Entire Apple iPhone 16 series to feature the A18 SoC, hints leaked iOS 18 codes

A new report has revealed an interesting detail regarding the 2025 iPhone lineup. Apple is apparently planning on launching the iPhone 16 series with the A18 chipset. The news arrives from leaked iOS 18 codes, so here are all the details.

iPhone 16 lineup to arrive with the A18 SoC

Notably, this report is in line with one of our earlier reports from back in October and was based on a leak from known analyst Jeff Pu. Now, the latest information arrives from leaked iOS 18 codes that were first spotted by Mac Rumors. The report cited sources that spotted details on the iOS 18 source code that details four unreleased iPhones. These are listed as D47, D48, D93, and D94, which likely refer to the iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro, and 16 Pro Max, respectively.

It seems that the Cupertino based giant will be using the same chip for the entire lineup. This is in contrast to its recent launches where the base and Plus models feature improved last gen processors while the Pro series come with the latest generation SoC. While the iOS source code leaks did not officially reveal the name of the said processor, it is listed as the t8140 system for all four iPhone 16 models.

Similarly, we recently covered render leaks for the iPhone 16 as well as a separate report that claims that all iPhone 16 will be equipped with upgraded mic with integrated AI features. All four iPhone 16 models may also come with an Action Button, while the Pro models is rumored to offer a Tetraprism 5x zoom camera. The next gen iPhones are expected to house graphene cooling for improved thermals as well. This is all the information we have at the moment, so stick around for more updates.

Apple Vision Pro launch could be set for February 2024

The Apple Vision Pro was first announced earlier this year, but there has been no official word regarding its availability. Now, a new report has hinted at the launch timeline for the company’s mixed reality headset.

Apple Vision Pro may launch in Feb 2024

During the official announcement at WWDC23, the Cupertino based giant only revealed the pricing for the headset and not its availability. But known analyst Mark Gurman has revealed the launch timeframe for the wearable in his latest Power On newsletter. Previously, Gurman had claimed that the mixed reality headset’s roll out was delayed to March 2024. But in the latest report, he stated that the release could be arriving a month sooner.

The known analyst states that the Vision Pro could be arriving in February as the company has begun raising overseas production. Reportedly, Apple has production of the headset running at full capacity from its facilities in China. These manufacturing sites are working to achieve the goal of making the Vision Pro ready for shipping by the end of January 2024. On the software front, Gurman adds that the company has sent an email not to developers that have urged them to “get ready” for the Vision Pro by testing their apps with the latest tools.

Apart from this, Apple also seems to be sending two employees to each of its retail stores to its headquarters next month for training. Here, the employees will learn the functions and highlights of the Apple Vision Pro to be better capable of marketing the product for sales. Keep in mind that this is still just an unconfirmed report, so take this news with a pinch of salt and stick around for more updates.

Baseus unveils 7-in-1 65W GaN power strip with AC outlets in China

Baseus, a Chinese electronics manufacturer, has released a new power strip that combines GaN technology with traditional AC outlets. This seven-in-one device, currently available on JD.com for 179 yuan (approximately $25 USD), could streamline your charging needs.

Baseus 7-in-1 65W GaN power strip specifications

The key feature of the Baseus power strip is its integration of three AC outlets alongside two USB-C and two USB-A ports. This hybrid design allows users to charge laptops, printers, and other AC-powered devices alongside smartphones, tablets, and other USB-powered gadgets.

This departure from the typical USB-only GaN chargers could appeal to users seeking a more versatile charging solution.

With a 65W capacity, the power strip boasts fast-charging capabilities for multiple devices simultaneously. However, it adapts its charging speed based on how many ports you’re using:

  • Single-port usage: When only one device is plugged into any of the Type-C1 ports, it gets the full 65W of power.
  • Double-port usage: When two ports are being used, the power is divided between them. The amount of power that each port receives depends on which ports are being used.

For example, when two devices are plugged in, the power is divided between them. If one device is plugged into a Type-C1 port and the other into the Type-C2 port, the Type-C1 port gets 45W and the Type-C2 port gets 20W. However, if Type-C1 and USB are being used, Type-C1 will receive 60W and USB will receive 5W.
  • Triple-port usage: When three ports are being used, the power is divided among them in a similar way to double-port usage. For example, if Type-C1, Type-C2, and USB 1 are being used, Type-C1 will receive 45W, Type-C2 will receive 15W, and USB 1 will receive 5W.

Besides this, the charging strip also features built-in safeguards like lightning protection, surge protection, and short-circuit prevention, offering peace of mind for users.

There’s also a touch-sensitive “breathing light switch” that adds a visual element and displays the power status. The power strip also supports up to 2500W of common household equipment, making it a versatile option for various use cases.

Xiaomi India sells over 3,00,000 units of Redmi 13C series phones during the first sale

Xiaomi launched the Redmi 13C series in India earlier this month. The lineup includes two devices, a 4G model and a 5G variant

Both these phones went on sale for the first time last week. Following that, the company has today announced the number of units it sold.

Redmi 13C 5G

Redmi 13C series’ first sale record ties with Redmi 12 series

According to Xiaomi India, it sold over 3,00,000 units of Redmi 13C series smartphones on their initial days of sale. The company claims ‘internal data’ as the source and doesn’t specify separate numbers for the two variants.

