<p>The Poco F4 is one of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/guides/best-flagship-killer-smartphones-in-india/">best flagship killer smartphones</a> released in 2022. Before its launch, there were leaks about a Pro model.</p>

<p>The so-called Poco F4 Pro was later revealed to be canceled. Now, months later, this unreleased smartphone appears in a video.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper">
<iframe loading="lazy" title="Canceled/Unreleased Poco F4 Pro: A Rebranded Redmi K50 Pro" width="696" height="392" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/0SaBhibjEXM?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
</div></figure>

<p>A Malaysia-based Xiaomi reseller called Xiaomi Kluang Technology <a href="https://www.facebook.com/XiaomeKluang/videos/1521209244992930/">showcased</a> (via <a href="https://xiaomiui.net/unreleased-poco-f4-pro-surfaced-37708/"><em>Xiaomiui</em></a>) the canceled Poco F4 Pro in a Facebook live stream in late September. The video confirms what the initial leaks about this device stated earlier this year.</p>

<p>The Poco F4 Pro is indeed a rebranded <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-k50-pro/">Redmi K50 Pro</a>. If it had gone official, it would have become the first Poco-branded smartphone with a QHD+ display.</p>

<p>The reason behind the product’s cancellation is a mystery. However, it is worth noting that the brand was undoubtedly testing it for global markets.</p>

<p>The phone in the video boots the last known internal MIUI Global build (V13.0.0.18.SLKMIXM). Xiaomi stopped releasing internal MIUI builds for this handset two months ahead of the launch of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-poco-f4/">Poco F4</a>.</p>

<p>If the Poco F4 Pro had been released, it would have offered features like a 6.67-inch QHD+ (3200 x 1440 pixels) 120Hz OLED display, MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, 108MP primary camera, 20MP selfie camera, dual stereo speakers, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, 5,000mAh battery, and 120W fast wired charging support.</p>

<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">According to </span><a href="https://xiaomiui.net/poco-f4-pro-release-cancelled-29459/"><i><span style="font-weight: 400;">Xiaomiui</span></i></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, Xiaomi, the parent company of </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Redmi/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Redmi</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/POCO/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Poco</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">, was working on Poco F4 Pro 5G until recently. But it appears that the company seems to have axed the plan to bring this device to the market.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">For the unaware, the Poco F4 5G is a rebranded </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-k40s/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Redmi K40S</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> with a 64MP primary camera instead of a 48MP sensor. Similarly, per MIUI code, the Poco F4 Pro 5G is based on </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-k50-pro/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Redmi K50 Pro</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The Redmi K50 Pro codenamed ‘Matisse’ is one of the few smartphones powered by a Mediatek Dimensity 9000 chipset. It is also one of the few upper mid-range handsets with a 2K AMOLED display that also happens to support Dolby Vision.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Xiaomiui states that </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Xiaomi/"><span style="font-weight: 400;">Xiaomi</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> had been developing internal MIUI builds for the Poco F4 Pro 5G till April 19. As it has been nearly two months since the release of the last software build, the blog suggests that the phone may have been canceled.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">However, it is worth noting that the Poco F4 Pro 5G’s branding recently </span><a href="https://twitter.com/yabhishekhd/status/1534949978300223497"><span style="font-weight: 400;">appeared</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;"> on the promo page meant for Poco F4 5G. Perhaps, it could be a typo as there are no other concrete proofs for the launch of this smartphone.</span></p>

Other than that, the announcement also teased a major announcement that has now been made.</p>
<p>The Xiaomi sub-brand is planning on introducing new F series devices in the global market and India. The <a href="https://twitter.com/IndiaPOCO" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tweet</a> from POCO states that the next-gen F series devices will be focused on &#8220;display and sound.&#8221;</p>

<p>The POCO F4 GT, which is a rebranded <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-k50-gaming-edition/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Redmi K50 Gaming Edition</a> has already been launched in the Europe and UK markets. So going off of that, we can expect that the rest of the POCO F4 series will also be rebranded Redmi K50 series devices.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-449711 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k50-pro-specs-1.jpg?x44794" alt="Redmi K50 Pro" width="800" height="800" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k50-pro-specs-1.jpg 800w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k50-pro-specs-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k50-pro-specs-1-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k50-pro-specs-1-768x768.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k50-pro-specs-1-696x696.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/redmi-k50-pro-specs-1-420x420.jpg 420w" sizes="(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px" /></p>
<p>So far, Redmi has two devices in the K50 series other than the gaming edition. These are the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-k50/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Redmi K50</a> and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-redmi-k50-pro/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">K50 Pro</a>. Both of these devices come with a 2K resolution AMOLED display and powerful stereo dual speakers. The K50 comes powered by the Dimensity 8100 SoC while the K50 Pro houses the Dimensity 9000 chipset.</p>
<p>Both the devices also feature triple-camera setups for photography with the pro model housing a 108-megapixel (OIS) + 8-megapixel ultra-wide + 2-megapixel macro. The K50 replaces the 108-megapixel sensor with a 40-megapixel sensor while the rest of the camera setup remains the same.</p>
<p>The K50 Pro has a 5,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging while the vanilla K50 has a larger 5,500 battery with 67W fast charging. These are likely to be the specifications for the upcoming F series smartphones in the global market. The device can also debut with totally different specifications in the Indian market as the POCO F4 with model number 220212111RI (Indian variant) recently appeared on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/05/09/poco-f4-indian-variant-allegedly-appears-on-imei-database-launch-expected-soon/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">IMEI database</a>.</p>

