As per reports, iQOO will unveil the iQOO 13 5G flagship phone on Oct. 30 in China. Rumor has it that the brand is also developing the Neo 10 series of smartphones. A fresh leak, courtesy of tipster Smart Pikachu, highlights the key specifications and launch timeframe of the Neo 10 and Neo 10 Pro.

Previous leaks indicate that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Dimensity 9400 chipsets, respectively, will power the upcoming iQOO Neo 10 and Neo 10 Pro. The tipster mentioned above has now revealed that the Neo 10 series will feature a gaming-friendly flat display with 1.5K resolution.

The leak also reveals that the Neo 10 series will also feature an ultrasonic in-screen fingerprint scanner and a 6,500mAh battery. The leaker further revealed that the Neo 10 series will be unveiled in December in China. According to other reports, both devices feature a metal middle frame, run Android 15 with OriginOS 5 on top, and support 100W charging.

Reports have revealed that the Neo 10 series will face competition from the likes of the OnePlus Ace 5 series, the Realme GT Neo 7, and the Redmi K80 lineup. Reports indicate that China will announce the K80 series in November, whereas the Ace 5 lineup and Realme GT Neo 7 may debut in the same month or December.

The Neo 10 series will succeed the Neo 9 and Neo 9 Pro, which featured the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and the Dimensity 9300 chipset, respectively. While the Neo 9 Pro remained exclusive to the Chinese market, the Neo 9 was released with the Neo 9 Pro in markets outside of China.

Oppo has already announced ColorOS 15 (based on Android 15), which will eventually roll out to eligible Oppo and OnePlus devices (in China). For OnePlus phones outside China, the company has also completed its development of the Android 15-based OxygenOS 15 skin.

In the latest news, OnePlus Community has confirmed that OxygenOS 15 will be unveiled on October 24, just days after the launch of the Snapdragon 8 Elite (or 8 Gen 4) chip.

OxygenOS 15 reportedly includes a revamped control center, which, according to previous reports, draws inspiration from iOS and HyperOS. Swiping down from the screen’s left corner may open the notification window, and swiping from the right could bring up the Control Centre.

This is possibly one of the biggest visual changes in the latest custom skin from OnePlus. The revamped layout is speculated to feature a media player in a 2×2 grid, a 1×2 brightness slider, and a volume control in a 1×2 grid.

The upcoming flagship, OnePlus 13, is expected to launch soon after the unveiling of the new chip, possibly in October. Not to mention Xiaomi and iQOO will also launch their new flagships around the same time.

According to a previous leak, the OnePlus 13 could pack a custom version of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip that aims for a more power-efficient operation. The phone will also pack a massive 6,000mAh battery, which is expected to support 100W fast charging.

OnePlus is set to reveal its next flagship, the OnePlus 13, later this month. While the brand hasn’t officially started promoting the phone, leaks and rumors have given us plenty of details.

In the latest leak, popular Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station shared the first design render of the OnePlus 13. Although the post has since been edited to remove the image (a common move by DCS for exclusive leaks), we managed to save the picture in time.

Samsung becomes the first company to develop 24GB GDDR7 DRAM

Samsung has revealed that it has created the world’s first 24GB GDDR7 DRAM memory chip, which is designed for high-performance GPUs (graphics processing units). This new memory chip is not only the largest in capacity but also the fastest in the industry. It is expected to be used in top-of-the-line GPUs next year, providing significant improvements in both performance and energy efficiency. The company was also the first to finish developing GDDR7 chips, marking a major achievement in the industry.

Key Features of Samsung’s 24GB GDDR7 Chip

Samsung introduced this 24GB GDDR7 DRAM memory chip, which boasts the fastest speed and highest storage capacity among its kind. To lower power waste even further, Samsung applied power gating techniques, which help control power leakage.

Samsung’s GDDR7 DRAM is made for demanding applications, such as artificial intelligence (AI), large data centers, and heavy graphics processing tasks. We can also expect this chip to appear in future gaming consoles, personal computers, and even advanced vehicles with smart connectivity.

