<p>Nubia has announced a new internal testing initiative called the “Nubia Shrimp Farmer Program,” aimed at recruiting beta testers for OpenClaw AI integration on the Nubia Z80 Ultra. Selected users will be able to test the system before the public rollout, helping Nubia refine the AI experience through real-world usage.</p>

<p>According to the company, the Nubia Z80 Ultra will be the world’s first smartphone to natively integrate OpenClaw. Unlike most smartphones, where AI runs as a separate app or cloud service, Nubia is embedding OpenClaw directly into the phone’s operating system. This allows the AI to interact with apps, settings, and system functions more naturally.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="640" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-56-1024x640.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-730607" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-56-1024x640.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-56-300x187.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-56-768x480.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-56-696x435.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-56-1068x667.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-56-672x420.png 672w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-56.png 1148w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>AI Edited Image</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>Ni Fei, President of the ZTE Terminal Business Unit and President of Nubia Technology, described the device as a “Gateway-type AI phone.” It supports ClawBot scenario-based applications and access to a broader Skills ecosystem, allowing the AI to automate tasks and work across multiple services. This also means AI features can run faster and handle tasks more directly within the operating system.</p>

<p>The Nubia Z80 Ultra, launched on October 22, features the Snapdragon 8 Ultra (5th generation) processor and a 50MP 35mm “Master Eye” main camera with a 1/1.3-inch sensor and DCG dual conversion gain HDR technology. Nubia also offers an optional photography kit for enhanced camera capabilities. The phone starts at 4,999 yuan (around $730).</p>

<h3><strong>Why This Matters for Users</strong></h3>

<p>OpenClaw could make Nubia phones feel more intelligent and proactive. Because the AI is built into the system, it can automate tasks, manage apps, and respond faster than typical AI assistants. For users, this could translate into smoother voice commands, smarter automation, and deeper AI integration across everyday phone activities rather than relying on separate AI apps.</p>

<h3><strong>What is OpenClaw AI?</strong></h3>

<p>OpenClaw is an open-source AI agent designed to do more than just answer questions. It can connect with apps, files, and online services to automate real tasks such as browsing the web, managing messages, scheduling actions, or completing multi-step workflows. In simple terms, it turns AI from a basic chatbot into a task-executing digital assistant that can actively perform actions across different apps and services.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="849" height="549" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-712134" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra.png 849w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-300x194.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-768x497.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-696x450.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-650x420.png 650w" sizes="(max-width: 849px) 100vw, 849px" /></figure>

<p>The rollout follows the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/10/08/red-magic-11-pro-gaming-phone-air-water-cooling/">RedMagic 11 Pro</a>’s global release on November 3, signaling an aggressive international push for ZTE’s sub-brand. General sales are expected to begin December 3, with pre-orders offering perks like a $30/€20/£20 discount, free charger, and protective case. Early sign-ups on Nubia’s site also enter a giveaway for the Z80 Ultra, Retro Kit, or Game Pad 2.</p>

<p>Unlike many Chinese flagships that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/10/14/vivo-x300-pro-european-model-hands-on-reveals-5440mah-battery-instead-of-6510mah/">lose battery capacity overseas</a>, the global Z80 Ultra keeps the same large cell as the Chinese model. It runs on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/10/22/snapdragon-8-elite-gen-5-vs-8-elite-vs-8-gen-3-benchmarks-and-specs/">Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5</a> chipset built on a 3nm process, paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. Its 6.85-inch X10 OLED display supports a 144Hz refresh rate and 2,592Hz PWM dimming, while gaming performance benefits from the RedMagic 11 Pro’s software optimizations. Powering it all is a 7,200mAh silicon-carbon battery with 90W wired and 80W wireless charging.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="720" height="720" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-camera.webp?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-712138" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-camera.webp 720w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-camera-300x300.webp 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-camera-150x150.webp 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-camera-696x696.webp 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-camera-420x420.webp 420w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></figure></div>

