<p>Huawei has started rolling out a new software update for the Huawei Pura X Max foldable smartphone. The latest HarmonyOS 6.1.0.125 SP13 update arrives with a package size of around 1.67GB and introduces several new features, including a limited-time camera watermark, theme enhancements, 3D visual effects, and a new single-app volume adjustment tool.</p>

<p>The rollout is being released in phases, which means some users may receive the update later than others.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="941" height="483" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-39.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-740936" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-39.png 941w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-39-300x154.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-39-768x394.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-39-696x357.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/image-39-818x420.png 818w" sizes="(max-width: 941px) 100vw, 941px" /></figure></div>

<h2><strong>New Limited-Time Camera Watermark</strong></h2>

<p>One of the biggest additions in the update is a new aesthetic-inspired limited-time watermark feature for the camera app. Huawei says the watermark can be applied to photos captured until September 15, 2026 (00:00).</p>

<p>Users can enable or disable the watermark, change its background color, and even customize the text according to their preferences. The feature can be accessed through the Camera settings menu.</p>

<p><strong>Path:</strong><strong><br></strong>Camera → Swipe Up/Toolbox → Settings → Auto Add Watermark → Limited Time Watermark</p>

<h2><strong>Bumper Park Theme Gets New 3D Clock Styles</strong></h2>

<p>Huawei has also refreshed the Bumper Park theme with two new 3D clock layouts. The clock color automatically adapts to match the lock screen wallpaper, creating a more personalized appearance.</p>

<p>The new interactive clock can also be tapped directly on the lock screen for a more dynamic user experience.</p>

<p>To use the feature, users need to enable the &#8220;Clock and Battery Display as Stickers&#8221; option within the Bumper Park theme editor.</p>

<h2><strong>New 3D Charging Animations and Headphone Effects</strong></h2>

<p>The update adds several visual enhancements, including new 3D charging animations and redesigned headphone pop-up skins. These effects become available after users reapply the updated Bumper Park theme.</p>

<p><strong>Path:</strong><strong><br></strong>Settings → Desktop &amp; Personalization → More Themes → Bumper Park</p>

<p>These additions are designed to make the device feel more interactive while improving the overall visual experience.</p>

<h2><strong>Single-App Volume Adjustment Now Available</strong></h2>

<p>Another practical feature included in HarmonyOS 6.1.0.125 is separate volume control for individual applications. Users can now adjust the volume of a specific app without affecting the overall media volume.</p>

<p>To use the feature, simply press a volume button while media is playing, expand the volume panel by swiping left, and adjust the volume slider for the active app.</p>

<p><strong>Path:<br></strong>Settings → Sound &amp; Vibration → Separate Application Volume Adjustment</p>

<h2><strong>System Stability and Performance Improvements</strong></h2>

<p>In addition to new features, Huawei says the update optimizes system stability in certain scenarios and improves system extension capabilities. The company also notes that overall functionality and user experience have been enhanced.</p>

<h2><strong>Huawei Pura X Max Specifications</strong></h2>

<p>The Huawei Pura X Max is powered by the Kirin 9030 Pro processor and is the first Huawei foldable smartphone to feature the Xiaoyi Companion AI assistant. It also supports 5A network speeds and was officially launched on April 25, 2026.</p>

<p>Huawei markets the device as the industry&#8217;s first horizontally foldable smartphone, combining flagship hardware with advanced AI capabilities.</p>

<h3><strong>Huawei Pura X Max Pricing</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-table"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Variant</strong></td><td><strong>Price</strong></td></tr><tr><td>12GB + 256GB</td><td>¥10,999 (<strong>~$1,618</strong>)</td></tr><tr><td>12GB + 512GB</td><td>¥11,999 (<strong>~$1,765</strong>)</td></tr><tr><td>16GB + 512GB (Collector&#8217;s Edition)</td><td>¥12,999 (<strong>~$1,912</strong>)</td></tr><tr><td>16GB + 1TB (Collector&#8217;s Edition)</td><td>¥13,999 (<strong>~$2,059</strong>)</td></tr></tbody></table></figure>

<p>Some of the most exciting phones in the world right now are ones you simply cannot walk into a store and buy, not if you live in the United States, anyway. While Americans are busy debating <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/09/15/iphone-17-pro-max-vs-google-pixel-10-pro-which-should-you-buy/">iPhone versus Pixel</a>, a whole other tier of smartphones is being sold in China, Europe, and parts of Asia that would make your current device feel embarrassingly ordinary.&nbsp;</p>

<p>These phones push cameras, screens, and designs further than anything available at your local carrier store. You just can&#8217;t have them. Well, not easily.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="512" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/vivo-X300-Ultra-Review_1.mp4_20260408_144417.444-1024x512.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-733823" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/vivo-X300-Ultra-Review_1.mp4_20260408_144417.444-1024x512.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/vivo-X300-Ultra-Review_1.mp4_20260408_144417.444-300x150.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/vivo-X300-Ultra-Review_1.mp4_20260408_144417.444-768x384.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/vivo-X300-Ultra-Review_1.mp4_20260408_144417.444-1536x768.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/vivo-X300-Ultra-Review_1.mp4_20260408_144417.444-696x348.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/vivo-X300-Ultra-Review_1.mp4_20260408_144417.444-1068x534.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/vivo-X300-Ultra-Review_1.mp4_20260408_144417.444-840x420.jpg 840w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/vivo-X300-Ultra-Review_1.mp4_20260408_144417.444.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p><em>To be clear</em>, this isn&#8217;t a list of what&#8217;s coming soon or what might launch in the US someday. These are phones you can buy right now, just not in the US. Some are blocked due to trade restrictions. Others never made the trip because the manufacturers decided the market wasn&#8217;t worth the trouble. A few exist in a legal grey area that makes importing them genuinely complicated. Whatever the reason, they&#8217;re out there, and they&#8217;re good. Really good.</p>

