The Reno 16, on the other hand, focuses more on efficiency and AI-powered features. While the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 handles everyday tasks smoothly, it is not designed to compete with the Dimensity 8450 in sustained workloads.

For users who play demanding games or edit videos on their phones, the Reno 15 Pro Mini is the stronger performer.

Battery life and charging

Battery life is one area where the Reno 16 pulls ahead.

Now, the company is preparing to unveil the standard Oppo K15, which has appeared on the official Oppo Shop with its design and major specifications. The smartphone is scheduled to launch in China on July 24.

Oppo K15 Design and key specifications confirmed

The official listing reveals that the Oppo K15 adopts a design similar to the K15 Pro series. It features a flat frame, a rectangular camera module, and the K15 Pro-series’ signature breathing light integrated into the rear panel.

The listing confirms a 6.59-inch display, although the panel’s resolution and refresh rate remain under wraps. It will feature the Dimensity 7360 Super chipset alongside Oppo’s Tide Engine for enhanced performance.

The device packs an 8,000mAh Glacier battery with support for 80W fast charging and includes a next-generation cooling system with a 4,950mm² VC heat dissipation plate. Oppo also claims the internal cooling fan has been tested for a five-year lifespan.

The Oppo K15 features a 50-megapixel OIS-enabled main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera, and a 50-megapixel front-facing camera. It will run on ColorOS 16-based Android 16.

During a meeting with media (via. GSMArena), Realme India confirmed that its future smartphones will launch with ColorOS 17 instead of Realme UI. The company said the move is intended to simplify software development and make the update process more efficient by sharing resources across the Oppo ecosystem.

Although Realme did not reveal which smartphone will debut with ColorOS 17, the software is expected to appear first on upcoming Oppo devices before making its way to Realme’s next generation of smartphones.

The company also confirmed that eligible existing Realme smartphones will receive the ColorOS 17 update as part of their promised software support. For instance, the Realme GT 8 Pro, which debuted with Realme UI 7 and carries a commitment for four Android OS upgrades, will transition to ColorOS 17 before receiving future software versions.

For most users, the change is unlikely to feel dramatic because Realme UI already shares many design elements, features, and system apps with ColorOS. In fact, Realme originally launched its early smartphones with ColorOS before introducing Realme UI in 2020.

OnePlus is making a similar transition

The announcement follows OnePlus’ recent confirmation that eligible smartphones will also receive an optional upgrade to ColorOS 17 after its official release. Existing OnePlus users will be able to choose whether to switch from OxygenOS to ColorOS, and the company says users who upgrade will have the option to roll back to OxygenOS later.

OnePlus has explained that adopting a shared software platform will help improve update delivery, software quality, and engineering efficiency. The company has also confirmed that existing OnePlus devices will continue receiving scheduled software updates, security patches, warranty coverage, and after-sales support despite ending new product launches in Europe and North America.

On paper, it ticks almost every box. You get four 50-megapixel cameras, IP69-level durability, ColorOS 16 with several new AI features, and long software support. However, there’s one specification that raises eyebrows considering its Rs 61,999 starting price.

After spending some time with the Twilight Violet 8GB+256GB variant, here’s whether the Reno 16 deserves a place on your shortlist.

Designed for One-Handed Comfort

Oppo has always excelled at smartphone design, and the Reno 16 continues that tradition. My review unit in Twilight Violet looks elegant without trying too hard. The subtle finish catches light beautifully, while the matte rear panel does an excellent job of resisting fingerprints. It feels premium the moment you pick it up.

The aerospace-grade aluminum frame adds to the flagship-like in-hand feel, while the compact dimensions make the Reno 16 stand out in a sea of oversized smartphones. At just 182 grams and 8.22mm thick, it’s comfortable to use with one hand, and I never found myself stretching awkwardly to reach different parts of the display.

Despite its slim profile, Oppo hasn’t compromised on durability. The Reno 16 carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings, making it one of the most durable smartphones in this segment. Whether it’s rain, accidental spills, or dusty environments, the phone inspires confidence.

The dedicated AI Snap Key on the left frame is a welcome addition. While it’s designed around Oppo’s AI ecosystem, I found it equally useful as a shortcut for launching the camera or other customizable functions.

The only ergonomic complaint I have is the fingerprint scanner. It’s quick and reliable, but positioned slightly too low on the display, which occasionally required an extra thumb stretch.

Compact Outside, Immersive Inside

The Reno 16 features a 6.32-inch AMOLED panel with a 1.5K resolution, 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and up to 3,600 nits peak brightness.

Simply put, it’s an excellent display.

Colours are vibrant without looking exaggerated, blacks are deep, and text appears razor-sharp thanks to the high pixel density. Whether I was browsing social media, streaming videos, or reading articles, the display remained enjoyable throughout.

The slim and symmetrical bezels further enhance the viewing experience, making the phone feel more premium than many competitors. Even though it’s a compact device, I never felt like I was sacrificing screen real estate.

The stereo speakers complement the display nicely. They deliver good volume with clear vocals and decent stereo separation, making casual gaming and video streaming enjoyable without immediately reaching for earphones.

Smooth Every Day, But Not Built for Speed

Powering the Reno 16 is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset paired with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It also comes in a 12GB+256GB version.

For everyday use, performance is exactly what you’d expect from a polished premium smartphone. Apps launch quickly, multitasking is effortless, animations remain fluid, and I didn’t encounter noticeable slowdowns during regular usage.

Gaming performance is respectable too. BGMI and Call of Duty: Mobile ran smoothly with stable frame rates, while the phone remained reasonably cool thanks to its vapor chamber cooling system.

