The tee-off guidance adjusts based on the player’s ability, and you can change the par to match their skill level. It also suggests which clubs to use and shows celebratory animations. Garmin is expanding its high-end marine wearables lineup with the launch of the quatix 8 Pro. The flagship smartwatch is designed specifically for individuals who spend a significant amount of time on the water. 

The quatix 8 Pro doesn’t stray far from its predecessor’s design language. Garmin has equipped the watch with a 47mm titanium bezel, a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, and a 1.4-inch high-brightness AMOLED display. The display is readable in direct sunlight and tough enough to withstand saltwater, spray, and extended periods at sea.

Offshore connectivity, 24-hour response center, and more

Where the quatix 8 Pro really separates itself from standard smartwatches is connectivity. Garmin is targeting one of the biggest frustrations of offshore boating: losing signal. 

The watch integrates inReach satellite technology alongside an LTE cellular module, allowing users to stay connected even when they’re as far as 50 miles (80.4 km) offshore. As a result, users can send text messages, make voice calls, and check real-time weather updates without needing a phone. 

The quatix 8 Pro also includes an SOS emergency rescue function that lets users send a distress signal directly from the watch. That signal goes to Garmin’s 24-hour Response emergency center, which the company says has already coordinated more than 1,200 successful water rescues. 

On the software side, Garmin is introducing a new Boat Mode. The interface adapts automatically based on where you are. When you’re on the water, marine tools like autopilot controls, trolling motor status, and vessel data are pinned front and center. Once you’re back on land — at work or at the gym — those tools are replaced by everyday apps and health metrics.

Despite packing a bright AMOLED display and constant connectivity options, Garmin says the quatix 8 Pro can still deliver up to 15 days of battery life in smartwatch mode. Beyond its nautical focus, it also supports all-day health tracking, Garmin Pay, and more than 100 sports modes, including water-specific activities like wakeboarding and waterskiing.

Garmin quatix 8 Pro is priced $1,299.99 for the sole 47mm variant and is scheduled to go on sale starting January 16th.

It does not have built-in GPS but can access GPS data when paired with a GPS-enabled Garmin camera. It supports microSD cards from 8 GB to 512 GB. The Dash Cam X 110 records 1440p HDR video and has a 2.41 inch color TFT LCD display with a resolution of 480 by 272 pixels. The Dash Cam X310 is the top model. It records 1440p HDR video at up to 60 frames per second with the same 140 degree field of view. It includes a 2.41 inch display, GPS, Galileo, voice control and incident detection. It supports Live View, Parking Guard, multi-camera syncing, Wi-Fi connectivity and Garmin Vault cloud storage. It uses a rechargeable lithium-ion battery with up to 20 minutes of backup time and supports microSD cards up to 512 GB.

Support responses initially misunderstood, but a shared screenshot reveals Garmin confirming: “Starting with the 5.18 release… DND settings on an Android phone will carry over to notifications on Garmin watches.” They pledged a reversal in an upcoming update, though no timeline was given—potentially weeks away.

Garmin has launched the Bounce 2, a smartwatch for kids with LTE connectivity that allows parents to stay in touch through two-way calling, text messaging, and real-time location tracking. The watch also offers fun and activity-focused features for children.

Garmin Bounce 2 features:

Using the Garmin Jr. app on a compatible smartphone, parents and approved contacts can call or send messages to their child. Bounce 2 has a built-in speaker and microphone for calls and voice messages. Kids can respond with voice messages or use the full keyboard to send texts. Voice message transcriptions allow parents to read messages when listening is not possible.

The watch shows the child’s location in real-time and supports temporary geofencing. Parents are notified when the child enters or leaves a designated area.

Garmin has launched the Venu 4 series in two sizes, 41mm and 45mm. Both models use AMOLED displays, long battery life, and a wide range of health and fitness features.

The 41mm version has a 1.2-inch AMOLED screen with a 390×390 resolution. It weighs 33g without the band and 46g with the band. The strap is 18mm silicone. The 45mm version has a 1.4-inch AMOLED screen with a 454×454 resolution. It weighs 38g without the band and 56g with the band. Its strap is 22mm silicone.

Garmin has started pushing out a new beta update for its Instinct smartwatch lineup, bringing a handful of bug fixes aimed at improving reliability. The update, version 10.36, covers the Instinct 3 AMOLED, Instinct 3 Solar, and Instinct E models and is available now through the Garmin Connect app or Garmin Express.

The update follows the stable 10.30 build released in August and takes aim at several frustrating issues. One major fix applies to all models, correcting a problem with the Broadcast Heart Rate feature that failed to work properly when triggered with a hot key. That should make sharing heart rate data during workouts more seamless.

For the Instinct 3 Solar and AMOLED versions, Garmin has fixed a strobe light bug that left the flashlight running even after exiting an activity. Meanwhile, Instinct 3 Solar and Instinct E users get a fix for Connect IQ data fields, which now show up correctly in glances. A temperature display issue in the weather glance has also been addressed.

Runners using the Instinct 3 Solar will welcome a fix for a crash that occurred when pairing with Garmin’s Running Dynamics Pod. This should make setup smoother and more reliable.

While the update doesn’t add new features, it’s a welcome round of polish. Garmin has launched the Enduro 3 smartwatch in India, following its global debut. Designed for outdoor enthusiasts, the watch features a built-in GPS.

The watch’s solar-charging system extends GPS mode usage to 320 hours, doubling the solar efficiency of earlier models. Its SatIQ technology helps save battery by automatically switching between GPS modes while maintaining location accuracy.