<p>So if you&#8217;re curious what the rest of the world is using. Or if you&#8217;re the kind of person who&#8217;s already Googling import guides, here&#8217;s what you&#8217;re missing.</p>

<h3><strong>Xiaomi 17 Ultra</strong></h3>

<p><strong>Display</strong> 6.9-inch LTPO OLED, 2608×1200, 3,500 nits peak, 120Hz <strong>Chip</strong> Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 <strong>Cameras</strong> 50MP main (1-inch Leica sensor, f/1.7) + 50MP ultrawide + 200MP periscope telephoto <strong>Battery</strong> 6,000mAh — 90W wired, 50W wireless <strong>Durability</strong> IP66/IP68/IP69</p>

<p>Xiaomi has been building its partnership with Leica for a few years, and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-17-ultra/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">17 Ultra </a>is where that work really pays off. The main camera sits on a one-inch sensor, and we called it one of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/12/30/xiaomi-17-ultra-by-leica-unboxing-hands-on-makes-photography-feel-more-special%EF%BF%BC/">most ambitious smartphones of the year </a>after getting hands-on time with it at launch.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/screenshot-20251230-100846-1024x511.jpg?x44794" alt="" /></figure></div>

<p>What sets it apart from the usual flagship camera race is the Leica Essential mode, which <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/01/05/xiaomi-17-ultra-leica-edition-review-they-built-a-more-leica-phone-than-leica/">gives photos their emotions back</a>. Rather than chasing sharpness and perfect accuracy, it pulls back highlights, lets shadows breathe, and adds a subtle grain that makes images feel like they were taken with a real camera rather than optimised by a computer. It&#8217;s a genuinely different philosophy, and it works.</p>

<p>The battery is the biggest in any Xiaomi Ultra device yet, and the phone is rated for dust and water resistance at three separate ingress protection levels. It starts at around €1,249 in Europe.</p>

<h3><strong>Oppo Find X9 Ultra</strong></h3>

<p><strong>Display</strong> 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED, 3168×1440, 144Hz <strong>Chip</strong> Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 <strong>Cameras</strong> 200MP main (Hasselblad) + 200MP periscope telephoto + 50MP secondary telephoto + 50MP ultrawide <strong>Battery</strong> 7,050mAh — 100W SuperVOOC wired, 50W AirVOOC wireless <strong>Durability</strong> IP66/IP68/IP69</p>

<p>The Find X9 Ultra is Oppo&#8217;s most powerful phone yet, and it comes with a camera setup that looks borderline excessive on paper. Two 200-megapixel sensors, a third 50-megapixel periscope, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide.&nbsp;</p>

<p>So as you might guess, the Find X9 Ultra targets the ultra-premium segment, competing directly with the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Vivo X300 Ultra as one of the most camera-forward phones on the market.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Oppo-Find-X9-Ultra-Design.jpg?x44794" alt="Oppo Find X9 Ultra Design" class="wp-image-735648" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Oppo-Find-X9-Ultra-Design.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Oppo-Find-X9-Ultra-Design-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Oppo-Find-X9-Ultra-Design-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Oppo-Find-X9-Ultra-Design-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Oppo-Find-X9-Ultra-Design-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>The Hasselblad tuning on the camera gives the results a <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOE5TJ__RAo" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">more natural, less processed quality </a>that&#8217;s different from what Samsung or Google serve up. The Find X9 Ultra leans into a more expressive design with eco-leather options that give a tactile, character-driven feel.</p>

<p>It starts at Rs 169,999 in India, or about $1,776 at current exchange rates. Not cheap, but then again, you&#8217;re getting four cameras, with two of them shooting at 200 megapixels.</p>

<h3><strong>Vivo X300 Ultra</strong></h3>

<p><strong>Display</strong> 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED, 1440p, 144Hz, Dolby Vision, Zeiss Master Color <strong>Chip</strong> Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 <strong>Cameras</strong> 200MP main (Sony LYTIA 901 sensor) + 200MP periscope telephoto + 50MP ultrawide <strong>Battery</strong> 6,600mAh — 100W wired, 40W wireless <strong>Durability </strong>IP68/IP69</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/vivo/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Vivo</a> has been making some of the most interesting camera phones in the world for a couple of years now, and the<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-x300-ultra/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> X300 Ultra</a> continues that streak. Though the upgrades this year are just too incremental.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Our first impression of the phone was that it <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/04/01/vivo-x300-ultra-hands-on-it-might-as-well-be-called-the-x200s-ultra/">might as well be called the X200s Ultra</a>. Not to say the improvements aren’t noticeable, but modest compared to the generational leap of its predecessor.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="512" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/vivo-X300-Ultra-Review_1.mp4_20260408_143510.060-1024x512.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-733778" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/vivo-X300-Ultra-Review_1.mp4_20260408_143510.060-1024x512.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/vivo-X300-Ultra-Review_1.mp4_20260408_143510.060-300x150.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/vivo-X300-Ultra-Review_1.mp4_20260408_143510.060-768x384.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/vivo-X300-Ultra-Review_1.mp4_20260408_143510.060-1536x768.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/vivo-X300-Ultra-Review_1.mp4_20260408_143510.060-696x348.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/vivo-X300-Ultra-Review_1.mp4_20260408_143510.060-1068x534.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/vivo-X300-Ultra-Review_1.mp4_20260408_143510.060-840x420.jpg 840w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/vivo-X300-Ultra-Review_1.mp4_20260408_143510.060.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>That said, what it does well, it does exceptionally. For instance, the &#8220;Raw Lighting&#8221; mode dials back the computational processing to produce images that look more like they came from a professional camera than a phone. Saturation is reduced, sharpening is toned down, and the fine details come out more naturally. It&#8217;s the kind of feature that&#8217;s far more useful day-to-day than any flashy filter.</p>

