<p>Won-Joon Choi, Chief Operating Officer of Samsung’s Mobile eXperience Business, said, “As we expand Samsung Internet to PC, we’re excited to invite users to shape the future of browsing with us.” He added that the new beta brings mobile and PC closer together while setting up future updates focused on smarter, AI-powered browsing.</p>

<h3>Seamless Connection Between Mobile and PC</h3>

<p>Samsung Internet for PC lets users sync bookmarks, browsing history, and Samsung Pass data. This makes it easy to log in to websites or autofill information securely on any device. Users can also pick up right where they left off when switching between their phone and PC, creating a consistent experience across platforms.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="538" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/002-Samsung-Internet-Expands-to-PC-With-New-Beta-Program-Newsbody-1024x538.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-713239" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/002-Samsung-Internet-Expands-to-PC-With-New-Beta-Program-Newsbody-1024x538.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/002-Samsung-Internet-Expands-to-PC-With-New-Beta-Program-Newsbody-300x158.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/002-Samsung-Internet-Expands-to-PC-With-New-Beta-Program-Newsbody-768x404.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/002-Samsung-Internet-Expands-to-PC-With-New-Beta-Program-Newsbody-696x366.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/002-Samsung-Internet-Expands-to-PC-With-New-Beta-Program-Newsbody-1068x561.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/002-Samsung-Internet-Expands-to-PC-With-New-Beta-Program-Newsbody-799x420.jpg 799w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/002-Samsung-Internet-Expands-to-PC-With-New-Beta-Program-Newsbody.jpg 1440w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>When logged into a Samsung Account, users can access Galaxy AI features such as <em>Browsing Assist</em>, which provides quick webpage summaries and translations. These tools are designed to save time and help users find information faster.</p>

<h3>Built-In Security and Privacy</h3>

<p>The browser is built with Samsung’s standard privacy and security framework. Smart Anti-Tracking blocks third-party trackers that try to collect personal information, while the <em>Privacy Dashboard</em> shows and manages privacy settings in real time.</p>

<h3>Availability</h3>

<p>The Samsung Internet for PC beta is available starting October 30, 2025, for Windows 11 and Windows 10 (version 1809 or higher) users in the United States and Korea. More regions will be added later.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/openai/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">OpenAI</a> has launched ChatGPT Atlas, a new AI-powered browser that integrates its popular chatbot directly into the browsing experience. The company made the browser available on macOS this week, with support for Windows, iOS, and Android expected soon. Atlas is free to download and supports all ChatGPT account tiers, including Free, Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="640" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ChatGPT-Atlas-1024x640.png?x10805" alt="ChatGPT Atlas" class="wp-image-712299" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ChatGPT-Atlas-1024x640.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ChatGPT-Atlas-300x188.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ChatGPT-Atlas-768x480.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ChatGPT-Atlas-696x435.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ChatGPT-Atlas-1068x668.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ChatGPT-Atlas-672x420.png 672w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ChatGPT-Atlas.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>ChatGPT Atlas replaces the traditional address bar with a chat-based interface, allowing direct interaction with AI features across any webpage. It eliminates the need to switch tabs or copy text, providing assistance in real time. The built-in sidebar enables ChatGPT to summarize articles, answer queries, and assist in completing tasks using the live content of the page.</p>

<p>OpenAI also introduces Agent Mode, a premium feature for Plus and Business subscribers. It enables ChatGPT to handle multi-step actions like online shopping, topic research, and automating routine workflows. It supports contextual assistance, allowing users to highlight text in emails, documents, or invites and receive help directly within the same tab.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="685" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ChatGPT-Atlas-1-1024x685.webp?x10805" alt="ChatGPT Atlas" class="wp-image-712298" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ChatGPT-Atlas-1-1024x685.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ChatGPT-Atlas-1-300x201.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ChatGPT-Atlas-1-768x513.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ChatGPT-Atlas-1-1536x1027.webp 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ChatGPT-Atlas-1-2048x1369.webp 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ChatGPT-Atlas-1-696x465.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ChatGPT-Atlas-1-1068x714.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ChatGPT-Atlas-1-1920x1283.webp 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/ChatGPT-Atlas-1-628x420.webp 628w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The browser includes memory features that let ChatGPT retain browsing context, allowing it to resume tasks such as job searches, list creation, or content summarization. It also offers privacy controls that enable users to disable memory, switch to incognito mode, and limit visibility on specific websites.</p>

