Vivo Pad 3 specs leaked, an 8.8-inch iQOO-branded tablet reportedly in the works

Vivo is reportedly working on a new top end tablet model. The device in question is expected to be the Vivo Pad 3 and some of its key specs have just been leaked. But it seems like this isn’t the only tablet that the company is planning on launching soon. So here are all the details.

Vivo Pad 3 Specs

The latest leak was shared by known tipster Digital Chat Station. He claimed that the upcoming tablet from the Chinese tech giant is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC, which is a flagship grade processor. This is in line with our previous report from last month. DCS further added that the tablet will sport a tall screen that will feature rounded corners on every corner.

Apart from this, the device is expected to feature improved performance and fast charging compared to its predecessor. This is not the only tablet that the company is rumored to be working on. Vivo is apparently also planning on launching a new tablet from its iQOO sub brand. While the name of this device wasn’t revealed, the tipster claims that it will sport a large 8.8-inch display.

Earlier this week, we also covered another report that hints that the Vivo Pad 3 will be announced along with the Vivo X Fold 3. Based on what we know so far, the two devices are rumored to debut in the first quarter of next year. Unfortunately, this is all the information we have at the moment so stick around for more as we will be providing updates when additional details are available regarding the Pad 3.

This year, Microsoft announced the Surface Laptop Studio 2, Laptop Go 3, and Surface Go 4 a few months ago.

The report claims that Microsoft is planning to market the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 as its ‘first true-gen AI PCs’. Both machines will be offered in Intel and ARM variants in the form of Intel’s 14th-generation Meteor Lake chip and Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite. Both processors have a dedicated neural processing chip.

The next-generation ARM-based devices are called CADMUS PCs internally by Microsoft. They are also said to be built for the next version of Windows codenamed ‘Hudson Valley’. The publication states that the company is touting these devices to compete against the 13th Gen Intel CPUs and even Apple’s M2.

Apart from the hardware changes, there are also said to be more upgrades in tow for the Surface Pro 10 and Laptop 6. The Surface Laptop 6 will feature an updated design with thinner bezels, rounded display corners, and more ports. Microsoft will also reportedly add a dedicated Co-Pilot button on the keyboard and a haptic touchpad. Meanwhile, the Surface Pro 10 is said to come with a brighter display with rounded corners and support for HDR content. There will be a new anti-reflective coating to reduce glares. The Redmond-based tech giant is planning to announce the Surface Pro 10 in two variants – the base with lower resolution and top-tier models with larger display resolution. I tried Rokid Max AR Glasses in India

AR (Augmented Reality) is pegged as the next big thing in the consumer tech space. Although we have been hearing this for a long while, the tech has still not caught up to the level of its hype.

Microsoft was the first major company to introduce an AR headset (HoloLens). However, it is primarily sold to enterprises rather than end consumers.

AR in the consumer space is anticipated to get a boost with the release of Apple Vision Pro in the coming months. Though the product seems impressive, it is out of reach for most people and has some serious issues.

This is where companies like Xreal (formerly Nreal) and Rokid come into play. They have been selling affordable AR glasses for quite a while now.

These products are not as grandeur as Apple’s Vision Pro and Microsoft’s HoloLens 2.  But they allow people to experience augmented reality at a much affordable price.

Both these Chinese brands launched their newest offerings this year — Rokid Max and Xreal Air 2 series.

Our Chinese team reviewed the Rokid Max when it was announced initially. These glasses have now reached the Indian shores through Aytexcel Pvt Ltd.

Having used the Rokid Max for the last few days in India, here’s what I think about it.

My experience with Rokid Max in India

1. Build Quality

Rokid Max AR Glasses

The body of the Rokid Max AR glasses is entirely made of good-quality plastic. It feels sturdy and can withstand drops.

It comes in a dark blue color which the company officially calls ‘Space Blue.’ Thanks to its lightness (75g), it is pleasant to wear for longer sessions.

The temples are quite flexible, and therefore the glasses can be worn by people with varying sizes of heads. However, the hinges could have been tighter.

It is easy to keep the glasses’ body free of smudges due to its matte finish. The volume and brightness buttons are tactile and the USB Type-C port is cleverly placed at the end of a temple tip.

The diopter adjustment knobs are placed above each lens. Whereas, the directional speakers are placed below the temples on either side. Lastly, the glasses use rubber nose pads that are comfortable.

2. Viewing Experience

Rokid Max AR Glasses

The Rokid Max features micro OLED displays for each eye. These screens offer a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (FHD), a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 600 nits peak brightness level.

Together the two panels output a 215-inch screen. The displays are complemented by two directional speakers on either temple of the glasses.

