Nubia is expected to announce the Red Magic 10 series of gaming phones this month in China. Rumors suggest that the lineup may include three models, such as the Red Magic 10 Pro, 10 Pro+, and 10 Ultra. Ahead of the expected launch, one of the upcoming Red Magic 10 series phones has passed 3C certification in China. Here’s a look at the details that have emerged through the certification.
Red Magic 10 Pro series 3C certified
Red Magic 10 Pro series phone 3C certified
As can be seen above, the upcoming Nubia phone with NX789J model number has received approval from China’s 3C authority. The listing suggests that the device may come with support for up to 120W fast charging. Unfortunately, the certification has not revealed anything else about the device.
As per reports, one of the most exciting features of the Red Magic 10 Pro series is that it will feature a new OLED panel developed in collaboration with BOE. This new display technology promises to redefine the concept of minimal bezels in the smartphone industry. Red Magic claims that the 10 Pro series will feature the “narrowest” borders yet, achieved through advanced COP packaging and SIP ultra-narrow bezel technology. In addition, it will offer a true full-screen experience thanks to the inclusion of an under-display camera.
Under the hood, the Red Magic 10 Pro series is expected to pack the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. The devices have also been tipped to support blazing-fast 120W wired charging, minimizing downtime for eager gamers. The Ultra variant is said to pack a 7-inch+ display and a 7,000mAh battery.
In terms of design, a leaked image of the Red Magic 10 Pro series phone that surfaced on Weibo revealed a departure from the previous generation’s completely flat back. The RedMagic 10 Pro series appears to have a slightly protruding camera bump, potentially hinting at enhanced camera capabilities.
Following a rumor earlier this month, Google has officially confirmed an earlier-than-usual release timeline for Android 16. The next major iteration of the mobile operating system is now slated for a launch sometime between April and June of 2025, a significant shift from the traditional Q3 or Q4 release window.
This change in strategy, according to Google, aims to “better align with the schedule of device launches across the Android ecosystem.”
Android 16 update earlier than expected
Traditionally, new Pixel phones would hit the market with the current Android version, while manufacturers like Samsung wouldn’t integrate the latest iteration until their flagship launches later in the year. This often left a gap where some high-end devices wouldn’t benefit from the newest Android features for several months.
The earlier release of Android 16 could close that gap. If Google achieves its target and releases the update by the end of June, the upcoming Pixel 10 line will launch with Android 16 pre-installed. Similarly, manufacturers like Samsung, known for their July unveilings of their next-generation foldables, could integrate the latest Android version from the get-go.
However, Google’s plans don’t stop at Android 16. The company also hinted at a second Android release in 2025. This “minor release,” scheduled for the fourth quarter (October-December), will reportedly focus on “feature updates, optimizations, and bug fixes since the major release.”
While Google hasn’t confirmed its official designation, it’s understood that this could be Android 16.1, offering a refinement of the major update released earlier in the year.
All in all, the earlier release of Android 16 appears to be a strategic move by Google to ensure its Pixel devices and other Android flagships launch with the latest software on board.
Additionally, the upcoming minor update in Q4 2025 suggests Google is committed to maintaining a more rapid development and update cycle for its mobile operating system.

OnePlus has finally announced the OnePlus 13. The device was released as the brand’s latest generation flagship smartphone in China. So here’s a list of all the upgrades and changes that the OnePlus 13 offers over its predecessor, the OnePlus 12.
Design is one of the areas that the company placed a special focus on this year. Overall, the OnePlus 13 has a refined new look. From the back, the first major difference you could tell is with the new camera module, which no longer blends into the metallic frame. The OnePlus 13 is also offered in three distinct options, which includes Silk Glass (White), skin-friendly velvet leather (Blue), and Obsidian (Black).
In comparison, the OnePlus 12 only offered glass back in different colors. There are changes not just to the form but also to its function. The 2024 OnePlus flagship arrives with an IP68/IP69 rating, which makes it more resistant to water and dust than the IP65 rating on the OnePlus 12.
2. Faster Performance
OnePlus hasn’t simply improved performance in the OnePlus 13 but also upgraded the cooling system with a massive 9925mm² VC cooling. It needs a robust thermal management system since the new flagship is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite.
This is a high end chip for next gen premium Android phones. The chip brings a 45% increase in CPU performance, a 44% boost in power efficiency, a 40% increase in GPU performance, and a 35% faster ray tracing as well. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 powered OnePlus 12 is quite capable, but the OnePlus 13 offers cutting edge hardware.