<p>Atlas allows data import from Google Chrome, including bookmarks, passwords, and browsing history. It can be set as the default browser through the settings menu, and new users receive higher rate limits during the first week.</p>

<p>OpenAI said the browser is part of its broader effort to reshape how users interact with the web. The launch comes amid growing competition from <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/google/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Google’</a>s Gemini-powered Chrome and other AI-first browsers like Perplexity’s Comet.</p>

<p>According to OpenAI, ChatGPT now serves over 800 million weekly active users. The company aims to expand that number further by integrating AI tools directly into core digital workflows.</p>

<p>The wait is over for <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/windows-11">Windows 11</a> users! After months in beta, The <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/browser">Browser</a> Company has finally launched the official version of Arc browser 1.0.1. Users can now download and use Arc directly without needing to join a waiting list.</p>

<h3>Windows 10 users may have to wait longer for their turn to try the browser out.</h3>

<p>However, there&#8217;s a catch: Arc currently only supports Windows 11. Those on <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/windows-10">Windows 10 </a>will need to wait a bit longer for their turn. There&#8217;s also good news for users with ARM-based Windows machines, as a native ARM64 version of Arc is planned for a future release. Interestingly, the Windows version of Arc leverages Apple&#8217;s Swift programming language, similar to the macOS version. This allows the browser to share some core code with its <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/mac">Mac</a> counterpart.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="849" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Arc_browser_logo.svg_-1024x849.png?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-622280" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Arc_browser_logo.svg_-1024x849.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Arc_browser_logo.svg_-300x249.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Arc_browser_logo.svg_-768x637.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Arc_browser_logo.svg_-696x577.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Arc_browser_logo.svg_-1068x886.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Arc_browser_logo.svg_-507x420.png 507w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/Arc_browser_logo.svg_.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>Arc has a unique interface with a sidebar that houses features like tabs, library, easels &amp; notes, spaces, boosts, and archived tabs. It also has some innovative features like the ability to rename tabs, peek into links before opening them, and take notes within the browser.</p>

<p>However, Arc also has some hard edges. It has a steep learning curve due to its new design and reliance on keyboard shortcuts. Overall, it is a promising new browser with some innovative features, but some may argue that it is not ready for mass adoption yet. Well, with a whole new user base, we&#8217;ll find out soon what people think about the Browser.</p>

<p>Microsoft is working hard to increase Edge&#8217;s popularity, but claiming success might not be entirely accurate. According to 2023 data, Google Chrome leads the browser market with 66.39%, while Microsoft Edge holds the third position at 11.09%, behind Safari. Despite being preinstalled on all Windows PCs, Edge faces challenges, especially on mobile, where it has less than 5%. However, there&#8217;s potential for a game-changer as Microsoft Edge for Android is gearing up to support extensions. Here are the details&#8230;</p>

<h2><strong>Microsoft Edge&#8217;s Game-Changing Move: Extensions Coming to Android</strong></h2>

<p>Microsoft Edge for Android is gaining support for extensions. This means you can install various extensions, just like you would on desktop browsers. Moreover, this feature is something almost none of its mainstream competitors offer. According to information revealed by Twitter user <a href="https://x.com/Leopeva64?s=20" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Leopeva64</a>, this feature is currently in the testing phase and will soon be available for Android users to enjoy.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/microsoft-edge-android-extensions-support-1-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-601725" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/microsoft-edge-android-extensions-support-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/microsoft-edge-android-extensions-support-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/microsoft-edge-android-extensions-support-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/microsoft-edge-android-extensions-support-1-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/microsoft-edge-android-extensions-support-1-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/microsoft-edge-android-extensions-support-1-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/microsoft-edge-android-extensions-support-1.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Microsoft is in a much worse position in the mobile browser market than it is on PC. However, this move could truly propel the company ahead, positioning it differently from its competitors. While beneficial for useful add-ons, it also comes with some challenges. For instance, many users employ ad blockers on their PCs. Yes, nobody likes seeing ads, but almost all digital content you encounter online relies on these ads for revenue.</p>

<p>If Microsoft Edge becomes more popular by adding extensions, it might prompt competitors like Google Chrome and Safari to follow suit. This could impact digital content creators who rely on ads, especially since mobile users often don&#8217;t use ad blockers. It&#8217;s important to note that just because a feature is available on mobile doesn&#8217;t mean it should be misused. </p>