Samsung plans to have this GDDR7 memory chip validated (officially tested and approved) later this year. Once approved, the chip is expected to be shipped to major customers like AMD and Nvidia in early 2024. These companies will likely use this memory chip in their next-generation GPUs.

India’s first Snapdragon 4s Gen 4-powered 5G phone announced: will retail for less than Rs 10,000

Xiaomi, in partnership with Qualcomm, has just announced the Redmi A4 5G at the Indian Mobile Congress (2024) to be the country’s first smartphone powered by the 4nm Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chip.

This phone is positioned as an entry-level device that combines 5G connectivity and a reasonably good performance together.

The phone is built around a 6.7-inch LCD panel with HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. As for the back, the company showcased the phone in two different color options.

While Xiaomi didn’t reveal the full specification of the device, it’s expected to pack a 5000mAh battery and support 18W charging, up from 10W of the Redmi A3.

As mentioned above, the new Snapdragon chip brings a major improvement in performance as compared to the predecessor. To give you an idea, the 4s Gen 2 chip scores over 800 and 1900 in Geekbench single and multi-core tests respectively, which is more than double the scores of the Helio G36 (12nm) of the predecessor.

The 4nm process node also suggests a notable improvement in power efficiency, which should result in a considerable improvement in battery life.

For those interested, the CPU consists of two Cortex-A78 performance cores clocked at up to 2GHz, and six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores clocked at 1.8GHz.

As for the cameras, the rear setup includes a 50MP main camera and an undisclosed secondary sensor, which is also a big jump from the 8MP + 0.08MP rear setup of the predecessor. The main camera should offer reasonably detailed shots in a good lighting condition. There is an 8MP selfie shooter in the front.

Unfortunately, the company did not reveal anything else about the specifications of the device.

Pricing and availability:

While the company didn’t disclose the exact number, they confirmed that it would be priced under Rs 10,000 and would hit the market ‘soon.’

To recall, the Redmi A3 launched back in February this year. So we can expect the successor to launch early next year or even towards the end of this year.

One UI 7 could be the biggest improvement in the history of Samsung software

Samsung is taking much longer than usual to release the One UI 7 beta, based on Android 15. Initially, it was expected to arrive in July, but things kept getting delayed again and again, and we’re now in the middle of October with no exact release date for the One UI 7 beta, though it’s confirmed to arrive before the end of the year. This long wait might pay off well, as One UI 7 is said to bring the biggest improvement in the history of One UI.

Samsung has been one of the first Android brands to release the latest version of Android in recent years, but this year has been a different story. Many brands, including Google and Vivo, have already started rolling out the stable Android 15 update, but Samsung isn’t in a rush. The South Korean giant is still developing One UI 7 to deliver a great software experience with fewer bugs and issues.

According to a reliable Samsung leaker, Ice Universe, One UI 7 is the biggest improvement in the history of the entire Samsung software. Those improvements should bring a significant boost to animations, transitions, system stability, and overall smoothness.

Further, the tipster claims that Galaxy S25 Ultra (with 16GB RAM) will deliver the most powerful One UI 7 experience. That’s not because Samsung is based, but because of ample RAM and a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 (also known as Snapdragon 8 Elite) chipset on the S25 Ultra. This Qualcomm chip is said to be the most powerful chip for Android devices, with strong performance and energy efficiency, and should deliver a snappier software experience.

Drawing from his own experience, Ice Universe awarded 60 points to One UI 6. He gave 85 points to the Galaxy S24 Ultra running One UI 7 and 92 points to the Galaxy S25 Ultra running One UI 7.1. While there’s no scientific process behind these scores, they suggest a significant improvement to the One UI 7 and One UI 7.1.

In a more recent X post, he revealed that Samsung has replaced multiple icons, such as Gallery, Phone, Camera, Recorder, Contacts, Samsung Notes, etc, which look more reasonable and better than before.

Exynos 2500 Geekbench reveals 10-core CPU setup with three performance cores

Samsung seems unsure about using the Exynos 2500 in its upcoming Galaxy S25 series. In April, the company confirmed it would include the new SoC in its next flagship

Although it didn’t specify a product, many expected to see the upcoming Exynos chip in the Galaxy S25 models, at least in the smaller versions for select markets.