The issue isn’t that the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 performs poorly. Rather, it’s difficult to ignore that several competitors around this price offer flagship-grade chipsets with noticeably higher performance. If gaming or benchmark numbers are your highest priority, there are stronger alternatives available.

Storage speeds are quick enough for daily use, and the 256GB capacity should comfortably accommodate apps, photos, and videos for most users.

AI That Actually Feels Useful

The Reno 16 ships with Android 16-based ColorOS 16, and it remains one of the cleanest and most refined Android skins available today.

Animations are smooth, customization options are plentiful, and the interface rarely gets in your way. Oppo also promises five Android updates alongside six years of security patches, which is reassuring for anyone planning to keep the phone for several years.

This generation also introduces several AI-powered additions. The new AI Snap Key works alongside AI Mind Space, allowing users to quickly save screenshots, notes, and useful information in a central location. AI Mind Pilot combines multiple AI assistants into a unified interface, while features such as AI Writer, AI Recording, AI Eraser, AI Portrait Glow, and AI Menu Translation add genuine day-to-day convenience.

There are a handful of pre-installed third-party applications out of the box, but thankfully, most of them can be removed within a few minutes.

Here’s how the Reno 16 performed on benchmarking platforms.

Battery Life That Keeps Going

The Reno 16 houses a massive 6,700mAh silicon-carbon battery, and battery life is one of its biggest strengths.

Even with a mix of photography, social media, streaming, navigation, messaging, and occasional gaming, the phone comfortably lasted an entire day with charge to spare. Lighter users could even stretch it into a second day.

Charging is handled by Oppo’s 80W fast charging, which keeps downtime minimal despite the large battery. A quick top-up before heading out is often enough to comfortably last the rest of the day.

Combined with the efficient software optimization, battery anxiety simply wasn’t part of my experience with the Reno 16.

One small omission worth mentioning is NFC support. It won’t affect everyone, but at this price point, it would have been nice to see it included.

The Best Reason to Buy the Reno 16

Photography has always been the Reno series’ strongest selling point, and the Reno 16 continues that tradition.

The phone features a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-600 primary camera with OIS, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera with autofocus, a 50-megapixel 3.5x periscope telephoto camera with OIS, and a 50-megapixel autofocus selfie camera.

It’s one of the most versatile camera systems you’ll find in this segment.

The primary camera consistently captures detailed photos with pleasing colours and excellent dynamic range. Oppo continues to favor natural-looking processing instead of oversaturated colors, and the results are easy to appreciate. Exposure remains reliable even in challenging lighting conditions.

The telephoto camera is arguably my favorite lens on the phone. Portraits look excellent with natural facial proportions, good background separation, and realistic skin tones. It also delivers impressive zoom quality without relying excessively on AI sharpening.

The upgraded ultra-wide camera is another welcome improvement. Color consistency between all three rear cameras is excellent, making lens switching feel seamless. Autofocus also enables close-up photography, although there isn’t a dedicated telemacro mode. Honestly, that’s not something I’d expect on the standard Reno 16 anyway.

Selfies are equally impressive. The autofocus front camera captures plenty of detail while maintaining natural skin tones, making it one of the better selfie cameras in this price range.

Low-light photography is another strength. Images retain good detail without looking artificially bright, and Night mode further improves shadow recovery while preserving the atmosphere of the scene.

Video recording is equally capable, with support for 4K 60fps HDR across all four cameras, ensuring consistent quality regardless of which lens you’re using. My only disappointment is that portrait video remains limited to 1080p.

As for the optional Oppo Bubble accessory, I wasn’t able to test it since it wasn’t included with my review unit.

Verdict

The Oppo Reno 16 is a polished smartphone that focuses on getting the fundamentals right instead of chasing flashy specifications.

Its compact premium design, excellent camera system, vibrant display, long-lasting battery, polished software, and impressive durability make it one of the most enjoyable Android phones to use daily. The cameras, in particular, remain the biggest reason to consider this device.

The biggest hurdle is its pricing. At Rs 61,999, the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 doesn’t quite match what several competitors offer in terms of raw performance. For everyday users, this may not matter much, but gamers and power users are likely to notice the difference.

If your priorities are cameras, battery life, software, and a genuinely compact flagship-like experience, the Reno 16 is easy to recommend. Just be aware that you’re paying a premium for refinement rather than benchmark-leading performance.

How It Stacks Up Against the Competition

If performance is your highest priority, the OnePlus 15R and Vivo X200T offer considerably more powerful chipsets while remaining competitively priced. The Xiaomi 17T is another strong option if you don’t mind a slightly larger phone and want flagship-level performance.

Interestingly, the Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini may end up being the Reno 16’s biggest rival. Starting at Rs 59,999, it offers a faster Dimensity 8450 chipset, triple 200-megapixel cameras, and support for the optional Oppo Bubble accessory. The Reno 16, however, counters with a larger battery, newer AI features, and the dedicated AI Snap Key, making the better choice depend on your priorities.

Oppo is reportedly working on its next foldable phone, the Find N7. Multiple leaks have claimed that it will sport a wide foldable design similar to the forthcoming Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide and Apple’s rumored iPhone Ultra foldable. Reliable tipster Digital Chat Station has been consistently leaking details about the N7, and today, he shared another Weibo post revealing more information, including its battery size.

Oppo Find N7 battery size tipped

The above leak suggests that the Oppo Find N7 is currently being evaluated with a 2nm Snapdragon flagship chipset, which is believed to be the forthcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 (SM8950). It is also said to be testing an on-device AI accelerator.

DCS further claims the Find N7 is currently planned to feature a battery starting with “6,” with the early engineering target set at around 6,500mAh. If accurate, the N7 is expected to offer a larger battery than competing foldable offerings from Samsung and Apple.