<p>When Edge introduces extension support, you can explore various functional extensions, while ad blockers could be handy for websites with excessive ads. Keep in mind that the release timing for this feature is currently uncertain, so some patience might be needed.</p>

<p>The security of our personal data is facing unprecedented challenges. In today&#8217;s world, nearly every technological device we use be it an application or a gadget is gathering our data. These collected data are then processed and used to show us targeted advertisements. Ironically, Google, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/11/14/samsung-google-play-revenue/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">one of the companies making money</a> through this strategy, is taking a step to make our lives a bit more secure, at least against others. Google is finally eliminating tracking cookies in Chrome. Here are the details&#8230;</p>

<h2><strong>Google Takes a Step Towards Enhanced Privacy, Phasing Out Tracking Cookies in Chrome</strong></h2>

<p>Google has announced that it will soon begin phasing out support for third-party cookies in its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/guides/how-to-turn-off-chrome-browsers-new-download-tray/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Chrome web browser</a>. But let&#8217;s start from the beginning, what are cookies? Cookies are small text files that allow websites to identify and track users. Third-party cookies are not created by the website you are visiting, but rather by another website when you visit that particular site. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="465" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Screenshot-2021-03-01-at-10.28.10-AM-1024x465.png?x10805" alt="Google Chrome" class="wp-image-373859" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Screenshot-2021-03-01-at-10.28.10-AM-1024x465.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Screenshot-2021-03-01-at-10.28.10-AM-300x136.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Screenshot-2021-03-01-at-10.28.10-AM-768x349.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Screenshot-2021-03-01-at-10.28.10-AM-696x316.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Screenshot-2021-03-01-at-10.28.10-AM-1068x485.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Screenshot-2021-03-01-at-10.28.10-AM-925x420.png 925w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Screenshot-2021-03-01-at-10.28.10-AM.png 1660w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>These cookies are commonly used by advertisers to track users&#8217; online activities. Google removing these cookies can help reduce the tracking of users&#8217; online activities. This may result in users being less targeted with ads and could help them maintain online privacy. Actually, this is not something new. Google had announced a long time ago that it would phase out third-party cookies. However, the exact date for this move was not specified. </p>

<p>Now, the company has revealed in a recent statement that they will commence the process in January 2024. But don&#8217;t panic. What will happen if a website relies on cookies and needs them to function properly? If Chrome is convinced that a site won&#8217;t open without cookies and you&#8217;re experiencing issues, it will allow you to re-enable cookies for that site. However, you may need to perform actions like refreshing the page multiple times for the system to detect this. </p>

<p>You don&#8217;t need to worry either. Because Google will initially apply this policy to only 1% of Chrome users. Therefore, we most likely won&#8217;t be in the affected group. However, the goal is to completely block third-party cookies for all users by the second half of 2024. It&#8217;s worth noting that Google Chrome is not the first browser developer to restrict third-party cookies. Competitors like Safari, Firefox, and Brave have been blocking trackers in this way for a long time, making them among the safest browsers you can use.</p>

<p>Nevertheless, we need to point out that there is some hypocrisy involved. As mentioned above, Google collects every possible piece of data about its users. The company utilizes this information to mimic what third-party cookies do, creating advertising strategies and offering everyone the opportunity to benefit from this data. In fact, some users perceive this move by the company as merely eliminating competition. The company, which claims to do everything for user security, remains silent about the matter.</p>

<p>Safari is a web browser developed by Apple Inc. and is designed specifically for use on Apple devices such as Macs, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/iphone">iPhones</a>, and <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/ipad">iPads</a>. It is known for its sleek and intuitive interface, fast performance, and seamless integration with Apple&#8217;s ecosystem. Safari offers a range of features including a robust privacy and security system, intelligent tracking prevention, and built-in support for Apple&#8217;s iCloud Keychain for password management. The browser also supports various extensions, allowing users to customize their browsing experience further. Safari is widely regarded for its efficient power management, making it an excellent choice for Apple device users who value both speed and energy efficiency.</p>

<h3>New Safari seems to blur the line between desktop and web apps</h3>

<p>While Safari may not always steal the spotlight in <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/macos">macOS</a>, Apple continues to invest in its web browser, unveiling the latest version with a host of notable enhancements. From improved privacy controls and encryption features to the innovative creation of web apps, Safari is set to redefine the browsing experience.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="690" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/rubaitul-azad-q-STPNMV6KU-unsplash-1024x690.jpg?x10805" alt="Safari" class="wp-image-542096" /></figure></div>

