In a surprising turn of events, Meizu, once a prominent name in the smartphone industry, is gearing up to re-enter the market with its highly anticipated Meizu 22 series. This news comes after a period of uncertainty, with the company previously hinting at discontinuing traditional smartphone production.

Earlier this year, tipster Digital Chat Station had mentioned that Meizu was working on the Meizu 22 series, though details were scarce apart from an expected launch timeline.

Now, popular tipster Smart Pikachu has revealed that the Meizu 22 series will likely be powered by Qualcomm‘s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The devices are also expected to feature a white panel design, reminiscent of their predecessors.

The tipster also says that the company is planning to launch two distinct models within the series: one with a compact screen for those who prefer a more manageable device size, and another with a larger flat screen.

Both models are expected to feature enhanced in-car connectivity powered by Flyme Auto, reflecting Meizu’s strategic ‘All In AI’ approach aimed at integrating artificial intelligence more deeply into the user experience. Additionally, Meizu is testing an AI button, which could be incorporated into the device to introduce innovative interactions and functionalities.

Galaxy S25 to be the second Android to use this Wireless charging tech

The Samsung Galaxy S25 series, expected to debut in January 2024, is set to introduce a notable update for wireless charging enthusiasts: support for the Qi2 wireless charging standard. This new technology promises more efficient wireless charging, thanks to the integration of magnets that align the device and charger.

For context, Apple has supported Qi2 wireless charging since the iPhone 12 series. But the HMD Skyline is the only Android phone that currently supports the Qi2 standard. Samsung’s decision to integrate Qi2 into its flagship devices is expected to make a significant impact on the broader Android ecosystem.

The Galaxy S25 series’ adoption of Qi2 will enable faster, more efficient wireless charging up to 15W. However, it’s worth noting that Qi2 support will be limited to 15W charging speed, which is relatively modest compared to the wired charging speeds many Android phones now offer.

Wired charging speed and battery capacity:

While the Qi2-based magnetically attachable wireless charging is a highlight, it seems Samsung isn’t prioritizing significant advancements in wired charging speed for the Galaxy S25 series.

According to the FCC database, the Galaxy S25 model will continue to use the EP-TA800 charging adapter, which supports only 25W fast charging. This is a far cry from its competitors, which have reached much faster-wired charging speeds. Even Apple has matched Samsung’s wired charging rates in recent years.

On the other hand, the Galaxy S25+ and S25 Ultra models are expected to feature 45W fast charging, offering a faster option for users who prefer wired charging.

In terms of battery capacity, it seems that Samsung is not planning to make any major changes either. Unlike most of its Chinese competitors, which have adopted the Si/C battery tech (that results in much higher capacity within the same volume), According to a previous rumor, Samsung will stick to the same battery capacities as the S24 series, which means only iterative improvement in battery life that is due to the more efficient and more expensive Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.

Casio’s G-Shock Flame Inside Watches Blaze into the US

Last month, Casio unveiled the G-Shock Flame Inside series watches in Japan featuring four models: GA-2100FL-1A, GA-100FL-1A, GA-2100FL-8A, and GA-100FL-8A. These four models have now arrived in the US market.

Casio G-Shock Flame Inside series features

G-Shock’s Flame Inside collection introduces new colorways for the GA-100FL and GA-2100FL models. The Flame Orange models boast a gradient orange dial and a smoky black-and-gray band, symbolizing intensity and energy. The Flame Blue models offer a sleek, cooler look with a blue dial and band, representing resilience and strength. Both colorways embody the collection’s theme of overcoming challenges.

The GA-2100FL models are lightweight at just 51 grams and use a bio-based resin case and band, emphasizing sustainability without compromising G-Shock’s trademark shock resistance and 200-meter water resistance. These models include features like a double LED light system, world time for 31 time zones, a countdown timer, and a three-year battery life.

The GA-100FL models weigh 72 grams and include added functionality such as magnetic resistance, a Mach indicator, and a stopwatch capable of measuring speeds up to 1,998 units per hour.

Pricing & availability

The collection is expected to be priced competitively and is currently listed on Casio’s US store, where customers can mark items as favorites before the official release. In Japan, the GA-100FL models are priced at ¥22,000 (approximately $145), while the GA-2100FL models cost ¥20,900 (around $138).

In other news, Casio has also introduced the limited-edition G-Shock MTG-B2000YST1 in the United States, priced at $1,450. This model features a Storm Chaser design that includes a rainbow ion-plated bezel, lightning-inspired patterns, and a glowing phosphorescent layer. Constructed with a carbon-metal frame, sapphire crystal, and 200-meter water resistance, it offers durability while remaining lightweight at just 104 grams.

Having used this device quite a bit, I was pretty impressed by the overall package. It has a hefty Rs 159,999 (roughly 1,885 US Dollars) for the 512GB option. It measures an ultra thin 5.2mm when unfolded (11.2mm when closed) and weighs 236 grams. This is pretty heavy but this isn’t surprising for its form factor.