In the comments section, DCS added that early prototype designs are testing two different camera module layouts: a classic large circular camera island and an iPhone Air-like horizontal-style camera design, asking followers which design they prefer.

The Find N7 is reportedly scheduled for a Q1 2027 launch window. If true, it is expected to debut as the world’s first foldable phone equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chip.

A previous leak from the same source revealed that the Find N7 will feature a 5.5-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner display. Both Samsung Display (SDC) and BOE are reportedly involved in supplying the panels. Its advanced hinge mechanism is expected to deliver a crease-free experience on the foldable screen.

A new report says OxygenOS and Realme UI are on the verge of discontinuation, and future OnePlus and Realme phones may run ColorOS instead. 

According to a report from Smartprix, which cites an industry source, Oppo is combining OnePlus and Realme more closely into its main brand. As part of this, the three Android skins, ColorOS, OxygenOS, and Realme UI, will be reduced to one: ColorOS.

The report also says OnePlus will now focus mainly on India and China. Realme, on the other hand, is stepping back from the Chinese market to focus on markets outside China. In India, OnePlus has already merged its repair and service network with Oppo’s, so separate OnePlus service centers are becoming less common.

The past

OxygenOS is the software OnePlus has used on its phones since 2014. Realme UI is the software Realme has used since it split off from Oppo as its own brand in 2018. ColorOS is Oppo’s own software, used on Oppo phones worldwide.

If you’ve been keeping up, the change has been in progress for a while. In 2021, OnePlus and Oppo agreed to share the same software codebase, combining OxygenOS with ColorOS. We covered this at the time, when OnePlus confirmed OxygenOS would share a codebase with ColorOS after its full merger with Oppo. Since then, ColorOS has taken on more of the development work, even though OnePlus phones still have OxygenOS branding. 

Now, that could change too — not just for OnePlus but for Realme too.

Realme UI was already close to ColorOS, so Realme users may not notice much difference. OnePlus users, who are used to OxygenOS’s lighter, simpler interface, will likely see more change. 

None of this has been confirmed by OnePlus, Realme, or OPPO yet. It’s also not clear when this change would take effect, or whether it will apply to all markets at once.

The Oppo Find X10 Ultra is still some time away from its expected debut, but leaks surrounding the flagship have already started surfacing. A new tip from a reliable source suggests Oppo is testing one of its most advanced camera systems yet, with a particular focus on long-range photography.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, Oppo is testing a flagship smartphone with a dual periscope telephoto camera setup. While he did not specify the phone’s name, it appears that he could be talking about the Find X10 Ultra.

The prototype is said to feature a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with an approximately 1/1.3-inch sensor, accompanied by a 50-megapixel periscope super telephoto camera with an approximately 1/1.95-inch sensor, which is said to support 10x optical zoom. In the comments section of the post, the tipster added that the final 200-megapixel telephoto sensor has not yet been decided, with another HP-series sensor remaining under consideration.

The tipster also revealed that Oppo had previously evaluated an even larger 1/1.12-inch sensor for the 200-megapixel periscope camera during the early stages of development. However, that configuration is still under evaluation and has not been finalized.

Previous reports claim the Oppo Find X10 Ultra could feature a 6.89-inch 2K LTPO BOE display with ultra-narrow symmetrical bezels and support for the BT.2020 colour gamut. It is also expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s forthcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset, which is likely to be manufactured using TSMC’s 2nm process.  The flagship is tipped to pack a battery exceeding 7,000mAh, with some rumours pointing to a capacity of around 8,500mAh.

Oppo Find series Product Manager Zhou Yibao has already confirmed that the Find X10 Ultra will not launch in 2026. Based on current leaks, the device is expected to debut in the first quarter of 2027, while the standard Find X10, Find X10 Pro, and Find X10 Pro Max are expected to arrive between September and October 2026.

Oppo has officially launched the Enco Air 5 earbuds in the Indian market, following their initial debut in China earlier this May.

There is also a spatial audio function called Alive Audio, though it is limited to users paired with an Oppo smartphone running ColorOS 12.0 or newer.

For noise cancellation, the Enco Air 5 features a 52dB adaptive ANC system. According to Oppo, the earbuds use an algorithm to monitor ambient noise and automatically switch between deep, medium, and light noise cancellation modes depending on the environment.

Coming to the battery life, the earbuds can last up to 13 hours on a single charge with ANC turned off, and up to 54 hours total when factoring in the charging case. If you leave ANC turned on, those numbers drop to 6.5 hours for the earbuds and 27 hours total. The case charges via USB-C and supports a quick charge feature that reportedly provides 11 hours of playback from a 10-minute plug-in.

For connectivity, these feature Bluetooth 6.1 with multipoint connectivity, allowing them to connect to two devices simultaneously across iOS and Android. They also include a low-latency gaming mode and customizable touch controls on the stems, which can be mapped to launch specific apps like Spotify.

While the trio shares the same design language and software experience, each model targets a different price segment with its own combination of cameras, performance, battery capacity, and connectivity features.

Speculation is rife that Oppo could be planning to launch the Find X10 series in China this September. The rumor mill has consistently leaked details about the lineup’s specifications. The latest leak, courtesy of tipster Digital Chat Station, reveals key details about the displays of the Find X10 Ultra and Find X10 Pro Max.

Oppo Find X10 Ultra, Find X10 Pro Max display specs tipped

According to the tipster, Oppo’s next-generation flagship lineup is currently being tested with a 6.89-inch ±2K LTPO display. Recent reports have revealed that the Find X10 Pro Max, as well as the Find X10 Ultra, which is expected to debut in the first half of 2027, will feature the same display.