<p>One of the most exciting features is the introduction of web apps. Similar to <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/google-chrome">Google Chrome</a>&#8216;s shortcuts, Safari allows users to place websites directly in the dock, just like any other app. Upon opening, these web apps present a minimalist interface, concealing the fact that users are interacting with a browser. By blurring the line between desktop and web apps, Safari aligns itself with Chrome&#8217;s ambition, particularly as <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/chromeOS">Chrome OS</a> gained momentum.</p>

<p>The significance of Safari&#8217;s improvements, however, lies in privacy. Not only on macOS but also on iOS 17 and iPadOS 17, private browsing now offers heightened protection against trackers and prevents sites from identifying users through their <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/fingerprints">fingerprints</a>. Additionally, private browsing sessions can be locked with a fingerprint, providing peace of mind when stepping away from the computer during sensitive activities like gift shopping.</p>

<p>Profiles are another noteworthy addition, available on both macOS and iPadOS. Users can organize their browsing by topic or context, segregating work-related tabs in a separate Safari window with dedicated cookies, extensions, and favorites. Furthermore, Safari enables the secure sharing of passwords or password groups through iCloud Keychain, utilizing end-to-end encryption. This feature not only streamlines password management but also reinforces the browser&#8217;s commitment to user privacy. </p>

<p>The latest iteration of Safari will be part of the upcoming macOS Sonoma, slated for release later this year. The beta version is set to launch next month, accompanied by the arrival of iPadOS 17 and <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/ios-17">iOS 17</a>. Apple also made a ton of other announcements at the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/wwdc-2023">WWDC 2023</a>, including <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/06/06/apple-standby-mode-iphones-update/">StandBy Mode</a>.</p>

<p>The competition among web browsers is heating up. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/01/microsoft-edge-popular-desktop-browser/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Google Chrome is the most popular browser</a>, but its competitors are not giving up. Microsoft Edge and Opera are adding new features to attract more users. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/01/microsoft-edge-bing-ai-right-click-menu/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Edge is particularly focused on artificial intelligence</a>, which it believes will give it an edge over Chrome. Google is also not sitting still. It is constantly adding new features to Chrome in an effort to stay ahead. Most recently, Google announced a new sidebar for Chrome that will allow users to customize the look and feel of their browser. Here are the details&#8230;</p>

<h2><strong>Google Chrome Side Panel Offers a Variety of Customization Options, Including Background Images, Themes, and Colors</strong></h2>

<p>Google has announced a new sidebar for Chrome that will allow users to customize the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/browser/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">look and feel of their browser</a>. The new sidebar includes a variety of options, including the ability to change the background image, theme, and colors. To access the new sidebar, open a new tab in Chrome and click on the &#8220;Customize Chrome&#8221; icon in the bottom right corner. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="760" height="439" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/google-chrome-customizable-sidebar.jpeg?x10805" alt="Google chrome sidebar" class="wp-image-540020" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/google-chrome-customizable-sidebar.jpeg 760w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/google-chrome-customizable-sidebar-300x173.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/google-chrome-customizable-sidebar-696x402.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/google-chrome-customizable-sidebar-727x420.jpeg 727w" sizes="(max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px" /></figure></div>

<p>The sidebar will open on the right side of the screen. The first option in the sidebar is the background image. You can choose from a variety of images, including landscapes, seascapes, and abstract art. You can also upload your own image. The next option is the theme. Chrome offers a variety of themes, including Classic Chrome, Chrome Colors, and Landscapes. </p>

<p>You can also create your own theme. The final option in the sidebar is the colors. You can choose from a variety of colors, including blue, red, green, and orange. You can also create your own color scheme. Once you have made your changes, click on the &#8220;Save&#8221; button. Your changes will be applied immediately. The new Chrome sidebar is a great way to customize the look and feel of your browser. With a variety of options to choose from, you can create a Chrome that reflects your personal style.</p>

<p>Google Chrome continues to be the undisputed leader in the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/01/microsoft-edge-popular-desktop-browser/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">browser market</a>. According to recent research, the company holds a 66.13% market share, far ahead of its closest competitor, Safari, with an 11.87% share. However, as in every industry, competition here benefits users and prevents leading names from becoming complacent. As a result, all browsers, including Chrome, regularly update with new features and performance improvements for users. For instance, Google recently announced the release of Chrome 113, a major update for its popular web browser. This update introduces faster AV1 video encoding for video conference calls, WebGPU by default, and various other improvements. Here are the details&#8230;</p>

