It later received an update to Android Nougat as promised. The phone is now receiving its Android 8.1 Oreo update more than a year after Oreo was announced.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-120730" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Moto-G4-Plus.jpg?x44794" alt="Moto G4 Plus" width="800" height="600" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Moto-G4-Plus.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Moto-G4-Plus-300x225.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Moto-G4-Plus-768x576.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/Moto-G4-Plus-160x120.jpg 160w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></p>
<p>Why is the update coming so late? It is actually <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/motorola">Motorola</a>&#8216;s fault, to be honest. When the phone was announced, Motorola promised an update to Android N and Android O as Nougat and Oreo were known as back then. However, when the list of Moto devices getting Android Oreo was released in 2017, the Moto G4 Plus and the Moto G4 were missing.</p>
<p>This caused a lot of backlash and they eventually agreed to uphold their promise to update it, though on the condition that it would take time since it was “unplanned for”. Really, Motorola/Lenovo?</p>
<p>Now the update which will definitely be its last is finally rolling out to devices in the US. The changelog says the update brings all the features of Android 8.1 Oreo and also comes with December 2018&#8217; security patch.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-195041" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Moto-Z3-Play-featured-2-e1528297140130.jpg?x44794" alt="Moto Z3 Play" width="668" height="426" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Moto-Z3-Play-featured-2-e1528297140130.jpg 668w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Moto-Z3-Play-featured-2-e1528297140130-300x191.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 668px) 100vw, 668px" /></p>

<p>Motorola is also rolling out Android Pie to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-moto-z3-play/">Moto Z3 Play</a>. The update is already arriving on the 2018 phone in the US. It brings all the goodness of Pie which includes a redesigned navigation system, a redesigned recent apps menu, a new volume control, a virtual screenshot key, new emoji, adaptive battery, and adaptive brightness etc. The update should arrive in other regions in the coming weeks.</p>

Today, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Motorola">Motorola</a> released a list of its phones that will get the update.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-206330" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Motorola-Android-Pie.jpg?x44794" alt="Motorola Android Pie" width="1711" height="1080" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Motorola-Android-Pie.jpg 1711w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Motorola-Android-Pie-300x189.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Motorola-Android-Pie-768x485.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Motorola-Android-Pie-1024x646.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1711px) 100vw, 1711px" /></p>
<p>Motorola says the update will begin rolling out this fall but don&#8217;t be surprised if some phones don&#8217;t get it until next year. The eligible devices are listed below:</p>
<ol>
<li><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-moto-z3/">Moto Z3</a></li>
<li><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-moto-z3-play/">Moto Z3 Play</a></li>
<li><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-moto-z2-force/">Moto Z2 Force</a></li>
<li><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-moto-z2-play/">Moto Z2 Play</a></li>
<li><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/moto-x4/">Moto X4</a></li>
<li><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-moto-g6-plus-2/">Moto G6 Plus</a></li>
<li><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-moto-g6/">Moto G6</a></li>
<li><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-moto-g6-play/">Moto G6 Play</a></li>
</ol>
<p>Apart from the Moto Z2 Force, Moto Z2, and Moto X4, no other Motorola phone released in 2017 will get updated to Android 9.0 Pie which is sad. However, we are not surprised.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #ff0000;">READ MORE:</span> <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/08/15/motorola-p30-launched-in-china-with-notched-display-and-snapdragon-636/">Motorola P30 launched in China with notched display and Snapdragon 636</a><span id="more-206326"></span></p>
<p>Motorola has a bad track record when it comes to software support. The V was only updated to Android 8.1 Oreo back in June and the Android 8.1 Oreo soak test for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-moto-g5-plus/">Moto G5 Plu</a>s began at the end of July. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/?post_type=aps-products&amp;s=Moto+E5">Moto E5 series</a> isn&#8217;t getting the update too. We are also not surprised as we already knew this right from when they were announced.</p>
<p>Android 9.0 Pie brings a new navigation system, adaptive brightness, adaptive battery and a number of UI changes.</p>

The <a href="https://gizmochina.com/tag/lenovo">Lenovo</a>-owned company has recently launched the Moto <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/08/03/motorola-launches-the-moto-z3-packing-a-side-mounted-fingerprint-scanner-5g-moto-mod-and-more/">Z3</a> smartphone in the U.S. It is speculated that the very same smartphone may get introduced in China through the upcoming launch event. In the recent past, the TENAA telecom regulatory agency in China has approved devices likes Motorola One, One Power, Moto Z3 Play and Moto E5 Plus. Hence, it is likely that the Aug. 15 launch event could be used to announce multiple smartphones.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/08/06/motorola-confirms-august-15-launch-event-in-china/motorola-august-15-china-launch-event/" rel="attachment wp-att-204607"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-204607" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Motorola-August-15-China-Launch-Event.jpg?x44794" alt="Motorola August 15 China Launch Event" width="450" height="900" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Motorola-August-15-China-Launch-Event.jpg 450w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Motorola-August-15-China-Launch-Event-150x300.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Motorola-August-15-China-Launch-Event-512x1024.jpg 512w" sizes="(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px" /></a></p>
<p>Shown above is the official poster of the Aug. 15 event by Motorola. Apart from confirming on the launch date, the poster does not reveal any information on the device(s) that will be announced on Aug. 15. Through another <a href="https://www.weibo.com/1645915085/GthdouIb6?from=page_1006061645915085_profile&amp;wvr=6&amp;mod=weibotime">Weibo post</a>, the company has hinted that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-moto-z3">Moto Z3</a> that was recently launched in the U.S. may debut in China. Hence, the Moto Z3 is most likely to get unveiled in the coming week. The big number 5 in the above poster could be hinting the 5G Moto Mod that may go official with the Moto Z3.</p>
<p>The Moto Z3 features a 6-inch Super AMOLED display that supports 18:9 aspect ratio. The Snapdragon 835 SoC, 4 GB of RAM and 3,000mAh battery are the driving force of the smartphone. It has an internal storage of 64 GB. The other features of the Moto Z3 include microSD card slot, Android 8.1 Oreo, dual 12-megapixel rear camera, 8-megapixel front camera, side-mounted fingerprint and Moto Mods accessories support.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-moto-z3/motorola-moto-z3-6/" rel="attachment wp-att-204524"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-204524" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Motorola-Moto-Z3-6.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="446" height="440" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Motorola-Moto-Z3-6.jpg 446w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Motorola-Moto-Z3-6-300x296.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 446px) 100vw, 446px" /></a></p>
<p>The TENAA certification has revealed that the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-moto-z3-play">Moto Z3 Play</a> is equipped with Snapdragon 636, 4 GB / 6 GB RAM, 64 GB / 128 GB storage, 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera setup, 8-megapixel front camera and 3,300mAh battery. Like Z3, the Z3 Play is also equipped with Android 8.1 Oreo, 6-inch S-AMOLED display and side-mounted fingerprint reader. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-moto-e5-plus">Moto E5 Plus</a> for China may sport better specs than its international model. Its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/07/26/moto-z3-play-and-moto-e5-plus-with-beefed-specs-appear-on-tenaa/">TENAA listing</a> has revealed improved specs like larger 5,000mAh battery and a higher variant with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.</p>