The tipster claims the panel features the brand’s signature large-radius corner design, a new ultra-narrow symmetrical bezel packaging technology that further reduces bezel size, support for the BT.2020 color gamut, and a new-generation display material.

DCS also adds that BOE remains the display supplier for the current engineering samples. As always, these details should be treated as unofficial until Oppo confirms them.

While the Find X10 Pro Max and Find X10 Ultra are expected to feature the same display, the two devices are likely to be powered by different chipsets. The Pro Max could pack a Dimensity 9600-series chip, while the Ultra edition may feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.

Alongside this, the Categories section within the app drawer now includes app recommendations based on usage patterns, helping users access frequently opened apps more quickly.

Oppo is wasting no time pushing smartphone photography even further. Fresh leaks suggest the upcoming Find X10 Ultra will fix one of the few weak spots from its predecessor, the dedicated 10x optical telephoto camera, while keeping that impressive long-range zoom capability intact.

The Find X9 Ultra, which launched earlier in 2026, has been one of the standout camera phones of the year alongside devices like the Vivo X300 Ultra. Its Hasselblad-tuned setup includes a pretty rare 50MP 10x periscope telephoto lens (230mm equivalent). The current flagship offers up to 20x “optical-quality” zoom through clever image processing. The downside? The relatively small 1/2.75-inch sensor on that 10x lens has struggled in low light compared to the bigger 3x periscope in the same phone.

According to well-known Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station, Oppo is planning to address exactly that issue with the Find X10 Ultra. In one of his recent Weibo posts, he claimed the sensor behind the 10x telephoto could jump to a much larger 1/1.95-inch unit. The resolution remains 50MP.

That bigger sensor should pull in more light, cut down on noise, and deliver noticeably better results in dim or tricky lighting conditions. He also mentioned it won’t be the Sony LYT-600, but the exact sensor model is still unknown this early on.

Oppo is among them, and after key details of its upcoming wide foldable surfaced earlier this month, a new leak has shed more light on the company’s future plans.

Oppo Find N7 Wide’s design tipped

Chinese tipster Smart Pikachu has claimed that Oppo’s next-generation wide foldable phone, which is tentatively called the Oppo Find N7 Wide, could arrive with display technology aimed at making the crease significantly less visible. The tipster also suggested that the device may feature a horizontally arranged camera module on the rear.

The same source also claimed the Oppo Find X10 Ultra is being tested with an ultra-thin bezel design that could deliver a more immersive viewing experience. In addition, it is said to feature a circular rear camera module, continuing a design language that has become familiar across several premium Chinese flagships.

Q1 2027 launch expected

Earlier this month, tipster Digital Chat Station revealed that Oppo was testing a new book-style wide foldable phone that could debut in the first quarter of 2027. The prototype was said to feature a foldable inner display measuring around 7.6 inches alongside a 5.5-inch cover screen. Samsung Display and BOE were reportedly involved in panel development.

The same leak claimed that the device could be powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming  Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset built on a 2nm process. Oppo is also said to be developing a new-generation hinge mechanism designed to further minimise the display crease, a claim that now appears to align with Smart Pikachu’s latest comments.

Oppo has quietly introduced the Reno 15A in Japan, bringing a familiar set of specifications under a different name. The smartphone shares its model number and hardware with the Oppo Reno 15F, suggesting that the two devices are essentially the same product aimed at different markets.

Oppo Reno 15A specifications and features

The Oppo Reno 15A sports a 6.6-inch AMOLED display that delivers Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, 10-bit colour depth, and up to 1,400 nits of peak brightness in sunlight. The screen is protected by AGC Dragontrail STAR D+ glass, while an in-display fingerprint scanner handles biometric authentication.

Under the hood is the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. One of its key highlights is a 7,000mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging and 55W PPS charging.

On the back, the Reno 15A features a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS support, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. On the front, it houses a 50-megapixel selfie camera. Additional features include NFC support, Bluetooth 5.1, USB Type-C audio, microSD card expansion, and ColorOS 16 based on Android 16. For more durability, the 15A offers IP66/68/69 ldurabilityevels of dust and water resistance.

Oppo Reno 15A price and availability

The Oppo Reno 15A will be available in Afterglow Pink, Twilight Navy, and Aurora Blue colour options. The 8GB+128GB variant is priced at 64,800 yen (~$400), while the 12GB+256GB model costs 76,800 yen (~ $480).

It should be noted that the Reno 15A is a Japan-exclusive smartphone and appears to be a rebranded version of the Oppo Reno 15F, which is available in other regions. Both devices carry the CPH2801 model number and feature identical core specifications.

Oppo has announced a new round of enhancements for ColorOS 16 as part of its June experience update. The latest release focuses on AI-powered features, smarter information cards and ecosystem improvements, bringing a mix of productivity, entertainment and personalisation upgrades to supported devices.

ColorOS 16 June update adds new AI and smart features

One of the key additions is an upgraded AI Fluid Cloud experience. Oppo has added support for Kugou Music on the lock screen island, allowing users to access playback information more conveniently. The Fluid Cloud system is also gaining integration with class schedules and calendar-based course reminders, making it easier for students and professionals to keep track of upcoming activities without opening multiple apps.

The company is also strengthening its AI assistant capabilities. Football fans will receive new match-focused features through Xiaobu Suggestions, including dedicated match cards that provide quick access to scores and match information. Oppo is additionally introducing a football viewing assistant within the Xiaobu Assistant ecosystem, designed to offer a more interactive experience while following live games.

