Unihertz has officially announced the Titan 2, a new smartphone that brings the nostalgia of physical keyboards into the modern Android era. The company has also kicked off a Kickstarter campaign for the device. The Titan 2 is the fourth model in the Titan series, following the original Titan (2019), the compact Titan Pocket (2021), and the slimmer Titan Slim (2022). Unihertz Titan 2 specifications and features

The Titan 2 features a 4.5-inch square primary display with a resolution of 1440 x 1440 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. Below the main screen sits a physical QWERTY keyboard, redesigned for better tactile feedback. It supports swipe gestures and shortcut assignments for every key. Running on Android 15, the Titan 2 also packs several utility features including dual SIM support, NFC, Bluetooth 5.4, an infrared port, Wi-Fi 6, dual-band GPS, FM radio, and a fingerprint sensor. The device is built for durability, weighing 235 grams and measuring just 10.8mm thick — a significant reduction from its predecessor.

Unihertz Titan 2 price and availability

The Unihertz Titan 2 is now available for pre-order via a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign. Early backers can reserve a unit for $269, while the full retail price is expected to be around $399. Shipments are slated to begin in October 2025. Unihertz, a Chinese company known for its niche smartphones launched a rugged phone in November. Officially called Unihertz Tank 3, the product is available globally for months.

After a long while, the device is now finally on sale in China. Surprisingly, the handset is costlier in its home country, which is very rare.

The Unihertz Tank 3 arrives in a single 16GB + 512GB memory configuration. The product carries a global price tag of $499.99.

While in China, it is more expensive at ¥4,699 ($650), Usually, phones from Chinese brands are more affordable in their home nation. So it is bizarre to learn the pricing of this device.

As for specs, the handset is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 chip and boots Android 13. It houses a whopping 23,800mAh battery that supports 120W wired charging.

Sugar Cubes Jelly has converted a unit of the Unihertz Jelly Star smartphone into a handheld game console. The Unihertz Jelly Star features a 3-inch display with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. Its compact properties, together with its Android 13 OS architecture have aided Sugar Cubes Jelly in the transformation of the smartphone to a compact gaming handheld.

The Unihertz Jelly Star is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99 processor with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. It comes with a 2,000mAh battery and is priced at $210. The smartphone was promoted by its manufacturer as the world’s smallest Android 13 smartphone. The specs of the Jelly Star make it more powerful than several of the existing handheld game consoles. This fact may have motivated developers at Sugar Cubes Jelly to construct a set of controllers/ cases that essentially transforms the compact smartphone into a tiny game console. When the smartphone is slid into the upcoming Sugar Cubes Jelly case, the user is offered a new way to use the smartphone as a game console. The built-in controllers and buttons include a D-Pad, analog stick, shoulder triggers, and action buttons.

There will be two versions of the Sugar Cubes Jelly case for the Unihertz Jelly Star – a horizontal version that places the controllers below the display and a vertical model that puts the display at the center while the controllers are at the left and right sides. The installation of the Jelly Star into the Sugar Cubes Jelly case will be a simple process of just sliding it in with the horizontal version. However, a disassembly of the smartphone could be required in the installation of the vertical case model. The cases are reportedly made from metal and could come in several color options.

There are still some details lacking for the new Sugar Cubes Jelly cases for the Unihertz Jelly Star smartphone. The company has neither released any price nor the exact release date for the cases.

However, the Chinese company Unihertz, which is known to take the compact form factor to the extreme, has come up with a 3-inch display smartphone called the Jelly 2E.

The Jelly 2E is the successor of the Jelly 2, which launched back in 2020. The Jelly 2E takes its predecessor’s design and modifies it somewhat. Particularly, Unihertz has upgraded from Android 11 to Android 12, which is a great change. Unfortunately, the firm has removed NFC support and switched from 6 GB to 4 GB of RAM. The 128 GB of capacity in the Jelly 2 has also been reduced by 64 GB by Unihertz this time. Nevertheless, the Jelly 2E features a dual-SIM connection, a 3-inch display, and is 110 grams in weight. Like its twin, the Jelly 2E also boasts a 2,000 mAh battery.