The Chinese brand made impressive upgrades to the design with a carbon fiber hinge, reasonable width and heft, and a premium feel. Vivo X Fold 3 Pro’s primary screen is a tall 8.03-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 2K+ resolution, and more, while the cover panel is a 6.53-inch has similar specs but with a 1.5K resolution. Under the hood, it packs the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for flagship performance and a massive 5,700mAh battery pack for great battery life. You also get 100W wired and 50W wireless fast charging support.

So even if you take away the folding design, Vivo still offers true flagship grade hardware. While foldable smartphones bring a unique design, they are not well known for battery life or cameras. But the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro has a decent battery life and the same camera setup as the Vivo X100 series. To recall, the X100 lineup is the brand’s last gen flagship phone. So the camera setup can hold its own against most devices in the market.

Huawei’s HarmonyOS NEXT operating system (which powers the Mate 70 series) has been creating a buzz recently for its bold step away from Android. As the first version of Huawei’s OS to not rely on Android AOSP (Android Open Source Project), many users assumed it would be limited to the native HarmonyOS apps available in Huawei’s AppGallery.

This was seen as a potential downside since Huawei‘s app store doesn’t offer as vast a selection as Google’s Play Store. However, new developments reveal a surprising twist—HarmonyOS NEXT devices can indeed run Android apps, and here’s how.

How HarmonyOS NEXT runs Android apps:

Although HarmonyOS NEXT does not use any Android code, instead relying on the Harmony kernel, it still manages to run Android apps. A beta tester recently shared on Reddit that an Android emulator called “EasyAbroad” can be found on Huawei’s AppGallery. This emulator was designed specifically for Huawei users working outside of China, who need access to Google Mobile Services (GMS) to use popular Android apps like YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Google Maps, and more.

With the “EasyAbroad” tool, users can install these Android apps directly onto their HarmonyOS NEXT device, though with some limitations. The Android apps are contained within a separate app store that appears as a folder on the home screen. While users can run these apps from within the folder, they cannot place them as regular icons on their main screen. Additionally, users may encounter issues with receiving notifications from those Android apps, which could affect the overall experience.

The key behind this functionality is microG, a free, open-source replacement for Google Play Services, which allows Android apps to function without requiring a Google account or direct connection to Google’s servers. This solution ensures that most Android apps run smoothly, even without access to the full Google ecosystem.

This development is significant for Huawei users, as it provides a workaround for the limited app ecosystem available on HarmonyOS NEXT. While Huawei’s AppGallery is growing, it still lacks the extensive range of apps found on Google’s Play Store. The ability to run Android apps means that users can enjoy the best of both worlds: the exclusive features of HarmonyOS, combined with the ability to emulate Android apps that are not on Huawei’s platform yet.

OnePlus 13 visits GeekBench ahead of January global launch with Snapdragon 8 Elite

The OnePlus 13 was first introduced in China back in October 2024. Now, the brand is gearing up for a wider global release. But ahead of the overseas announcement, the OnePlus 13 was just spotted flexing its muscles on a popular benchmarking platform. So let’s check it out.

OnePlus 13 visits GeekBench with Snapdragon 8 Elite

The company’s latest flagship surfaced on the GeekBench database with the CPH2655 model number (Via 91Mobiles). Looking at the benchmarking platform, it managed to score 2998 points in the single core test and 9170 points in the multi core test. The OnePlus 13 flexed its muscles with Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Elite. This processor is paired with 16GB of RAM, but there will likely be other RAM configurations as well.

This model runs on the Android 15 OS out of the box, which likely has the OxygenOS 15 custom skin. OnePlus recently teased some key specs and shared early sale details in India via Amazon. However, the global variant was also spotted on the Wireless Power Consortium with some disappointing wireless charging speeds. Based on what we know so far, the OnePlus 13 sports a tall 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED display with 2K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 4500 nits of peak brightness.

For optics, you get three 50MP cameras on the back and a 32MP selfie shooter on the front. A massive 6,000mAh battery pack powers this device, which supports 100W wired fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging. All of this is packed in a premium body that blends glass and metal. Motorola G35: What makes it special?

One of the most notable aspects of the Moto G35 is undoubtedly its design. Despite being a budget phone, this model arrives with a vegan leather bound rear panel. So you get a premium feeling design, which is often seen in more expensive smartphones. Although, Motorola does offer vegan leather on a wide range of its smartphones. Other notable features include dual stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos, water touch technology, and an IP52 rating for water and dust resistance. The Motorola G35 is only listed for a single storage configuration but arrives in three color options, namely Guava Red, Leaf Green, and Midnight Black. Moto G15 complete specs revealed ahead of launch: Upgraded chipset, larger display at similar pricing

Motorola is gearing up to launch the Moto G15 globally, and ahead of its official unveiling, the complete specifications of the device have been revealed. Tipster Sudhanshu (via 91mobiles) has shared detailed information about the successor to the Moto G14. Positioned in the under-Rs 10,000 segment, the Moto G15 is expected to offer solid upgrades, especially in terms of performance, display, and camera.