<p>For photography, Nubia packs a custom 35mm “Light and Shadow Master 990” 1/1.3-inch main sensor, an 18mm ultrawide, and a 64MP periscope telephoto with 3x optical and 50x hybrid zoom. Check out some <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/10/14/nubia-z80-ultra-camera-samples-from-all-three-lenses-revealed/">camera samples</a> to get a better idea of what to expect.</p>

<p>With its combination of flagship performance, battery life, and camera prowess, the Z80 Ultra could be one of the most balanced yet unique looking flagship of the year.</p>

<p>The Nubia Z80 Ultra has just been unveiled as the brand&#8217;s latest flagship smartphone. This model brings Qualcomm&#8217;s latest and greatest, a massive battery pack, an upgraded main camera, and much more. So here&#8217;s everything you need to know.</p>

<h3>Nubia Z80 Ultra: Design &amp; Display</h3>

<p>Nubia&#8217;s latest premium phone appears quite similar to its predecessor. So you still get a rectangular camera module on the rear with a large cutout for the main sensor. The device has a flat side, front, and rear panel. It measures 8.6mm thick and weighs 227 grams, with an IP68 + IP69 rating for water and dust resistance. Nubia&#8217;s Z80 Ultra arrives in multiple color options, namely Phantom Black, Condensed Light White, and Starry Night Collector’s Edition. There is even a Luo Tianyi Limited Edition variant, which features a bright red design.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="693" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubua-Z80-Ultra-launch-date--1024x693.jpg?x44794" alt="Nubua Z80 Ultra" class="wp-image-710217" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubua-Z80-Ultra-launch-date--1024x693.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubua-Z80-Ultra-launch-date--300x203.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubua-Z80-Ultra-launch-date--768x520.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubua-Z80-Ultra-launch-date--1536x1039.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubua-Z80-Ultra-launch-date--2048x1386.jpg 2048w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubua-Z80-Ultra-launch-date--696x471.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubua-Z80-Ultra-launch-date--1068x723.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubua-Z80-Ultra-launch-date--1920x1299.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubua-Z80-Ultra-launch-date--621x420.jpg 621w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Nubua Z80 Ultra</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>On the front, the device sports a tall 6.85-inch BOX X10 OLED display with a 1.5K resolution, a 144Hz refresh rate, up to 960Hz touch sampling rate, 10 bit color depth, 100 percent DCI P3 color gamut, DC dimming, 2592Hz PWM dimming, and up to 2000 nits of peak brightness. The panel also houses an in-display fingerprint scanner. </p>

<h3>Performance</h3>

<p>The Nubia Z80 Ultra arrives as the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 powered flagship smartphone, which brings upgrades in performance, graphics, and efficiency. This high end chip is paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. It runs on the latest Android 16 OS based Nebula AIOS 2 custom skin out of the box. The limited edition model also offers exclusive HD wallpapers and custom boot animations, fingerprint unlocking, charging, and more.</p>

<p>A massive 7,200mAh battery pack powers this model, which supports 90W wired fast charging, 80W wireless fast charging, and reverse wireless charging. Other notable features include WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, dual speakers, and a USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 1 port. </p>

<h3>Camera</h3>

<p>Nubia is known for offering powerful smartphones with its flagship lineup, but these weren&#8217;t known for their photography prowess. Only certain models got the high end camera systems. However, the company aims to improve the camera experience with the Z80 Ultra. One of the biggest improvements is to the main camera. The older Z70 Ultra packed a 1/1.56-inch main camera, which has been upgraded to a larger 50MP 1/1.3-inch OmniVision LightMaster 990 sensor.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="816" height="619" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-Luo-Tianyi-Limited-Edition.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-711628" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-Luo-Tianyi-Limited-Edition.jpg 816w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-Luo-Tianyi-Limited-Edition-300x228.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-Luo-Tianyi-Limited-Edition-768x583.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-Luo-Tianyi-Limited-Edition-696x528.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-Luo-Tianyi-Limited-Edition-554x420.jpg 554w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-Luo-Tianyi-Limited-Edition-80x60.jpg 80w" sizes="(max-width: 816px) 100vw, 816px" /><figcaption>Nubia Z80 Ultra Luo Tianyi Limited Edition</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>This camera supports OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) with a wide f/1.5 aperture. It is coupled with a 50MP 1/1.55-inch ultra wide angle lens with a 120 degree field of view and an f/1.8 aperture, and a 64MP 1/2-inch periscope telephoto shooter with 15cm telephoto macro support, OIS, and an f/2.4 aperture. While the ultra wide camera is getting an upgrade, the telephoto camera appears to be identical to last year&#8217;s model. </p>