Additionally, Unihertz added a MediaTek Helio A22, a budget chipset with four CPU cores and a PowerVR GE8320 GPU built using a 16-nm manufacturing process, to the Jelly 2E. Unfortunately, the MediaTek Helio A22 in the Jelly 2 performs about half as well as the Helio P60. Currently, if individuals register before November 7th, Unihertz will give them a US$20 discount. According to rumors, the Jelly 2E will cost US$170 upfront, before any discounts.

Unihertz has launched a new Kickstarter project — Titan Pocket which is the smallest QWERTY smartphone running the Android 11 operating system. This is the sixth device from the company which had previously launched Jelly, Atom, Titan, Atom XL, and Jelly2.

The campaign aims to raise $50,005 but at the time of writing this, it has successfully reached the goal. With still 30 days to go, the campaign has raised more than $520,900 from 2,310 backers.

The smartphone is an upgraded version of its predecessor, named Titan. The company says that it is now 30 percent smaller, lighter, and comes with the latest Android 11 operating system. Apart from the size, it is globally unlocked, equipped with a fingerprint sensor, IR blaster, GPS, and more features.

The phone, which is made of aluminum alloy material, features a 3.1-inch display with 716 x 720 pixels screen resolution. The device is powered by a 4,000mAh battery which the company claims can last for days on a single charge.

The keyboard on the device supports several languages, including English (US, UK), German (QWERTZ, QWERTY), French (AZERTY, QWERTY), Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch, Russian, Russian (TRANSLIT), Japanese, Simplified Chinese (Pinyin), and Traditional Chinese (Phonetic, Cangjie, Quick Input).

Further, the company adds that the Titan Pocket is though and drop-resistant but note that the device isn’t water-resistant. As for the camera, there’s a 16-megapixel camera sensor on the back and an 8-megapixel snapper up front for taking selfies and video calling.

For connectivity, the dual hybrid SIM supporting device comes with support for global LTE bands, compatible with most international and local carriers. This should offer great flexibility and is useful for business travelers and tourists, says the company.

Unihertz Atom is definitely one of the most innovative phones released in 2018 from an underground smartphone manufacturer. We took inspiration from one of the most famous Clint Eastwood’s movies by calling it “million dollar rugged phone” because, thanks to its unique features, the Shanghai-based company managed to collect more than $1 million in crowdfunding on the Kickstarter campaign well before its official launch. Design and build quality

Just like every rugged phone out there, Unihertz Atom does not do well in the looks department but its size and its build quality would surprise everyone. It measures only 97 x 45 x 18 mm, it weighs just 108 grams (but it will feel a bit heavy compared to its size) and, as said above, it is the smallest 4G rugged phone ever launched. This is a very important feature as people who look for a rugged phone to bring in the toughest environments usually desire a small-sized and not bulky handset.

It fits in every pocket and you can easily use it with just one hand thanks to its dimensions. Besides being incredibly small, this phone is very solid and resistant, and not only because of its very small size. It has a very sturdy build with a solid and rubberized black body and red highlights here and there. It is also IP68 certified, so you can forget worrying about dust and water. Further, it is protected against shock, vibrations and extreme temperatures. On the front side, it features a front camera, a notification LED and two capacitive keys to go back and access the multitasking menu, as well as a third one which doubles as a fingerprint reader.

The fingerprint reader does take a few seconds to react, but we found it to be accurate. On the right side, there is the power key, a push-to-talk button which opens the preinstalled app Zello, and a USB-C port which supports the OTG technology to connect external peripherals. The left side houses volume keys and a dual SIM tray (both the slots support nano-SIM cards and are 4G-enabled). The 3.5 mm audio jack (yay) is placed on the upper part of the phone, while the mono speaker is placed on the back (boo).