The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/lenovo">Lenovo</a>-owned firm did not unveil the Moto Z3 flagship phone when it had launched the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-moto-z3-play">Moto Z3 Play</a> phone in the previous month. Hence, the rumor mill has been speculating that the company may announce Moto Z3 flagship phone at its forthcoming event that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/29/motorola-has-an-event-on-august-2-may-launch-the-moto-z3-or-moto-one-power/">will be held on Aug. 2</a>. Fresh information on the Moto Z3 smartphone have surfaced today.</p>
<p>It is now speculated that the upcoming Motorola flagship phone will be ditching the Force Edition branding and it won’t be featuring a shatterproof display. Last year, Motorola had sold the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-moto-z2-force/">Moto Z2 Force Edition</a> in the U.S. through all the major operators. However, the forthcoming Motorola flagship phone will be called Moto Z3. Since the company is said to have entered a fresh agreement with Verizon, the Moto Z3 will be exclusively available through the carrier in the U.S.</p>
<p>With Motorola Moto Z3 smartphone, the company is also expected to officially announce its 5G Moto Mod. Verizon is planning to start its 5G network later this year, it is only then the 5G Moto Mod can become useful. This means that Moto Z3 will become one of the first phones to support 5G network.</p>

<p>Along with Moto Z3 flagship smartphone, Motorola is also expected to introduce Moto C2 and Moto C2 Plus Android Go phones. Moreover, the Motorola One and One Power Android One phones may also get official on Aug. 2. As far as Moto Z3, it is rumored to be available for buying by late summer. Both the smartphones are yet to debut in China. The regional variants of these phones for China have respectively surfaced as XT1929-15 and XT1924-9 which indicates that these phones may debut soon in China. The Moto Z3 Play is fueled by Snapdragon 636, but its TENAA listing suggests that it may feature a more powerful SoC. On the other side, the Moto E5 Plus for China seems to be packed with beefed up specs compared to its international variant.</p>
<h3></h3>
<h3>Moto Z3 Play</h3>
<p>The Motorola XT1929-15 handset measures 156.42 x 76.46 x 6.75 and weighs 156 grams. It will be coming to China in colors like black, gold and silver. It features a 6.01-inch AMOLED display that supports 18:9 aspect ratio and FHD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. The smartphone is packed with a 3,300mAh battery.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/07/26/moto-z3-play-and-moto-e5-plus-with-beefed-specs-appear-on-tenaa/moto-z3-play-1929-15-tenaa/" rel="attachment wp-att-203210"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-203210" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Moto-Z3-Play-1929-15-TENAA.jpg?x44794" alt="Moto Z3 Play 1929-15 TENAA" width="960" height="640" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Moto-Z3-Play-1929-15-TENAA.jpg 960w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Moto-Z3-Play-1929-15-TENAA-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Moto-Z3-Play-1929-15-TENAA-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></a></p>
<p>The RAM variants of the XT1929-15 are 4 GB and 6 GB and they are likely to respectively feature 64 GB and 128 GB of internal storages. It features a microSD slot for additional storage. The handset is preinstalled with Android 8.1 Oreo.</p>
<p>It features 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera like its international model. It has a front-facing camera of 8-megapixel. The rear side of the XT9192-15 has 16-pin pogo connector attaching Moto Mods accessories. Like the international edition of the Z3 Play, its Chinese version also features side-mounted fingerprint scanner which can be confirmed through its TENAA images.</p>
<p>The Snapdragon 636 SoC that powers the international <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-moto-z3-play" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Moto Z3 Play</a> comprises of 1.8 GHz octa-core processor. However, the XT1929-15 Z3 Play is fueled by an octa-core processor that has a CPU frequency range of 1.9 GHz – 2.7 GHz which indicates it could be featuring a more powerful SoC. The CPU clocking speed suggests that the Z3 Play for China may arrive with Snapdragon 660 SoC.</p>
<h3>Moto E5 Plus</h3>
<p>The dimensions of the XT1924-9 Motorola are 158.5 x 75.2 x 9.2mm and it weighs 196 grams. It will be coming to China in color variants like gold, silver and gray. The handset is packed with a 4,850mAh battery. Since the international version of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-moto-e5-plus" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Moto E5 Plus</a> is packed with a bigger 5000mAh battery, it is slightly thicker (9.4mm).</p>
<p>The XT1924-9 houses a 5,99-inch display that supports HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. There is a 1.4 GHz octa-core processor under its hood which suggests it could be powered by Snapdragon 435. The TENAA listing of the smartphone suggests that it could be arriving in China in three models such as 32 GB storage + 3 GB RAM, 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM and 128 GB storage + 6 GB RAM.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/07/26/moto-z3-play-and-moto-e5-plus-with-beefed-specs-appear-on-tenaa/moto-z3-play-1924-9-tenaa/" rel="attachment wp-att-203209"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-203209" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Moto-Z3-Play-1924-9-TENAA.jpg?x44794" alt="Moto Z3 Play 1924-9 TENAA" width="960" height="640" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Moto-Z3-Play-1924-9-TENAA.jpg 960w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Moto-Z3-Play-1924-9-TENAA-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Moto-Z3-Play-1924-9-TENAA-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px" /></a></p>
<p>The handset is preloaded with Android 8.0 Oreo. It has a rear-mounted camera of 12-megapixel and a front-facing camera of 5-megapixel.</p>

