Inaccurate roadmap for One UI 6 leaves Samsung users disappointed

Samsung users were recently treated to what seemed like an early holiday gift – a roadmap detailing the release dates for Android 14 and One UI 6 updates. Shared on Samsung’s community forums by a forum manager, the detailed roadmap included exact release dates for the stable One UI 6 update on various eligible Galaxy devices, sparking excitement among users with eligible devices. However, the roadmap eventually proved to be inaccurate, as the anticipated update rollout for the mentioned devices did not happen.

The actual roadmap is yet to be released

The excitement was short-lived as it turns out the roadmap was nothing more than a misleading mirage. The post containing the release dates has been swiftly removed from Samsung’s forum, and it’s clear that the dates provided were inaccurate and not aligned with Samsung’s official update plans.

For instance, according to the now-debunked roadmap, the Galaxy S22 lineup was expected to receive the stable One UI 6 update on November 15, with the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy A34, and Galaxy A54 slated for an update on November 13. These dates were evidently far from reality.

The truth of the matter is that the official One UI 6 roadmap remains a mystery. Samsung is known for publishing comprehensive roadmaps through the Samsung Members app, ensuring users are informed about the estimated release time frames for major Android and One UI updates.

Currently, the stable Android 14 One UI 6 update is exclusive to the Galaxy S23 series. The tech giant is actively engaged in beta testing One UI 6 across various smartphones.

Samsung users eagerly anticipating the update should exercise patience and manage their expectations. Samsung is likely to provide an accurate roadmap once more devices are set to receive the non-beta One UI 6 update.

OnePlus Open Gains eSIM Functionality With The Latest Update

The OnePlus Open was launched in the global markets last month. The first-ever foldable phone from the company saw record one-day sales in North America and India markets. The device received its first update last month bringing several improvements. Now, the brand is rolling out a new update that introduces support for eSIM along with some new changes. Read on to know everything about it below.

OnePlus Open receiving a new update

The new update for the OnePlus Open is rolled out in a phased manner. Hence it might take some time to reach all devices. The latest update has the version number CPH2551_13.2.0.116 and itt weighs 301.17MB in size. The OS is still based on Android 13.

The OnePlus Open already supports eSIM connectivity. However, it wasn’t enabled in some markets like India. The new update enables the functionality. For those unaware, eSIM is a digital SIM and an alternative to physical SIM cards. It’s worth noting that using eSIM will disable the second physical SIM and it can be enabled again by disabling the eSIM. An EID is required for adding the eSIM. It can be found by navigating to About Device > Status > EID.

Apart from the added support for eSIM functionality, the OnePlus Open’s telephoto camera is also getting increased clarity for photos taken at higher zoom. Pictures are also said to have better color accuracy and improved tones in Photo and Pro mode.

The latest update also brings improvements to system stability and performance. It also fixes a slow response issue while holding a profile photo in We Chat on the cover screen and the unresponsive problem with the eraser tool in Photos.

Amazon’s Exclusive Hyundai Car Sales Launching Next Year

In a groundbreaking move, Amazon is expanding its product offerings to include automobiles. Partnering exclusively with Hyundai, Amazon will begin selling cars directly through its app in 2024. Prime subscribers will enjoy the convenience of having their new vehicles delivered right to their doorsteps. Here are the details…

Hyundai Cars to be Sold on Amazon Starting Next Year

What’s the most expensive thing you’ve ever bought from Amazon? If your answer is a computer or a phone, and you think that was costly, get ready. A recent Twitter post by CEO Andy Jassy unveiled the collaboration with Hyundai.

According to this, starting from 2024, Amazon will list cars just like it lists smartphones or cups. Users will see results based on their geographical location. They can even filter within those results and, just like choosing storage space on a phone, select the model of the car they want to buy. After that, all they need to do is wait because the company will deliver their “package” to their door as soon as possible.

Amazon Hyundai deal

This seemingly strange situation has actually been anticipated for a while. This is because Tesla, founded by Elon Musk, has revolutionized the automotive industry. One of the company’s most successful aspects is its sales strategy. Instead of dealing with local dealerships everywhere, Tesla turned to digital sales channels and small stores, showing that extensive spending on operations worldwide is not necessary.

Following Tesla’s lead, many car manufacturers, large and small, adopted this strategy. It seems that Hyundai is no exception. The specific countries where Amazon’s car sales project will start first are currently uncertain. However, the application is expected to become widespread worldwide shortly after its launch.

