<p>Szymon Kopec, more popularly known as the Product Lead at <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oneplus/">OnePlus</a>, has revealed a bunch of new features coming soon to Indian OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T devices. While new features being added through software updates <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/05/17/oneplus-7-pro-receiving-the-first-update-with-dc-dimming-and-other-optimizations/">is nothing new</a>, this case is slightly different. These features were all developed in-house at OnePlus’ R&amp;D center in Hyderabad, and are tailor-crafted for the Indian market.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-15.jpg?x10805"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-227514" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-15.jpg?x10805" alt="OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition Hands On (15)" width="1620" height="1080" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-15.jpg 1620w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-15-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-15-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/OnePlus-6T-McLaren-Edition-Hands-On-15-1024x683.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1620px) 100vw, 1620px" /></a></p>
<p>The new features are Work-life Balance, a Smart SMS app, Caller Identification, OnePlus Roaming, and Cricket Scores. These names thankfully aren&#8217;t finalized and are subject to change before launch. The India-specific features will be rolling out to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-6/">OnePlus 6</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-6t/">6T</a> devices in the Open Beta build of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/03/04/oxygenos-9-0-4-brings-januarys-security-patch-and-google-duo-integration-to-oneplus-5-and-oneplus-5t/">OxygenOS</a> at the end of June.</p>
<h3></h3>
<h3><strong>Caller Identification</strong></h3>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-254442 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-2-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="696" height="392" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-2-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-2-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-2-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-2-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-2-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-2-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-2.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p>First up, we&#8217;ve got Caller Identification. This feature will be rolled into the dialer, and it will help the user to identify unknown callers before picking up. The feature smartly recognizes and labels both spam and legitimate business calls as you&#8217;d expect. On top of this, it also allows the user to tag unknown numbers as Spam, Real Estate Agent, Courier/Deliver, etc themselves.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>Smart SMS</strong></h3>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-254443 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-3-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="696" height="392" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-3-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-3-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-3-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-3-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-3-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-3-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-3.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p>Next, we have the Smart SMS app. How we understand it, the app will identify different types of service SMSes, be it bills, banking, transport, etc. It will then categorize them and display the relevant information accordingly. For example, an SMS from a courier will have the ETA for the arrival and contextual buttons to track your package. OnePlus claims the app can identify 39 different types of service messages, impressive!</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>Work-life Balance</strong></h3>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-254444 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-4-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="696" height="392" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-4-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-4-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-4-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-4-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-4-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-4-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-4.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p>Perhaps the most interesting feature in the lineup, Work-life Balance is essentially a time and lifestyle management app. It lets you record when you go to and leave from work, and accordingly lets you choose what notifications you see both the times. You can block social media notifications at work, and hide work emails at home. You can categorize apps under &#8216;Work&#8217; and &#8216;Life&#8217;, and see how much time you&#8217;ve spent on both via a bar chart.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>

</ul>
<h3></h3>
<h3><strong>OnePlus Roaming</strong></h3>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-254445 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-5-1024x576.jpg?x10805" alt="" width="696" height="392" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-5-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-5-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-5-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-5-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-5-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-5-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/OnePlus-new-features-5.jpg 1200w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p>OnePlus Roaming, on the other hand, seems decidedly simple. It&#8217;s similar to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/brand/oppo/">Oppo</a>&#8216;s ORoaming which offers you affordable data packs when you travel overseas. You get to keep your own SIM card and save money from buying a brand new one. This feature will be baked right into the settings under the &#8216;Wi-Fi &amp; Internet&#8217; options.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>Cricket Scores</strong></h3>
<p>Last, of all, we&#8217;ve got Cricket Scores which is pretty self-explanatory. Working with ESPNCricinfo, your OnePlus device will showcase current big cricket matches, as well as provide live score updates for them. Cricket Scores will be accessible straight from the Shelf, which is the OnePlus equivalent of the Google Now screen.</p>