<p>For those looking to take photography more seriously with this device, Nubia has also introduced a new Professional Photography Kit for this model. It features a leather and titanium build with mechanical operation keys that offer the feel of a real camera. There are also various other controls for finer tuning, a T-mount for external lens support, and a filter adapter ring that lets users attach the 67mm camera filter. </p>

<h3>Pricing and Availability</h3>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia_Z80_Ultra_back-1-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-710646" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia_Z80_Ultra_back-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia_Z80_Ultra_back-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia_Z80_Ultra_back-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia_Z80_Ultra_back-1-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia_Z80_Ultra_back-1-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia_Z80_Ultra_back-1-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia_Z80_Ultra_back-1.jpg 1348w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Just days before its debut, Nubia revealed the Z80 Ultra’s key hardware details. The phone is said to feature a custom 35 mm “Light and Shadow Master 990” sensor, engineered to capture finer detail and better dynamic range. It’s paired with an 18 mm ultrawide lens and a 15cm telephoto macro module, forming a flexible triple-camera setup meant to handle just about any shooting scenario.</p>

<p>Nubia is also leaning on AI-driven processing to boost image quality, and for photography enthusiasts, there’ll be an optional camera kit to take things even further. Nubia has already shared a few <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/10/14/nubia-z80-ultra-camera-samples-from-all-three-lenses-revealed/">camera samples</a> — and they look impressive.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="773" height="1024" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-core-specs-detailed_16abf10ec4-773x1024.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-711657" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-core-specs-detailed_16abf10ec4-773x1024.jpg 773w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-core-specs-detailed_16abf10ec4-227x300.jpg 227w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-core-specs-detailed_16abf10ec4-768x1017.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-core-specs-detailed_16abf10ec4-696x922.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-core-specs-detailed_16abf10ec4-317x420.jpg 317w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-core-specs-detailed_16abf10ec4.jpg 906w" sizes="(max-width: 773px) 100vw, 773px" /><figcaption>Nubia Z80 Ultra specs (translated from Chinese)</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The rest of the package is equally ambitious. The Z80 Ultra comes with a 6.85-inch X10 display running at a 144 Hz refresh rate, with 2,592 Hz PWM dimming to reduce flicker and eye strain. Under the hood, it’s powered by the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/09/27/snapdragon-8-elite-gen-5-vs-snapdragon-8-elite-benchmarks-and-specs/">Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5</a> processor, backed by LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage for lightning-fast performance. Nubia has even borrowed the game engine from the RedMagic 11 Pro.</p>

<p>Battery life shouldn’t be an issue either. The phone packs a 7,200 mAh battery with 90 W wired and 80 W wireless fast charging.</p>

<p>While Nubia hasn’t shared pricing or global availability yet, those details are expected shortly after the October 22 launch. With a combination of serious camera hardware, cutting-edge internals, and gamer-friendly features, the Z80 Ultra is shaping up to be one of the most exciting Android flagships of the year.</p>