Another notable addition is AI Memory, which can help users organise and revisit information more efficiently. Oppo has also enhanced Xiaobu Memory with support for importing content from various sources, allowing information to be gathered and managed in a more streamlined way. These changes continue Oppo’s broader push toward integrating AI into everyday smartphone interactions.

Beyond AI features, the June update introduces several quality-of-life improvements. Users can now connect to Feiniu private cloud storage with a more seamless setup process. The update further includes improvements related to digital vehicle credentials and cross-device experiences. Oppo’s next-generation flagship smartphone may have taken an early step into the spotlight. A new leak from well-known tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed the specifications of a high-end smartphone believed to be the Oppo Find X10 Pro, offering an early look at what the company could be preparing for its premium lineup.

Oppo Find X10 Pro leak points to major hardware upgrades

According to the tipster, the alleged Oppo Find X10 Pro could feature a 6.78-inch flat OLED LTPO display with a 1.5K resolution. The panel is said to adopt extremely slim bezels on all four sides along with large, rounded corners. The engineering prototype is reportedly using a new-generation Tianma display substrate, suggesting improvements in display quality and efficiency.

Performance could be handled by MediaTek’s upcoming 2nm Dimensity 9600 chipset. The phone is also tipped to include an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner and carry both IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.

The Find X10 Pro’s camera setup appears to be one of the most ambitious aspects of the device. The leak claims the phone will feature a 200-megapixel Samsung HPC primary camera with a sensor size of around 1/1.3 inches. It may be accompanied by a second 200-megapixel large-sensor telephoto camera, potentially delivering high-resolution zoom photography. Battery capacity is another area where the alleged Find X10 Pro could see a substantial jump. Smartphone prices have been going up for a while now, and the next generation of flagships may continue that trend. 

As you may know, rising costs of components like DRAM and NAND storage are forcing brands to raise prices across mid-range and flagship segments. Now, Weibo tipster DCS has shared what the next flagship lineup could cost in China for the 12GB RAM + 256GB storage variant.

The leaked pricing breakdown is as follows:

• Next-gen Standard (3nm): ¥4,999 (~$738)
• Next-gen Standard (2nm): ¥5,499 (~$812)
• Next-gen Pro: ¥5,999 (~$886)
• Next-gen Pro Max: ¥6,999 (~$1,034)
• Next-gen Ultra: ¥8,999 (~$1,329)

Here’s the basis of the claim

DCS bases these estimates on how prices have moved between past models. The Find X8s was priced at ¥4,199, the Find X9 at ¥4,399. The X200s came in at ¥4,199, and the X300 at ¥4,399. 

That is, in general, a major iteration costs ¥100–¥300 more than the semi-iterative model before it. The X300s, a semi-iterative release, launched at ¥4,999 this year. As a result, DCS claims an iterative model will launch at ¥4,999 at the low end, possibly more.

There are real cost pressures behind these numbers. Qualcomm is reportedly paying around 24% higher rates to TSMC for newer chips, which is one of the factors contributing to higher flagship prices. 

Moreover, LPDDR5X DRAM costs are already up 5%, with further increases expected. Manufacturers are also shifting production toward high-bandwidth memory used in AI infrastructure, which reduces the supply available for smartphones and adds to the cost pressure.

As we previously covered, brands like OnePlus, Nothing, and Xiaomi have already raised prices in India by ₹1,000 to ₹5,000 for the same reasons. 

These are still estimates from a tipster, not confirmed figures. But the pricing history and supply chain context give them some basis.

Last month, Oppo unveiled the Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro in China, powered by the Dimensity 8550 Super and Dimensity 9500s chipsets, respectively. A recent Geekbench listing revealed that the global version of the Reno 16 will feature the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 chipset. Now, in a new development, the global edition of the Reno 16 Pro has also surfaced on the same benchmarking platform. The listing reveals that the device is powered by a Dimensity chip, but not the same one found in its Chinese counterpart.

The listing reveals that an upcoming Oppo smartphone bearing the model number CPH2863 has appeared on Geekbench. Previous certification listings have confirmed that this model number belongs to the global version of the Reno 16 Pro.

The Geekbench listing reveals that the device is powered by the MediaTek MT6899 chip. Its CPU configuration and GPU details (via metadata) suggest that it is powered by the Dimensity 8500 chipset. To put this into context, the Chinese edition of the Reno 16 features the Dimensity 8550 Super chip.

The Dimensity 8550 Super and Dimensity 8550 share the same CPU and GPU specifications, but the 8550 Super mainly offers AI-related enhancements. Therefore, there is a possibility that the Reno 16 Pro’s chipset could actually be the Dimensity 8550.

Coming back to the Geekbench listing, the Reno 16 Pro is equipped with 12GB of RAM and runs Android 16. In Geekbench’s single-core and multi-core tests, the device achieved scores of 1,575 and 5,889 points, respectively.

While other details about the global version of the Reno 16 Pro remain under wraps, the device was previously spotted with support for 80W fast charging through a TÜV certification listing in March.

Apart from the Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro, the global lineup is also expected to include a third model called the Reno 16F. Rumors suggest that this device could be powered by the Dimensity 7300 chipset.

Reports indicate that the Reno 16 series may debut in multiple global markets by early July. As a result, Oppo is expected to begin teasing the lineup within the next few days.

The budget smartphone market may be heading in an unexpected (or expected?) direction this year. According to a recent post from a reliable industry insider, several sub-brands of major smartphone makers are preparing to launch new devices in the sub-1,000 yuan (around $140) segment.

The surprising part is that many of these phones will scale back hardware instead of improving it.

