refilling it only takes about 26 minutes when using the 100W wired charger and about an hour with the 50W wireless charging.
Xiaomi is reportedly preparing to launch a new device with impressive battery and charging capabilities. According to popular tipster Digital Chat Station, the device features a dual-cell battery design with a combined rated capacity of 5,900mAh.
This setup is equivalent to a massive 12,000mAh single-cell battery, offering long-lasting power. Additionally, the device supports 120W fast charging, a feature that allows for significantly faster charging times compared to previous models.
Xiaomi’s Next Tablet: 12,000mAh Battery and 120W Charging
The exact model remains unconfirmed, but the device is speculated to be a new tablet. Earlier rumors suggested that Xiaomi might launch an OLED tablet in 2025, featuring an 11-inch display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a top-tier Snapdragon processor, up to 24GB of RAM, and 120W fast charging. The design is expected to resemble the Xiaomi Pad 6 series. While it’s possible this could be the rumored OLED tablet, nothing is certain yet, so take this information with a grain of salt.
The tipster also clarified that this tablet isn’t part of Xiaomi’s Redmi lineup and is expected to be priced around 4,000 yuan ($548). For reference, the current-generation Pad 7 Pro’s top variant (12GB + 512GB) is priced at 3,499 yuan ($479), indicating this new tablet could cater to the premium segment, competing directly with iPads.
Xiaomi unveiled the Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro alongside the Xiaomi 15 series in China in October. Both tablets feature an 11.2-inch 3K 144Hz anti-glare LCD screen with advanced eye protection and a paper-like texture for stylus use. The Pad 7 is powered by a Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 SoC, while the Pro version uses a faster Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC.
They run Xiaomi HyperOS 2, support PC-level multitasking, and include features like a floating keyboard with stepless adjustment and backlighting. The Pad 7 has a 13MP rear and 8MP front camera, while the Pro boasts a 50MP rear and 32MP front camera. Both models support Wi-Fi 7, Dolby Atmos, and fast charging, with the Pad 7 offering 45W and the Pro 67W charging capabilities. The Pad 7 series is also expected to land in India soon.

Samsung will reportedly release its next-generation flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S25 series, on February 7th next year. Packed with cutting-edge specifications and advanced AI capabilities, the Galaxy S25 series is expected to set new standards for flagship devices.
S25 Slim will reportedly launch alongside the other three models
According to industry sources, Samsung will host its ‘Galaxy Unpacked’ event in the United States at 3 am on January 23rd, Korean time. The event will showcase the Galaxy S25 series for the first time. Following the announcement, pre-orders will commence on January 24th and run until February 3rd. Pre-order customers will gain early access on February 4th, while the official launch in Korea is scheduled for February 7th.
This timeline deviates slightly from the Galaxy S24 series’ release earlier this year on January 31st, suggesting Samsung’s commitment to refining its product for a compelling launch. The Galaxy S25 series will consist of four models: base, Plus, Ultra, and the newly introduced Galaxy S25 Slim, which emphasizes reduced weight and thickness to cater to growing consumer preferences for sleek, lightweight designs. Surprisingly, a recent rumor claims that the phone could boast the same battery capacity as the larger and heavier Galaxy S24 Ultra.
The Galaxy S25 Slim marks Samsung’s return to ultra-thin devices, a concept last seen with the Galaxy Alpha in 2014. Although the exact thickness remains undisclosed, it is expected to be slimmer than the Galaxy S24’s 7.6mm.

Poco is expected to announce the Poco X7 and Poco X7 Pro smartphones in January 2025. It seems like the Poco X7 and X7 Pro might be rebranded versions of the Redmi Note 14 Pro and Redmi Turbo 4. The Turbo 4 is expected to remain exclusive to the Chinese market, whereas the Redmi Note 14 Pro and Poco X7 will both be available for purchase in multiple markets. Let’s dive into the similarities, potential differences, and ultimately, help you decide if the Poco X7 is worth choosing over its Redmi twin.
If the leaks are true, the Poco X7 and Redmi Note 14 Pro will share a striking number of similarities. Both are expected to boast the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Ultra processor. The Redmi Note 14 Pro, which has already launched, is available in two configurations: 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB. While a recent leak revealed that the Poco X7 will come with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of storage, its detailed configurations are not known yet.
The displays are anticipated to be identical – a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with support for a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Even the camera setup is rumored to be the same: a triple-lens system with an OIS-enabled 50-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro lens.
Like the Redmi Note 14 Pro, the Poco X7 is expected to run on HyperOS-based Android 14. A 5,500mAh battery with 45W fast charging powers the Note 14 Pro. On the other hand, a recent leak claimed that the X7 will pack a smaller 5,110mAh battery with 45W charging support.
2. The X Factor: Potential Differences
Redmi Note 14 Pro
While the core specs might be identical, there could be subtle differences. Poco might introduce minor design tweaks to differentiate the X7. Shown above is a leaked render that showcases the X7’s rear design and color options.
The most significant difference could be in pricing. There’s a possibility that the X7 may come in 12GB+256GB and 12GB+512GB configurations, similar to the X6. Poco often positions its devices as more affordable alternatives, so the X7 might undercut the Redmi Note 14 Pro. Like other Poco phones, the X7 will be sold via Flipkart in India. Interestingly, the Redmi Note 14 Pro is also available for purchase through the same platform.
3. The Decision: Poco X7 or Redmi Note 14 Pro?
Poco X7
So, should you choose the Poco X7 over the Redmi Note 14 Pro? Here’s a breakdown to help you decide:
Choose the Poco X7 if:
You want the best value: If the Poco X7 is priced lower than the Redmi Note 14 Pro, it might be the more budget-friendly option.
You prefer Poco’s branding and potential software tweaks: If you’re a fan of Poco’s design language or anticipate exclusive software features, the X7 might be more appealing.
Choose the Redmi Note 14 Pro if:
Phone with bigger battery: As mentioned before in this post, the Poco X7’s battery could be smaller than that of the Note 14 Pro.
You need wider availability: The Redmi Note 14 Pro might be more readily available in certain regions.
Readers should note that the details shared in this post are based on rumors surrounding the Poco X7, which may not be accurate. Therefore, it is advisable to take this report with a pinch of salt and wait for the official details to appear.