<p>As the smartphone photography race heats up, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/nubia/">Nubia</a> is bringing something fresh to the table with its upcoming Z80 Ultra, launching on October 22 in China. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/09/27/snapdragon-8-elite-gen-5-vs-snapdragon-8-elite-benchmarks-and-specs/">Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5</a>-powered flagship isn’t just another spec-heavy device — it’s also getting a throwback-inspired accessory that turns it into a retro-style camera. This add-on photography kit includes swappable lenses and a tactile shooting experience, appealing to enthusiasts who crave vintage charm with modern performance.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="690" height="388" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/002lVAIGgy1i6bn4nxgffj62243347wj02-1.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-710771" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/002lVAIGgy1i6bn4nxgffj62243347wj02-1.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/002lVAIGgy1i6bn4nxgffj62243347wj02-1-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></figure></div>

<p>Building on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/zte-nubia-z70s-ultra/">Z70S Ultra</a>’s accessory system, Nubia’s new &#8220;professional photography kit&#8221; keeps a familiar design but adds a few meaningful upgrades. It attaches to the phone using a quick-release grip, instantly transforming the Z80 Ultra into a compact camera. There’s a dedicated shutter button on the top plate with a satisfying mechanical click, along with extra dials and buttons that give users a hands-on shooting feel — something longtime photographers will appreciate.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="690" height="690" data-id="710774" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/002lVAIGgy1i6bmo1iuxsj61jk1jk7dd02.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-710774" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/002lVAIGgy1i6bmo1iuxsj61jk1jk7dd02.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/002lVAIGgy1i6bmo1iuxsj61jk1jk7dd02-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/002lVAIGgy1i6bmo1iuxsj61jk1jk7dd02-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/002lVAIGgy1i6bmo1iuxsj61jk1jk7dd02-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></figure>

<p>The standout feature, though, is the set of interchangeable lenses and filters that fit over the Z80 Ultra’s primary camera. Nubia includes two lenses in the kit — one for sharper portraits and another that enhances macro or telephoto shots. There’s also an optional lens that mimics an ultrawide perspective. A bundled filter adds creative flexibility, and Nubia has hinted that more filters could arrive later. Together, these accessories are designed to complement the phone’s triple-camera setup (18mm ultra-wide, 35mm main, and 70mm telephoto), which already delivers <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/10/14/nubia-z80-ultra-camera-samples-from-all-three-lenses-revealed/">detailed, high-contrast images</a>.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="690" height="460" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/002lVAIGgy1i6bn2zpfqsj64k331eb2d02.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-710776" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/002lVAIGgy1i6bn2zpfqsj64k331eb2d02.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/002lVAIGgy1i6bn2zpfqsj64k331eb2d02-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/002lVAIGgy1i6bn2zpfqsj64k331eb2d02-630x420.jpg 630w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></figure></div>

<p>The photography kit will debut alongside the Z80 Ultra on October 22, though the pricing hasn’t been disclosed yet. Given that the Z70S Ultra’s kit was reasonably priced, this one could follow a similar path. For anyone who misses the feel of classic cameras but still wants cutting-edge mobile tech, Nubia’s latest experiment might be worth keeping an eye on.</p>

<p>In the increasingly competitive world of smartphone photography, <a href="https://www.gimzochina.com/category/nibia">Nubia</a> is preparing to throw down a wild card. With its launch just around the corner, Nubia’s teasers are promising “natural imaging” and bold hardware upgrades of the Z80 Ultra. But can it truly deliver professional-level results—or will it end up as another flashy experiment?</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia_Z80_Ultra_back-1-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-710646" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia_Z80_Ultra_back-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia_Z80_Ultra_back-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia_Z80_Ultra_back-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia_Z80_Ultra_back-1-696x391.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia_Z80_Ultra_back-1-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia_Z80_Ultra_back-1-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia_Z80_Ultra_back-1.jpg 1348w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure></div>

<p>Nubia has already confirmed the triple-camera setup through its latest teasers. The configuration includes a 35mm main shooter (50MP OV990 sensor, 1/1.3-inch, f/1.7 aperture) paired with a 18mm ultra-wide (1/1.55-inch sensor, f/1.8 aperture), and a 70mm telephoto lens (f/2.4, OIS, up to 50x hybrid zoom via 12x digital crop)</p>