Lenovo Legion go review:The best gaming experience on a handheld

As a game lover, I got my hands on many interesting devices, such as this new Lenovo Legion Go handheld gaming console, first of all, I am very happy that a big company like Lenovo is willing to launch such a niche product. Indeed, the Legion Go is a quite special but impressive handheld among all the newest candidates.

Unboxing

Let’s take a look at the packaging, the Legion Go’s outer box doesn’t have anything special, but the accessories are quite good, a pretty well-made carrying case, please don’t underestimate this case, when I put the device into it, it fits very well and protects the device perfectly when I use it on the go. And there is also a magnetic hole in the carrying case for convenient charging: you can easily charge the Legion Go through it – Kind of a thoughtful detail.

A power adapter that supports up to 65w, it’s worth noting that the power cable is quite long. On top of that, there’s a strange plastic piece that no one would know its function without reading the manual again, it can merge with one of the joypads to turn it into a mouse, just like a flight steering rod. Awesome!

Design

In terms of design, the most attractive thing to me is of course the screen. This 8.8-inch LCD screen is the largest among the current handheld consoles with the Windows system. Comparing it to the switch, the difference in screen size is very obvious.

When you actually get your hands on the Legion Go, the screen is even bigger than what you see in the commercial. I have to admit that a bigger screen does lead to a better gaming experience, and as far as graphics go this device has no rivals. But the weight of 860g deserves careful consideration by all of us before buying, can your arms and wrists live up to this machine for a long time?

In terms of exterior design, I have to say that the Legion Go is very much in line with my taste, the lines are full of energy, the body looks very sharp, like a muscle car. Combined with the RGB effect on the joystick, this is the coolest gaming handheld console as far as I’m concerned.

The Legion Go’s design incorporates many features of handheld consoles on the market, such as removable controllers, touch pads on the controllers, brackets on the back of the mainframe, etc.

Of course, the Legion Go also has its own unique design, the right controller can be removed, you can conveniently use it as a mouse, for fps games obviously,it’s not the best, But I really like what Lenovo has been trying on Legion Go.

At the same time, just like the Switch, Legion Go’s controllers can be paired with the console separately, allowing two person playing together without additional controllers when playing some old games, which is the first in windows handheld consoles, It’s great.

My only complaint in terms of appearance is that the black plastic shell is very prone to fingerprints. The controller part is fine, the main unit was covered in grease after I used it for only ten minutes. And it’s very hard to clean.

Performance

The Legion Go comes with an AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme processor, which is one of the most powerful processors currently available for Windows handhelds with 8 zen4 cores, 16 threads, a Boosted clock of up to 5.1 GHz, and 16MB of L3 cache, in short, it is an AMD Ryzen 7 7840U optimized for low-power performance.、

In the test, it has a good performance at 30w power consumption. Even at 15w of power consumption, the performance is still strong.

In terms of GPU performance, the Z1 Extreme is equipped with a Radom 780M core graphics card, which scored 2,782 points in the time spy, this is an amazing result, and almost doubles the 96eu Intel XE graphics card, which is close to GTX-1650 max-Q performance.

Overall, the Z1 Extreme is a great processor for such devices, and in daily use, even when running high-performance demanding games, the Z1 Extreme delivers a very smooth gaming experience at 800p-1200p resolutions and low graphics. Some may argue that the resolution and graphics presets are too low, but in real life using the lower graphics is acceptable in an 8.8″ screen size.

In terms of power consumption, I first did a stress test at 15w TDP and the results were excellent with CPU temperatures below 70° the entire time and the fan noise being very minimal.

At 30w TDP, the power was maintained at 30w for the first 2 minutes of the stress test, after which it stayed at around 25w, with higher fan speeds and noticeable fan noise.

Game

I first tested Horizon 5 at 1200p with the low frame rate preset, and to be honest, I was very happy with the result, and even with the low frame rate the performance was excellent.

In Cyberpunk 2077, in the same 1200p, low-graphic preset, it still had good framerates, which was great.

I also tested my favorite game Ganshin Impact, at 2560×1600 resolution, low graphics preset, with an average frame rate of 53fps, and because the resolution is high enough, the game has great graphics, even better than the highest graphics on mobile platforms.