Just like it sounds, the Rokid Max is a personal giant screen that fits in your pocket. You can use it anywhere if you don’t mind looking goofy with giant glasses on.

The display output is sharp and gets plenty bright. You can get a full theatre experience by using the glasses in a dark environment or with the blackout cover.

The built-in speakers are surprisingly good. But I would recommend a good pair of earphones for an immersive experience.

I mostly used the product to watch movies and YouTube in my bed before going to sleep. I even tried it inside a car on a road trip. It was fine during the early hours when the sun was about to come out. But after that, I had to rely on the blackout cover.

The glasses offer support for 360 and 3D videos. However, the implementation is poor as the field of view is limited to 50°. The content is pixelated and misaligned.

3. Accessories

Rokid Max AR Glasses

The Rokid Max ships with a USB C to C cable, an extra pair of nose pads, and a very good-quality carrying case.

Apart from the in-box content, buyers can opt for an optional accessory called  ‘Rokid Station’, which is a portable Android TV streaming device.

This device is also sold as a bundle alongside the glasses as ‘Rokid AR Joy’, and unfortunately that’s the only option available in India. You cannot buy the AR glasses separately.

Also, none of the other Rokid accessories are sold officially in India. These include the Rokid Hub, HDMI to USB-C adapter, anti-slip strap, lens inserts, and USB Type-C cable.

Thus, you will have to either import them or rely on alternatives that may or may not be compatible, especially adapters and cables, as per user reviews on Reddit.

4. Accessibility

Rokid Max AR Glasses

The best thing about Rokid Max is the inclusion of diopter adjustment dials (0.00D to -6.00D). Therefore, myopic users like me can enjoy the product without any issues.

Further, the volume and brightness keys are conveniently placed below the right temple. Similarly, the USB Type-C port at the end of the left temple allows the cable to run behind the ear.

You get two different-sized nose pads so that the glasses can sit on the faces of more people. The temples are also quite flexible to accommodate different-sized heads.

However, in India, compatibility is an issue. Most smartphones sold in the country cannot be used with the glasses as they lack the USB 3 port for video out.

Generally, the glasses are only compatible with Samsung Galaxy S, Galaxy Z, and Galaxy Tab S  series phones/tablets in India, in addition to select devices from other brands. They can be also used with the iPhone 15 lineup, thanks to the inclusion of a USB Type-C port.

But the Rokid AR app is only available on Android. Hence, I used the glasses mostly with a Xiaomi Pad 6 apart from an iPhone 15. I didn’t feel like working with them so did not use them much with a Windows laptop (Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Carbon).

I would have used it with my Xbox Series S for gaming if I had access to a compatible adapter.

5. Pricing

Rokid Max AR Glasses

The Rokid Max is an affordable way to experience AR (Augmented Reality). Unfortunately, this statement does not apply to the product in India.

Globally, the glasses alone cost only $399 (~₹33,175) without offers, while the bundle with the streaming device retails at $499 (~₹41,490).

However, in India, the glasses are not sold separately. It only comes in the aforementioned bundle called Rokid AR Joy Pack priced at a whopping ₹89,999 (~$1,080).

The product is really good at its original price. But at more than double the price in India, it’s hard to recommend here in the country and you don’t get access to official accessories.

Sadly, there are no other alternatives either as it is the only such product in India. On a positive note, at least people who can afford can get a pair of AR glasses in India.

Vivo Y28 5G leak reveals design and price in India

Vivo’s Y27 5G smartphone saw its Indian debut back in July 2023. The company may now be gearing up to launch its successor in India, the Vivo Y28 5G, if a new leak by Appauls is to be believed. It suggests the phone might arrive in India soon, and also reveals the design and potential price of Vivo Y28 5G.

Vivo Y28 5G render, price

As you can see, the smartphone has been leaked in what looks like a marketing material of the phone. The image throws light on some potential launch offers, including an instant discount of Rs 1,500 and easy EMI options starting at Rs 31 per day.

Vivo Y28 5G Price in India

While mum on the specs, the report also reveals the expected price for the Y28 5G. The base variant with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage could land at Rs 13,999, while the 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB models might come in at Rs 15,499 and Rs 16,999 respectively. Additionally, bank discounts could shave off 2.7% from the price tag.

The leaked image also showcases the phone in two vibrant hues: Crystal Purple and Glitter Aqua. It also hints at a dual-camera setup on the back, arranged vertically. The power button and volume rockers appear on the right side of the device.