It is a higher-end version which will be sold at a higher price and will provide better performance. The new variant differentiates from the ones already in the market by having 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. It joins the other two more affordable variants sporting 3 or 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-197626" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/e1.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="768" height="768" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/e1.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/e1-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/e1-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/e1-270x270.jpg 270w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></p>
<p>The new variant also comes in a new color variant: Onyx, that is a dark hue. In Brazil, the new version of the Motorola Moto Z3 Play carries a price tag of BRL 2,699 which roughly translates into $716. Just to remind you, the previous version has a listing price of BRL 2,299, roughly $610. The rest of the specs sheet remains the same, as well as the support to MotoMods.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-197627" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/e2.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="768" height="768" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/e2.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/e2-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/e2-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/e2-270x270.jpg 270w" sizes="(max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px" /></p>
<p>Motorola Moto Z3 Play features a 6.01-inch display with a Full HD+ resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The high memory is supported by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset running at a max frequency of 1.8 GHz. As the main camera, the handset has a dual setup with 12 + 5 MP resolutions. The front camera is an 8 MP snapper, while the battery has an average 3000 mAh capacity.</p>

As expected, the Z3 Play comes with support for the existing Moto Mods. Motorola promised the Moto Mods will be supported by three generation of Z series models. The Z3 Play is the third-gen model and maybe the last that will support the existing Moto Mods. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/moto-z3-play-9-2.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-195183" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/moto-z3-play-9-2-1024x684.jpg?x44794" alt="Motorola Moto Z3 Play" width="640" height="428" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/moto-z3-play-9-2.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/moto-z3-play-9-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/moto-z3-play-9-2-768x513.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p>The Moto Z3 Play comes with a flagship design, wearing a glass body wrapped around the aircraft-grade aluminium fuselage. The glass is the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 both at the front and rear and the device comes as a lightweight phone. This will ensure the Moto mods don&#8217;t end up making it too bulky. The device sports a 6-inch Super AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080p and the 18:9 aspect ratio. This gives the display up to 13% more screen area and more pixels than its predecessors. The trimmed bezels mean the fingerprint sensor has to find a new home and Motorola moved it to the right side, just beneath the volume rocker since it can&#8217;t be moved to the back because of the Moto Mods. The design looks quite ergonomic and is easy to access. Motorola also left the One Nav solution as a simple gesture-based bar at the bottom of the screen.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/moto-z3-play-6-2.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-195180" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/moto-z3-play-6-2-1024x684.jpg?x44794" alt="Moto Z3 Play" width="640" height="428" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/moto-z3-play-6-2.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/moto-z3-play-6-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/moto-z3-play-6-2-768x513.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p>The Z3 Play also comes with a new dual camera setup which is a 12MP + 5M combo with the secondary sensor being a depth of field sensor. The camera comes with Google Lens support built in and fun Cinemagraphs. Up at the front, the device packs an 8MP sensor which has a dedicated Portrait mode.</p>

<p>The Motorola Moto Z3 Play gets its firepower from a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor which is an upgrade from the SD 626 found on the Z2 Play. The processor ensures the new model is 30% faster than its predecessor. The phone also comes with Cat12 LTE support at 700mbps. The processor is paired with 4GB of RAM and there is a 32GB and 64GB internal storage which is expandable. Keeping the lights on is a 3000mAh battery. Motorola also threw in some new moto mods including an Alexa smart speaker and the Print Polaroid mod, which lets you print photos straight from your phone on the go. These new mods can be picked up separately but the device comes with a 2000mAh-capacity battery mod bundled with each purchase. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/moto-z3-play-7-1.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-195181" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/moto-z3-play-7-1-1024x684.jpg?x44794" alt="moto z3 play pictures" width="640" height="428" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/moto-z3-play-7-1.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/moto-z3-play-7-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/moto-z3-play-7-1-768x513.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>

<p>The device comes with a retail price of $499 which is quite pricey for an SD 636 phone but that could be as a result of the battery mod. Even if you are striking this out of your list because of the pricing, you may want to take a closer look at the device before doing that. The Moto Z3 Play brings a bigger display, a new design, and some cool new features.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-195041" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Moto-Z3-Play-featured-2.jpg?x44794" alt="Moto Z3 Play" width="691" height="468" /></p>
<h4><strong>Moto Z3 Play Design</strong></h4>
<p>Because Motorola has to keep compatibility with existing Moto Mods, the Z3 Play isn&#8217;t very different when it comes to dimensions. The phone is still pretty thin at 6.75mm but it does look very different from the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-moto-z2-play/">Z2 Play</a>.</p>
<p>The larger 18:9 display means the bezels have to be trimmed and Motorola has done just that. However, the fingerprint scanner had to find a new home. Since it can&#8217;t be moved to the back of the phone, the scanner now resides on the right side, just below the volume buttons.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-195032" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Moto-Z3-Play-official-fingerprint-scanner.jpg?x44794" alt="Moto Z3 Play official fingerprint scanner" width="767" height="432" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Moto-Z3-Play-official-fingerprint-scanner.jpg 767w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Moto-Z3-Play-official-fingerprint-scanner-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 767px) 100vw, 767px" /></p>
<p>There is 2.5D glass on both sides and the device has Motorola&#8217;s signature water-repellant coating which protects it from splashes and spills.</p>