<p>The main camera uses a Sony LYTIA 901 sensor, and Zeiss handles the colour calibration. The telephoto is a genuine upgrade over last year&#8217;s, though we found a noticeable difference only in low light. In good lighting, the gap between the X300 Ultra and X200 Ultra is minimal.</p>

<p>The 6,600mAh cell and 100W wired charging run everything. Available from around €1,999.</p>

<h3><strong>Huawei Pura 90 Pro Max&nbsp;</strong></h3>

<p><strong>Display</strong> 6.9-inch LTPO OLED, 1.5K, 120Hz, Kunlun Glass <strong>Chip</strong> Kirin 9030S <strong>Cameras</strong> 50MP main (RYYB sensor, f/1.4–f/4.0 variable aperture) + 200MP periscope telephoto + 40MP ultrawide <strong>Battery</strong> 6,000mAh — 100W wired <strong>Durability</strong> IP68/IP69</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei </a>is the most complicated name on this list. US trade restrictions have essentially cut the company off from American markets, and using one here comes with real trade-offs — no Google services, limited app support, and software that takes some patience to work around.</p>

<p>With all of that said, the Pura 90 Pro Max&#8217;s camera system is genuinely worth knowing about. The Pro Max is the top of the lineup this time, and it leads with a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, a first for any Huawei flagship. The phone also supports up to 20x telephoto video recording using that same lens, putting it in rarefied company on the zoom front.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-90-Pro-Max-Design.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei-Pura-90-Pro-Max-Design" class="wp-image-734092" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-90-Pro-Max-Design.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-90-Pro-Max-Design-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-90-Pro-Max-Design-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-90-Pro-Max-Design-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-90-Pro-Max-Design-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>The main camera uses a variable aperture that physically adjusts like a real camera — ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0 — which gives you more control over depth of field than any fixed-lens phone can match. Huawei calls this its second-generation Red Maple Image technology, designed to maintain natural colours in complex lighting situations like sunsets or firelight, where other phones tend to go strange.</p>

<p>We compared the phone against the Vivo X300 Ultra, and while it delivers a more elegant and refined experience, it sits a step behind on raw display quality and outright performance. At around $1,199, it&#8217;s the most affordable phone on this list. Imported that is.&nbsp;</p>

<h3><strong>Huawei Pura X Max</strong></h3>

<p><strong>Display</strong> 7.7-inch inner OLED (4:3 ratio) + 5.4-inch outer display, 120Hz <strong>Chip</strong> Kirin 9030 Pro <strong>Cameras</strong> 50MP main with variable aperture + 50MP periscope telephoto +12.5MP ultrawide <strong>Battery</strong> 5300mAh— 66W wired <strong>Build</strong> 5.2mm thin unfolded, 11.2mm folded, 229g <strong>Durability</strong> IP58/IP59</p>

<p>Most foldable phones fold to be taller and narrower, or they flip to be compact. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-pura-x-max/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pura X Max</a> does something different. It folds horizontally to create a screen that&#8217;s wider rather than taller, closer in shape to a compact iPad than a regular phone. It is the industry&#8217;s first horizontally wide foldable with a 7.7-inch inner display and a near 4:3 aspect ratio.&nbsp;</p>

<p><em>Spoiler: </em>the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/22/iphone-fold-launch-delay-december-2026-tim-long/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">iPhone Fold</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/05/19/galaxy-z-fold-8-z-fold-8-wide-specs-leak-suggests-samsung-is-finally-listening-to-fans/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide</a> might share a similar footprint.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="655" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1024x655.png?x44794" alt="Huawei-Pura-X-Max" class="wp-image-735525" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1024x655.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-300x192.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-768x492.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-696x446.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1068x684.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-656x420.png 656w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max.png 1242w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Such a design has a real upside. Watching video, reading, multitasking, editing photos, or anything you&#8217;d normally do on a small tablet is much more comfortable on a display shaped like this. The 5.4-inch outer screen is wide enough to handle messages and calls without unfolding. And despite the large displays, Huawei kept the weight to a reasonable 229 grams and the unfolded thickness to just 5.2mm.</p>

<p>The same Google services caveats that apply to the Pura 90 Pro Max apply here, too. And the water resistance rating of IP58/IP59 is a step below what Honor manages on the Magic V6. But as a piece of hardware, thinking differently about the foldable form factor, there&#8217;s nothing quite like it.&nbsp;</p>