<h2><strong>Chrome 113 Revolutionizes Browsing with New Features</strong></h2>

<p>Google has announced the release of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/04/25/google-chrome-web-app-play-store-like-installation-design/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Chrome</a> 113, which offers faster AV1 video encoding for video conference calls, WebGPU by default, and various other improvements. The new update is now accessible on Linux, macOS, and Windows platforms, including 15 additional security fixes. Some of these improvements are as follows:</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/google-unveils-chrome-113-1024x576.png?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-534450" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/google-unveils-chrome-113-1024x576.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/google-unveils-chrome-113-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/google-unveils-chrome-113-768x432.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/google-unveils-chrome-113-696x392.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/google-unveils-chrome-113-1068x601.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/google-unveils-chrome-113-747x420.png 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/google-unveils-chrome-113.png 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<ul><li>Faster AV1 Video Encoding<ul><li>Chrome 113 has integrated the libaom 3.6 release, which significantly speeds up CPU-based AV1 video encoding. This update will benefit all WebRTC apps, enabling faster and more efficient video conference calls. Google Meet has already tested AV1 video quality down to 40 kbps, showing its potential for use even in low bandwidth situations.</li></ul></li><li>CSS Media Features<ul><li>This release introduces the CSS overflow-inline and overflow-block media features, as well as an update to the CSS media feature.</li></ul></li><li>Linear Easing Function<ul><li>Chrome 113 adds a linear() easing function, allowing for linear interpolation between multiple points.</li></ul></li><li>Support for CSS image-set()<ul><li>The browser now supports CSS image-set() as a type for specifying a range of image options.</li></ul></li><li>WebGPU Enabled by Default<ul><li>WebGPU, the successor to WebGL, is now enabled by default in Chrome 113. This offers improved performance for high-quality 3D graphics in the web, making it an exciting development for gamers and other users who rely on advanced graphics.</li></ul></li></ul>

<p>With the release of Chrome 113, users can expect faster and more efficient video conference calls, better support for CSS media features, and improved 3D graphics performance with WebGPU enabled by default.</p>

<p>There are some habits in our daily lives that we just can&#8217;t do without, and changing them isn&#8217;t easy at all. In my opinion, for many of us, our web browser is one such habit. That&#8217;s why we download <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/04/25/google-chrome-web-app-play-store-like-installation-design/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Google Chrome</a> on our devices instead of using the Edge or Safari that comes pre-installed. It feels like we never switched to a new device as we continue using the same browser with the same features and settings. However, it seems that this situation isn&#8217;t pleasing to some companies. According to recent information, Microsoft is forcing Outlook and Teams to open links in Edge. Here are the details&#8230;</p>

<h2><strong>Microsoft is forcing Outlook and Teams to open links in Edge</strong></h2>

<p>Introduced in 2015, Microsoft Edge brought an end to the 20-year reign of Internet Explorer and has undoubtedly become one of the best browsers in the market. However, it has been unable to achieve the success it deserves. Many first-time Windows users still download Google Chrome as their first task. In fact, a recent report revealed that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2023/05/01/microsoft-edge-popular-desktop-browser/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Microsoft Edge</a> is in worse shape than we thought, losing its second place in the computer browser market to Safari. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/microsoft-forcing-outlook-teams-open-links-edge-1024x576.jpeg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-534417" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/microsoft-forcing-outlook-teams-open-links-edge-1024x576.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/microsoft-forcing-outlook-teams-open-links-edge-300x169.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/microsoft-forcing-outlook-teams-open-links-edge-768x432.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/microsoft-forcing-outlook-teams-open-links-edge-696x392.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/microsoft-forcing-outlook-teams-open-links-edge-1068x601.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/microsoft-forcing-outlook-teams-open-links-edge-746x420.jpeg 746w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/05/microsoft-forcing-outlook-teams-open-links-edge.jpeg 1500w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>In response to these developments, Microsoft has taken some &#8220;unpleasant&#8221; measures to change the course. According to notifications sent to IT admins through the Microsoft 365 admin center, Outlook and Teams will no longer use your default browser to open clicked links. Instead, they will force users to use Microsoft Edge. This won&#8217;t change your default browser settings, and you can continue to use alternatives like Google Chrome for everything else. </p>