<h4><strong>Moto Z3 Play Specs</strong></h4>
<p>The Moto Z3 Play has a 6-inch 18:9 display that Motorola has termed Max Vision. It is still AMOLED like its predecessors and the resolution is Full HD+.</p>
<p>The Snapdragon 626 from the Moto Z2 Play has now been replaced with the Snapdragon 636 mobile platform. There is 4GB of RAM and you can choose between 32GB or 64GB of internal storage.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-195031" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Motorola-Z3-Play-Camera.gif?x44794" alt="Motorola Z3 Play Camera" width="480" height="240" /></p>
<p>Last year&#8217;s model skipped the dual camera train but the Z3 Play comes with two cameras on the rear. The primary camera is a 12MP f/1.7 sensor and it has been paired with a 5MP secondary sensor. There is an 8MP sensor for selfies.</p>
<p>The camera software is packed with tons of features. Apart from the usual portrait mode, beautification mode, and face filters, there are some new features too. Some are listed below:</p>
<ul>
<li>Cinemagraphs for making custom gifs from videos;</li>
<li>Selective Black and White &#8211; which turns off color for all except the subject;</li>
<li>Cutout mode &#8211; for changing the background of your photos;</li>
<li>Spot color &#8211; which lets you select just a color from your photo while the rest turns black and white.</li>
</ul>
<figure id="attachment_195039" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-195039" style="width: 767px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-195039" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Moto-Z3-Play-Color-Pop.jpg?x44794" alt="Moto Z3 Play Color Pop" width="767" height="432" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Moto-Z3-Play-Color-Pop.jpg 767w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Moto-Z3-Play-Color-Pop-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 767px) 100vw, 767px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-195039" class="wp-caption-text">Moto Z3 Play Spot Color Mode</figcaption></figure>
<p>The Moto Z3 Play also comes with smart camera features such as landmark and object recognition, real-time text translation, and optical character recognition thanks to Google Lens.</p>
<p>The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo with Motorola&#8217;s own additional features like Moto Actions and Moto Voice. There is a 3000mAh battery with support for Moto&#8217;s TurboPower fast charging technology. Motorola claims the device has a 40-hour battery life when you snap on the 2,000mAh Moto Power Pack battery mod.</p>

<h4><strong>Moto Z3 Play Price</strong></h4>
<p>The Moto Z3 Play will sell for $499 when it goes on sale this summer. It will come bundled with a free 2000mAh battery mod.</p>

This set of renders comes just days after we <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/05/27/new-leaked-photo-shows-the-moto-z3-play-a-5g-moto-mod/">first spotted the Z3 Play&#8217;s renders online</a> but in this case, the pictures are more detailed in that they capture the device from all angles.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/moto-z3-play-5.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-194354" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/moto-z3-play-5-1024x683.jpg?x44794" alt="MotoZ3 Play" width="640" height="427" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/moto-z3-play-5.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/moto-z3-play-5-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/moto-z3-play-5-768x512.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p>The fresh leaked renders confirm the presence of the Motorola branding on the lower chin and also that the Z3 Play will have support for Moto Mods. The leaked renders also showcases the glass back design, the dual camera setup and an unknown button positioned on the left side of the device. The right side houses the power button that doubles as a fingerprint sensor with the volume rocker right above it.</p>
<p>The images also include those of two of the Z3 Play&#8217;s Moto Mods &#8211; one loudspeaker for better multimedia experience and the other one being a projector with a kickstand. One of the promotional images also shows a microSD card meaning  the phone will have a microSD slot.</p>

<p>As a reminder, the Moto Z3 Play will be announced on June 6 in Brazil and has a specs lineup that places it in the midrange category. The Z3 Play will have a 6-inch FHD+ display, a Snapdragon 636 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB or 64GB of storage. It will also have dual rear cameras and pack a 3000mAh battery while keeping the thickness to a minimum. The flagship Moto Z3 from the lineup will likely come in the following months as nothing has been heard about it as at this moment.</p>

It is highly speculated that Lenovo-owned company would be announcing the Moto Z3 Play smartphone at the upcoming launch event in the coming month. In the previous week, XDA Developers had shared <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/05/22/moto-z3-play-specs-features-moto-mods-bundles-leaked-through-internal-documentthe-moto-z3-play-smartphone-is-speculated-to-debut-in-the-next-month-as-the-z2-play-was-made-official-in-june-2017-the/">leaked information</a> on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/moto-z3-play/">Moto Z3 Play</a> phone through an internal <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/lenovo">Lenovo</a> document. It had revealed that the Moto Z3 Play would be arriving with Snapdragon 636. Even the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/04/04/moto-z3-play-to-come-with-snapdragon-636-4gb-ram/">FCC listing of the phone</a> has revealed the presence of the same SoC. A Geekbench listing of the Moto Z3 Play which shows that instead of the SD636 chipset, it features Snapdragon 660.</p>
<p>As it can be seen below, the Moto Z3 Play’s Geekbench listing reveals the presence of Snapdragon 660 SoC. Its clocking speed is mentioned as 1.6 GHz.</p>
<p>The Geekbench listing further reveals that the SD660 chipset is coupled with 4 GB of RAM and the handset is running on Android 8.1 Oreo. In the single-core and multi-core tests, the Moto Z3 Play has respectively scored 1299 and 4851 points.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-193493" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Motorola-Moto-Z3-Play-Geekbench.png?x44794" alt="" width="678" height="535" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Motorola-Moto-Z3-Play-Geekbench.png 678w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Motorola-Moto-Z3-Play-Geekbench-300x237.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 678px) 100vw, 678px" /></p>
<p>These scores are on lower side compared to other phones that have surfaced with the same chipset on Geekbench. Also, the processing speed of the SD660 that is mentioned as 1.6 GHz is lower than its usual clocking speed of 2.2 GHz. Multiple evidences like Lenovo’s internal document, FCC listing and leaked information shared by reliable industry insider Roland Quandt have all revealed stated that the SD636 is present under the hood of the Moto Z3 Play.</p>
<p>So, there is a possibility that there could be a Snapdragon 660 variant for specific region or there is a possibility that the Geekbench listing could be incorrectly showing the Snapdragon 636 as Snapdragon 660.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-190215" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Motorola-Moto-Z3-Play-Deep-Indigo.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="1200" height="1178" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Motorola-Moto-Z3-Play-Deep-Indigo.jpg 1200w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Motorola-Moto-Z3-Play-Deep-Indigo-300x295.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Motorola-Moto-Z3-Play-Deep-Indigo-768x754.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Motorola-Moto-Z3-Play-Deep-Indigo-1024x1005.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px" /></p>

