AnTuTu has released the list of best performance phones for three categories, such as flagship, sub-flagship, and midrange, for the month of April. The top 10 smartphones in the flagship category are dominated by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 mobile platform. The sub-flagship list is mainly populated with phones powered by the Dimensity 8100 and Snapdragon 870 chipsets. The mid-range category is led by the Snapdragon 778G series chips.

AnTuTu’s list of best performance flagship phones for April

The Black Shark 5 Pro, which is equipped with SD8G1 and SSD + UFS 3.1 storage solution, ranks first in this category with a 1,062,747 score. It is followed by Red Magic 7 Pro and the Lenovo Legion Y90. Both phones have scored 1,032,494 and 1,023,934, respectively.

Earlier this month, Nubia debuted the Red Magic 7 Pro gaming smartphone in the global market. The smartphone is now available for purchase in different regions across the globe.

The gaming smartphone has a 6.8-inch Full HD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 100 percent DCI P3 color gamut, 10-bit color, DC dimming, and more. It also features 960Hz multi-finger touch sampling rate and an in-display fingerprint sensor that doubles as a heart rate monitor.

Under the hood, the smartphone packs Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC paired with 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.1 storage. Chinese innovative tech company, Nubia in February 2022 launched the Red Magic 7 Pro in China. The gaming smartphone featured several top-end features as well as a spectacular design. The Red Magic 7 Pro has now been launched for the global market with early bird offers beginning on April 22.

Design & Display

The Nubia Red Magic 7 Pro packs a 6.8-inch Full HD+ OLED display with support for a 165Hz refresh rate. The display also brings support for 100 percent DCI P3 color gamut, 10-bit color, DC dimming, and other cool features. The display crams a fingerprint sensor under the display with support for heart rate monitoring as well.

The gaming phone features shoulder triggers for a seamless gaming experience. The phone comes with up to 500Hz touch sampling rate and enhanced audio, thanks to the Red Core 1 chip.

Specification- Red Magic 7 Pro

The Red Magic 7 Pro packs the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor paired with up to 18GB of LPDDR5 RAM while there is 1TB of internal storage onboard. The phone also supports virtual expansion which can extend the total RAM space to 24GB.

In addition, the gaming phone features the proprietary Red Core 1 chipset, a dedicated chip designed to enhance the gaming experience. In terms of the camera aspect, the 7 Pro adopts a triple camera setup consisting of a 64-megapixel main sensor teaming up with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2-megapixel macro sensor. For selfies, there is a 16-megapixel selfie shooter under the display.

As for the price, the Red Magic 7 Pro is priced at $799 ( €799, £679) for the 256GB Obsidian Black version. There is also a transparent version dubbed Supernova and it features 512GB of internal storage. This version is priced at $899 (€899, £759).

The gaming smartphone will be available in the UK and other markets in Europe. It will also be available in the US, Canada, and other regions such as the Middle East, Asia Pacific, Latin America.

REDMAGIC 7 Pro

REDMAGIC has scheduled to launch the REDMAGIC 7 Pro for international markets on April 12. The handset will be announced at 7 AM EST. However, we are not sure if the company has planned a  live stream.

The REDMAGIC 7 Pro is the first gaming smartphone with an under-display camera. The device also features a dedicated chip called Red Core 1 to enhance the gaming experience.

The regular features of the phone include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, liquid cooling system, RGB cooling fan, 165Hz OLED display, 165W fast charging, and more. Apart from two color variants, the handset also comes in a transparent edition.

OPPO F21 Pro Series

OPPO will be debuting the OPPO F21 Pro series at a virtual conference on April 12 in India. The event will kickstart at 5 PM IST. Readers will be able to live stream it on the brand’s official YouTube channel.