The latest one to get the HyperOS 2 treat is none other than the Poco X6 Pro. The global rollout starts with the EEA region, but it won’t be long before it reaches different parts of the world.
The HyperOS 2 update for the Poco X6 Pro is tagged with firmware version 2.0.2.0.VNLEUXM. It’s based on Android 15. Hence, in addition to HyperOS 2 features, you’ll get more new features directly from the development team at Google.
It’s a major update that weighs around 5.7GB in size. Hence, it’s recommended that you download it over a stable Wi-Fi connection. And before you hit the install button, ensure that the battery is at least 40% charged to avoid update failure.
To upgrade your Poco X6 Pro to the latest software, open the Settings app and go to the software update section. From there, you can check for a new update and download it. While he has not mentioned the name of the mysterious device, he claims that it is an upcoming Find series phone, but not the Find X8 Ultra, which is expected to pack a 6,000mAh battery.

So we have been wearing both HUAWEI Watch Ultimate and HUAWEI Watch GT5 for three months now, they are both the best smart watches I have tried. Here we want to share what the experiences are like, and since Christmas is coming, these could be really good gifts for your beloved ones.
Design and Build
HUAWEI Watch Ultimate
Highlights:
-Exquisite craftsmanship -Ultimate choice for businessman -Every accessory you want
The Ultimate, as the most high-end watch in the HUAWEI’s lineup, is indeed the ultimate choice for a businessman, anyone who favors a classic luxury watch design with modern smart features, or those of you who want to explore the mountains and seas in this world.
During the time I have it on my wrist, I received a lot of head turns everywhere, and some managed to come close and talk about it. So as we wrote about last time, the case is made of zirconium-based Liquid Metal, which is 4.5 times stronger than stainless steel, and 17% less in weight. The Bezel is made of Nano-microcrystalline ceramics, and even the extra metal strap that comes free in the box is made of titanium.
There are also three extra kinds of straps in the box, the Rubber Strap, the Diver Strap and the Woven Strap. For people who need to attend different events, or are into diving a lot, you will be happy to see such combination.
The Titanium Strap is for some formal event, or work. The Woven Strap can be used in some light sports events, like golfing or parties, as it is not only good-looking but also sweat-resistant. Then the Rubber Strap is for some intense sports like Tennis. Lastly, the Diver Strap, which has a longer piece, can be used in diving.
In the three months of experience with the Ultimate, I tried to change in between the first three straps, as they are for daily use, but if I get the chance to learn diving, then the diver strap will be on the watch for sure. Changing the straps is also very easy, there is a lock on the strap, so a gentle push will pop the strap out. And for different occasions, there are plenty of watch faces to choose from.
So overall, the HUAWEI Watch Ultimate is THE choice for elegance and versatility, being able to change straps and watch faces for different occasions are the extra you can’t get from a traditional mechanical watches. And since the HUAWEI Mate X6 has just been released, they can be your best picks for the top-notch experience.
HUAWEI Watch GT 5
Highlights:
-Still very good design -A balanced choice -Lightweight and powerful
The HUAWEI Watch GT 5 is kind of a balanced choice, as it still has that classical look, but with a thinner profile. The case is made of stainless steel, and sculpted perfectly with a geometric shape, and somehow the edges are both frosted and glossy in different parts. There are also buttons to navigate in between different features, so there aren’t anything missing from this one.
There is only one strap included in the package, which is the rubber and fabric mixed material, it is more sweatproof while maintaining a vintage design. If you want to have a different look, you can buy some third-party straps, I am sure there are plenty of them out there. The GT 5 is about 1/3 lighter than the Ultimate, when I tried to switch between them, I felt the weight difference. And honestly, this could be a good thing, as the GT 5 is better for sports tracking and everyday use. If you are a more active person, this one might be more suitable for you.
The GT 5 has 46mm and 41mm versions, and the design differs, I would say the 46mm is more for men, but the more rounded and sleek design of the 41mm is more for women. This means, maybe it can be a family watch.