<p>Previous leaks have revealed that the Moto Z3 Play will be available in 32 GB or 64 GB storage models in different regions. It is likely to feature 6-inch MaxVision AMOLED screen and is expected to house a 3,000mAh battery. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/05/03/moto-z3-play-live-shots-leaked-to-reveal-189-display-dual-rear-cameras/">dual camera setup of the Z3 Play</a> may feature a pair of 12-megpixel cameras and a front-facing camera of 8-megapixel. The leaked renders of the phone have revealed that it will be featuring a side-mounted <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/04/01/moto-z3-play-3d-renders-gives-us-a-look-at-its-side-mounted-fingerprint-scanner/">fingerprint scanner</a>. Like the predecessor model, it will be come equipped 16-pin connector on its rear for connecting Moto Mods accessories. A recent leak has suggested that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/05/27/new-leaked-photo-shows-the-moto-z3-play-a-5g-moto-mod/">there will be a 5G Moto Mod for the smartphone</a>.</p>

There are reports the third generation Z series will be the last in the modular series. Nevertheless, that shouldn&#8217;t dampen the excitement for the upcoming device(s).</p>
<p>New images have surfaced thanks to <em>XDA-Developers</em> and they show the Moto Z3 Play along with a 5G Moto Mod. Some of the specs have also been confirmed.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-193230" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Moto-Z3-Play-with-5G-Moto-Mod.jpg?x44794" alt="Moto Z3 Play with 5G Moto Mod" width="1024" height="496" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Moto-Z3-Play-with-5G-Moto-Mod.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Moto-Z3-Play-with-5G-Moto-Mod-300x145.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Moto-Z3-Play-with-5G-Moto-Mod-768x372.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>In the first image above, the Moto Z3 Play and the Moto Mod are shown side by side. The bezels have been significantly reduced to make way for the new MaxVision display. There is no fingerprint scanner in front and we know it can&#8217;t be on the rear with the way the Moto Mod is designed. That means it is on the side.</p>
<p>The Moto Z3 Play is running a near stock version of Android. Don&#8217;t let the pill navigation bar fool you, it is actually running Android 8.1 Oreo.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-193229" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Moto-Z3-Play-with-5G-Moto-Mod-b.jpg?x44794" alt="Moto Z3 Play with 5G Moto Mod" width="1001" height="580" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Moto-Z3-Play-with-5G-Moto-Mod-b.jpg 1001w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Moto-Z3-Play-with-5G-Moto-Mod-b-300x174.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Moto-Z3-Play-with-5G-Moto-Mod-b-768x445.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1001px) 100vw, 1001px" /></p>
<p>The 5G Moto Mod doesn&#8217;t give up much in terms of details but we can tell it adds a significant amount of thickness when attached to the device. The Mod was first mentioned in 2016 and what it does is bring 5G support to the Z series.</p>

<p>The Moto Z3 Play will have a 6-inch FHD+ display, a Snapdragon 636 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB or 64GB of storage. It will also have dual rear cameras and pack a 3000mAh battery while keeping the thickness to a minimum.</p>

Although the invite doesn&#8217;t explicitly say it is the Moto Z3 Play launching but since the first of the Moto Z2 series to launch last year was the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-moto-z2-play/">Moto Z2 Play</a>, it won&#8217;t be a surprise the Z3 Play is arriving first this year.</p>
<p>The poster shows the front of the device but does well to hide any key details. The event will likely begin at 9:30 AM Brazillian time judging from the time on the phone.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-192859" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Moto-Z3-Play-launch-poster.jpg?x44794" alt="Moto Z3 Play launch poster" width="660" height="482" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Moto-Z3-Play-launch-poster.jpg 660w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Moto-Z3-Play-launch-poster-300x219.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 660px) 100vw, 660px" /></p>
<p>Leaked reports say the Moto Z3 Play will have a 6.01-inch AMOLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Motorola has termed the new display style MaxVision. The phone will also get a more powerful chipset &#8211; the Snapdragon 636, so we expect a significant improvement in performance.</p>
<p>RAM is reported to be 4GB with 32GB and 64GB storage variants. Storage will be expandable thanks to a MicroSD card slot. Also, the Moto Z3 Play will retain its 3000mAh battery.</p>
<p>Another big upgrade is in the camera department. The Z3 Play gets an extra sensor on the back making it two 12MP sensors. The front camera is also reported to have been bumped up to 8MP. The fingerprint scanner is no longer in front and will now be on the right side of the phone.</p>

<p>One thing that has not changed is support for Moto Mods and this year, Motorola may sell the phone along with a Moto Mod. So if extra battery life is what you want, there is a power bundle, same for gamers (moto mod gamepad), and probably audiophiles too (Moto Speaker Mod).</p>