The report claims that the upcoming budget phones will continue to use 1080p LCD panels and bring back the waterdrop notch. The entry-level memory configurations are also reportedly reverting to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard such news. A report late last year suggested that 16GB of RAM could become rare in flagship phones by 2026, while 4GB of RAM could become far more common in budget devices.

Blame the memory crisis, folks

You probably already know who is to blame. The biggest reason is the sharp increase in memory chip prices.

According to market research firm TrendForce, global DRAM contract prices rose by more than 40% for two consecutive quarters, from the fourth quarter of 2025 through the first quarter of 2026.

Another report from Counterpoint suggests the situation may be even more difficult. It says prices across the memory market increased by 80–90% quarter-over-quarter during the first quarter of 2026, with DRAM, NAND, and HBM chips all reaching record highs.

Xiaomi founder Lei Jun also said that the ongoing surge in memory prices has been “extremely aggressive” and predicted that prices across the memory industry could continue climbing over the next two years. He also suggested that users planning to upgrade their phones may want to do so sooner rather than later.

Not long ago, many affordable smartphones launched with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage as standard. However, as component costs continue to rise, manufacturers are rethinking their entry-level strategies.

If memory prices remain high, higher-capacity variants could become increasingly expensive, while budget phones may continue making compromises that many buyers thought were a thing of the past.

Oppo Find N7’s wide foldable version in the works

As can be seen above, DCS has now revealed details about Oppo’s own wide foldable phone, although its final moniker remains unknown. While the name is still under wraps, it remains to be seen whether it could be called the Oppo Find N7 or something else.

The tipster claims that the engineering prototype is equipped with a foldable inner display measuring around 7.6 inches and a cover screen of roughly 5.5 inches. Both Samsung Display (SDC) and BOE are reportedly involved in supplying the panels. The device is also said to feature Qualcomm’s next-generation 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset and is currently in the prototype testing stage.

The foldable is further said to adopt a design approach similar to Apple’s products and will feature Oppo’s latest-generation crease-minimizing hinge technology. DCS also hinted that the new hinge could outperform competing foldable solutions currently available on the market.

The tipster revealed in the comments section that the Find N7 is expected to debut in the first quarter of 2027. Apart from Oppo, Honor, Xiaomi, and Vivo are also expected to introduce wide foldable phones next year.

ColorOS design chief shares sets expectations about ColorOS 17

On June 2, Digital Chat Station claimed that an upcoming Android interface, referred to as “C17”, would introduce several visual refinements. According to the tipster, the software could feature a stronger liquid glass-inspired appearance, more consistent rounded corners across the interface, enhanced light-field rendering effects and dynamic lighting animations in areas such as notifications, music playback controls and the Dynamic Island-style interface.

The tipster has now shared additional details, stating that the software may include a completely new light-field interaction system, AI-powered adaptive colour matching and glass-like interface materials. While the overall layout may not appear dramatically different at first glance, the finer visual details are said to deliver a significantly more polished look and feel.

Following the latest leak, some users speculated that the information was related to ColorOS 17. Responding to these claims, ColorOS Design Director Chen Xi clarified that the leaked description likely does not refer to Oppo’s software. He suggested that the confusion may have stemmed from the mention of light-field design, a term already associated with Oppo’s design language.

Chen added that another smartphone brand is reportedly taking a far more aggressive approach towards liquid glass-style visuals. In contrast, ColorOS 17 is expected to focus on core user experience improvements rather than major interface redesigns. He also noted that the summer development period is generally dedicated to optimising system performance and refining everyday usability, while larger feature additions are usually introduced later.

A new Oppo smartphone appears to be inching closer to launch in China. A device carrying the model number PYD110 has now surfaced on the TENAA certification platform, revealing several key specifications ahead of its official debut. While Oppo has not confirmed the marketing name yet, Chinese tech bloggers believe the handset could launch as the Oppo K15, joining the Oppo K15 Pro and Oppo K15 Pro+, which went official in April in China.

Oppo K15 specifications

The TENAA listing suggests that the alleged Oppo K15 could arrive with a 6.59-inch AMOLED display offering a resolution of 1256 x 2760 pixels. The panel is also expected to support an in-display fingerprint scanner and face unlock functionality. The device measures 158.3 x 75.13 x 8.27mm and weighs 205 grams.

The certification reveals a rated battery capacity of 7,755mAh, indicating that the typical capacity could be around 8,000mAh when officially announced. There’s no information about the fast-charging capabilities of this device.

Under the hood, the smartphone is listed with an octa-core processor clocked at 2.5GHz. While the chipset name remains unknown, the device is expected to be offered in 8GB and 12GB RAM variants, paired with 256GB and 512GB storage options.

For photography, the listing points to a dual rear camera setup consisting of two 50-megapixel sensors. On the front, the phone is expected to feature a 50-megapixel selfie camera. Other features mentioned in the listing include an infrared blaster, Bluetooth, and a USB-C. Last month, Oppo unveiled the Oppo Reno 16 and Reno 16 Pro in China. While the Dimensity 8500 Super chip powers the former, the latter comes equipped with the Dimensity 9500s. It appears that the brand is now gearing up for the global launch of the series, as devices such as the Reno 16F, Reno 16, and Reno 16 Pro have already been spotted on certification platforms across different countries. In a new development, the Reno 16’s global version has also appeared on Geekbench, revealing that it will be different from its Chinese counterpart.

Oppo Reno 16 spotted on Geekbench

As can be seen above, an upcoming Oppo smartphone with model number CPH2865 has emerged on Geekbench. Previously spotted on certification platforms such as TDRA (UAE) and NBTC (Thailand), this model number has been linked to the global version of the Reno 16.

