With competitive pricing and powerful features, the Poco C75 5G is designed to provide a reliable 5G experience in the affordable smartphone segment. How does the Huawei Mate 70 Pro compare to the Oppo Find X8 Pro & Vivo X200 Pro

We just put up our Unboxing and Hands on video of the Huawei Mate 70 Pro. This smartphone is the brand’s latest flagship smartphone. But how does it compare to some other premium phones from China, which recently had their global debut? Here’s a quick comparison of the Mate 70 Pro with the Oppo Find X8 Pro and Vivo X200 Pro.

1. Design & Display

All three models are flagship grade smartphone models, which offer a premium feel. The form factor and screen are subjective, so it’s harder to find an objectively better phone here. The Mate 70 Pro, Find X8 Pro, and X200 Pro feature an aluminum frame and glass body. The smartphones support an IP68 and IP69 rating for water and dust resistance. These devices have a large circular camera module on the rear.

Although there’s a slight difference in screen size. None of these are compact flagship phones, but the Find X8 Pro and X200 Pro have a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 4500 nits of peak brightness. Meanwhile, the Mate 70 Pro packs a taller 6.9-inch LTPO OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, FHD+ resolution, and 2500 nits of peak brightness. So while the other two are brighter, one has a slightly taller display panel.

Both the Vivo X200 Pro and Oppo Find X8 Pro are premium smartphones with cutting edge specs. The duo are equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 SoC. These make it one of the fastest Android phones. However, the Mate 70 Pro is powered by a Kirin 9020 chipset. This processor isn’t bringing a major upgrade in performance. So the Mate 70 Pro still trails behind in this regard.

With the release of the HarmonyOS Next, Huawei is finally moving away from Android. A massive 6,000mAh battery pack powers the X200 Pro, while the Find X8 Pro has a 5,910mAh cell. Once again, the Mate 70 Pro lags behind with the smallest but still respectable 5,500mAh battery pack. But Huawei leads the pack with a 100W wired and 80W wireless fast charging. Oppo’s Find X8 Pro supports 80W wired and 50W wireless while Vivo X200 Pro offers 90W wired and 30W wireless fast charging.

3. Camera

Photography is one area where Huawei is renowned. But in recent years, many Chinese brands have started catching up. The Vivo X200 Pro and Oppo Find X8 Pro placed an emphasis on camera performance, with the former’s Zeiss APO Telephoto lens offering impressive zoom photography on a smartphone. For the main sensor, the Sony LYT808 on the Find X8 Pro and X200 Pro should offer similar levels of performance. But without a doubt, these are two flagship level camera phones.

Huawei isn’t bringing similar levels of ground breaking camera tech upgrades on the Mate 70 Pro. But it seems to be refining the overall experience. Its telephoto lens isn’t as versatile as its competitors, but the 50MP main sensor with a variable aperture gives it an edge in still shots in varying lighting scenarios.

4. Pricing

Last but not least, we have the pricing of these three phones. Huawei’s Mate 70 Pro is the most expensive out of the lot with a 6,499 Yuan (roughly 892 US Dollars) starting price. However, the Find X8 Pro and X200 Pro have an identical starting price of 5,299 Yuan (roughly 727 US Dollars).

So depending on your preference, your choice between the three might differ. If you want a true flagship experience with a display, camera, and more, the Mate 70 Pro could be for you in China. Although, the X200 Pro and Find X8 Pro are more affordable but still offer impressive performance, bigger batteries, better zoom, and much more.

Bypass charging: what and why?

Bypass charging allows the device to draw power directly from the power adapter, bypassing the battery entirely while the phone is under heavy load. This is especially useful for gaming, which involves significant power consumption. By not using the battery during gameplay, the phone not only preserves battery health but also reduces heat generation, ensuring smoother gameplay.

Tipster Digital Chat Station recently shared an image that includes OnePlus’s official description of this feature. The text, when translated, reads: “Bypass power supply supplies shunt power directly to the game, which can reduce the heat of the device. The bypass power supply stops after exiting the game.”

This confirms that bypass charging is aimed at improving thermal management and sustaining high performance during gaming without overloading the battery. Significant in context, gameplay test of the OnePlus Ace 5 has also showcased better than expected performance from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip.