<h3><strong>Honor Magic V6</strong></h3>

<p><strong>Display</strong> 7.95-inch inner LTPO 2.0 AMOLED, 2172×2352, 120Hz + 6.52-inch outer AMOLED <strong>Chip</strong> Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 <strong>Cameras</strong> 50MP main + 64MP periscope telephoto + 50MP ultrawide <strong>Battery</strong> 6,660mAh (global) or 7,150mAh (China) — 80W wired, 66W wireless <strong>Durability</strong> IP68/IP69 — first foldable to achieve both ratings</p>

<p>Folding phones have always come with compromises you had to accept in exchange for the novelty. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/honor-magic-v6/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Magic V6</a>, which<a href="http://gizmochina.com/2026/03/01/honor-magic-v6-launched/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> debuted at MWC 2026</a>, is the clearest sign yet that Honor has figured out how to close that gap.</p>

<p>Our <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/13/honor-magic-v6-experience-the-new-king-of-foldables/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">impression</a> of the foldable was that the crease on the inner display is remarkably shallow, even after a week of heavy use. Honor&#8217;s new Super Steel design, rated for 500,000 folds, also feels solid and smooth throughout. It measures 8.75mm folded and just 4mm when open.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/%E9%9D%99%E5%B8%A7-2026-03-02-182839_2.9-2-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="" /></figure></div>

<p>Where Honor brings real improvement is ingress protection. The Magic V6 is the first foldable phone in the world to earn both IP68 and IP69 ratings. Getting caught in the rain with a foldable has always been a mild source of anxiety. Not anymore, at least with this one.</p>

<p>The Magic V6 also offers an exceptional camera experience for a foldable. The main is a 50MP sensor that captures an incredible amount of detail, even after significant cropping during post-processing. The periscope telephoto lens supports 3x and 6x optical zoom, though, at 6x, AI processing is quite prominent.&nbsp;</p>

<h3><strong>What you should know before importing</strong></h3>

<p>Importing any of these phones is possible, but not always simple. You&#8217;ll want to research band compatibility carefully; not all models support the same 5G and LTE frequencies used in the US, which means you might end up with slower data speeds or limited coverage. </p>

<p>The Huawei devices in particular require workarounds for apps that rely on Google services. And warranty support? You&#8217;re largely on your own. But if you&#8217;ve ever looked at what&#8217;s available at your carrier and thought <em>this is it?</em> Now you know there&#8217;s a lot more out there. Just not here.</p>

<p>Alongside the regular <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/03/24/galaxy-z-fold-8-specs-summarized-combination-of-upgrades-and-refinement-fans-would-appreciate/">Galaxy Z Fold 8</a>, a new variant called the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/04/07/galaxy-z-fold-8-wide-leaks-again-this-time-inside-one-ui-9/">Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide</a> is starting to show up in leaks. The idea is to make the Fold feel more like a small tablet when it’s open, instead of sticking to the tall, narrow layout Samsung has used so far. That shift doesn’t come out of nowhere. Huawei already pushed in this direction with its Pura X lineup, and with Apple’s foldable still rumored for later this year, Samsung likely doesn’t want to sit still.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HGqxiF6agAA8Kna1-1024x576.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-736440" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HGqxiF6agAA8Kna1-1024x576.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HGqxiF6agAA8Kna1-300x169.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HGqxiF6agAA8Kna1-768x432.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HGqxiF6agAA8Kna1-1536x864.png 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HGqxiF6agAA8Kna1-696x392.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HGqxiF6agAA8Kna1-1068x601.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HGqxiF6agAA8Kna1-1920x1080.png 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HGqxiF6agAA8Kna1-747x420.png 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HGqxiF6agAA8Kna1.png 1966w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>According to tipster Ice Universe, we now have a clearer look at the dimensions. When unfolded, the Z Fold 8 Wide is said to measure 161.4 x 123.9 x 4.3 mm. Folded, it comes in at 161.4 x 82.2 x 9.8 mm.</p>

<p>Put next to Huawei’s Pura X Max, the differences are interesting. Samsung’s version is slightly narrower (161.4mm as compared to Huawei&#8217;s 166.5mm), but noticeably thinner, especially when open. That 4.3 mm thickness stands out, and even when folded, it’s slimmer than Huawei’s 11.2 mm. So while the phone is going wider in terms of usable screen space, Samsung still seems focused on keeping the overall profile manageable in hand and pocket.</p>

<p>The inner screen is rumored to use a near-square 4:3 aspect ratio, which is much closer to what you’d expect from a tablet. The cover display, meanwhile, is said to sit around 4.7:3.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="683" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HGqxiJjaUAAwPrj-1024x683.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-736438" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HGqxiJjaUAAwPrj-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HGqxiJjaUAAwPrj-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HGqxiJjaUAAwPrj-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HGqxiJjaUAAwPrj-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HGqxiJjaUAAwPrj-1068x712.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HGqxiJjaUAAwPrj-630x420.jpg 630w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HGqxiJjaUAAwPrj.jpg 1536w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The thinner build could help with handling and make it stand out from the competition. However, it’s also worth noting that the black bars at the top and bottom will be slightly wider than on Huawei’s Pura X Max when streaming videos.</p>

<p>The Z Fold 8 Wide is expected to launch alongside the standard Fold 8 and the Z Flip 8, likely at Samsung’s usual summer event.</p>