Both models pack a triple camera setup on the rear, but the brand employs different image sensors. The OnePlus 12 packs a 50MP Sony LYT808 primary sensor with OIS, a 64MP OmniVision OV64B periscope telephoto shooter (OIS, 3x zoom), and a 48MP Sony IMX581 ultra wide angle lens with autofocus. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 13 features a 50MP Sony LYT808 main sensor with OIS, a 50MP LYT600 periscope telephoto with multi-prism reflective periscope structure (OIS, 3x zoom), and a 50MP 114° ultra wide Samsung S5KJN5 sensor. For selfies and video calls, there is a 32MP shooter on the front. The OnePlus 13 and OnePlus 12 are optimized by Hasselblad image processing.
With October drawing to a close, the flagship smartphone frenzy of 2024 is nearing its end. While some brands like Huawei still keep their high-end devices under wraps, looks like we’re now gearing up for a wave of sub-flagship launches starting next month.

The leak also hints at possible November launches for Huawei’s flagship Mate 70 series and foldable Mate X6. OnePlus may release its Ace 5 series (initially just the Ace 5, with a Pro model to follow in mid-2025) in November or December.
Rounding out the year-end releases, Digital Chat Station suggests sub-flagship arrivals from Honor (300 series), Vivo (S20 series), OPPO (Reno 13 series), along with models from Nubia (Z70 Ultra), and Red Magic (10 series).

Just yesterday, iQOO finally unveiled the flagship iQOO 13 smartphone model in its home market of China. It arrives with top notch specs and features. So now, let’s check out every major difference and upgrade that it offers over last year’s iQOO 12.
1. iQOO 13 vs iQOO 12: Taller Screen with Higher Resolution
Back in 2023, the iQOO 12 was released with a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display that offers a 1.5K resolution (2800 x 1260 pixels), a 144Hz refresh rate, 2160Hz PWM dimming, and 3,000 nits of peak brightness. This was quite an impressive package considering its price. However, the iQOO 13 improves in nearly every aspect compared to its predecessor.
The iQOO 13 was announced with a slightly taller 6.82-inch 8T LTPO OLED panel. It has a higher 2K+ resolution (3168 x 1440 pixels), a 144Hz refresh rate, and up to 4,500 nits of peak brightness as well. The PWM dimming has a higher 2592Hz frequency as well.
2. Faster Performance
Earlier this year, we found that the iQOO 12 was one of the best value Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 phones in India. It featured a flagship grade processor with up to 16GB LPDDR5x RAM and 512GB UFS 4.0 storage. But thanks to Qualcomm’s latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Elite, the iQOO 13 has a noticeable upgrade in performance. It promises a 45% increase in CPU performance while offering a 44% boost in power efficiency. Furthermore, there is also a 40% increase in GPU performance along with 35% faster ray tracing as well.
3. Bigger Battery in a Thinner Body
The iQOO 12 launched with an 8.1mm body, which housed a 5,000mAh battery pack. This cell supports 120W wired fast charging. However, the newer iQOO 13 has a much larger 6,150mAh capacity thanks to iQOO’s new third generation silicon negative electrode technology. But despite the bigger battery, the iQOO 13 has a slimmed 7.99mm body. The only real downside is the 100W fast charging support on the newer flagship phone.
4. New Camera System
The brand announced the iQOO 13 with three 50MP cameras on the rear with a 32MP selfie shooter. This consists of a 1/1.56-inch Sony IMX921 primary sensor (f/1.88 aperture, OIS), 1/2.93-inch Sony IMX816 portrait telephoto shooter (f/1.85 aperture), and a 119.4° ultra wide angle lens with a 1/2.76-inch sensor.
On the other hand, last year’s iQOO 12 had a 50MP OmniVision OV50H primary sensor, a 50MP Samsung JN1 ultra wide angle lens with autofocus, and a 64MP OV64B 3x periscope telephoto shooter with OIS support. On the front, it has a 16MP Samsung S5K3P9 selfie shooter.
5. Other Notable Upgrades
There are a bunch of other upgrades on the iQOO 13 over the iQOO 12. The company’s latest flagship smartphone features an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner, which is an improvement over the optical fingerprint scanner on last year’s model. iQOO’s 2024 flagship phone also has an IP68/IP69 rating for water and dust resistance over iQOO 12’s IP64 rating. But one of the best aspects of the iQOO 13 is that it brings all of these upgrades without any price hike (both start from 3,999 Yuan).