However, recent reports suggest Samsung is now considering the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and even the Dimensity 9400 for its next S-flagships, likely due to the low production yield of the Exynos 2500.

Amid this uncertainty, the Exynos 2500 has appeared on the Geekbench benchmarking platform, revealing key details about the chip.

The Exynos 2500 is spotted with a 10-core architecture, similar to its predecessor. While its model number—S5E9955—resembles the earlier version, this one features two additional prime CPU cores. 

It includes three Cortex-X925 CPU cores clocked at 2.59GHz, five Cortex-A725 CPU cores at 2.25GHz, and two Cortex-A520 CPU cores at 1.75GHz. Its AMD Radeon-based Xclipse 950 GPU also gets an upgrade, with two more GPU cores clocked at 1.3GHz.

Though these specs suggest a powerful SoC, it’s important to manage expectations. The Geekbench entry shows the device tested was an Exynos Reference Design (ERD), which is a test platform used during chip development and doesn’t represent a commercially available phone.

Such reference designs are commonly used by chip manufacturers to evaluate performance during the development of the SoC. 

In short, the benchmark is from a reference design, not a real device. So, it doesn’t confirm that the Exynos 2500 will power the upcoming Galaxy S25 series. 

It only tells us that Samsung is still developing the chip, which was already known. Whether the new flagships will use Snapdragon processors globally remains to be seen.

Moto Edge 50 Fusion receives Android 15 beta: Here’s what’s new

Stable Android 15 has just started rolling out on Pixel devices. Now Motorola has stepped up and begun rolling out Android 15 beta to the Motorola Edge 50 Fusion in India.

The news comes from X user “Beta” who has also shared the changelog of the update, according to which, Android 15 makes the device faster, smarter, and more secure.

Apart from that, the changelog also promises smoother animations, more optimized app performance, screen recording alerts, and the ability to more easily switch between different languages.

While the changelog doesn’t explain much about the new features in Android 15, it’s likely to receive the App Archiving and Private Space feature Google has embedded into core Android.

For those unfamiliar, the app archiving feature lets you save space without uninstalling apps and losing the app data. It just overwrites the app with an archived APK. On the other hand, the Private Spate feature is a similar implementation to Samsung’s Secure Folder in OneUI, which lets you create a secondary space for all your sensitive apps and files.

Users willing to get a taste of Android 15 earlier than others can check the eligibility of their devices for the beta program by going to www.google.com/android/beta and scrolling down to the “Your eligible devices” section, which is supposed to show the devices associated with the email account eligible for Android 15 beta.

While there’s no update yet on the rollout for the rest of the Edge 50 series models, we expect it to begin soon.

Another Snapdragon 8 Elite phone gets its launch confirmed, before Xiaomi 15 series

We’re finally getting official details about the iQOO 13, moving beyond just rumors. The company has revealed the phone’s design and shared details about its new flagship BOE Q10 display.

Now, iQOO has also announced the phone’s launch timeframe alongside the confirmation that it will be powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming chipset.

This news comes via a pair of Weibo posts from iQOO. The first details the establishment of the Vivo Qualcomm Joint Laboratory, a collaboration between iQOO’s parent company and the chip giant.

The lab, according to iQOO, will focus on optimizing chip two and creating a “Blue Crystal x Snapdragon” technology stack.

For those unfamiliar, Vivo’s Blue Crystal tech stack focuses on improving eight key areas — performance, power consumption, gaming, communication, security, imaging, display, and AI. 

Vivo has a similar partnership with MediaTek for the Dimensity 9400 chip and its predecessor. Now, for the first time, the company is teaming up with Qualcomm to apply the Blue Crystal stack.

While the post doesn’t name the chip directly, the timing and partnership strongly suggest it’s referring to the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite (or 8 Gen 4). The post also confirms the “Blue Crystal x Snapdragon” will first debut on the iQOO 13.

The second Weibo post adds another piece to the puzzle by revealing the launch timeframe for the iQOO 13. The company confirmed that the phone will arrive “at the end of October.”  The timeframe follows Qualcomm’s expected unveiling of the new Snapdragon processor later this month.