<p>Foldables are no longer just about bending screens; they’re now a clash of ecosystems, performance philosophies, and real-world usability. The Huawei Pura X Max and Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold represent two very different takes on what a premium foldable should be. One pushes hardware boundaries with bold features and fast charging, while the other leans into AI, software longevity, and a polished everyday experience. This comparison matters for buyers deciding between raw innovation and refined consistency in the ultra-premium segment.</p>

<h2><strong>Design and Display</strong></h2>

<h3><strong>Build and Feel</strong></h3>

<p>Huawei Pura X Max leans into a premium, almost experimental design language with Kunlun Glass 2 and stylus support, adding versatility. It feels engineered for durability while still maintaining a refined foldable aesthetic. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold, on the other hand, prioritizes practicality with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and a more conventional foldable finish. It comes across as more predictable but also more polished for everyday usability. Huawei’s approach feels bold and slightly more futuristic, while Google’s feels safer and more mature.</p>

<h3><strong>Display Quality</strong></h3>

<p>Huawei offers a sharp LTPO2 OLED panel with strong color depth and PWM dimming that may appeal to long usage comfort. The Pixel counters with higher brightness levels, HDR10+, and a larger inner display that feels more immersive for media and multitasking. Google’s display tuning tends to look more natural, while Huawei’s feels more vibrant.</p>

<h3><strong>Verdict</strong></h3>

<p>The Pixel 10 Pro Fold edges ahead for display brightness and overall usability, but the Pura X Max stands out for innovation and visual punch.</p>

<h2><strong>Specifications Including Battery</strong></h2>

<h3><strong>Performance</strong></h3>

<p>Huawei’s Kirin 9030 Pro delivers stable performance for daily tasks and multitasking, but it lacks the cutting-edge efficiency of newer architectures. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold’s Tensor G5, built on a 3nm process, brings stronger AI performance and better long-term optimization. It feels more future-ready, especially with extended Android update support. Huawei remains smooth, but Google’s chip feels more refined under sustained workloads.</p>

<h3><strong>Battery and Charging</strong></h3>

<p>Huawei clearly dominates charging with faster wired and wireless speeds, plus reverse charging flexibility. The larger battery also adds a slight endurance advantage. The Pixel focuses more on efficiency and features like bypass charging, but its slower charging speeds feel conservative in comparison. Huawei’s approach feels more convenient in daily life, especially for quick top-ups.</p>

<h3><strong>Verdict</strong></h3>

<p>The Pixel 10 Pro Fold wins on performance and longevity, while the Pura X Max takes a clear lead in charging and battery convenience.</p>

<h2><strong>Camera</strong></h2>

<h3><strong>Main and Secondary Lenses</strong></h3>

<p>Huawei brings a versatile camera system with a variable aperture main sensor and a strong periscope zoom. It excels in flexibility and creative shooting scenarios. The Pixel, however, focuses on computational photography, delivering consistent results with features like Ultra-HDR and AI enhancements. Google’s images tend to look more balanced and reliable, while Huawei’s can feel more dynamic and experimental.</p>

<h3><strong>Selfie Camera</strong></h3>

<p>The Pixel offers sharper and more capable selfie cameras with autofocus and better video features. Huawei’s selfie setup is decent but feels more basic in comparison. Google’s consistency across both inner and cover cameras gives it an edge for content creators.</p>

<h3><strong>Verdict</strong></h3>

<p>The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is more dependable overall, but the Pura X Max appeals to those who prefer hardware versatility and zoom flexibility.</p>

<h2><strong>Pricing</strong></h2>

<p>The Huawei Pura X Max is priced around $1600 (₹150,000), while the Pixel 10 Pro Fold sits higher at $1800 (₹160,000). The price gap is noticeable but not extreme in the premium foldable segment. Huawei positions itself as the more aggressive value option, offering faster charging, strong cameras, and premium materials at a slightly lower cost.</p>

<p>Google justifies its higher price with longer software support, better AI integration, and a more polished ecosystem. The Pixel feels like a safer long-term investment, especially for users who value updates and consistent performance. Huawei, however, delivers more hardware-focused value, which may feel more immediately rewarding.</p>

<h3><strong>Verdict</strong></h3>

<p>The Pura X Max offers better upfront value, while the Pixel 10 Pro Fold justifies its price through longevity and software advantages.</p>

<p><em>Disclaimer:</em><strong><br></strong><em>Prices are approximate and may vary based on country, region, and applicable taxes.</em><em></em></p>

<h2><strong>Conclusion</strong></h2>

<p>Huawei stands out with stylus support, ultra-fast charging, and a more experimental hardware approach. It feels designed for users who want flexibility and standout features. The Pixel 10 Pro Fold focuses on AI capabilities, clean software, satellite features, and long-term updates, making it more ecosystem-driven. Google’s approach feels more cohesive, while Huawei’s feels more feature-packed.</p>

<h3><strong>Verdict</strong></h3>

<p>The Pixel 10 Pro Fold is the better all-rounder with stronger software, performance, and camera consistency. However, the Huawei Pura X Max is a compelling alternative for those who prioritize charging speed, hardware innovation, and value.</p>

<p><strong>Disclaimer: </strong>This comparison is based on the specifications provided and is intended for general informational purposes. Actual performance, camera results, battery life, and overall experience may vary depending on real-world usage, software updates, and individual preferences.</p>