<p>The biggest leap is with the ultra-wide lens, which replaces the Z70S Ultra’s narrower 13mm f/2.0 camera. The larger sensor should capture more light and produce less distortion, aided by an upgraded lens correction algorithm.</p>

<p>The sample images suggest Nubia is prioritizing authenticity over heavy processing. The main 35mm camera shows realistic colors and natural contrast. Some previews, however, appear slightly soft in detail—likely due to compression in teaser posts. Nubia&#8217;s sub-brand Red Magic recently released camera samples of its upcoming 11 Pro+, which also tells a similar story.</p>

<p>The 18mm ultra-wide produces balanced tones and reliable white balance in daylight, though its perspective leans more “wide” than “ultra.” Samples from the telephoto camera show strong contrast and clean subject separation with minimal noise.</p>

<p>Set to debut <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/10/11/nubia-z80-ultra-launch-date-color-options/">on October 22 in China</a>, the Z80 Ultra builds on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/zte-nubia-z70s-ultra/">Z70S Ultra</a>’s design language, retaining its sleek, curved edges and dedicated shutter button that evoke a retro camera feel. Design tweaks are subtle, mostly revolving around a reshaped camera module that keeps the look familiar but refined.</p>

<p>Under the hood, the phone runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, backed by a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/10/12/nubua-z80-ultra-battery-size-revealed/">rumored 7,200mAh battery</a>, which could give it an edge in endurance over rival flagships.</p>

<p>For creators who value an immersive display and camera realism over algorithmic gloss, the Z80 Ultra might just be the sleeper hit to watch this season.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gimzochina.com/category/nibia">Nubia</a> is among the brands preparing to launch new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-powered smartphones. These include the Red Magic 11 Pro series and the Nubia Z80 Ultra. One of the main highlights of Nubia’s flagship lineup is its notch-less design that delivers a truly full-screen experience, made possible by the inclusion of an under-display camera. In addition to this, both upcoming flagships are expected to feature large batteries.</p>

<h3><strong>Nubia Z80 Ultra’s battery size revealed</strong></h3>

<p>According to recent reports, the Red Magic 11 Pro series will be the only <a href="https://www.gimzochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-elite-gen-5">Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5</a> phone to feature an enormous 8,000mAh battery. Now, a new leak from Weibo has revealed that the Nubia Z80 Ultra will pack a sizeable 7,200mAh battery.</p>

<p>Despite housing such a large battery, the Nubia Z80 Ultra will maintain an impressive design profile, measuring just 7.8mm in thickness and weighing around 225 grams. The phone will support 90W wired fast charging along with wireless charging capabilities.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gimzochina.com/category/nibia">Nubia</a> recently confirmed that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-powered gaming phones, the Red Magic 11 Pro series, will be unveiled on Oct. 17 in China. Now, the brand has also confirmed that its next flagship, the photography-focused Nubia Z80 Ultra, will debut on Oct. 22 in the country. The official teaser not only confirms the launch date but also gives a first look at its sleek design and finish.</p>

<h3><strong>Nubia Z80 Ultra design and color options</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="576" height="1024" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubua-Z80-Ultra-launch-date-576x1024.jpg?x44794" alt="Nubua Z80 Ultra launch date" class="wp-image-710213" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubua-Z80-Ultra-launch-date-576x1024.jpg 576w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubua-Z80-Ultra-launch-date-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubua-Z80-Ultra-launch-date-768x1365.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubua-Z80-Ultra-launch-date-864x1536.jpg 864w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubua-Z80-Ultra-launch-date-1152x2048.jpg 1152w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubua-Z80-Ultra-launch-date-696x1237.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubua-Z80-Ultra-launch-date-1068x1899.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubua-Z80-Ultra-launch-date-1920x3413.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubua-Z80-Ultra-launch-date-236x420.jpg 236w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubua-Z80-Ultra-launch-date-scaled.jpg 1440w" sizes="(max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px" /><figcaption>Nubua Z80 Ultra launch date</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>The Nubia Z80 Ultra continues the brand’s tradition of a true full-screen experience, thanks to its under-display front camera, leaving the display completely notch-free. The front panel maintains a minimalist design with ultra-thin bezels, while the back design refines what was seen on last year’s Z70 Ultra.</p>