Now, it&#8217;s time for the successor <a href="http://gizochina.com/tag/poco-f4">POCO F4</a> to arrive in the market. So far, we have learned only a few details about the phone and rumors reveal that it will be a Redmi rebranded device. The tipster Mukul Sharma has now revealed some more details of the smartphone taking us closer to the launch.</p>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true">

<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>According to the tipster, the POCO F4&#8217;s serial production has begun in European and Eurasian regions. This confirms that the global launch is soon. Having said that, the POCO F3 series was first released in the global market. So we can expect the POCO F4 series to launch in the global market initially, and later it is expected to arrive in the Indian market.</p>

<p>Earlier leaks have revealed that the upcoming POCO F4 will be the <a>Redmi K40S</a> rebranded version. The smartphone was recently spotted on certification sites with the model number 22021211RG. The device was seen with a <a>Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC</a> paired with 8GB of RAM. The phone scored 1028 single-core points and 3391 multi-core points on the Geekbench 5 certification. The phone will boot on Android 12 out of the box, with MIUI 13 on top of it.</p>
<p>The device was spotted with a 4,400mAh battery supporting a 67W fast charging technology. This will be an improvement over the 33W fast charging support on the predecessor device.</p>
<p>The POCO F4 is tipped to come with a 6.3-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is expected to come with a triple camera system with a 50MP main lens, a 13MP ultra-wide, and a 5MP telemacro sensor. Upfront, it could have a 32MP unit for selfies.</p>
<p>Other than the POCO F4, there will also be the <a>POCO F4 Pro</a> and <a>POCO F4 GT</a>. The former is expected to come with the <a>Dimensity 9000 SoC,</a> while the latter could have the <a>Snapdragon 8 Gen 1</a> chipset.</p>

<p>For those unaware, the F4 series is set to include a base, Pro, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/poco-f4-gt/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">F4 GT</a> variant. But now, a recent leak has revealed interesting information regarding the vanilla model. The POCO F4 was spotted on FCC certification website (Via <a href="https://www.mysmartprice.com/gear/poco-f4-fcc-poco-f4-pro-imda-certification/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>MySmartPrice</em></a>), which hints at an imminent launch. It carried the 22021211RG model number and was even recently seen in an EEC listing as well. Furthermore, the FCC database lists the device with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/miui-13/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">MIUI 13</a>, which is a custom skin based on Android 12.</p>
<p>Apart from this, the certification also revealed that the smartphone will be powered by a 4,400mAh battery pack, which supports up to 67W fast charging. This model supports 5G networking, with at least three 5G bands. Previously, a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/03/04/new-poco-redmi-smartphones-for-india-receive-bis-certification/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">BIS listing had revealed</a> that the device will feature a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-870/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Qualcomm Snapdragon 870</a> SoC, along with 8GB of RAM. Similarly, the F4 Pro from the Chinese brand was also spotted on another certification website. It was the IMDA that listed the higher end variant with the model number 22021211G.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-448230 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Screenshot-2022-03-10-144034.png?x44794" alt="POCO" width="808" height="223" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Screenshot-2022-03-10-144034.png 808w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Screenshot-2022-03-10-144034-300x83.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Screenshot-2022-03-10-144034-768x212.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/03/Screenshot-2022-03-10-144034-696x192.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 808px) 100vw, 808px" /></p>
<p>Although, this listing did not reveal any information or specifications related to the device. Although, a recent <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/03/03/poco-f4-pro-imei-database/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">IMEI database revealed</a> its storage configurations, which included a 8GB+128GB, 8GB+256GB and 12GB+256GB variants. Notably, this model might launch in India as the Xiaomi 12X Pro or possibly as the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/redmi-k50-pro-plus/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Redmi K50 Pro+</a> as well. This would mean that it will be powered by a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mediatek-dimensity-9000/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">MediaTek Dimensity 9000</a> SoC and feature a 108 megapixel primary camera. Keep in mind that this is still an unconfirmed report, so take it with a pinch of salt and stick around for more updates.</p>