The Geekbench listing confirms that the Reno 16 is powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, which also powers the global version of the Reno 15. As usual, the listing does not directly mention the chipset’s name, but its part number (SM7750), CPU configuration, and GPU details available through Geekbench metadata confirm the presence of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4.

The Reno 16’s Geekbench listing further reveals 12GB of RAM and Android 16. In the single-core and multi-core tests, the device scored 1,240 and 3,994 points, respectively. While there is no official confirmation regarding the Reno 16 series’ launch date, the Geekbench appearance suggests that Oppo could be internally testing the device ahead of its debut. It may launch later this month or in the first half of July.

The other details of the Reno 16’s global version remain under wraps. However, considering that it is launching in the same year as the Reno 15, it may not arrive with major upgrades.

Reliable tipster Digital Chat Station (DCS) has shared an interesting exclusive today claiming that the Oppo Find X10 Ultra could again be the only Android flagship in 2027 with dual periscope camera and a 10x super telephoto lens.

According to DCS, when it comes to “top-tier” Android flagships next year, the Find X10 Ultra looks set to be the only device offering this combination. The tipster hints that this setup will also see further upgrades over its predecessor, though specifics haven’t been shared yet.

This lines up well with what we already know about the phone. The Find X10 Ultra is expected to sport a 6.89-inch 2K LTPO OLED display, a 7,000mAh+ battery, and a next-generation 200MP Samsung HPA LOFIC primary camera sensor. The Ultra model is expected to launch in the first half of 2027, following the rest of the X10 lineup.

Vivo quietly backs from 10x telephoto for X500 Ultra

The more intriguing part of DCS’ claim is that, allegedly, a rival has quietly backed away from the 10x zoom race. The tipster reveals that one Android brand was evaluating a 10x telephoto solution, but its latest prototype has now been cancelled.

The brand is now said to be sticking with its existing formula of a 200MP periscope camera paired with ISZ (In-Sensor Zoom) technology instead. 

All signs point to this being the Vivo X500 Ultra. Just days ago, a leak surfaced suggesting Vivo was testing a 10x telephoto camera for the X500 Ultra, which would have been a major upgrade from the X300 Ultra’s single 200MP periscope offering around 3.7x optical zoom. It now appears those plans have been scrapped before they got off the ground.

So while Vivo falls back on its tried-and-tested periscope + ISZ approach, Oppo looks set to double down on its dual-periscope strategy.

Let’s get it straight: the OPPO Find X9 Ultra did not disappoint. It’s genuinely a great camera phone. After carrying it on a five‑day trip to Japan and capturing over a thousand photos, I came to fully appreciate just how impressive its strengths really are. That said, I also discovered quite a few weaknesses. So let’s dive into the sample shots and break down the camera performance of the Find X9 Ultra.

Master Mode

Since Master Mode tends to reduce shutter time, photos often come out slightly underexposed. Combined with vignetting and lighter post-processing, the results look more cinematic. Shots taken at dusk also appear much closer to what your eyes actually see, while the default mode makes it feel like the sun never went down. The downside, however, is that exposure can sometimes be pushed too low, turning sunny days into scenes that look overcast.

As for the default mode, its characteristics are very aggressive HDR, heavy sharpening, and highly saturated colors. Well, sometimes it really does make your photos look better, like sharper details and higher dynamic range. But it depends on the scene, and sometimes it completely ruins the shot. For example, the excessive HDR processing can make daytime photos look flat, and even the sun no longer feels blinding.

At night, shadow areas may also exhibit slight color artifacts.

Based on my experience of taking over a thousand photos, I still recommend using Master Mode for daily shooting, and only switching back to the default mode when the scene doesn’t suit it. Because honestly, after looking at too many high-contrast and over-sharpened photos, it really feels like they’re assaulting my eyes. So, unless otherwise specified, every photo shown was taken using Master Mode.

23mm

Although the sensor has become smaller and the glass elements is gone, the actual image quality has not regressed. You can still take photos with an extremely shallow depth of field. Though sometimes a shallow depth of field is not necessarily a good thing, especially when shooting food.

Thankfully, this time the main camera is 200MP, so OPPO added a new option in the Find X9 Ultra: High Resolution mode. Once enabled, under good lighting conditions, the photos you take will be 28MP. This allows the camera to fully take advantage of the high-resolution sensor.

Well, there’s honestly not much else to say. This main camera is simply one of the best cameras available right now, and it can reliably capture what you want in almost any situation.

For example, the photo was taken in an environment where I could barely see anything with my own eyes. Under conditions like that, only the main camera could capture the black cat walking by at night.

230mm

Because this new 10x optical telephoto lens requires light to go through five reflections before reaching the sensor, theoretically, its optical quality was never going to be amazing. And in practice, that’s exactly the case. If you zoom in and inspect any photo taken with this lens, you can almost always find red or green outlines appearing around object edges.

Since chromatic aberration exists, spherical aberration naturally exists as well. Simply put, the image just doesn’t look sharp enough. And if you’re using Master Mode, the photos can end up looking like they have a soft diffusion filter applied. So it’s obvious that the bottleneck of this camera is not the sensor, but the lens itself. Compared to the Samsung S23 Ultra, this telephoto camera only wins by a very narrow margin in image quality.

The scenarios where this high-resolution sensor truly shines are cloudy weather or scenes beyond 230mm. Without harsh lighting, the aberration issues become much less noticeable. And thanks to In-Sensor Zoom, it can extend to 460mm, making bird photography barely usable as well. Even though I complained quite a bit about the aberration problems earlier, realistically, if you don’t zoom in, you probably won’t notice them at all. And once the photos are uploaded to social media, nobody will notice those tiny flaws anyway. In reality, I’m still pretty satisfied with this lens. It may not be perfect, but it genuinely allows me to capture more distant scenery.