Additionally, users will have the option to set the effective bypass charging value at 20%, 40%, 60%, or 80%. Once the battery falls below the selected threshold, the phone will switch to regular charging. It ensures that users aren’t caught off guard when their battery is low, even if they decide to play with that.

Key specifications of the OnePlus Ace 5 series

The OnePlus Ace 5 and Ace 5 Pro are largely identical in design and features. Both models come with a sleek 6.78-inch 1.5K resolution display, featuring an 8T LTPO panel protected by Crystal Shield glass. The phones are also equipped with a metal middle frame and OnePlus’s signature three-stage alert slider.

While the designs are consistent across both models, the key differences lie in their chips, batteries, and charging capabilities. The standard OnePlus Ace 5 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, paired with a 6415mAh battery and 80W fast charging support. On the other hand, the OnePlus Ace 5 Pro features the more powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite, a slightly smaller 6100mAh battery, but it supports an impressive 100W fast charging speed.

The BenQ RD320U sports a 4K IPS panel with a resolution of 3840×2160 and a 16:9 aspect ratio. It comes with a pixel density (PPI) of 140, ensuring sharp and crisp visuals that make it easier to identify and work with code.

While Realme is gearing up for the launch of the Realme 14 series in India tomorrow, a new leak suggests the company is also preparing to expand its Narzo lineup with a premium offering — the Narzo 80 Ultra. 

The leak comes from a report by 91Mobiles which details the storage variant, color options, and launch timeline for the smartphone.

The Narzo 80 Ultra will be the first phone in the Narzo series to carry the “Ultra” branding. Naturally, we are expecting it to be a more premium device compared to previous Narzo models. 

The phone reportedly carries model number, RMX5033, and is said to come in at least one color option – white gold. The base storage configuration is rumored to be 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, though additional RAM and storage variants might be revealed closer to launch. 

Last but not least, the leak suggests a late January 2025 launch timeframe for the Narxo 80 Ultra in India.

The Narzo 80 Ultra isn’t the only upcoming “Ultra” phone from Realme. Alongside the Narzo 80 Ultra, a separate report by 91mobiles suggests a new Realme P3 Ultra is also in the works

The P-series phone is expected to arrive in India around the same timeframe as the Narzo 80 Ultra. It will be available in a grey color option and a higher-end 12GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration.

Adding to the speculation, a new Realme phone with the model number RMX5032 (sequentially close to the Narzo 80 Ultra’s RMX5033) recently surfaced on the BIS certification website, hinting at an imminent Indian launch.  

The phone’s marketing name remains unclear, leaving room for speculation. It could belong to the Narzo 80 series, but there’s also a chance it might be an entirely different model altogether. We’ll share more details as they emerge.

Oppo is quietly working on Pad 3 Ultra and Pad 3 Mini, key spec leaks

Following the launch of the Pad 3 and Pad 3 Pro tablets, Chinese tech giant Oppo appears to be prepping an even wider range of options under the Pad 3 series. According to a Weibo post by reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, there are two new models of the Pad 3 in the works – the Pad 3 Ultra and Pad 3 mini.

The leak suggests that the Pad 3 Ultra will be a true flagship offering in the large-screen category. It’s rumored to boast a flexible OLED display with minimal bezels.

On the other end of the spectrum, the Pad 3 mini will cater to those seeking a powerful device in a compact form factor. It is tipped to feature a customized LCD display with a high refresh rate and rounded corners. 

Under the hood, Oppo is expected to use a MediaTek Dimensity 9-series SoC. While the exact chipset remains under wrap, it will be a flagship-grade, even if not necessarily the latest. The tipster also mentions that the Pad 3 Mini will not support 100W fast charging.

While the specs look promising, these tablets are unlikely to hit shelves anytime soon. The leak points to a tentative launch window in Q2 or Q3 of 2025.

Of course, leaks are just leaks. Until Oppo officially confirms these devices, take these specs with a grain of salt. Still, if you’re in the market for a new tablet and the current Pad 3 series doesn’t quite hit the mark, the Pad 3 Ultra and Pad 3 mini could be worth keeping an eye on in the coming year.

Vivo is reportedly preparing to launch a new compact mid-range smartphone next year that will feature a powerful Dimensity 9 series chip, a 6.31″ display, and impressive camera capabilities. Similar to the Civi 4 Pro, the Xiaomi Civi 5 Pro may also offer a circular camera module in the upper left corner, which will house a portrait telephoto shooter.