<p>The phone will be available in three colour variants: Phantom Black, Glacial White, and Starry Collector’s Edition.</p>

<p>It is speculated that a Nubia device bearing model number NX741J, which was spotted on <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/10/02/nubia-z80-ultra-geekbench-3c/">Geekbench</a> with the <a href="https://www.gimzochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-elite-gen-5">Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5</a>, could be the upcoming Nubia Z80 Ultra. The listing also revealed that the device is equipped with 16GB of RAM and runs Android 16 out of the box.</p>

<p>For imaging, the Nubia Z80 Ultra will feature a triple rear camera system, including a 50-megapixel <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/09/28/nubia-z80-ultra-chipset-major-camera-upgrade-officially-confirmed-camera-sample-revealed/">35mm main lens</a>, a 1/1.55-inch ultra-wide camera, and a periscope telephoto sensor. The ultra-wide sensor offers f/1.8 aperture and 1μm pixels, promising improved edge distortion control.</p>

<p>On the display front, it will support a 144Hz flat AMOLED screen with an under-display camera. Powering the phone is a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/08/05/nubia-z80-ultra-spec-leak-snapdragon-8-elite-2-7100mah-battery-and-improved-udc/">large 7,100mAh battery</a> that supports 90W fast charging, though its 3C certification lists a 94.5W charger in the box.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/nubia/">Nubia</a> will announce multiple flagship phones this month in China. While the Red Magic 11 Pro and 11 Pro+ gaming phones equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 are slated to debut on Oct. 17, it will also announce the Z80 Ultra, a camera-focused flagship, by the end of the month. Ahead of the launch, the Z80 Ultra has appeared in the databases of Geekbench and 3C certification.</p>

<h3><strong>Nubia Z80 Ultra Geekbench, 3C listings</strong></h3>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="539" height="722" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-Geekbench.png?x44794" alt="Nubia Z80 Ultra Geekbench" class="wp-image-709260" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-Geekbench.png 539w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-Geekbench-224x300.png 224w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-Geekbench-314x420.png 314w" sizes="(max-width: 539px) 100vw, 539px" /><figcaption>Nubia Z80 Ultra Geekbench listing</figcaption></figure></div>

<p>As can be seen above, a new Nubia device bearing the model number NX741J has surfaced in the databases of Geekbench and 3C. Reports have revealed that this model number belongs to the upcoming Nubia Z80 Ultra.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="297" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/image-3-1024x297.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-709261" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/image-3-1024x297.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/image-3-300x87.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/image-3-768x223.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/image-3-696x202.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/image-3-1068x310.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/image-3.png 1159w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Nubia z80 Ultra geekbench listing</figcaption></figure>

<p>The benchmark listing confirms that it features the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-elite-gen-5">Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5</a> chipset, 16GB of RAM, and Android 16. It scored 3,669 in the single-core test and 11,309 in the multi-core test. On the other hand, the 3C certification reveals that it may ship with a 94.5W fast charger. However, reports claim that it will support 90W wired charging.</p>

<p>Apart from the Red Magic 11 Pro series, the Z80 Ultra will be the only Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship phone to offer a truly full-screen experience, as it will be equipped with an under-display selfie camera. Its rear camera setup is expected to feature <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/09/28/nubia-z80-ultra-chipset-major-camera-upgrade-officially-confirmed-camera-sample-revealed/">a 50-megapixel main camera with a 35mm lens</a>, a 1/1.55-inch ultra-wide lens, and a periscope telephoto camera.</p>