<p>However, as part of the Windows operating system, these two essential applications will take away your customizable settings and push you to use Microsoft Edge. Users quickly reacted to this development, and Microsoft has defended the move, stating that it aims to simplify the user experience and reduce task switching between windows and tabs. Still, this weak defense has failed to satisfy anyone. The company may need to reconsider its approach if it wants to win over users and maintain a positive image.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/microsoft/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Microsoft </a>has just released a new limited public preview of its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/microsoft-edge/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Edge </a>Workspace feature. The new Edge browser will basically let you share a bunch of browser tabs simultaneously with a single link.</p>

<p>The new Microsoft Edge Workspace feature will allow users to be able to save and share a set of browser tabs using a single link. This will not only lower the time required to share individual links, but it helps in sharing a bunch of these tabs together. One can even save a bunch of tabs that are related to the same topic and label them within the Edge browser. To put things simply, users can now save groups of tabs like how they bookmark a single one in the past. </p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="582" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/microsoft-edge-workspace-feature-image-1024x582.webp?x10805" alt="Microsoft" class="wp-image-527954" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/microsoft-edge-workspace-feature-image-1024x582.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/microsoft-edge-workspace-feature-image-300x171.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/microsoft-edge-workspace-feature-image-768x436.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/microsoft-edge-workspace-feature-image-696x396.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/microsoft-edge-workspace-feature-image-1068x607.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/microsoft-edge-workspace-feature-image-739x420.webp 739w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/microsoft-edge-workspace-feature-image.webp 1485w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>Interestingly enough, this is quite similar to Microsoft Edge&#8217;s existing &#8216;Collections&#8217; feature that lets you save and organize websites. So, the new Edge Workspace features brings additional functionality with the ability of saving and sharing groups of tabs between your own devices, or to your friends. Furthermore, it will even let the other parties add or edit the tabs in real time.</p>

<p>The new Edge Workspace feature can be found on the top left corner of the browser. Clicking on this will have you see an option to create and name the new Workspace. These tabs can be shared by simply clicking on the &#8216;Invite&#8217; button to the right of the Edge&#8217;s address bar and then copy the link. </p>

<p>Google Chrome is the undisputed market leader when it comes to web browsers. It&#8217;s has speed, app sport, and integration with other Google services. This make the browser indispensable for many of us. For this reason, its competitors have to make much more effort to be preferred. For example, they can request much lower system requirements or provide features that are available with add-ons in Chrome as default. Lastly, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Microsoft-Edge/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Microsoft Edge</a> 110 added a built-in VPN following this policy, but only for select users. Here are the details&#8230;</p>

<h2><strong>Microsoft Edge 110 has a built-in VPN</strong></h2>

<p>Microsoft has been testing a version of its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Microsoft-Edge/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Edge</a> with a built-in VPN service for about a year. Now, the company has rolled out the feature to some users in the latest stable version. The new feature, called Secure Network, has been implemented in partnership with Cloudflare and provides users with 1GB of secure VPN traffic as part of the free plan. The fact that the feature has reached the final stages of implementation suggests that Microsoft is likely to announce pricing and a full release of the Edge Secure Network soon.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/microsoft-edge-110-has-a-built-in-vpn-but-not-for-everyone-yet-1024x576.jpeg?x10805" alt="Microsoft Edge" class="wp-image-517129" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/microsoft-edge-110-has-a-built-in-vpn-but-not-for-everyone-yet-1024x576.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/microsoft-edge-110-has-a-built-in-vpn-but-not-for-everyone-yet-300x169.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/microsoft-edge-110-has-a-built-in-vpn-but-not-for-everyone-yet-768x432.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/microsoft-edge-110-has-a-built-in-vpn-but-not-for-everyone-yet-696x392.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/microsoft-edge-110-has-a-built-in-vpn-but-not-for-everyone-yet-1068x601.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/microsoft-edge-110-has-a-built-in-vpn-but-not-for-everyone-yet-747x420.jpeg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/microsoft-edge-110-has-a-built-in-vpn-but-not-for-everyone-yet.jpeg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The Secure Network VPN feature emphasizes the privacy benefits of using a VPN rather than its ability to circumvent regional restrictions by changing the user&#8217;s IP address. The service automatically selects servers in the user’s region for safe operation on public networks. In other words, users can only use the Secure Network to protect their privacy.</p>