<p>Foldable phones have become increasingly common, but <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/04/20/huawei-pura-x-max-launches-as-first-wide-book-style-foldable-with-kirin-9030-pro/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei’s Pura X Max</a> introduces a new perspective. The device moves away from the taller, narrower designs of its competitors and embraces a wider, more productivity-focused form factor. It offers a fresh take on how foldable phones can combine functionality and immersive experiences.</p>

<p>Interestingly, Apple is reportedly working on a similar design style for its first foldable phone, which may adopt the same wide foldable form factor and is expected to launch later this year.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="512" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1024x512.webp?x44794" alt="Huawei Pura X Max" class="wp-image-735522" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1024x512.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-300x150.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-768x384.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1536x768.webp 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-2048x1024.webp 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-696x348.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1068x534.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1920x960.webp 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-840x420.webp 840w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<h3><strong>Wider Foldable Design</strong></h3>

<p>The Huawei Pura X Max uses a horizontally wide display design, making it stand out in the foldable phone market. The inner display measures 7.7 inches with a nearly 4:3 aspect ratio (14.1:10), while the 5.4-inch outer screen has a similar wide layout. This aspect ratio gives the device the feel of a compact tablet instead of a tall and narrow smartphone.</p>

<p>Huawei’s choice of a wider screen benefits users by offering more horizontal space. Watching movies feels cinematic with minimal black bars, reading eBooks becomes less cramped, and games offer a better view of the action.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="577" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1-1024x577.webp?x44794" alt="Huawei Pura X Max" class="wp-image-735523" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1-1024x577.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1-300x169.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1-768x433.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1-1536x865.webp 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1-2048x1154.webp 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1-696x392.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1-1068x602.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1-1920x1081.webp 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1-746x420.webp 746w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The design also makes it easier to handle productivity tasks like editing documents and viewing presentations, where extra screen space significantly improves the experience. Unlike other foldables that prioritize narrow portability, Huawei’s approach emphasizes usability and functionality.</p>

<h3><strong>Durability and Aesthetics</strong></h3>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei</a> enhances durability with a newly designed Basalt Waterdrop Hinge. This hinge increases the available screen area by 16% while improving drop resistance by 33%. The inner display is built with three composite layers, including ultra-thin glass, carbon fiber, and a molecular buffer layer.</p>

<p>Huawei claims these materials improve impact resistance by 50% and compression resistance by 20%. The outer screen uses second-generation Kunlun Glass for extra protection. Additionally, the phone is rated IP58/IP59 for dust and water resistance.</p>

<p>The device also focuses on aesthetics. The rear camera area features a ceramic bezel surrounded by luminous textures. The phone comes in five colors, including Midnight Black, Zero White, Olive Gold, Interstellar Blue, and Vibrant Orange.</p>

<p>Despite its large displays, the Pura X Max remains slim. It measures only 5.2mm thick when unfolded and 11.2mm when folded, making it thinner than many of its competitors. The weight of 229 grams feels reasonable for a phone with these capabilities.</p>

<h3><strong>Performance and AI Features</strong></h3>

<p>The Kirin 9030 Pro chipset powers the Pura X Max. Huawei says it delivers 30% more performance than the Kirin 9020 found in the original Pura X. The chipset is designed for seamless multitasking and supports real-time ray tracing for advanced graphics processing.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="577" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-2-1024x577.webp?x44794" alt="Huawei Pura X Max" class="wp-image-735524" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-2-1024x577.webp 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-2-300x169.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-2-768x433.webp 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-2-1536x865.webp 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-2-2048x1154.webp 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-2-696x392.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-2-1068x602.webp 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-2-1920x1081.webp 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-2-746x420.webp 746w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The phone runs HarmonyOS 6.1, which brings integrations like Xiaoyi AI. This AI assistant helps with contextual suggestions, task management, and travel assistance.</p>

<p>The Pura X Max also supports Huawei’s M-Pen 3 Mini stylus. The stylus allows users to take notes, create sketches, or edit images with precision.</p>

<h3><strong>Cameras</strong></h3>

<p>Huawei upgraded the camera system on the Pura X Max to ensure flagship-grade imaging. The rear camera system includes a 50MP RYYB main sensor with a variable aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0. It also features a 50MP periscope lens that supports zoom photography, while a 12.5MP ultra-wide lens enables versatile shots.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="665" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1-1024x665.png?x44794" alt="Huawei Pura X Max" class="wp-image-735526" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1-1024x665.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1-300x195.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1-768x499.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1-696x452.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1-1068x694.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1-646x420.png 646w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-1.png 1228w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The company included its second-generation XMAGE camera software, which optimizes lighting, color accuracy, and composition. Huawei added 8MP selfie cameras to both displays to support quick video calls and casual photography. The outer screen lets users use the main camera for selfies, enabling high-resolution front-facing photos.</p>

<h3><strong>Why the Pura X Max Is a Game-Changer?</strong></h3>

<p>The Huawei Pura X Max shows how foldable phones can rethink design priorities. Its wide form factor brings a tablet-like experience to the foldable market. Instead of limiting itself to narrow portability, it offers optimized features for productivity and content consumption.</p>

<p>The advanced features, including the durable hinge, powerful chipset, and XMAGE cameras, elevate its appeal. The Pura X Max distinguishes itself in the foldable phone market, seamlessly bridging the gap between smartphones and tablets, an accomplishment few devices have achieved.</p>