<p>As per reports, the Z80 Ultra will house a massive 7,100mAh battery. The rest of its specs remain under wraps.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/nubia/">Nubia</a> is preparing the Z80 Ultra, its next camera-focused flagship, and the company has started dropping hints about what to expect. The new device will follow the Z70S Ultra, which launched earlier this year with an under-display selfie camera and a main lens designed to mimic the look of a 35mm camera.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="915" height="604" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-untrawide-shot.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-708568" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-untrawide-shot.png 915w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-untrawide-shot-300x198.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-untrawide-shot-768x507.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-untrawide-shot-696x459.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Nubia-Z80-Ultra-untrawide-shot-636x420.png 636w" sizes="(max-width: 915px) 100vw, 915px" /></figure></div>

<p>According to Nubia manager Zhang Lei, the Z80 Ultra will once again feature a display without a notch or punch-hole, keeping the full-screen experience intact. The front camera will still sit under the panel, but improvements to the technology should deliver clearer selfies and reduce the hazy effect that earlier versions sometimes produced. The display itself is expected to refresh at 144Hz, with touch sampling speeds that can peak as high as 3,000Hz in gaming mode.</p>

<p>As for imaging improvements, the phone features a larger 1/1.55-inch ultrawide sensor, compared to the 1/2.88-inch sensor used in the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nubia-z70-ultra/">Z70 Ultra</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/zte-nubia-z70s-ultra/">Z70S Ultra</a>, and many competing flagships such as the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/09/25/xiaomi-17-pro-snapdragon-8-elite-gen-5-and-rear-magic-back-screen-take-aim-at-iphone-17-pro/">Xiaomi 17 Pro</a> (1/2.76-inch) or the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s25-ultra/">Galaxy S25 Ultra</a> (1/2.5-inch). Nubia is highlighting that the Z80 Ultra doesn’t compromise on its ultrawide camera—an area where many rivals still cut corners—giving its system a clear advantage in certain shooting scenarios.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="576" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Snapdragon-8-Elite-Gen-5-global-announcement-mid-1-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-708554" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Snapdragon-8-Elite-Gen-5-global-announcement-mid-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Snapdragon-8-Elite-Gen-5-global-announcement-mid-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Snapdragon-8-Elite-Gen-5-global-announcement-mid-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Snapdragon-8-Elite-Gen-5-global-announcement-mid-1-1536x864.jpg 1536w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Snapdragon-8-Elite-Gen-5-global-announcement-mid-1-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Snapdragon-8-Elite-Gen-5-global-announcement-mid-1-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Snapdragon-8-Elite-Gen-5-global-announcement-mid-1-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/09/Snapdragon-8-Elite-Gen-5-global-announcement-mid-1.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /></figure>

<p>Company executives also confirmed that the phone will be powered by Qualcomm’s new <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/09/24/snapdragon-8-elite-gen-5-announced-with-20-higher-performance-35-higher-efficiency-and-new-x85-5g-modem/">Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5</a> processor, which delivers gains across CPU, GPU, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/02/13/nubia-z70-ultra-deepseek-ai/">AI performance</a>. Qualcomm says the chip offers around 20% faster CPU speeds, a 23% boost in GPU performance, and a 37% improvement in NPU efficiency.</p>

<p>The battery capacity is rumored to increase to 7,100mAh, up from the 6150 mAh of the Z70 Ultra and 6600 mAh of the Z70S Ultra. The Z80 Ultra is tipped to arrive in November.</p>

<p>According to tipster Smart Pikachu, the upcoming Z80 Ultra will feature a customized upgraded periscope telephoto camera alongside a &#8220;photographer&#8217;s edition&#8221; primary camera. It will be equipped with a new-generation full-screen display, which will probably have an under-display selfie camera like its predecessor.</p>

<p>It is also expected to house a very large battery of around 7,000mAh capacity. While the other specs of the device remain a mystery, it is expected to feature the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-8-elite-gen-5">Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5</a> SoC.</p>