OnePlus 13 series to launch on this date globally, OnePlus 13R front, rear design revealed

The OnePlus 13R and 13 will succeed the OnePlus 12R and 12, which debuted at the beginning of this year in multiple markets. Both phones will run on the latest Android 15, flanked by ColorOS 15 UI.

Since the OnePlus 13 has already launched in China in October of this year, its specifications are already known. The company has revealed that, like the Chinese market, the OP13 will be available in blue, black, and white shades globally.

Redmi Turbo 4 surfaces in render with dual-camera cutout

News from China suggests Redmi’s performance-focused phone, the Turbo 4, has been delayed from its expected December launch. So while we may have to wait a bit longer, an image circulating on China’s social media platform Weibo claims to reveal the design of the phone. 

The image shows the alleged Turbo 4 featuring slim, symmetrical screen bezels, squared-off edges, and a dual rear camera setup. The punch-hole cutout for the front camera also appears small.  

However, if you take a closer look, doesn’t it resemble the Samsung Galaxy S24? Even the wallpaper looks similar. Since the leak doesn’t come from a reliable source, the accuracy of these details is uncertain. So, take this information with a grain of salt.

What we know so far

According to reports, the Redmi Turbo 4 will have a flat OLED panel that offers a 1.5K resolution. The 3C certification of the device has revealed that it may support 90W fast charging.

Powering the phone will be Dimensity 8400 chip, which is expected to include 1 x 3.25GHz Cortex-A725, 3 x 3.0GHz Cortex-A725, and 4 x 2.1GHz Cortex-A725 CPU cores. The SoC is rumored to launch on December 23. In terms of pricing, the device is likely to be priced between 1,500 Yuan (~$205) and 2,000 Yuan (~$275).

As for global availability, Redmi’s “Turbo” line has so far remained exclusive to China. But here’s where things get interesting. The Poco F6, a phone released earlier this year, was essentially a rebranded Redmi Turbo 3. This pattern suggests a strong possibility of the Redmi Turbo 4 finding its way to international markets under the Poco F7 moniker.

Reports have also revealed that Redmi may also announce the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro in the coming year. This phone is likely to feature the Snapdragon 8s Elite chipset.

Galaxy S24 Ultra’s unique anti-reflective display coating is peeling off within one year of normal usage

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, praised for its impressive anti-reflective display, is now facing issues with the anti-reflective coating. Less than a year after the phone’s release, the layer is beginning to peel off, particularly in areas most used for scrolling, and in some cases, around the edges of the screen.

He confirmed that the phone was not exposed to any external factors like keys or coins in his pocket, ruling out common causes of screen damage. However, the scuff marks were still visible, and other users chimed in with similar stories, indicating that the issue could be widespread.

Several other users shared images of their devices showing permanent marks caused by the worn coating, which appears to be susceptible to tiny scratches due to its relatively softer nature compared to the glass beneath. Hannes Brecher from Notebookcheck highlighted that the coating might be too delicate to withstand regular wear and tear, which could explain why so many users are encountering this issue so soon after purchasing the device.

No official response yet from Samsung

As of writing, Samsung has yet to comment on the issue, leaving users uncertain about whether the display damage is covered under warranty or if it’s a design flaw that might affect a larger number of Galaxy S24 Ultra units. There have been reports in the Samsung Community about the ‘oleophobic coating coming off.’ However, the company has refused to cover this under warranty, citing it as natural wear and tear.

In the meantime, users are advised to take extra care of the display. It is recommended to clean the screen only with a microfiber cloth, avoiding any cleaning solutions that could potentially damage the coating further. Oppo A5 Pro set to launch on December 24, specifications emerge via TENAA certification

Oppo has officially announced that the Oppo A5 Pro will be launched on Dec. 24 in China. Companies like Samsung and Google now promise four major OS updates and five years of security patches for many of their mid-range phones. The Pixel 8a, for instance, gets the same software support as the Pixel 8 Pro. Samsung’s Galaxy A-series phones also benefit from extended update policies.

This means you no longer need to pay flagship prices to enjoy long-term software support. Mid-range devices are catching up, giving you better longevity without the premium price tag.
