Tecno Spark 20 Pro+ unveiled with Helio G99 Ultimate, Apple’s Dynamic Island-like feature

On the back, the phone houses a triple camera setup led by a 108MP main sensor, although details for other sensors haven’t been revealed yet. There’s a dual LED flash accompanying the camera.

The Spark 20 Pro+ will be available in four unique colorways: Temporal Orbits, Lunar Frost, Radiant Starstream, and Magic Skin 2.0 Green (with a faux leather back). While pricing remains unconfirmed, it’s expected to be competitive within its category.

Microsoft Copilot App Features on iPhone

Comparable in functionality to OpenAI’s ChatGPT smartphone app, the Copilot app grants iOS users access to Microsoft Copilot (previously known as Bing Chat). It enables users to effortlessly compose emails, make inquiries, and summarize text, making it a versatile tool for AI assistance. A notable feature of the app is its integration with the text-to-image generator DALL-E3, which empowers users to generate images within the app. The app recently got support to create AI music using Suno.

Copilot brings a significant advantage over other AI messengers as it provides free access to GPT-4. It is the latest large-language model from OpenAI. This is a notable step forward compared to the free version of ChatGPT, which runs on GPT-3.5. The utilization of GPT-4 enhances the app’s capabilities and responsiveness. In a strategic move, Microsoft has rebranded Bing Chat to Copilot, aligning with its goal of offering a standalone experience similar to ChatGPT. This rebranding signifies a shift in focus and a commitment to providing users with a unique and dedicated interaction platform.

In addition to the mobile app, Microsoft has introduced a separate web experience for Copilot, further distinguishing it from Bing and emphasizing its standalone nature.

The Copilot app is now available for download on the Apple App Store for iOS and iPadOS users, marking a significant milestone in Microsoft’s efforts to deliver advanced AI solutions across various platforms. Users can now experience the power of Copilot’s AI assistance, text-to-image integration, and the enhanced capabilities of GPT-4 directly on their iOS devices.

The device is equipped with dual chips, including a Qualcomm aptX chip for superior audio quality and an amplifier chip for an increased sound energy and volume. The result? JD.com Wins Massive $141 Million Lawsuit Against Alibaba

Recently, JD.com, a major player in the Chinese e-commerce market, achieved a significant legal victory over its rival Alibaba. A court in Beijing ruled in favor of JD.com, ordering Alibaba to pay a hefty sum of $141 million for engaging in unfair market practices. This decision marks a pivotal moment in the fiercely competitive world of online retail in China.

Alibaba has been pressuring its online merchants recently

For years, Alibaba had been pressuring online merchants to choose exclusively between its platform and others – a practice known as “picking one from two”. This tactic, while common, was deemed monopolistic and harmful to competition. The ruling against Alibaba is a clear message that such practices will no longer be tolerated.

JD.com

JD.com welcomed the court’s decision, viewing it as a win for fair competition. They argue that practices like Alibaba’s not only harm competitors but also limit choices for brands, merchants, and consumers. The verdict could pave the way for a more level playing field in the e-commerce sector, encouraging healthier competition and innovation.

This case is part of a broader movement in China to regulate monopolistic behaviors in the tech industry. In 2021, Alibaba faced a record fine for similar practices, signaling the government’s commitment to reining in the power of tech giants.

Interestingly, both JD.com and Alibaba recently introduced a “refund only” policy, a strategy to enhance consumer trust and satisfaction. This policy, first implemented by Pinduoduo, another e-commerce contender, allows consumers to keep purchased goods even if they file a complaint. Such moves suggest that the e-commerce giants are not just competing on price and product range but also on customer service and trust.

Oppo Reno 11 series global launch date leaked, Reno 11 to feature a Dimensity 1080 SoC

Oppo is gearing up to unveil its Reno 11 series smartphones in the global market. The brand recently unveiled the pre-booking details for the Malaysian market. Now, tipster Ishan Agarwal has leaked the Indian and global launch dates, along with some key details about the Reno 11 series.

Oppo Reno 11 and 11 Pro global models
Oppo Reno 11 (left) and Reno 11 Pro (right)

According to Ishan, the Oppo Reno 11 series is set to launch in India and the global market on January 11. However, there is a potential disappointment with the Reno 11 as it is reported to be equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chip. The Chinese version, in contrast, features the more advanced Dimensity 8200 chip, which outperforms the Dimensity 1080 significantly in both CPU and GPU applications. The camera bump will also be different, while the fast charging will 67W. This represents a substantial downgrade for the global variant of the Reno 11.