<p>According to screenshots of Edge 110, which have appeared online, the VPN service supports three modes of operation: &#8220;Selected Sites,&#8221; &#8220;Optimized,&#8221; and &#8220;All Sites.&#8221; This suggests that users will have the option to choose which sites they want to protect with the VPN, or to turn it on for all sites. It&#8217;s worth noting that Google added a free VPN to its Pixel 7 series smartphones late last year. However, Microsoft&#8217;s decision to integrate a VPN directly into its web browser is a significant step that could lead to increased use of VPNs among its users.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/microsoft-edge-110-has-a-built-in-vpn-but-not-for-everyone-yet-2-1024x576.jpeg?x10805" alt="Microsoft Edge " class="wp-image-517131" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/microsoft-edge-110-has-a-built-in-vpn-but-not-for-everyone-yet-2-1024x576.jpeg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/microsoft-edge-110-has-a-built-in-vpn-but-not-for-everyone-yet-2-300x169.jpeg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/microsoft-edge-110-has-a-built-in-vpn-but-not-for-everyone-yet-2-768x432.jpeg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/microsoft-edge-110-has-a-built-in-vpn-but-not-for-everyone-yet-2-696x392.jpeg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/microsoft-edge-110-has-a-built-in-vpn-but-not-for-everyone-yet-2-1068x601.jpeg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/microsoft-edge-110-has-a-built-in-vpn-but-not-for-everyone-yet-2-747x420.jpeg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/microsoft-edge-110-has-a-built-in-vpn-but-not-for-everyone-yet-2.jpeg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>The integration of a VPN service into a major web browser marks a significant step forward for online privacy and security. But it&#8217;s not likely to become the industry standard until Google starts using it.</p>

<p>Google Chrome is a widely popular web browser due to its fast speed and user-friendly interface. However, it is also known for being a resource-intensive browser that can consume a significant amount of battery and system memory. This can be particularly frustrating for users with low-power devices or those who multitask while browsing the web. Luckily, this problem will solve with the new features.</p>

<h3>New Google Chrome features to save battery and make browsing smoother</h3>

<p>Google has announced that it will be optimizing its Chrome web browser for battery and system memory. The company will be rolling out new performance settings that will reduce Chrome&#8217;s memory usage by up to 40% to improve the stability of open tabs. The new modes, called Memory Saver and Energy Saver, will be available globally for Windows, macOS, and ChromeOS in the coming weeks.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/google-chrome-will-now-consume-much-less-ram-and-energy-1-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="" class="wp-image-501121" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/google-chrome-will-now-consume-much-less-ram-and-energy-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/google-chrome-will-now-consume-much-less-ram-and-energy-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/google-chrome-will-now-consume-much-less-ram-and-energy-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/google-chrome-will-now-consume-much-less-ram-and-energy-1-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/google-chrome-will-now-consume-much-less-ram-and-energy-1-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/google-chrome-will-now-consume-much-less-ram-and-energy-1-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/12/google-chrome-will-now-consume-much-less-ram-and-energy-1.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Memory Saver mode is designed to help users who have many tabs open at the same time. It will reduce the memory usage of each tab, allowing users to keep more tabs open without causing their device to slow down. Memory Saver mode frees up memory from tabs you aren’t currently using so the active websites you’re browsing have the smoothest possible experience. This is especially useful if you’re running other intensive applications, like editing family videos or playing games. Any inactive tabs will be reloaded when you need them.</p>

<p>Energy Saver mode is designed to help users extend their device&#8217;s battery life while using Chrome. It will automatically activate when a user&#8217;s device battery level drops to 20%, and it will reduce energy consumption by limiting background activity and visual effects for websites with animations and videos. This can be particularly useful for users who rely on their devices for long periods of time without access to a power source.</p>

<p>These new modes are part of Google&#8217;s ongoing efforts to improve the performance and efficiency of Chrome. The company has also recently introduced other features, such as tab grouping and tab search, to help users manage their open tabs more efficiently. With the addition of Memory Saver and Energy Saver modes, Chrome users will have even more control over how the browser uses their device&#8217;s resources. You can find these controls under the three-dot menu in Chrome.</p>