<p>Apple has long been rumored to launch a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/04/07/apples-first-foldable-could-be-called-iphone-ultra-says-tipster/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">wide foldable iPhone,</a> but <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei </a>just beat it to the punch with the first wide, book-style foldable. As scheduled, the company today announced the Pura X Max alongside the new<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/04/20/huawei-launches-pura-90-pro-series-with-200mp-zoom-and-kirin-9030s/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Pura 90 series</a>.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="325" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Screen.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei Pura X Max Screen" class="wp-image-735398" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Screen.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Screen-300x108.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Screen-768x277.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Screen-696x251.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>The Pura X Max shifts away from the now-familiar tall foldable design and instead focuses on a wider, more paper-like aspect ratio. Both the inner and outer displays follow a √2:1 aspect ratio, which Huawei says is intended to create a more consistent viewing experience across screens.</p>

<p>On the outside, you get a 5.4-inch display that pushes up to 3500 nits of peak brightness and supports a 1–120Hz LTPO adaptive refresh rate. Open it up, and there’s a 7.7-inch inner screen with similar adaptive refresh capabilities, though brightness tops out slightly lower at 3000 nits.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="343" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Camera.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei Pura X Max Camera" class="wp-image-735399" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Camera.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Camera-300x114.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Camera-768x293.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Camera-696x265.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>Design-wise, the phone has what it calls a geometric aesthetic, with a ceramic bezel around the camera module that’s meant to give it a more polished look. It comes in five colors: Midnight Black, Zero White, Interstellar Blue, Olive Gold, and Vibrant Orange.</p>

<h2><strong>AI, imaging, and a lot of Huawei-specific software</strong></h2>

<p>Like most recent launches, AI is a big part of the pitch. The Pura X Max runs HarmonyOS 6.1 and introduces an upgraded Xiaoyi Smart Brain along with what Huawei calls a companion AI system. This system integrates with apps like Amap, Zhihu, Didi, Baidu Maps, and DingTalk, aiming to make the assistant more useful across everyday tasks.</p>

<p>There’s also a long list of AI-driven features, including Xiaoyi Help, Time Machine, AI note-taking, and photo editing tools.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On the hardware side, the Pura X Max includes a 50MP main camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens, a second-generation color sensor, and a 12.5MP ultra-wide camera. Huawei is branding this setup as part of its XMAGE system, with support for portrait enhancements and 3D dynamic photos.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="714" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-desgin-1024x714.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei Pura X Max desgin" class="wp-image-734427" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-desgin-1024x714.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-desgin-300x209.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-desgin-768x535.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-desgin-696x485.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-desgin-1068x744.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-desgin-603x420.jpg 603w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-desgin-100x70.jpg 100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-desgin.jpg 1290w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Huawei Pura X Max desgin</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Under the hood, the device is powered by the Kirin 9030 Pro chip and runs HarmonyOS. Huawei also says the phone supports real-time ray tracing.</p>

<p>The foldable mechanism itself has been updated as well. Huawei is using a new basalt waterdrop hinge that reportedly increases screen space by 16% and improves drop resistance by 33%. The inner display is protected by a multi-layer structure that includes UTG glass and additional support layers.</p>

<p>There are also some accessories and extras. Huawei introduced the M-Pen 3 Mini stylus, which supports air gestures, includes a microphone, and can trigger the Xiaoyi assistant.</p>

<h2><strong>Price and Availability</strong></h2>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="562" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Specs-Launch-Price.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei Pura X Max Specs Launch Price" class="wp-image-735397" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Specs-Launch-Price.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Specs-Launch-Price-300x187.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Specs-Launch-Price-768x480.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Specs-Launch-Price-696x435.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Specs-Launch-Price-673x420.jpg 673w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>The lineup is split into two tiers. The standard edition includes a 12GB + 256GB model at 10,999 yuan and a 12GB + 512GB variant at 11,999 yuan. The collector’s edition pushes things further with 16GB + 512GB at 12,999 yuan and a 16GB + 1TB option at 13,999 yuan.&nbsp;</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei</a> is preparing to launch its next foldable, the Pura X Max and Collector’s Edition, on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/04/13/huawei-pura-x-max-wide-foldable-launch-details/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">April 20</a>. The device sits at the top of the company’s wide-folding lineup, and if a new leak is anything to go by, it may also come with a noticeably higher price tag than its predecessor.</p>

<p>According to a Chinese tipster, the Huawei Pura X Max is expected to start above 10,000 yuan (around $1,465). That would put it well above last year’s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-pura-x/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pura X</a>, which launched at 7,499 yuan (roughly $1,097).</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="392" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Price.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-734590" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Price.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Price-300x131.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Price-768x335.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Price-696x303.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure></div>

<p>Another reliable tipster appears to back that up, hinting at a price in the same 10,000 yuan range.</p>

<h2><strong>Huawei Pura X Max Specifications (Expected)</strong></h2>

<p>For the price, the tipster says the Pura X Max will bring a battery exceeding 6,000mAh. It’s also expected to debut with HarmonyOS 6.1, making it one of the first devices to ship with Huawei’s updated operating system.</p>