Since its predecessor was made official in June 2017, it is speculated that the Z3 Play will debut in the coming month. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/05/03/moto-z3-play-live-shots-leaked-to-reveal-189-display-dual-rear-cameras/">Leaked photos of the real handset</a> have appeared earlier in this month to reveal its appearance. Its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/04/26/moto-z3-play-leaked-render-reveals-glass-chassis-189-display-dual-rear-cameras/">press render</a> had also appeared in the previous month. Today, popular tipster Evan Blass has shared a new press render of the Deep Indigo color edition of the Moto Z3 Play to reveal its design from all angles.</p>
<p>As it can be seen in the below image, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/moto-z3-play/">Moto Z3 Play</a> features a display that is surrounded by reduced bezels. Previous reports have claimed that it features a 6-inch screen that produces FHD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9.</p>
<p>The top bezel has a selfie camera, but it does not seem to feature an LED flash for it that was seen in the predecessor model. Like the Z2 Play, its successor is also speculated to feature a 5-megapixel selfie camera.</p>
<p>The earpiece is also present on the top bezel. The chin of the device lacks the oblong fingerprint reader that was found on the Z2 Play. Instead, the bottom bezel features the “motorola” branding.</p>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true">
<p lang="en" dir="ltr">Moto Z3 Play in Deep Indigo <a href="https://t.co/868WiA3CG6">pic.twitter.com/868WiA3CG6</a></p>

<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>The Z3 Play seems to be fitted with a metallic frame and a glass rear. The left edge of the phone features a power key whereas the right edge has power up and down buttons followed by <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/04/19/moto-z3-play-case-images-reveal-side-mounted-fingerprint-reader/">a depression for the side-mounted fingerprint scanner</a>. The top edge of the phone a SIM /microSD slot tray and the USB-C port is available on the bottom side. The handset lacks a 3.5mm headphone jack.</p>
<p>The round-shaped camera module seated on the backside of the phone features a horizontal dual camera setup with a dual-LED flash placed below it. The dual camera system may include a primary sensor of 12-megapixel and a secondary sensor of 8-megapixel.</p>
<p>The company’s batwing logo is also present slightly above the center of the rear panel. The presence of 16-pin connector at the lower portion of the back panel suggests that it will carry support for new Moto Mods accessories as well as those ones that were designed for the Z2 Play.</p>

<p>Since the Motorola Moto Z3 Play has received approval from <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/03/31/motorola-moto-z3-play-moniker-dimensions-confirmed-by-fcc/">Federal Communications Commission (FCC)</a> in the U.S., it seems that its arrival is close at hand. This suggests that the upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/motorola">Motorola</a> phones such as Moto Z3 Force, Moto Z3 Play and Moto X5 will all sport 18:9 display. A fresh render of the Moto Z3 Play smartphone has surfaced to reveal the front and rear design.</p>
<p>As it can be seen in the image below, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/moto-z3-play/">Moto Z3 Play</a> features an elongated body. Hence, it appears that the Z3 Play will be arriving with an 18:9 aspect ratio screen. It is speculated to feature a 6-inch screen that supports Full HD+ resolution.</p>
<p>The top bezel house an earpiece, front-facing camera along with its LED flash. The most obvious change that can be seen at the frontside of the phone is the removal of the home button from the china which now features the logo of the company. The handset seems to feature a metallic frame and a glass rear. The right edge of the phone has volume up and down buttons followed by what appears to be <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/04/19/moto-z3-play-case-images-reveal-side-mounted-fingerprint-reader/">a side-mounted fingerprint scanner</a>. The power key is repositioned to the other side of the phone.</p>
<p>The Moto Z2 Play features only a single rear camera, but its successor will be arriving with dual rear cameras housed inside a round-shaped camera module. Previous reports have claimed that the handset will be equipped with 12-mgapixel + 8-megapixel dual camera setup.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-187587" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Moto-Z3-Play-Exc-Render-AH-01.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="1280" height="862" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Moto-Z3-Play-Exc-Render-AH-01.jpg 1280w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Moto-Z3-Play-Exc-Render-AH-01-300x202.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Moto-Z3-Play-Exc-Render-AH-01-768x517.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Moto-Z3-Play-Exc-Render-AH-01-1024x690.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px" /></p>

<p>The Moto Z2 Play has the 3.5mm audio jack placed besides the USB-C port at the bottom edge of the phone. However, the bottom side of the Moto Z3 Play only features a USB-C port. Since the 3.5mm audio jack cannot be seen anywhere on the above image, it appears that the company has axed it.</p>
<p>Lastly, the bottom portion of the back panel has 16-pin connector for attaching Moto Mods accessories. Since the connector appears similar to the predecessor model, it is likely that Moto Mods made for Z2 Play will be also supported by Z3 Play.</p>
<p>The Moto Z3 Play has recently received <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/04/04/moto-z3-play-to-come-with-snapdragon-636-4gb-ram/">certification from Federal Communications Commission (FCC)</a> in the U.S. It has confirmed that it features Snapdragon 636, 4 GB of RAM and an internal storage of 64 GB. Some regions are expected to receive its 32 GB variant. The device will carry support for additional storage through microSD card. It is speculated to feature a front-facing camera of 5-megapixel and it may receive power from 3,000mAh capacity battery.</p>
<p>There is no confirmation on the launch date of the Moto Z3 series. However, it appears that the company may unveil it within the second quarter of 2018.</p>