Between the Ultimate and GT 5, I found myself reaching out to the lighter and slimmer GT 5, as it adapts to my day to day life better. But of course, if you are a business person, who often attend high-end events, then the Ultimate is the choice. And there are 46mm and 41mm versions in the GT 5 lineup, the whole family can wear both the Ultimate and the GT 5.
Features
HUAWEI Watch Ultimate
Golf Mode
For the very first time, there is a conventional-looking watch to have Golf mode on it, although it is not the first to do it, I bet it will convince a lot of people to switch to the HUAWEI Watch Ultimate. So as we talked about before, in the Golf Mode, it can record a lot of golf swing data, including swing speed, swing tempo, backswing time, and downswing time. You can even download maps of the golf courses, so you can be more confident about your next shot. These are things that no other smartwatch can do. Honestly I haven’t picked up a golf club much, but the time when I visited the HUAWEI health lab and the golf course, I was very impressed.
100 Meter diving mode
Another feature that I haven’t tried but I might try in the future, which is the 100 meter diving mode, and of course not that deep, just regular scuba diving. In the Diving mode, there are many specialized options that you can choose from, as well as science-based no-fly time suggestions. HUAWEI WATCH Ultimate is the first smartwatch to offer a 100-meter scuba diving mode, and the three crowns are also designed to make it easier for divers to operate the watch underwater. You know it’s not safe and almost impossible to use the touch screen, so the buttons and crowns are the go-to choice for divers. I hope someday I will be able to try the feature on the HUAWEI Watch Ultimate.
Health Tracking System
This is the feature that I interact with all the time every day, as I would constantly check the steps, my heart rate, and some other metrics within the day. And after a night of sleep, reading through the sleep report has also been a habit of mine, it certainly helps with me a lot. Also there is ECG. ECG has been very popular since a few years ago, because it really helps with detecting unusual heartbeat, and then sending a signal to potentially save lives. When you get older, many risks hidden underneath will reveal themselves, so it’s better to start tracking your health, they can be very useful when you see a doctor. The ECG feature built into the watch have been approved by many countries and official organizations, so it’s very reliable. Fortunately, I haven’t encountered any heart problems so far, but I will keep tracking the data for good.
Expedition Mode
This mode uses dual-band five-system GNSS, which allows you to get more accurate positioning. You can also use Offline Maps if you go to places where there is no GPS signal. If you ever go on a remote path, continuous location markings and Route Back navigation will get you back on track. Its task is simple, to record expedition data and keep you safe.
Ultra Long Battery Life
We are tired of having a one-day battery life on any smart wearables, by that you know which one I am referring to. So the Ultimate supports up to 14 days of use for maximum battery life, even if the AOD is on, it can still last for 4 days. If you are a businessman who travels a lot, you really don’t need to bring a charger most of the time. For some daily use, I don’t need to have the AOD on. If you need to attend some important event, you can have the AOD on, then it will be an attention grabber.
HUAWEI Watch GT 5
The most impressive thing about the GT 5 is that, it does not sacrifice much to have some features the Ultimate has. By that I mean, it has the Trusense system, Fitness tracking, and Super long battery life. So does it perform the same as the Ultimate, the answer is yes. Here is my experience with all these features:
Trusense System
It is the most sophisticated health tracking system I have tried, and it works perfect on my wrist, and in fact, since it’s lighter, I would enjoy more wearing it all day, while having the metrics recorded accurately. The lightness helps especially while sleeping, as you won’t feel much of its existence.
Fitness Tracking
Although you can change the straps for Ultimate, to make it a sports tracking watch instantly. But the strap on the GT 5 is better for many scenarios, so you can just go to the gym after work, it’s fine. And since it supports IP69K waterproofing, swimming is easy task for it.
Super Long Battery Life
If you are someone who cares about usage time, or you simply don’t have the habit of charging your devices, then maximum 14 days of battery life in the GT 5 is a good option. During my time with this watch, it usually lasted for more than a week, so I didn’t worry about the battery life at all.

Currently we don’t have the GT 5 Pro, so we can’t share the experience with you. But it comes some extra features that the GT 5 doesn’t have, which are the 40 Meter Diving capability, ECG, Golf Mode, and Titanium case. If you want a lightweight and powerful smartwatch, the GT 5 Pro could be your choice.

Verdict
So after using both the HUAWEI Watch Ultimate and the GT 5 for more than three months now, I was quite amazed by the luxurious build quality of the Ultimate, it has a conventional mechanical watch face, and smart features inside. I don’t think anybody would say no to such a watch after all, it can also track your health, fitness, and heart health, which we all need. For the GT 5, it could be a moderate choice for people who want the special look, but also need it to be light and smart. The GT 5 Pro is even a step closer to the Ultimate, with all the high-end features, but it also maintains a sleek body.
So as the Christmas is around the corner, if you are looking for some gifts for yourself or the family, then these watches are the perfect ones. Here are where you can find them, and there are some festival offers there. Hope you can find the right smart wearables in the holiday.