<p>We haven&#8217;t been given a solid release date for these features, though we know we&#8217;re going to see them in the Open Beta builds of OxygenOS in June. We can expect to see these features roll out to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/05/16/oneplus-7-pro-launch-china/">OnePlus 7 Pro</a> soon enough as well, though the OnePlus 6 and 6T take higher priority for now. We&#8217;re looking forward to seeing how the features work, as well as what else OnePlus has in store.</p>

The company is citing bug-related issues for taking such step.</p>
<p>However, the China-based company said that it is now preparing to roll out the new Oxygen OS 5.0.1 update and the partial release of the same will go live soon. But the company has not yet provided any specific timeline regarding the roll out of this new Oxygen OS 5.0.1 update.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-164798 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/OxygenOS-5.0-oneplus-5.jpg?x10805" alt="Oxygen OS 5.0 for OnePlus 5" width="780" height="400" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/OxygenOS-5.0-oneplus-5.jpg 780w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/OxygenOS-5.0-oneplus-5-300x154.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/OxygenOS-5.0-oneplus-5-768x394.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 780px) 100vw, 780px" /></p>
<p>The company has also not revealed the exact reason behind the decision to cancel the roll out of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android-oreo/">Android Oreo</a> update for OnePlus 5. After two open beta releases, OnePlus 5 had finally started receiving the Android 8.0 Oreo-based OxygenOS 5.0 update last month.</p>
<p>The update also included the Face Unlock feature, which was introduced by the company in its latest flagship device <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-5t/">OnePlus 5T</a>. It also featured an upgraded launcher with support for shelf optimisations. The Camera application was also improved with new UI design and optimisations for photography.</p>
<p>The update had also listed some other features addition such as parallel apps, new design for the quick settings, new design for the Lift up display, battery optimisation, among others.</p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-3/">OnePlus 3</a> and 3T are the first devices from the company to have received the latest OxygenOS 5.0.1 update. It comes with the latest December Android security patch, along with the support for aptX HD, new Wi-Fi hotspot manager, new adaptive mode screen calibration, and bug fixes.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-118796 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Hydrogen-OS.png?x10805" alt="Hydrogen OS" width="844" height="596" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Hydrogen-OS.png 844w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Hydrogen-OS-300x212.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Hydrogen-OS-768x542.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/02/Hydrogen-OS-255x180.png 255w" sizes="(max-width: 844px) 100vw, 844px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify">Although, Hydrogen OS is built for users in China, it is also available in English. Like most Chinese forks of Android, you can sideload Google Services after flashing it on your phone and unwanted Chinese apps can be uninstalled. Some users say Hydrogen OS has a better battery life than Oxygen OS and there is also call recording. There is even a poll on the OnePlus forum to determine the better one.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify">The update file is 1.2GB large and can be downloaded on the OnePlus site or on XDA. There are installers included to help you sideload Play Store in case you want to give it a shot.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-62439" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/oneplus-x-011.jpg?x10805" alt="oneplus x" width="550" height="550" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/oneplus-x-011.jpg 550w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/oneplus-x-011-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/oneplus-x-011-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/oneplus-x-011-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">While it may be a little late in coming as Google officially released Android 7.0 Nougat yesterday, the announcement might spur some folks who don&#8217;t want something big to pick up the device.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">OnePlus community builds are similar to beta releases before the final and official release. As with all beta releases, there are always issues that haven&#8217;t been ironed out. OnePlus says users may experience issues like network stability in select regions, third party apps compatibility, and language localisation.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">OS 3.1 will bring new features like new icon packs, a new wallpaper picker, new customisation for the alert slider, and changes to Shelf UX, apart from the default marshmallow ones. It will also come with new apps (OnePlus Music and OnePlus Gallery) and August&#8217;s security patch.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">If you are interested in flashing the community build on your phone, you should check the instructions OnePlus has put together <a href="http://downloads.oneplus.net/oneplus-x/oneplus_x_oxygenos_3.1.0_community_build/">here</a>.</p>
<h4 style="text-align: justify;">Hydrogen OS 2.5 for OnePlus 3</h4>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The OnePlus X isn&#8217;t the only phone that will be getting a new update. A Canadian official has announced the upcoming release of Hydrogen OS 2.5 for the OnePlus 3.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-95149" src="http://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/onePlus-3-H2OS-2.5.jpg?x10805" alt="onePlus 3 H2OS 2.5" width="610" height="1084" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/onePlus-3-H2OS-2.5.jpg 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/onePlus-3-H2OS-2.5-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/onePlus-3-H2OS-2.5-576x1024.jpg 576w" sizes="(max-width: 610px) 100vw, 610px" /></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">If you remember, back when the OnePlus One was released, the company announced that there will be two operating systems for the phone. Hydrogen OS for the Chinese variant and Oxygen OS for the international version.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><span style="color: #ff0000;">RELATED:</span> <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/2016/08/20/oneplus-close-beijing-shanghai-stores/">OnePlus to Close Beijing and Shanghai Stores</a><span id="more-95147"></span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The new OS is expected to bring in a ton of features and design changes. While some have expected OnePlus to merge both operating systems, this announcement doesn&#8217;t seem like they have any plans to do so.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">There is still no date on official release, but we will get you updated once we know.</p>
