Apple iPhone 16 Pro may feature a 120mm Tetraprism telephoto camera

While the Apple iPhone 15 series was announced a couple of months ago, there are already various rumors and reports regarding the iPhone 16 lineup. Now, the latest report claims that the iPhone 16 Pro could feature a notable improvement in the photography department.

Apple iPhone 16 Pro could feature a Tetraprism 120mm camera

The Cupertino based giant is expected to bring a camera lens tech that was exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max model to the smaller iPhone 16 Pro. According to known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 16 Pro will also feature Apple’s tetraprism 120mm telephoto shooter. Kuo adds that the improved tetraprism camera is arriving thanks to improvements in yields for Largan, who is the sole supplier of the tetraprism camera lenses.

iPhone 16 Pro Snapdragon X75 modem

Initially, the periscope lens faced low production yield, but improvements have boosted yields to more than 70 percent. In other words, this camera lens production is more profitable. Thus, Kuo believes that Apple will feature tetraprism technology in the smaller Pro model as well in 2024. This is in line with our previous report that hinted at upgrades in camera technology thanks to adopted molded glass lenses.

The analyst states that Apple and Huawei are projected to be the two fastest growing brands in the global periscope camera smartphone shipments in 2024. Largan is expected to be the primary supplier of periscope lenses for Apple and Huawei. So we can expect the improved camera technology to make its way to the Huawei P70 series. For those unaware, Huawei’s P series are flagship devices that emphasize photography.

Garmin introduces Fenix 7 Pro Solar Edition (No Wi-Fi) series in North America

Garmin quietly launched two additions to its lineup earlier this month – the Fenix 7 Pro Solar Edition (No Wi-Fi) and the Fenix 7X Pro Solar Edition (No Wi-Fi). These smartwatches are now available in North America. Both the Fenix 7 Pro Solar Edition (No Wi-Fi) and the Fenix 7X Pro Solar Edition (No Wi-Fi) models come in a sleek Slate Gray with a Black Band, maintaining the aesthetic appeal of the standard versions.

A built-in flashlight with three different case sizes

The watches come in 3 different case sizes – 42mm, 47mm, and 51mm. Both of them offer built-in flashlights to help you in need. And the Fenix 7X Pro (No Wi-Fi) can even last up to 37 days on a single charge.

The Fenix 7 Pro and 7X Pro Solar Edition No Wi-Fi models are very similar to the Wi-Fi-enabled Garmin Fenix 7 Pro Series. That being said, the key difference between them lies in the absence of certain features, including the Outdoor Maps+ subscription-based map content, the ability to directly download TopoActive maps to the wearable, and the ability to stream music via apps like Spotify, Deezer, or Amazon Music.

Notably, the ECG app, which tracks signals related to heartbeats and aids in detecting signs of atrial fibrillation (AFib), is also missing from the No Wi-Fi wearables. Surprisingly, these No Wi-Fi smartwatches are priced similarly to their Wi-Fi-enabled counterparts.

The Garmin Fenix 7 Pro Solar Edition (No Wi-Fi) is now available for $799.99 and CA$1,079.99 in the United States and Canada respectively. The Fenix 7X Pro Solar Edition (No Wi-Fi) is available at a retail price of $899.99 and CA$1,219.99. However, the availability of these new models in other regions remains uncertain.

Europe Smartphone Shipments remain sluggish in Q3 2023

Like the global smartphone shipment trends, Europe also registered a decline in shipments in the quarter that ended on 30th September 2023. According to a new Counterpoint Research report for Market Monitor Service, smartphone shipments declined 11% YoY in Q3 2023. Major OEMs like Samsung and Apple recorded their worst quarter after 2011 and 2014, respectively.

Must See: TWS Shipments In India Record A Whopping 85 Percent YoY Growth In 2022: Counterpoint Research

As per the report, the demand in the Western European market declined by 8%, and Eastern Europe further dipped by 15%. The ongoing economic and geopolitical challenges in the region are the primary reasons behind sluggish sales.

Amid the decline, Samsung maintained its primary position with 32% market share, Apple preceded with 24%, while Realme raked 22% market share. Honor evolved by 8% from the previous year with a 4% market share.

Speaking on the statistics, Research Analyst Harshit Rastogi said, “Q3 2023 saw the lowest Q3 smartphone shipments since 2011. However, some OEMs have managed to gain a foothold in the market, such as Transsion brands TECNO and Infinix (particularly in Russia), while HONOR is doing well in Western Europe. Even as the market shares of top players remain the same, Chinese OEMs are switching ranks among themselves.”

Samsung retained its position with good demand for its foldable in the region; meanwhile, Apple will rake up some sales this quarter with the iPhone 15 series. Xiaomi is facing backlash from some Western European countries due to its presence in the Russian market. It’s market share declined by 13%. Oppo is also losing ground in the European region due to some issues. Surprisingly, Honor, TECNO, and Infinix registered exceptional growth in comparison with the previous year.

Commenting on the new statistics, Associate Director Jan Stryjak said, “While the market continued to decline, major launches like the iPhone 15 series and Samsung’s fifth-generation foldables softened the fall. The rate of decline is slowing and, while we aren’t holding out a return to growth just yet, we are optimistic about a strong end to the year in Q4. Economic conditions continue to be tough, though, and people are holding on to their devices for longer than ever. Therefore, we expect the market to remain muted for the foreseeable future.

The future growth prospect seems a dream for some unforeseen future in the European smartphone market.

An IMEI database listing of the device that emerged in September revealed that its model number is 2311BPN23C. It is speculated that the Xiaomi Mix Flip may launch with the Xiaomi 14 Ultra in April 2024. It is also being said that the first-generation Mix Flip may remain exclusive to the Chinese market. In the home market, the device is expected to face competition from the Honor Magic Flip and the Vivo X Flip 2, which are also expected in the first half of 2024.

Oppo Reno 11, Reno 11 Pro to feature an ultra-durable battery

Oppo has announced that the initial buyers of the Reno 11 series will benefit from a four-year battery replacement plan, which the brand had previously offered on the Oppo A2 Pro 5G. For the A2 Pro buyers, Oppo has confirmed that it will replace the battery of the device if its health drops below 80 percent within four years of purchase. Hence, it seems that the Reno 11 and Reno 11 Pro may benefit from a similar battery replacement plan.

The company also confirmed that the Reno 11 series will offer 80W charging. As leaks have revealed, the Reno 11 will be equipped with 67W charging, whereas the Pro model will support 80W charging. The brand also confirmed that the Reno 11 and 11 Pro are capable of charging at temperatures as low as minus 20 degrees Celsius.

The Reno 11 series will come equipped with the latest ColorOS 14. The Geekbench listings of the Reno 11 and 11 Pro suggest that these devices will run on ColorOS 14-based Android 14. The new version of ColorOS 14 will bring support for Pantanal smart cross-end systems, AndesGPT, and the ColorOS supercomputing platform. Additionally, the Reno 11 series will support memory lossless compression, allowing users to save up to 45 GB of storage space.

For those who don’t know, the Reno 11 will feature the Dimensity 8200, whereas the Pro version will have the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. This time around, the brand will not launch a Pro+ variant.
