Yesterday, the iQOO 13 flagship smartphone, featuring the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, was launched in China and has since gone on sale. Today, iQOO revealed that this latest flagship model has set a new first-day sales record, surpassing all of its previous devices launched by the brand.

While the brand has not shared the exact number of units sold on the first day, netizens have pointed out that its starting price is likely a big factor in this achievement. The iQOO 13 launched with a 3999 yuan (~$561) starting price tag for the 12GB + 256GB model, which is the same starting price as its predecessor, the iQOO 12.

This decision from the brand was unexpected, as many anticipated price increases for all smartphones featuring the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which reportedly costs 25-30% more than its predecessor. Even the OnePlus 13, which is scheduled to launch later today is expected to come with a 500 yuan ($70) price hike.

The volume of smartphones sold also saw a 3 percent year-on-year increase, aided by the early onset of the festive season. Manufacturers ensured that retailers were well-stocked in anticipation of a surge in festive sales, although the sales commenced at a slower pace compared to the previous year.

In line with its strategic market manoeuvres, Samsung has also launched enticing offers on its latest foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. As part of a limited-period festive offer, consumers can purchase the Z Fold 6 for as low as Rs 1,44,999 with a 24-month no-cost EMI option. Xiaomi has just launched the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip in China. Speculations are rife that its sub-brand Redmi will announce the Redmi K80 series of smartphones. Last year, the brand announced the Redmi K70e, K70, and K70 Pro in November. While reports have revealed the existence of the Redmi K80 and K80 Pro models, there is no clarity that there will be a Redmi K80e device this year. Nevertheless, three new devices that are believed to be part of the K80 lineup have received approval from China’s 3C certification platform

Redmi K80 series 3C certified

The 24122RKC7C model has been spotted with a 120W fast charger in 3C’s database. According to the previously seen IMEI database listing, this device will be known as the Redmi K80. This device is expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. The global variant of this phone, listed as 24122RKC7G in the IMEI database, will be marketed as the Poco F7 Ultra.

As per the 3C listing, the 24127RK2CC may also ship with a 120W charger. This phone has already been listed as the Redmi K80 Pro in the IMEI database. It is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Unlike the other models, the 24127RK2CC does not have a global variant and may remain exclusive to the Chinese market. To recall, the Redmi K70 Pro was a China-exclusive device.

The third model, 24117RK2CC, may come equipped with a 90W fast charging. While it is also being referred to as K80 Pro, its name for the Chinese market is not yet known. However, the global version of this device, listed as 24117RK2CG, will be branded as the Poco F7 Pro according to the IMEI database.

Additionally, the model 2412DRT0AC, which has yet to receive 3C certification, is identified as the Redmi Turbo 4 in the IMEI database. The global version of this device is listed as 2412DPC0AG, and the Indian variant is 2412DPC0AI, both of which will be marketed as the Poco F7.

While we’re still waiting for Google to officially unveil the Pixel 9a (and the Pixel 10a feels like a distant dream), rumors are already swirling about devices even further down the line – specifically, the Pixel 11a.

According to a recent leak, the Pixel 11a, which is expected for released in 2027, might not boast the same level of processing power as its flagship siblings.

The leak also hints at a shift in Google’s tablet strategy, with new Pixel Tablets launching every two years. This would position the Pixel Tablet 3 for a 2027 release alongside the 11a.

Reportedly, both the Pixel 11a and Pixel Tablet 3 will use the same Tensor chip as the flagship Pixel line. The catch, however, is that Google may fuse off defective parts of the TPU to salvage chips that would otherwise be discarded. These modified chips would then power the more budget-friendly Pixel 11a and Pixel Tablet 3.

The TPU is a crucial component of Google’s on-device AI processing. It powers features like Magic Eraser and Live Translate. Our hands-on video of the Oppo Find X8 Pro is now live! This device is generating quite a buzz, especially with its sleek design and impressive features. While many are curious about the standard version, we only got the opportunity to get hurt hands on the Pro model. Here’s what we discovered.

The unboxing experience for the Find X8 Pro is familiar to fans of the Find X7 series. Inside, you’ll find the usual accessories: a SIM card tool, manuals, and a soft case, along with an 80W charger and USB-A cable.

Design-wise, a notable change is the repositioning of the Hasselblad logo to the center of the camera island, enhancing the overall symmetry. While the vegan leather option is absent this time, the sleek, slightly curved frame still offers a comfortable grip.

One standout feature of the phone is the new camera control button, which aims to simplify photography. Double-tap to launch the camera, click to capture, long press for burst shots, and swipe to adjust zoom.
