Motorola partners with Microsoft to bring Windows 365 and Teams features to ThinkPhone

Lenovo ThinkPhone by Motorola, a phone designed for business users, is getting two new features thanks to a partnership with Microsoft. The two companies have teamed up to bring ThinkPhone users Windows 365 and Teams Walkie Talkie functionality.

Windows 365 is a cloud-based version of Windows that allows users to access their work files and applications from anywhere. That means, with Windows 365 now available on ThinkPhone, users access a full-fledged Windows Cloud PC directly on their phone.

You can also stream the Cloud PC experience to a larger display, keyboard, and mouse using Moto Connect. This integration will help IT administrators reduce costs by provisioning only ThinkPhone devices and displays to employees, along with a Windows 365 license. In the upcoming weeks, Motorola says that the Lenovo ThinkPhone by Motorola will be able to access Windows 365 support via Moto Connect.

Moreover, Motorola has expanded the functionality of the ThinkPhone’s Red Key button to include integration with the Walkie Talkie app in Microsoft Teams. Now, pressing the Red Key will enable the phone’s push-to-talk (PTT) capabilities, so users can quickly start a conversation with just one click. This new feature will also be available in the coming weeks.

ThinkPhone’s two new features will be a boon for business customers. However, it’s important to note that both features require users to have specific accounts or subscriptions. Windows 365 support requires a Windows 365 cloud subscription, while Teams Walkie Talkie only requires a free Microsoft Teams account.

Lenovo bought Motorola nine years ago and today we finally get the first co-branded smartphone. The Thinkphone by Motorola, as the name suggests, is a phone that looks more like a ThinkPad laptop. It even features the brand’s signature red button. The device has a focus on security and features ThinkPad integrations, like a shared clipboard and automatic connection over Wi-Fi. Let’s have a closer look at the details.

The ThinkPhone by Motorola comes with a rugged design. Its back panel is designed with a lightweight aramid fiber, which is claimed to be stronger than steel. The device’s frame is aircraft-grade aluminum. On the front, there’s Gorilla Glass Victus.

Lenovo is getting serious about smartphones and considering expanding its ThinkPad branding to smartphones with the introduction of the Lenovo ThinkPhone. According to leaked information from Evan Blass, the ThinkPhone is rumored to contain high-end hardware and may be the sibling of a Motorola Edge 40 series model.

The ThinkPhone has been revealed in a pre-release marketing render, which shows a smartphone with three rear-facing cameras set within a curved back panel. The device also has a flat display with a centered punch-hole front-facing camera and an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Lenovo ThinkPhone Gets 3C Certified With 68W Fast Charging

Lenovo is a big name when it comes to laptops, but the brand is not exactly known for its smartphones. The company does manufacture gaming phones under its Legion PC brand, but they are limited to China. However, it seems the Chinese OEM is getting serious about smartphones and is planning to launch a new ThinkPhone handset. The Lenovo smartphone might launch very soon, as it has bagged China’s 3C certification.

Lenovo’s ThinkPhone recently appeared on China’s compulsory 3C certification site with model number XT2309-1. The listing revealed the handset will arrive with a 68W charger. Interestingly, the 3C listing shows that the device will be manufactured by Motorola. For those who don’t know, Motorola is owned by Lenovo.

Model number XT2309-1 is also said to be associated with a Motorola smartphone codenamed “Bronco.” It will likely debut as part of the next Edge series. This suggests the phone may launch in two versions, one sold as a Motorola device and the other as a Lenovo phone.

A recent report shared a design render of the Lenovo ThinkPhone. The image shows the device has “ThinkPhone” branding on the bottom right corner of the rear panel. The handset features a rectangular camera module, which houses three cameras and an LED flash. This is likely an early render of Lenovo’s ThinkPhone, so the design may change in the future.

Previously, it was revealed that Motorola Bronco could arrive with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, an FHD+ resolution with a 165Hz refresh rate, and up to 12GB of RAM.