<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-428993 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-03-230348.png?x10805" alt="Vivaldi for Android smartphones" width="938" height="528" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-03-230348.png 938w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-03-230348-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-03-230348-768x432.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-03-230348-696x392.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-03-230348-746x420.png 746w" sizes="(max-width: 938px) 100vw, 938px" /></p>
<p>The new feature comes with its 5.0 update and enables users to keep two separate rows of tabs open at once, placing one on top of the other row. The &#8220;two-level tab stacks&#8221; solution was launched earlier this year in the browser&#8217;s desktop version and now has come to Android devices. Yes, that includes Android tablets, which get a whole host of improvements and new features, but more on that later.</p>
<h4>Vivaldi 5.0 for Android smartphones</h4>
<p>To enable this new feature, you have to long-press the New Tab button and select &#8220;New Tab Stack.&#8221; That should allow you to start using the new stack/group you created, with the current tab and one new additional tab.</p>
<p>In addition to the two-level tab stack feature, the 5.0 update also brings an improved tab interface and new ways to tweak the tab bar. The built-in Notes tool has been enhanced too so that users can quickly handle big chunks of text from a webpage to an existing note with an &#8220;Append to Note&#8221; option when highlighting text. Lastly, the update also brings dark mode for websites. When you toggle this feature, the browser automatically changes the site background color to black, making it easier on the eyes. This setting is saved on a per-site basis.</p>
<h4>Vivaldi for Android tablets</h4>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-428995 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-03-230553.png?x10805" alt="Vivaldi for Android tablets" width="936" height="526" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-03-230553.png 936w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-03-230553-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-03-230553-768x432.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-03-230553-696x391.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/Screenshot-2021-12-03-230553-747x420.png 747w" sizes="(max-width: 936px) 100vw, 936px" /></p>
<p>Vivaldi 5.0 also improves support for Android tablets. The tablet platform also gets the &#8220;two-level tab stacks&#8221; feature with an additional way of creating a new stack by simply dragging tabs onto one another to create a new tab stack.</p>
<p>Like the desktop browser, tablet users can now enable panels that appear on the left and provide quick access to functions such as bookmarks, history, notes, etc.</p>
<p>For those unaware, Vivaldi is a freeware, cross-platform web browser developed by Vivaldi Technologies, a Norway-based company founded by Tatsuki Tomita and Jon Stephenson von Tetzchner, who was the co-founder and CEO of Opera Software.</p>
<p>Although intended for general users, it is first and foremost targeted towards technically-inclined users as well as former Opera users disgruntled by its transition from the Presto layout engine to a Chromium-based browser that resulted in the loss of many of its iconic features.</p>

<p>For those unaware, the American tech giant had basically made it a one click process to set Edge as the default browser. However, browsers from other firms had to go through a complicated tasks, which would&#8217;ve been quite an annoying task for many users. Although, Mozilla has quietly managed to defeat this with its version 91 of Firefox. The company achieved this by reverse engineering the way Microsoft sets Edge as the default browser in Windows 10.</p>
<p>This enabled it to set Firefox as a default browser quicker. Prior to this, one would have to go to Windows 10&#8217;s settings to select Firefox as the default browser, all the while Microsoft would ask you to consider Edge. Furthermore, the reverse engineering also meant that you can even set the default browser from with Firefox itself without requiring any additional prompts. But keep in mind that this circumvents the Microsoft anti hijacking protections that is built into Windows 10 to prevent malware from hijacking default apps.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-407253 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/nBhaqDv.jpg?x10805" alt="Mozilla" width="1400" height="788" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/nBhaqDv.jpg 1400w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/nBhaqDv-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/nBhaqDv-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/nBhaqDv-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/nBhaqDv-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/nBhaqDv-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/nBhaqDv-746x420.jpg 746w" sizes="(max-width: 1400px) 100vw, 1400px" /></p>
<p>A Mozilla spokesperson stated that &#8220;People should have the ability to simply and easily set defaults, but they don’t. All operating systems should offer official developer support for default status so people can easily set their apps as default. Since that hasn’t happened on Windows 10 and 11, Firefox relies on other aspects of the Windows environment to give people an experience similar to what Windows provides to Edge when users choose Firefox to be their default browser.&#8221;</p>

<p>The feature has the capability of spotting compromised passwords within the list of saved passwords on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/chrome">Chrome</a>, and then offer users advice on how to fix them. It will crosscheck saved credentials against a list of credentials that are known to be compromised.</p>

<p>For those who are concerned about privacy and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/security">security</a>, the company says that usernames and passwords are sent to the company in a special form of encryption so that the company cannot get hold of the data.</p>
<p>If Chrome spots a compromised password, it will offer users an option to directly go to the &#8220;change password&#8221; form of the associated service or platform.</p>

<p>For those who are using Chrome on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ios">iOS</a> devices, it will now allow users to autofill saved login credentials into other apps and browsers.