Display

As Unihertz Atom is the smallest rugged phone, it also has the smallest display. It has a diagonal of 2.45 inches, a resolution of 240 x 432 pixels and it is protected by Gorilla Glass (there is also a free screen protector in the box in case you do not trust Corning’s protection). The display is definitely the only real weak point of this device.

The detail is not so high, even though it is not so noticeable given the size, and viewing angles are not very wide. On the other hand, its brightness is satisfying. If you have big fingers or a poor eyesight you will find it difficult to use, but if you do not have these problems, thanks to the good brightness and a great touchscreen, you should not have issues (except for the QWERTY keyboard, you will have to get used to it or just set the old school 3×4 keyboard in the settings).

Hardware & performance

Under the hood, the Unihertz Atom has a midrange hardware side which is all but disappointing. It provides really nice performance in every scenario and given that with that display size you will surely not push multitasking to the extreme, the overall performance is smooth. It is equipped with an octa-core MediaTek Helio P20 which does its job greatly, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage not expandable. In our tests, it ran Asphalt 9 with a good and stable frame rate too!

Software

On the software side, Unihertz Atom has a stock version of Android 8.1 Oreo with no customizations, Google services included, and just a few preinstalled apps which could be useful in extreme environments in which rugged phones are usually popular. The system is smooth and apps open fastly. Right after turning it on, we got a notification with a software update containing fixes and improvements.

Camera

If there is ample lighting, the Unihertz Atom is able to click well-detailed outdoor photos which can surprise you for both detail and color reproduction (colors are just slightly washed out under direct sunlight, but HDR can adjust things). But forget shooting good photos in low-light conditions. It has a more than sufficient rear camera with a 16 MP resolution, but nothing very special. But it is enough for a small rugged phone sold at a reasonable price. The front camera is an average 8 MP sensor.

Battery

Despite its small 2000 mAh unit, we expected a bit more from the battery because of a small display with a below-average resolution which we expected to have a low energy consumption. But it’s not exactly the case here. Rugged phones are expected to have large batteries, but this ones an exception. Because of its size and hence the limited battery capacity on board, you cannot achieve a lot more than 4h of screen time under normal and constant use.

Unihertz Atom is currently up for pre-orders on the official store which can be accessed at Unihertz.com. You can currently grab a unit for just $249.99 ($10 of discount for a limited time) which is definitely a great price for a unique device like this. The Unihertz Atom will start shipping in December. Overall, this device turns out to be a nice deal.

At an affordable price, you can grab a unit of a very sturdy and versatile device with very satisfying performance, water-resistance, a decent camera, and even NFC support. The small display and battery are the only compromises which should worry you if you do not like a device with a poor viewing experience going out of charge under 1.5 days.

These days there are plenty of large-sized Android smartphones that come with huge displays. The Kickstarter project for this Jelly phone has started from today

Unihertz, a company based in Shanghai is manufacturing the Jelly phone. It is a perfect that can be used an environment where using a large-sized smartphone is not convenient. Its claims that it is so small that it can easily fit even in a coin pocket. It comes in two models, the Jelly and the Jelly Pro.

The Jelly and Jelly Pro smartphones have a 2.45-inch TFT screen that offers a resolution of 240 x 432 pixels. They feature a quad-core processor under its hood that works at 1.1 GHz. However, the manufacturer of the processor for the Jelly phones have not been disclosed yet. Both phones are packed with 950 mAh battery

The Jelly and Jelly Pro phones are 4G LTE enabled handsets that support two nano SIM cards. It is good to see that these miniature smartphones are running on the latest version of Android. Their rear camera is of 8-megapixel and the front-facing shooter is of 2-megapixel.

What sets that the Jelly phone from Jelly Pro? The former is a base model that features 8 GB of storage of 1 GB of RAM. On the other side, the Jelly Pro has 2 GB of RAM and its native storage is 16 GB.