The company is expected to announce two devices, namely OPPO F21 Pro and OPPO F21 Pro 5G. They are said to be a rebranded OPPO Reno7 4G and a tweaked OPPO A96 5G respectively. The Red Magic 7 is the company’s latest flagship and gaming smartphone. The handset sports a 6.8 inch OLED display with FHD+ resolution that offers an impressive 165Hz refresh rate. With frame rate being important in gaming, this panel would likely be great for mobile gamers. Under the hood, the Red Magic 7 packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and runs Android 12 out of the box. This processor is paired with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of internal storage. The device is powered by a large 4,500mAh battery pack that supports a 120W of fast charging as well.

For gaming, the device also offers shoulder triggers as well, which paired with the Red Core 1, offers a 500Hz touch sampling rate. This chipset will also help enhance audio on the 7 series.

Apart from this, it also offer a full front screen body since it houses its selfie camera under the display to offer the most seamless gaming experience. It also sports the same display as the base mode, but with 100 percent DCI P3 color gamut, 10 bit color, DC dimming, and more. It also feature in display fingerprint sensor, which supports heart rate monitoring as well. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC but paired with up to 18GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 1TB of internal storage. With virtual expansion, it can even hit 24GB of total RAM.

For photography, it features the same 64 megapixel triple camera setup, along with an 8 megapixel ultra wide angle lens and a 2 megapixel macro sensor. On the front, it sports a 16 megapixel selfie shooter under the display. REDMAGIC 7 Pro is likely to launch alongside the vanilla REDMAGIC 7. The reason behind it is that the alleged Pro model has been spotted at the 3C certification site (via). These models are expected to replace the REDMAGIC 6 and REDMAGIC 6 Pro from last year.

A new Nubia smartphone with NX709J model number has been approved by the 3C certification site. It has been found through the 3C listing that the 5G-enabled handset may ship with a 165W charger. Even the REDMAGIC 7 has been spotted with a 165W charger in the recent past.

The NX709 REDMAGIC 7 Pro model is likely to be certified by the TENAA authority soon through which its specifications will be revealed. The REDMAGIC 6 and REDMAGIC 6 Pro that debuted last year was packed with identical specs. The former supports 66W fast charging, whereas the Pro variant supports 120W rapid charging.

REDMAGIC 7 specifications (rumoured)

The TENAA certification of the REDMAGIC 7 revealed that it has a 6.8-inch OLED FHD+ display integrated with a fingerprint scanner. It may support up to a 144Hz refresh rate. The device may ship with Android 12 OS and Red Magic UI. There is no information on the selfie camera of the device, whereas its rear-facing triple camera unit has a 64-megapixel main snapper.

The REDMAGIC 7 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, up to 16 GB of RAM. It may come with up to 512 GB of built-in storage and a battery of around 4,500mAh capacity. It is likely to sport a full-screen bezel-less and transparent design. It is speculated that there could be a REDMAGIC 7 series variant featuring an under-display camera.

Soon after Qualcomm announced its next-gen Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset for the flagship smartphones, brands like Xiaomi, Motorola, and Realme confirmed they will be among the first to launch devices powered by this new processor.

ZTE also announced that the company will be launching Snapdragon 8 Gen 1-powered smartphones under its ZTE, Nubia, and Red Magic brands. Among these brands, it has been revealed that the company is working on the Red Magic 7 series of gaming phones.

Now, ahead of the launch, the Red Magic 7 Gaming Smartphone has passed through the 3C certification process. It reveals that the phone carries model number NX679J and comes with support for up to 165W fast charging technology.

Recently, the same device was spotted on Bluetooth SIG, confirming the device’s name to be the Red Magic 7, and revealed that the smartphone will come with support for Bluetooth 5.2 for connectivity, along with 5G support.

If the reports are to be believed, then the smartphone could feature an industry-leading 165Hz OLED panel and 16GB of RAM. As for the cameras, there’s a possibility that it could feature the same 64-megapixel triple-camera setup as the current model.

The China-based company is expected to launch two models in the upcoming lineup, dubbed Red Magic 7 and Red Magic 7 Pro. We expect to know more details about these devices in the coming days.