Key details about the standard model &#8212; the POCO F4 &#8212; are already out but it looks that the series will actually comprise three models this year. An alleged POCO F4 Pro+ was certified by EEC earlier and it&#8217;s now joined by the POCO F4 Pro, which has just made an appearance on the IMEI database.</p>
<p>A new <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Xiaomi">Xiaomi</a> device under the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/POCO">POCO</a> brand has been spotted on the IMEI database with model number 22011211G L11 (via <a href="https://xiaomiui.net/exclusive-poco-f4-pro-spotted-on-imei-database-10344/">Xiaomiui</a>). Codenamed &#8216;matisse,&#8217; the POCO F4 Pro moniker has actually been mentioned in the certificate, effectively confirming the name. The same device could be rebranded as the Xiaomi 12X Pro in India, as customary.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_444989" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-444989" style="width: 696px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="wp-image-444989 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Redmi-K50-Pro-Renders-Leak-03-1024x576.jpg?x44794" alt="Redmi K50 Pro Renders" width="696" height="392" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Redmi-K50-Pro-Renders-Leak-03-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Redmi-K50-Pro-Renders-Leak-03-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Redmi-K50-Pro-Renders-Leak-03-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Redmi-K50-Pro-Renders-Leak-03-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Redmi-K50-Pro-Renders-Leak-03-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Redmi-K50-Pro-Renders-Leak-03-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/Redmi-K50-Pro-Renders-Leak-03-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-444989" class="wp-caption-text">Redmi K50 Pro render (via @OnLeaks x @zoutons_uae)</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>The appearance of the POCO F4 Pro and POCO F4 Pro+ signals a change in strategy for the lineup, which last year offered the POCO F3 alone. The POCO F3 was sold as the Xiaomi Mi 11X alongside the Xiaomi Mi 11X Pro in India, but global users were deprived of a Pro model. This looks to be changing now, though.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s worth mentioning here that the POCO F4 Pro&#8217;s model number is shared with the Redmi K50 Pro+ launched recently in China, meaning it&#8217;s again nothing but a rebrand. Both will thus also have identical spec sheets. The Redmi K50 Pro+ is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chip and has the 108MP Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor as its primary rear camera.</p>

The EEC document was published on Tuesday and was first registered last year on December 29th.</p>
<p>The POCO F4 Pro+ will probably be the global variant of the soon-to-launch Chinese Redmi K50 Pro+ device, and will be a successor of sorts to the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/POCO-F3">POCO F3</a> that was released in March 2021. The POCO F3 never had a Pro variant, let alone a Pro+ model, so the new device could be signaling a new strategy.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-436994 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/POCO-F4-Pro-EEC-certification-1024x648.jpg?x44794" alt="POCO F4 Pro+ EEC certification" width="696" height="440" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/POCO-F4-Pro-EEC-certification-1024x648.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/POCO-F4-Pro-EEC-certification-300x190.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/POCO-F4-Pro-EEC-certification-768x486.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/POCO-F4-Pro-EEC-certification-696x440.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/POCO-F4-Pro-EEC-certification-1068x676.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/POCO-F4-Pro-EEC-certification-664x420.jpg 664w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/POCO-F4-Pro-EEC-certification.jpg 1198w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></p>
<p>As seen in the above image (via <a href="https://twitter.com/xiaomiui/status/1480907899736150017">Xiaomiui</a>), the EEC certificate does not delve into any of the specifications of the device. Still, we have had a few leaks in the past, revealing bits about its Chinese variant &#8212; <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/10/08/redmi-k50-pro-key-specifications-leak-reveals-snapdragon-898-108mp-camera-and-more/">Redmi K50 Pro+</a> &#8212; and we can be sure of both models coming with near-identical specs.</p>
<p>The Redmi K50 Pro+ and POCO F4 Pro+ will thus likely be coming with the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/Snapdragon-8-Gen-1">Snapdragon 8 Gen 1</a> chipset, although there are chances of them being powered by the Dimensity 9000 as well. The handset will also feature a dual VC liquid-cooled heat dissipation unit with a large surface area and pack a 4,700mAh battery with 120W fast charging support.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_436279" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-436279" style="width: 696px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-436279" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Redmi-K50-Pro-Render-Leak-1024x1024.jpg?x44794" alt="Redmi K50 Pro Render Leak" width="696" height="696" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Redmi-K50-Pro-Render-Leak-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Redmi-K50-Pro-Render-Leak-150x150.jpg 150w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Redmi-K50-Pro-Render-Leak-300x300.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Redmi-K50-Pro-Render-Leak-768x768.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Redmi-K50-Pro-Render-Leak-696x696.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Redmi-K50-Pro-Render-Leak-1068x1068.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Redmi-K50-Pro-Render-Leak-420x420.jpg 420w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Redmi-K50-Pro-Render-Leak-1920x1920.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Redmi-K50-Pro-Render-Leak.jpg 2048w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-436279" class="wp-caption-text">Redmi K50 Pro render leak by Xiaomiui</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2022/01/05/redmi-k50-lineup-launch-timeline-key-details-officially-confirmed/">Redmi K50 Pro+ has been confirmed</a> to go live sometime next month, meaning the POCO F4 Pro+ will likely be launched globally a few weeks later. March 2022 is the most likely date for a release considering the POCO F3 made its debut during the same month last year.</p>