The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/lenovo">Lenovo</a>-owned company is expected to debut <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/04/15/fresh-moto-g6-g6-plus-and-g6-play-renders-reveal-several-color-variants/">Moto G6 series</a> phones such as Moto G6, Moto G6 Plus and Moto G6 Play. Some sources have claimed that it will be also launching <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/03/02/moto-e5-e5-play-e5-plus-key-specifications-emerge-everything-know-far/">Moto E5 series</a> which includes Moto E5, Moto E5 Plus and Moto E5 Play. Apart from these phones, the company is also pegged to launch Moto Z3 series and Moto X5 in this year. Since the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-moto-z2-play/">Moto Z2 Play</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-moto-z2-force/">Z2 Force</a> were launched in June last year, their successor models are expected to break cover by June this year. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/04/01/moto-z3-play-3d-renders-gives-us-a-look-at-its-side-mounted-fingerprint-scanner/">CAD renders of Z3 Play</a> that were released at the beginning of this month had revealed the presence of a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Poetic Cases have already listed some renders of Z3 Play wearing its Karbon Shield case.</p>
<p>The below image shows that the Z3 Play will be featuring an 18:9 aspect ratio screen, but the exact size is not known. The reduced top bezel has an earpiece, a selfie camera and other sensors. The bottom bezel only houses a microphone and the company’s name.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-186377" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Moto-Z3-Play-Case-1.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="750" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Moto-Z3-Play-Case-1.jpg 750w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Moto-Z3-Play-Case-1-281x300.jpg 281w" sizes="(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></p>
<p>The rear side of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-moto-z3-play">Moto Z3 Play</a> seems to be made out of glass. Hence, there is a possibility that it may include support for wireless charging. The round-shaped camera housing at the top features horizontally arranged dual cameras along with dual-tone LED flash. There is no cutout for the fingerprint scanner on the backside of the device. Also, the frontside of the phone does not feature a fingerprint sensor enabled home button. The below image shows the presence a large cutout for a side-mounted fingerprint scanner below the volume rocker on the right edge of the phone.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-186376" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Moto-Z3-Play-Case-3.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="800" height="880" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Moto-Z3-Play-Case-3.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Moto-Z3-Play-Case-3-273x300.jpg 273w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Moto-Z3-Play-Case-3-768x845.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></p>
<p>The power key is located on the left side of the Z3 Play. The bottom side has a USB-C port and the 3.5mm audio jack could not on the phone.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-186378" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Moto-Z3-Play-Case-2.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="800" height="898" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Moto-Z3-Play-Case-2.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Moto-Z3-Play-Case-2-267x300.jpg 267w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Moto-Z3-Play-Case-2-768x862.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></p>

<p>Previous leaks have revealed that depending on the market, the Moto Z3 Play will be available in single-SIM and dual-SIM editions. While we wait, OnLeaks has posted a video and photos of 3D renders of the Moto Z3 Play.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-182611" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Moto-Z3-Play-featured.jpg?x44794" alt="Moto Z3 Play" width="1024" height="576" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Moto-Z3-Play-featured.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Moto-Z3-Play-featured-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Moto-Z3-Play-featured-768x432.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></p>
<p>For the renders of the Moto Z3 Play, OnLeaks has partnered with KillerFeatures and not TigerMobiles.</p>
<p>While the Moto Z3 doesn&#8217;t seem to be sporting a serious redesign, there are actually some key changes. The bezels are now smaller to fit a 6-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Shaving off the chin means the fingerprint scanner finds a new home. And rather than move to the back, it is on the right side. The rest of the chin is now home to Motorola&#8217;s branding.</p>
<p>The back has also gotten a slight redesign. Actually, it is just the connectors for the Mods. Rather than circular contact pins like the Moto Z2 series, they are now rectangles but still the same number which means the old mods will work fine.</p>

<p>There is a Motorola batwing logo on the back and above it is the same camera house design from last year. Though it now holds two sensors and the LED flash is smaller.</p>
<p>The fingerprint scanner&#8217;s new home has pushed the power button to the left side. The SIM tray still sits at the top. There is a USB-C port at the bottom but no 3.5mm audio jack.</p>

<p>The Moto Z3 Play is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 636 processor, 4GB/6GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of storage. The cameras are said to be a 12MP + 8MP combo on the rear and a 5MP front camera. Battery capacity is put at 3,000mAh and dimensions at 156.4 x 76.47 x (6.65) 8.92 mm.</p>

<p>The Moto Z3 Play has now been spotted on the website of the US FCC and in the process, the moniker, as well as its dimension, have now been confirmed. Since this is the first official data we are seeing which features the Moto Z3 Play name, we can now confirm that a smartphone that goes by that name is indeed in existence. The device comes with a dimension of 156.23 x 76.7 mm. The FCC schematics also shows the device will have NFC. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/moto-z3-play-fcc-2.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-182509" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/moto-z3-play-fcc-2.png?x44794" alt="Moto Z3 Play" width="859" height="788" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/moto-z3-play-fcc-2.png 859w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/moto-z3-play-fcc-2-300x275.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/moto-z3-play-fcc-2-768x705.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 859px) 100vw, 859px" /></a></p>

<p>Earlier, the company&#8217;s lineup of upcoming smartphones got leaked, which included Moto Z3 series, Moto E5 lineup and the Moto G6 series. Now, from the Moto Z3 lineup, the Moto Z3 Play&#8217;s case renders have leaked online, showing us the phone&#8217;s design. Motorola has decided to retain the modular design.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-182243 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/moto-z3-play-case-1.jpg?x44794" alt="Moto Z3 Play Case Render" width="750" height="750" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/moto-z3-play-case-1.jpg 750w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/moto-z3-play-case-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/moto-z3-play-case-1-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/moto-z3-play-case-1-270x270.jpg 270w" sizes="(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></p>
<p>The form factor of the smartphone is similar to its predecessor but the mod connectors seem to have been expanded. However, we expect that the phone will work with older mods, as well as the new ones that the company launches.</p>
<p>One of the major change in terms of design is the location of the fingerprint sensor. The company has moved the fingerprint sensor from the front to the side of the phone. This could be because of the full-screen display with 18:9 aspect ratio, which covers the major portion of the front panel.</p>
<p>The phone will come with a dual camera setup at the back, along with an LED flash. The camera module is placed in the company&#8217;s unique ring-type design. On the bottom side, there&#8217;s a USB Type-C port but <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/motorola/">Motorola</a> has decided to ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-182244 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/moto-z3-play-case-2.jpg?x44794" alt="Moto Z3 Play Case Render" width="750" height="750" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/moto-z3-play-case-2.jpg 750w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/moto-z3-play-case-2-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/moto-z3-play-case-2-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/moto-z3-play-case-2-270x270.jpg 270w" sizes="(max-width: 750px) 100vw, 750px" /></p>
<p>According to the rumors, the smartphone could be launched towards the beginning of summer. Earlier, it was reported that apart from Moto Z3 and Z3 Play, there will be a third model in the lineup that will have the most advanced specs compared to the other models. All devices will be running <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android-oreo/">Android Oreo</a> out-of-the-box.</p>
<p>Previous <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/17/motorola-moto-z3-moto-z3-play-renders-leaked-reveal-design-key-details/">reports have indicated</a> that the Moto Z3 Play could feature a 6-inch Full HD+ display with screen resolution of 2220 x 1080 pixels. The phone was spotted at FCC with model number XT-1929, which revealed that it is powered by <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm/">Qualcomm</a>&#8216;s Snapdragon 636 processor, along with 4GB RAM.</p>