Leaked specifications of the Moto G15:

The Moto G15 is rumored to feature a 6.72-inch FHD+ IPS LCD display, a notable upgrade over the 6.5-inch display on the Moto G14. The new display has a pixel density of 391ppi. For protection, the screen will have a Corning Gorilla Glass 3, and will offer 86.71% (up from 85.6%) screen-to-body ratio.

Under the hood, the Moto G15 will be powered by the MediaTek Helio G81 Ultra chipset, a significant upgrade over the Moto G14’s Unisoc T616 chipset. The device will be paired with 8GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 256GB of internal storage, with a microSD card slot for further memory expansion. In contrast, the Moto G14 was limited to a single 4GB/128GB configuration.

For photography, the Moto G15 will pack a dual-camera setup on the rear. This includes a 50MP primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, paired with a 5MP secondary lens with an f/2.4 aperture. There will also be an 8MP front-facing camera for selfies. Compared to its predecessor, the G15’s camera setup shows a significant improvement, especially with the inclusion of a 50MP main sensor.

The previously revealed Geekbench listing of the device confirms the presence of Android 15 out of the box, providing users with the latest features and optimizations. As for the battery, the Moto G15 will feature a 5,200mAh battery, an upgrade from the 5,000mAh battery on the G14, and will support 18W TurboPower fast charging.

What else to expect?

The Moto G15 will also include a range of connectivity options including a 3.5mm headphone jack. The device will feature a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, an IP54 rating for splash resistance, and a vegan leather finish, adding a premium touch. The phone’s dimensions will measure 165.7 x 76 x 8.17 mm and weigh 190 grams, a slight reduction compared to the 177-gram Moto G14.

Realme will unveil the Realme Neo 7 tomorrow (Dec. 11) in China. The device will be positioned lower than the Realme GT 7 Pro, which debuted with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip in November in China. Similar to the Realme GT 7 Pro, the Realme Neo 7’s price has leaked ahead of its official launch.

Before its launch, the Realme GT 7 Pro was spotted with a price tag of 3,499 Yuan (~$550), but it debuted at 3,599 Yuan (~$496). Similarly, the Realme Neo 7 has now been spotted with a price of 2,498 Yuan (~$345), Like the GT 7 Pro, the Neo 7’s could arrive with a 400 Yuan cheaper price tag. Therefore, it is probable that the Neo 7’s base model will retail for 2,098 Yuan (~$290) or 2,00 Yuan (~$275).

The TENAA certification of the Neo 7 revealed that it will be available in 6 GB, 8 GB, 12 GB, and 16 GB RAM variants and 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB storage versions in China. However, Realme Vice President, President of Global Marketing, and President for China, Xu Qi Chase, has confirmed that the Neo 7’s base variant will come with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

As per the TENAA listing, the Realme Neo 7 will arrive with a 6.78-inch OLED that offers a 1.5K resolution and an in-screen fingerprint sensor. The Dimensity 9300 Plus chipset and a massive 7,000mAh battery will power the device.

The Neo 7 will have a 50-megapixel primary camera and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens. The front-facing camera will feature a 16-megapixel sensor. The device will run on Android 15 and Realme UI 6.0.

The Realme Neo 7 will be an IP69-rated dust- and water-resistant device. It will also offer other features, such as dual-frequency GPS, wet hand touch support, an IR blaster, and multi-functional NFC.

Galaxy S25 Ultra’s Camera FV-5 listing reveals a Disappointing detail

leaks and rumors continue to surface about Samsung‘s much anticipated Galaxy S25 Ultra. One of the most recent updates comes from the Camera FV-5 platform, which has revealed key details about the camera system. As the flagship model in Samsung’s Galaxy S-series, the S25 Ultra will include a quad-camera setup, an upgraded chipset, and the signature S Pen support.

Camera specifications revealed

The latest certification listing on the Camera FV-5 platform confirms that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will feature a 12.5MP camera. The camera will have an equivalent focal length of 23.2mm, an actual focal length of 6.3mm, and and aperture of f/1.7, offering excellent light capture capabilities. Judging from the focal lengths, we can say that this is the 200MP main sensor, which uses 16-1 pixel binning for 12.5MP output, just like last year.

As you can expect, the main camera will include support for both Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) and OIS for stable video recording and motion blur-less images. According to the listing, the main sensor supports a wide ISO range of 12-3200, and a manual exposure range of 1/11,977 to 1/6.

The listing also shows support for both JPEG and DNG picture formats, with auto and manual focusing options. However, the Camera FV-5 listing only mentions one sensor and more details on the other cameras are yet to be fully confirmed.

The 200MP main sensor (expected to be the same sensor as S24 Ultra) is rumored to be paired with a 50MP ultra-wide-angle lens (up from S24 Ultra‘s 12MP ultrawide), a 50MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, and a 10MP telephoto sensor with 3x zoom. This is rather disappointing that there are no major changes in camera hardware except from the ultrawide.

What else to expect?

Beyond the camera updates, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is expected to come with significant upgrades in other areas as well.