The Vivo Y28 5G also recently nabbed BIS and Bluetooth SIG certifications. Rumors speculate that the phone might be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ chipset, built on a 6nm process. This chip could be paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Likewise, the device is said to have a 50MP primary camera and a 5000mAh battery.

Although Vivo hasn’t officially confirmed the launch date, the leaked information and certifications suggest Vivo Y28 5G’s arrival is near.

Following improved software support and bloatware-free software promise, Honor Tech is set to broaden its brochure of smart devices in 2024, after a brand soft relaunch in 2023.

There were rumors about the launch of a foldable smartphone by HTech by the end of this year, but it seems a temporary pause has been taken to prepare for the next year. However, the Honor X9b has hit BIS India, and as expected, the Honor Choice Earbuds X5 will launch “early next year.”

HTech Plan for India in 2024

“We understand the IoT market in India is competitive and consumers expect cutting-edge technology and reliability in connected devices. HONOR maintains a strong focus on product quality and innovation across its range of products,” said the company.

Honor is bidding to actively bring collective experience with connected devices, aka Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT) products. The company has delved into fostering collaborations to actively enhance the user experience and bring better-designed products. The brand promises to bring a well-connected experience for its users by launching new “hearables, wearables, and other IOT devices.

Overall, the diverse product portfolio will surely leverage Honor Tech’s market share in the Indian market. They also have plans to start product manufacturing under the Government of India’s Make in India Initiative.

“HTech is also providing strong customer support and after-sales service with a network of 400 centers across the country,” the company informed.

They are also improving the logistics by improving the end-to-end supply chain, which will benefit the locals with employment opportunities. To offer better support across the country, there will be around 400 service centers, which will keep customers free of any hassle if Honor Tech product gets damaged.

Honor X50 Pro quietly launched in China with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, 5800mAh battery

While prepping for the Magic 6 series launch, Honor quietly launched the X50 Pro smartphone in China today. This low-key release could be because Honor is targeting the X50 Pro as an offline-focused device, meaning it’ll be primarily sold in physical stores.

However, rumors have it that the X50 Pro may launch as the Honor X50 GT, which could be targeted for online sales. Honor confirmed the X50 GT’s China launch on January 6th, equipped with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, matching the X50 Pro. So a potential rebranding could be on the cards.

Anyway, the smartphone comes in two shades — Green and Black — and in a single 12/256GB variant for 2,799 Yuan (approximately $425).

Honor X50 Pro Specifications

TheX50 Pro features a 6.78-inch curved OLED display with 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. This is also a 10-bit screen, supports 1920Hz PWM dimming, and has an in-display fingerprint scanner for biometrics.

The circular camera module on the back houses a 108MP main sensor and a 2MP macro lens. For selfies, there is an 8MP front-facing camera. The phone is also slim at an 8.45mm profile and weighs 192g.

Reportedly, Honor is using an underclocked version of the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC on the device. There’s also a 5100 mm2 vapor cooling system to keep the phone’s thermals under control. It boots on Magic OS 7.2 based on Android 13.

Keeping the lights on is a 5800mAh battery with support for 35W charging. Other specifications of the device include support for NFC, Bluetooth 5.2, and a USB Type-C port.

Redmi K70 Ultra key specs leaked ahead of launch

Xiaomi is reportedly planning on launching a new smartphone from its Redmi K70 lineup. The company recently unveiled the Redmi K70, K70 Pro, and K70e in China, and it appears that a Redmi K70 Ultra model is also in the works. So here are all the details.

Redmi K70 Ultra Specs

Redmi K70 Ultra

The latest information arrives from known tipster Digital Chat Station who shared the information on Weibo (a Chinese microblogging website). The tipster claims that the upcoming K70 Ultra model will be equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC. For those unaware, this is a flagship grade processor, which hints that the Ultra is a high end device. DCS added that this model will also come with improvements over its sibling K70 and K70 Pro models.

While this isn’t confirmed, the smartphone could offer improved photography or faster charging rates. Furthermore, it was also revealed that the smartphone may sport an 8T OLED display that is surrounded by thin bezels on all four sides. Although, the leakster was unclear about the resolution, which could be either a 1.5K or 2K display. With the Dimensity 9300, Digital Chat Station believes that the Chinese tech giant will be able to offer a great cost to performance ratio.

If this is true then we can expect the Redmi K70 Ultra to be the direct successor to the K60 Ultra. To recall, the Redmi K60 Ultra was a Chinese exclusive model but a slightly refreshed and rebranded Xiaomi 13T Pro was announced in its stead in the global market. So this may also hint at a Xiaomi 14T Pro as well. Keep in mind that this still just speculation at the moment so take this report with a pinch of salt.