Durability and Navigation Tools

The watch has a titanium bezel, a scratch-resistant sapphire lens, and a nylon band, making it suitable for tough outdoor conditions. It includes an LED flashlight with adjustable brightness, red light, and strobe modes. Navigation features include preloaded TopoActive maps for trails, golf courses, and ski resorts, along with dynamic round-trip routing and NextFork Map Guides for real-time directions.

Fitness and Health Tracking

For trail runners, the watch tracks VO2 max, adjusts pace recommendations based on terrain incline, and monitors heat/altitude adaptation. It provides 4-6 week strength training plans, sport-specific workouts, and performance metrics like training load and recovery. Health monitoring covers HRV status, blood oxygen levels (Pulse Ox), sleep patterns and includes an FDA-cleared ECG app for heart rhythm analysis.

Connectivity and Additional Features
Users can send texts via Garmin Messenger, share locations/workouts with Garmin Share, and make payments using Garmin Pay. The watch supports music streaming from Spotify, Deezer, or Amazon Music and syncs with smartphones for notifications.

Pricing & availability

The Enduro 3 is now available on Garmin’s India website and at select retail stores for Rs. 1,05,990, backed by a two-year warranty. The watch is priced at $900 in the U.S.

Users are advised to power off their devices, restart them, and sync with the Garmin Connect app or Garmin Express. While the root cause remains unclear, a faulty firmware update affecting GPS subsystems is the likely culprit.

Garmin is apparently gearing up to launch a new smartwatch from its Instinct lineup. The Garmin Instinct 3 was just spotted in a new leak, confirming details like solar fast charging and repair costs. So here’s everything you need to know about this new smart wearable.

Garmin Instinct 3: What’s special about this smartwatch?

Garming’s upcoming Instinct 3 smartwatch recently surfaced on a support page on the brand’s website. This listing revealed its repair costs as well. The leak also confirms that the solar charging feature is returning on one version of the wearable. To recall, the Instinct 2 launched back in 2022 with this same feature on its Solar variant. The Instinct Solar 3 was spotted on the Garmin website in Spain, which listed it on a support page (Via NotebookCheck).

Based on what we know so far, there is a 45mm variant that will launch in black with the model number 010-02934-00. This variant also has a repair cost of 133.33 Euros. To recall, the Instinct 2 Solar had a repair cost of 128.57 Euros. In other words, the next gen Garmin Instinct 3 is likely getting a price hike. Last year’s Instinct 2 cost 449.99 US Dollars on launch, so the Instinct 3 might be hitting the 500 US Dollar price mark.

Unfortunately, the exact size variants of the Garmin Instinct 3 is still at large. But there might be a 40mm, 45mm, and 50mm opinion as well. Garmin could also launch a non solar variant alongside the solar charging version. The upcoming smartwatch will likely launch in early 2025 in multiple color options. The Garmin Forerunner 165 series is aimed at runners and athletes. Hence, both models pack various running-related features like race adaptive training, race predictor, wrist-based running dynamics, and more. As usual, the wearable devices are equipped with the common other features. These include heart-rate monitor (along with HRV), pulse ox sensor, VO2 Max, sleep monitor, body battery energy monitor, women’s health tracker etc. The Forerunner 165 duo have sleep tracking along with the ability to detect naps and monitor stress levels. The smartwatch also offers a morning report that consists of an overview of sleep and training outlook. 

The Garmin Forerunner 165 series come with 25 built-in activities. There is also built-in GPS with PacePro feature. The smartwatches are claimed to deliver 11 days of battery life in normal mode and 19 hours with GPS enabled. 

The Garmin Forerunner 165 comes with convenient features like livetrack, safety and tracking, smart notifications, Garmin Pay, and more. The Forerunner 165 Music has 4GB onboard storage for downloading and storing songs and playlist from Spotify, Amazon Music, and Deezer. It also offers audio prompts that delivers audio updates when paired with a smartphone. 

The Garmin Forerunner 165 is priced at $249 whereas the Forerunner 165 Music costs $299. Both are offered in Black and Mist Gray colors. There is also an additional color options for the standard and music variants. These are Turquoise and Berry.

Garmin is set to launch the Forerunner 165, a new entry-level smartwatch designed to replace the Forerunner 55. This upcoming model has been leaked (via 91mobiles) ahead of its European release.

As per the report, the Forerunner 165 will be available in Black, White, and Turquoise, featuring a larger display and an updated design. Compared to its predecessor, the Forerunner 165 appears to feature slightly slimmer bezels and an overall less bulky design. The redesigned “Run” button is now more accessible, reflecting Garmin’s focus on user-friendly features. The watch is priced at €279 for the standard version, with a Music variant costing €329, offering built-in storage for media.

Key specifications of the Forerunner 165 include a 1.2-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 390×390 pixels. It also features a barometric altimeter for accurate elevation data and Garmin’s “Elevate V4” PPG sensor for precise heart rate monitoring. However, it is noted that this model may have a shorter battery life of 11 days compared to its predecessor.

The smartwatch supports 20 mm quick-release bands, fitting between the sizes of the Forerunner 265 and 265S. This makes it a versatile option for different wrist sizes. Despite its entry-level positioning, the Forerunner 165 Music version comes with 4GB of storage.

In related news, Garmin has showcased the HRM-Fit Heart Rate Monitor for Sports Bras at the CES 2024. Unlike traditional heart rate monitors, the HRM-Fit attaches to the bottom band of a sports bra and is compatible with sports bras from renowned brands like Adidas and Under Armour.