The Moto G6 lineup includes Moto G6, G6 Plus, and G6 Play while the Moto E5 series includes Moto E5, E5 Plus, and E5 Pro. A well-known leakster has claimed that Motorola will be releasing only these phones in this year. This suggests that the company may not launch successor versions of Moto C and C Plus this year.</p>
<p>According to the tipster, the Moto E series phones that will probably include <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/02/12/moto-e5-real-machine-leaks-feature-rear-fingerprint-sensor-embedded-logo/">Moto E5, Moto E5 Plus and Moto E5 Play</a> will include basic specs and large battery.  He has also claimed that the Moto E5 Play would be replacing the Moto C series. The Moto G6 series may come with two-year old flagship specs. The Moto X5 may be branded as high-end phone.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-172971" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/moto-e5.jpg?x44794" alt="moto e5" width="600" height="400" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/moto-e5.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/moto-e5-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /><br />
The Moto Z series phones such as Moto Z3 Play and Moto Z3 Force may come with futuristic tech which could probably mean that these handsets will carry support MotoMods accessories along with flagship specs.</p>
<p>Leaked information has revealed that the Moto E5 will coming with 5-inch display and large-sized battery. The Moto G6 and G6 Plus may feature 5.93-inch FHD+ resolution supporting display whereas the Moto G6 Play may feature a regular 5.7-inch HD display. The G6 and G6 Plus may respectively feature Snapdragon 630 and 450 chipsets whereas the low-budget G6 Play may come with Snapdragon 430. The G6, G6 Plus and G6 Play are rumored to respectively cost around ~$265, ~$235 and ~187.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-173554 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Moto-G6-Press-Render.jpg?x44794" alt="Moto G6 Press Render" width="1067" height="1200" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Moto-G6-Press-Render.jpg 1067w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Moto-G6-Press-Render-267x300.jpg 267w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Moto-G6-Press-Render-768x864.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Moto-G6-Press-Render-911x1024.jpg 911w" sizes="(max-width: 1067px) 100vw, 1067px" /></p>

<p>The Moto X5 is expected to sport a notch-enabled full screen design like iPhone X flanked with quad cameras. The Moto Z3 and Z3 Play are expected to arrive with 6-inch screen with support 18:9 aspect ratio. It is speculated that there will be a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/17/motorola-moto-z3-moto-z3-play-renders-leaked-reveal-design-key-details/">third Moto Z3 model</a> that may feature advanced specs like Snapdragon 845 and higher resolution display. It is quite obvious that all the Z3 models will include support for MotoMods accessories. The leakster has added that Motorola will not be using MediaTek chipset on its phones this year.</p>

The publication has also revealed the renders and some features of the upcoming <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/motorola/">Motorola</a> Moto Z3 and Moto Z3 Play smartphones.</p>
<p>Last year, Motorola had released two Moto Z series smartphones namely, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/moto-z2-force/">Moto Z2 Force</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/motorola-moto-z2-play/">Moto Z2 Play</a>. These phones are expected to be replaced by Moto Z3 and Z3 Play, respectively, this year. As it can be seen in the below renders, both the Z3 smartphones feature super-slim bezels. The renders also indicate that these phones will becoming with some changes in their design.</p>
<p>The publication has claimed that a 6-inch display capable of delivering a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2220 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9 will be available on the Moto Z3 as well as Moto Z3 Play. The display of the Z3 appears to be slightly curved towards the edges.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-167669" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/moto-z3-play-dl-980x537.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="980" height="537" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/moto-z3-play-dl-980x537.jpg 980w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/moto-z3-play-dl-980x537-300x164.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/moto-z3-play-dl-980x537-768x421.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 980px) 100vw, 980px" /></p>
<p>The publication has not revealed too many details on the specs of these phones. It claims that apart from Moto Z3 and Z3 Play, there will be a third Moto Z3 smartphone that will be arriving with the most advanced specs compared to the other models. It is likely to feature the Snapdragon 845 chipset and a higher resolution display.</p>
<p>The fingerprint scanner is not visible on the images of the Moto Z3 and Z3 Play. There is a possibility that the company may replace it with facial recognition or it could be embedded under the screen of these phones. Like the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/16/motorola-moto-e5-image-leaked-reveals-front-rear-design/">rumored Moto E5</a>, the company may embed the fingerprint scanner under the Moto logo on the rear panel of these phones.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-167668" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/moto-z3-dl-767x980.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="767" height="980" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/moto-z3-dl-767x980.jpg 767w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/moto-z3-dl-767x980-235x300.jpg 235w" sizes="(max-width: 767px) 100vw, 767px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: center"><strong><span style="color: #ff0000">Read More: </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/11/29/moto-x5-coming-next-year/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Motorola To Launch Moto X4 Successor Named Moto X5 Next Year</a></strong></p>
<p>The Moto Z3 phones are also going to feature support for Moto Mods accessories like the predecessor phones. The handset shown in the second which could be the Moto Z3 or Z3 Play can be seen sporting a Motorola 5G Moto Mod that will bring 5G capabilities to the phone. It also seems to feature dual front-facing cameras. The publication has also predicted that the 2019 Motorola smartphone such as Moto G7, Moto E6 and Lenovo K9 are likely to feature an iPhone X-like notch.</p>
<p>Motorola’s Z2 series smartphones were unveiled to the world in summer of 2017. Hence, it is likely that the company may announce the three Moto Z3 phones in summer this year.</p>