Have you ever thought about this question: under what circumstances would you even photograph such distant objects in pitch-black darkness? So even though it does perform better than Samsung at night, I honestly think that advantage is meaningless.

70mm

Between the ultra-long telephoto camera and the main camera, OPPO chose a 200MP sensor as the transition camera. But with an aperture this large, calling it a “transition camera” doesn’t really feel appropriate. In fact, out of all four cameras, this one is my favorite. With its massive sensor size and huge aperture, this is the best 70mm camera ever made on a smartphone.

Just like the main camera, it delivers professional camera-level background blur. At 6x zoom, image sharpness drops slightly, but it’s still acceptable. Most telephoto cameras struggle badly at night, but the Find X9 Ultra does not. This camera can still produce satisfying results after dark.

For example, in this photo taken at dusk, both the white house nearby and the signal tower in the distance remain incredibly sharp. Just like the main camera, I genuinely cannot find anything to complain about with this 70mm camera. It is simply one of the best smartphone cameras ever made.

14mm

The ultra-wide camera is slightly better than the one on the Find X8 Ultra, but compared to the other three cameras, it feels pretty bad. Purple fringing is quite severe. Even without backlighting, you can still spot purple edges once you zoom into the corners of the image. And if you combine backlighting with scenes full of high-frequency detail, the results become downright terrible. This once again proves that the bottleneck, just like the 10x telephoto camera, lies in the lens rather than the sensor.

At night, the gap between this camera and its siblings becomes even larger. Besides the obvious loss in sharpness, the lack of OIS also dramatically increases the number of blurry shots. The only solution is to take multiple photos and hope one of them comes out sharp.

Although this ultra-wide camera drags the whole system down, I can understand OPPO’s decision. During my trip, only about 1/10 of my photos were actually taken with this camera. Even when facing extremely grand scenery, the main camera’s 23mm focal length was already wide enough. Sacrificing the ultra-wide camera in exchange for more space for the telephoto system was honestly a smart decision.

Photography Kit

Unfortunately, OPPO’s photography kit and teleconverter are not sold separately this time. If you want them, you’ll have to spend nearly $1800, together with the 1TB version of the phone. I’m not rich, so I didn’t buy it, but I did get some hands-on experience with the kit at an OPPO offline store. My first impression was this: compared to practicality, it gives you far more emotional value.

Although the teleconverter is only 300mm, it is physically larger and longer than vivo’s 400mm one. The grip and phone case are integrated together, but the grip itself is very shallow, making it difficult to hold such a heavy phone securely. The only buttons are the shutter key and zoom lever, and it connects via Bluetooth. There’s no doubt that the design is ahead of both Xiaomi and vivo, but in terms of practicality, it also unquestionably ranks last.

Considering the Find X9 Ultra already has a 230mm camera, and the global version could potentially exceed $2000, I’d still recommend saving your money for the hardships of life instead.

Video Recording

Every clip was recorded in 4K 30FPS, converted from O-Log2 back to Rec.709, without any color grading. I set the bitrate to the highest setting, so every clip basically exceeded 75Mbps. For a smartphone, this level of stabilization plus such clear image quality is already top-tier.

But there are still some flaws. For example, the telephoto camera occasionally shows slight jitter. And once again, this ultra-wide camera drags everything down. Not only does it still suffer from purple fringing, but its dynamic range is also noticeably weaker. Even enabling O-Log2 cannot recover the highlights.

At night, the image quality also drops dramatically, with noise dancing all over the screen. You can clearly see how massive the gap becomes once I switch back to the main camera. But aside from that, I’m still very satisfied with the video quality from the other cameras.

Verdict

In the past, whenever I traveled and wanted a full focal‑length photography experience, I had to carry a massive lens—bigger than this phone. Now, OPPO offers a much smarter alternative. The Find X9 Ultra is the first true all‑focal‑length smartphone I’ve ever seen. And for me, the essence of smartphone photography comes down to one word: convenience.

Even if its image quality can’t quite match a mirrorless camera, it lets you carry fewer lenses, climb higher mountains, travel to more places, and meet more people. That, to me, is the true essence of smartphone photography. And the Find X9 Ultra is the ultimate device that fully embodies that philosophy.

The handheld camera market is about to get a lot more crowded. Prominent Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station has shared new details suggesting that both Oppo and Vivo are independently developing compact gimbal cameras, and the specs sound flagship, to say the very least. 

Both devices are said to pack a 200MP sensor on a 1/1.12-inch imaging chip. The specs matches to that of Sony’s LYT-901 sensor, although the tipster hasn’t shared the exact sensor details. 

The branding angle is interesting too. Oppo’s version may carry a Hasselblad co-branding, while Vivo’s could come with Zeiss on the label, the same partnerships both brands already use on their flagship smartphones. Both cameras are also said to run on high-end processors, though exact chip names have not been confirmed yet.

Oppo and Vivo’s handhelds will also offer ecosystem integration

One of the more practical features mentioned in the leak is ecosystem integration. Both devices will support seamless interconnection with their respective smartphones, meaning photos and videos captured on the pocket camera can be transferred, edited, and shared directly through your phone without any friction.

We first reported Vivo’s vlogging camera plans back in February, and Oppo’s internal project codenamed “Fuyao” was confirmed more recently. Vivo is reportedly preparing an initial inventory of around one million units, suggesting strong expectations for the product.

Industry analysts believe smartphone makers entering this segment could shake up a market currently dominated by DJI and Insta360, given their strengths in imaging algorithms, AI processing, and competitive pricing.

Both devices are expected to launch before the end of 2026.