On the other hand, Ishan mentions that the Reno 11 Pro could have either a Dimensity 8200 or Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip, and both will come with fast 80W charging. Both phones will have a 32MP telephoto camera and will run on Android 14 from the get-go. Oppo might likely sell the Chinese Reno 11 as the global Reno 11 Pro, but if that’s not the case, here are the specs and features of both the Chinese versions.

Oppo Reno 11/ Reno 11 Pro (China models) specs:

The Oppo Reno 11 Pro boasts a sleek 6.74-inch curved OLED display with a vibrant 2772 x 1240 pixel resolution, 450 PPI, and an impressive 120Hz refresh rate. It offers HDR10+ support, 10-bit color depth, and 1600-nits peak brightness.

Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip, LPDDR5x RAM, and UFS 3.1 storage, it runs on the latest ColorOS 14 based on Android 14. The smartphone introduces a triple-camera system, featuring a 50MP Sony IMX890 primary sensor with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 32MP 2x telephoto snapper. The front-facing 32MP selfie camera matches the zoom camera sensor. With a 4,700mAh battery and 80W SuperVOOC charging.

On the other hand, the Oppo Reno 11 features a 6.7-inch curved OLED display with FHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and a 10-bit HDR10+ panel. Powered by MediaTek Dimensity 8200, it includes LPDDR5x RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, and runs on ColorOS 14 based on Android 14. Google Reaches Preliminary Settlement in Incognito Mode Lawsuit

Google has reached a preliminary settlement in a class-action lawsuit filed in 2020 over its Chrome browser’s Incognito mode. The lawsuit, originating in the Northern District of California, accused Google of secretly “tracking, collecting, and identifying users’ browsing data in real-time” even when using Incognito mode.

Google Chrome Performance Panel

Led by Florida resident William Byatt and Californians Chasom Brown and Maria Nguyen, the legal action alleged Google’s violation of wiretap laws. It claimed that websites using Google Analytics or Ad Manager gathered information from browsers in Incognito mode, including web page content, device data, and IP addresses. The lawsuit also accused Google of linking users’ private browsing activity with their existing profiles.

Chrome Incognito

Google’s initial attempt to dismiss the lawsuit, based on the warning displayed when activating Incognito mode, was rejected by Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers in August. The judge highlighted that Google had not explicitly informed users about continued data collection during private browsing.

Following negotiations, Google and the plaintiffs have agreed to terms that will lead to the dismissal of the litigation. The finalized agreement is expected to be presented to the court by the end of January, with court approval anticipated by the end of February.

This development halts a scheduled February 5, 2024 trial. The lawsuit, seeking at least $5 billion in damages, claimed that Google’s analytics, cookies, and apps allowed tracking even when users believed they were browsing privately. The settlement terms remain undisclosed, pending court approval by February 24, 2024.

Bajaj Vector electric scooter is possibly under development, recent trademark filings indicate

Recent trademark filings are pointing to a possible electric scooter offering by two-wheel giant, Bajaj. The Indian company has continued to enjoy global recognition and success since its partnership with KTM in 2007. Bajaj’s global presence is underscored by the KTM 390 and Husqvarna 401. Bajaj has also been entrusted with developing an electric scooter platform called the Husqvarna Vektorr.

Bajaj

A recent Bajaj trademark filing bearing the “Vector” name has been spotted by motorcycle website, BikeWale. This was further confirmed with the Bajaj Vector appearing on a search on India’s IP online service. The trademark appeared under Class 12 for Automobiles, Land Vehicles, Motorcycles, and Electric Vehicles. The trademark application was filed on August 16, 2023. Sources close to Bajaj have hinted that the Vector is a new electric scooter. It is however unclear whether the Vector is the same as the Husqvarna Vektorr now renamed with the Bajaj moniker.

The Bajaj Vector, if it eventually becomes a reality, will join the Bajaj Chetak, an electric scooter that has been in the market for a while. Expectedly, the Vector will offer more premium features than the Chetak and will elevate the status of Bajaj as a player in the EV two-wheeler market in India. There are already established brands in the Indian EV two-wheeler market such as Ola Electric and Ather but the launch of a new Bajaj offering could change the market outlook.

Bajaj

It seems Bajaj is positioning itself to tap from the growing demand for lightweight electric motorcycles in India, as well as parts of Europe and Asia. Several traditional manufacturers are incorporating EV two-wheelers into their business model. A prototype of the upcoming Bajaj e-scooter has been spotted on multiple occasions undergoing testing. It is however not certain whether the Vector is the next Bajaj e-scooter offering or if the company is just trying to safeguard the name for future use.