<p>To recall, the Nubia Z70 Ultra was unveiled in November 2024. With CMIIT certification already done, it appears that the Z80 Ultra may launch as early as next month (October) in China.</p>

<p>In related news, the Nubia Red Magic 11 is set for an October launch. It will arrive with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/09/04/red-magic-11-7-improvements/">seven key improvements</a>: first-ever IP68 water resistance, an upgraded active fan cooling system, the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, a larger 8,000mAh battery, a new gaming-focused touch control chip, a true full-screen display with an under-display camera, and a refreshed cyberpunk-inspired design with 3D micro-engraving and RGB lighting.</p>

<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/nubia/">Nubia</a> may be gearing up for the release of its next Ultra phone, the Z80 Ultra. A new leak suggests the device will pack cutting-edge hardware, including a next-generation Qualcomm chip, an improved under-display selfie camera, and a battery that could outlast most flagships on the market. The phone is expected to launch towards the end of this year.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" width="1024" height="640" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Nubia-Z70-Ultra-1-1-1024x640.png?x44794" alt="Nubia Z70 Ultra" class="wp-image-661897" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Nubia-Z70-Ultra-1-1-1024x640.png 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Nubia-Z70-Ultra-1-1-300x188.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Nubia-Z70-Ultra-1-1-768x480.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Nubia-Z70-Ultra-1-1-696x435.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Nubia-Z70-Ultra-1-1-1068x668.png 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Nubia-Z70-Ultra-1-1-672x420.png 672w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/11/Nubia-Z70-Ultra-1-1.png 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px" /><figcaption>Nubia Z70 Ultra</figcaption></figure>

<p>According to reliable tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the Z80 Ultra—expected to succeed last year’s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/nubia-z70-ultra/">Z70 Ultra</a>—will pack an improved under-display front camera. This feature allows for a full-screen experience without punch holes or notches, maintaining a clean 1.5K display.</p>

<p>Under the hood, the Z80 Ultra could be one of the first phones to feature Qualcomm’s upcoming <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/07/30/snapdragon-8-elite-2-specs-benchmarks-and-release-date/">Snapdragon 8 Elite 2</a> processor, which is set to be announced in September 2025. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/06/12/snapdragon-8-elite-2-leaked-benchmark-scores/">Early benchmark leaks </a>suggest a notable jump in performance, with the chip reportedly hitting <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2025/03/29/qualcomms-snapdragon-8-elite-2-core-architecture-and-antutu-score-leaks/">3.8 million points on AnTuTu</a>—over 50% higher than the Z70 Ultra&#8217;s score of around 2.5 million.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="738" height="228" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/nubia-z80-ultra-specs-dcs.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-700127" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/nubia-z80-ultra-specs-dcs.png 738w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/nubia-z80-ultra-specs-dcs-300x93.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/08/nubia-z80-ultra-specs-dcs-696x215.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 738px) 100vw, 738px" /></figure>

<p>The rear camera setup reportedly includes at least two 50MP sensors—a main camera and a periscope telephoto. However, the tipster didn’t share any specifics about the sensors or lenses.</p>

<p>Moving on, the Z80 Ultra is said to pack a significantly larger battery—over 7,100mAh compared to 6,150mAh in its predecessor. It&#8217;s reportedly a single-cell silicon-carbon unit, which, if accurate, could deliver multi-day battery life even with heavy use—an appealing upgrade for gamers and power users alike.</p>

<p>While RAM and storage details haven’t leaked yet, the Z80 Ultra is expected to carry over key design elements from its predecessor, such as an IP68/IP69-rated build and a high-refresh-rate 144Hz AMOLED display.</p>

<p>Nubia hasn&#8217;t officially confirmed any of these details yet, but if the brand follows its usual schedule, the Z80 Ultra could launch in November 2025. With a combination of cutting-edge specs and unique design features like an invisible selfie camera, the Z80 Ultra might be one of the most distinctive flagships to close out the year.</p>