The Redmi 13C’s first sale took place on December 12 (Tuesday). It was later followed by the inaugural sale of Redmi 13C 5G on December 16 (Saturday). Both products were sold via Mi.com, Amazon India, and Xiaomi retail stores.

It is worth noting that even the Redmi 12 series reached the same amount of units sold on their initial days of sale. The Redmi 12 5G also became the highest-selling 5G smartphone on the first day of sale on Amazon India.

Within a month, the Redmi 12 series hit over a million units in sales as well. Only time will tell whether Xiaomi will be able to replicate the same with the Redmi 13C series.

In terms of specs, the Redmi 13C and Redmi 13C 5G are almost identical with a few differences. The 4G model comes with a MediaTek Helio G85 SoC, eMMC 5.1 storage, a 2MP macro snapper, and an 8MP selfie camera. Whereas, the 5G variant arrives with a MediaTek Dimensity 6100 Plus chip, UFS 2.2 storage, no useful secondary camera, and a 5MP front-facing camera.

Both handsets come with a 6.74-inch HD+ 90Hz display, Corning Gorilla Glass protection, a flat frame design, a 50MP primary camera,  a 3.5mm headphone jack, a MicroSD card slot, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, USB Type-C, a 5,000mAh battery, and 18W charging support.

China’s Huawei could announce IPO in 2024: Report

Huawei, the Chinese tech giant known for its smartphones and telecom equipment, may be preparing for an initial public offering (IPO), a move that contradicts its CEO’s past statements but could attract valuable investment capital.

CEO Ren Zhengfei has long asserted that the company wouldn’t go public, prioritizing bigger ideals of society. But a new report by Reuters suggests that this stance could change if China’s national interests are at stake, potentially paving the way for an IPO.

Huawei has faced significant challenges in recent years, particularly after being hit by US sanctions. However, the company has shown remarkable resilience, developing its own Kirin 9000s series chipsets and launching 5G smartphones despite the restrictions. It also recently announced the Qingyun L540 laptop powered by the Kirin 9006C, a 5nm chip, defying the U.S. sanctions again.

While these advancements are impressive, the impact of foreign restrictions on Huawei’s growth is undeniable. Its profit margin plummeted to 7% in 2022, resulting in a net profit of just $5.1 billion. However, with its strong brand and technological prowess, Huawei’s potential market valuation remains high.

Reuters reports that Huawei could be worth $128 billion, based on a similar price-to-earnings ratio as Apple. This figure may even be conservative, with some experts like Lenovo’s ex-chief technology officer, Ni Guangnan previously suggesting a valuation closer to $1.3 trillion.

Chinese investors could play a crucial role in propelling Huawei’s growth, similar to the success story of SMIC, a chipmaker delisted from the US but thriving after a Shanghai IPO. By raising capital through public markets, Huawei might be able to accelerate its development and regain lost ground in the global tech race.
Only time will tell if Huawei’s IPO plans materialize, but the possibility marks a significant shift for the company.

In related news, Huawei’s former subsidiary, Honor also announced its own IPO plans in November. The spin-off has thrived since being sold by Huawei in 2020 and is expanding its reach in the global market gradually.

Based on what we know so far, the Galaxy XCover 7 is basically a rebranded Galaxy A55 that features MIL-STD-810H standards for drop resistance and shock absorption. It is expected to offer an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. To recall, the Galaxy A55 5G is equipped with the MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ SoC that is paired with 6GB of RAM.

The device will likely run on Android 14 OS based One UI custom skin out of the box. The Bluetooth SIG certification confirmed support for Bluetooth 5.3 as well. Honor Magic 6 Pro leaks in real-life photo

Honor is introducing its 90 GT smartphone in China today, along with the Honor Pad 9. After this launch, the company is likely to shift its attention to the Honor Magic 6 series. Rumors suggest an early 2024 release in China, and as that date approaches, leaks regarding the possible features of the Magic 6 series continue emerging online.

A recent leak, shared by a Weibo user, showcases an alleged real-life image of what could be the Magic 6 Pro. The image reveals a triple-camera setup on the back, arranged in a triangle formation.

The top camera appears to be a periscope lens, judging by the “100x” zoom inscription beneath it. The Weibo user also provided a render offering a clearer view of the phone’s design.

Below the periscope lens, two other sensors likely reside, possibly a main and ultrawide lens. Previous rumors suggest a 1-inch Omnivision OV50K sensor for the main camera and a 160MP periscope telephoto lens. Furthermore, we can also expect a 3D Time-of-Flight (ToF) facial recognition housed within the front-facing pill-shaped cutout.

The Magic 6 Pro is also expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and may even feature satellite connectivity. Honor also recently filed a trademark for the latter.

Beyond the Pro model, the Magic 6 series is rumored to include a standard variant and a Porsche Design model. Although renders of the latter surfaced alongside the Pro a while ago, they seem inaccurate in light of the new leak showcasing a considerably different design for the Magic 6 Pro.

While an official launch date remains unconfirmed, January 2024 appears to be a potential timeframe for the Magic 6 series to debut. We’ll keep you updated on any additional leaks and official announcements for a clearer picture of what to expect.