<p>As for performance, the standard Huawei Pura X Max will reportedly use the Kirin 9030 chip, while a higher-end Collector’s Edition could feature a Kirin 9030 Pro. Huawei hasn’t confirmed either chipset so far.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="979" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HUawei-Pura-X-Max-orange-1024x979.jpg?x44794" alt="HUawei Pura X Max" class="wp-image-734425" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HUawei-Pura-X-Max-orange-1024x979.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HUawei-Pura-X-Max-orange-300x287.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HUawei-Pura-X-Max-orange-768x734.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HUawei-Pura-X-Max-orange-696x665.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HUawei-Pura-X-Max-orange-1068x1021.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HUawei-Pura-X-Max-orange-439x420.jpg 439w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/HUawei-Pura-X-Max-orange.jpg 1290w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>The hardware changes extend beyond internals. The Pura X Max is also expected to feature a larger 7.6-inch internal display, maintaining the wide-folding format Huawei introduced with the earlier Pura X.</p>

<p>The device may also include a periscope telephoto lens with Huawei’s XMAGE imaging system, along with a newer version of its Maple Leaf primary color technology.</p>

<p>Huawei will offer the Pura X Max in multiple color options, including Midnight Black, Zero White, Interstellar Blue, Olive Gold, and Vibrant Orange.</p>

<p>The company has some momentum going into this release. The earlier Pura X reportedly crossed 1.5 million units in shipments, a solid number for a foldable device.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/huawei">Huawei</a> has officially revealed the Pura X Max ahead of its April 20 launch event. While the announcement keeps things fairly broad, it confirms a new direction for foldable smartphones, hinting at a larger form factor and a different usage approach compared to typical foldables.</p>

<h3><strong>Huawei Pura X Max: First foldable with a horizontally wide foldable design</strong></h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="714" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-desgin-1024x714.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei Pura X Max desgin" class="wp-image-734427" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-desgin-1024x714.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-desgin-300x209.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-desgin-768x535.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-desgin-696x485.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-desgin-1068x744.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-desgin-603x420.jpg 603w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-desgin-100x70.jpg 100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-desgin.jpg 1290w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Huawei Pura X Max desgin</figcaption></figure>

<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-pura-x-max">Huawei Pura X Max</a> is being positioned as the industry’s first horizontally wide foldable, focusing on a broader internal display rather than a tall, narrow layout. When unfolded, the device is expected to feature a screen of around 7.6 to 7.69 inches with a 16:10 aspect ratio, offering a tablet-like experience. This makes it closer in usability to compact tablets such as the iPad mini, especially for multitasking, media consumption, and productivity.</p>

<p>The outer screen is said to measure around 5.5 inches, allowing users to handle everyday tasks like messaging and calls without unfolding the device. The design includes a relatively flat frame, a centred punch-hole camera on the cover display, and a slightly offset punch-hole on the internal screen. At the back, Huawei appears to be using a horizontally aligned camera module with multiple sensors.</p>

<p>Under the hood, the Pura X Max is rumoured to be powered by Huawei’s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/kirin-0030">Kirin 9030</a> chipset, which is also expected to feature in the Pura 90 series.  </p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Huawei</a> has a launch event scheduled for April 20, where it is set to refresh its Pura lineup. The update includes the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/04/10/huawei-pura-90-pro-pro-max-launch-date-design-specs/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pura 90 series</a>, which Huawei has already <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/04/10/huawei-pura-90-pro-pro-max-launch-date-design-specs/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">started teasing</a>, and a foldable in the Pura X lineup. Now, according to tipster <em>Digital Chat Station</em>, this new model is called the Pura X Max.</p>

<p>The Pura foldable line from Huawei is known for wide-folding devices, and no surprises, the Pura X Max follows the same route.&nbsp;</p>

<h2><strong>Huawei Pura X Max Specs (Expected) </strong></h2>

<p>However, unlike the original <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-pura-x/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pura X</a>, the X Max is said to be a horizontally folding device. The design is the same as what’s expected for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/04/07/apples-first-foldable-could-be-called-iphone-ultra-says-tipster/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Apple iPhone Fold (or Ultra, as rumors say)</a>, but Huawei will be the first to launch such a device. It will feature a 7.69-inch WQHD+ inner display and a 5.5-inch outer screen.</p>

<p>The inner display will offer more usable space, while the outer screen is designed for quick, everyday tasks. Huawei is reportedly sticking with a 16:10 aspect ratio, similar to its earlier model. </p>

<p>Lucky for us, another tipster, <em>Fixed Focus Digital</em>, has shared the foldable&#8217;s front and back design on Weibo. </p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="900" height="600" data-id="734217" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Design-1.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-734217" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Design-1.jpg 900w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Design-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Design-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Design-1-696x464.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Huawei-Pura-X-Max-Design-1-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px" /></figure>
</figure>

<p>There are also expected upgrades under the hood. The Pura X Max is rumored to use Huawei’s Kirin 9030 chip, which is also said to power the Pura 90 series. The chip reportedly uses a new 9-core architecture, with improvements in overall performance.</p>

<p>Moreover, the device is expected to include Huawei’s Red Maple Quad Camera system, with a particular focus on improving the telephoto lens.</p>

<p>As we mentioned earlier, this type of foldable design will not remain exclusive to Huawei for long. Apple is working on a foldable iPhone with a similar tablet-like aspect ratio, possibly arriving in September. Meanwhile, Samsung is also working on a wide-foldable called the<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2026/04/07/galaxy-z-fold-8-wide-leaks-again-this-time-inside-one-ui-9/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide</a>.</p>