Finally, I also tried running Tears of the Kingdom on Legion Go and it almost always stayed at 1080p 30fps, a much better experience than it on switch.

Screen

The Legion Go uses an 8.8-inch LCD display, and if you’re familiar with Lenovo’s products, you’ll notice that the Legion Go uses the same screen as the Lenovo y700 tablet, which is a very good screen as far as display is concerned. But it’s not perfect, First of all, since it’s an LCD display, it has a high power consumption. At the same time, the screen does not support variable refresh rates. In other words, the screen has a serious impact on the battery life of the Legion Go.

Battery

Although the Legion Go has a large 49-watt-hour battery, the battery life performance is very average, with a TDP setting of 15W, you can play games for 2 hours, and with a TDP setting of 30W, it can only run for 1 hour, and 30 minutes. When playing some games with lower performance requirements, setting TDP to 5-10w can make it run for 3-4 hours. Of course, this is not a problem for Lenovo, most windows handheld consoles on the market have very average battery life, so when running games with high graphic requirements, I would connect it to a power adapter, the good news is that Legion Go supports bypass charging.

Speaker

The Legion Go’s speakers are located on the top of the console, and they are not that great.

Software

This console has very good hardware, but Lenovo didn’t do the best job in the software. First of all, let’s talk about the Legion space, when I was using the Legion Go, I never launched any game through the Legion space, I didn’t have a way to put my favorite games on the homepage, honestly, it’s more like an advertisement slot. As for the quick settings interface, you can quickly adjust brightness, power consumption, volume, etc., but you can’t lock the frame rate of the game, you can’t record the screen conveniently, and even the data of the performance monitor is incorrect. I hope that Lenovo will improve these issues in the next update.

Conclusion

Overall, the Legion Go has very good hardware, a powerful and balanced CPU, a good quality screen, and a controller full of highlights, but also many shortcomings. I think this handheld console is more suitable for heavy gamers and geeks.

Samsung cuts ties with Chinese panel maker BOE amid legal battles

South Korean electronics giant Samsung Electronics has severed ties with BOE, China’s largest display manufacturer.

Samsung’s decision to exclude BOE from its supplier list stems from a series of patent infringement and trade secret theft allegations.

Samsung Cuts Ties with BOE

In recent months, Samsung Display, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics, has filed complaints with the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) accusing BOE of misappropriating its OLED panel and module technology.

BOE has been a major supplier of Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) panels to Samsung Electronics, accounting for around 10% of the company’s TV panel purchases in the first half of 2023.

However, in the third quarter of the year, BOE was excluded from the list of key panel suppliers for Samsung Electronics’ Device Experience (DX) division, marking the first time in nearly seven and a half years that the Chinese company has not been included as a primary supplier.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5

The severing of ties with BOE is likely to have a significant impact on the Chinese company’s business. BOE had been counting on Samsung as a major customer, and the loss of this contract will likely hurt its bottom line.

With BOE out of the picture, Samsung Electronics is expected to increase its cooperation with other suppliers, including LG Display, Sharp, and AUO.

LG Display, in particular, is anticipated to ramp up production at its Guangzhou, China LCD factory, potentially increasing shipments from 9 million units in 2023 to 16 million units in 2024.

Google has launched a new “Notes” feature in its Search app, allowing users to add their annotations to search results they find on the web. Alongside this, Google has unveiled a bunch of other announcements, which we’ll delve into further.

Google now lets you add annotations to search results via “Notes”

The Notes feature provides a personal space for users to capture their thoughts and insights related to specific search topics. These notes are not private; they are publicly visible to anyone who searches for the same topic. Google believes this approach can add a “helpful layer of human insights to search results.”

Since Notes will be indexable on the open web, users will be able to share them directly through email links rather than solely through search results.

To use it, the user must first opt into the feature through Search Labs. Once enabled, buttons for adding and viewing notes will appear underneath search results and articles.

You can customize your Notes with colorful fonts and images for a more visually appealing look. And, you can also go to any Google search page and check notes that are added by others.

The initial rollout of Notes will be limited to users in the United States and India. Google is also exploring ways to provide publishers with insights gleaned from Notes placed on their content.

Keeping Track of Search Topics with Follow

In addition to Notes, Google unveiled a new “Follow” feature that permits users to track specific search queries. Following a query, users will receive batched updates and notifications about relevant developments related to their chosen topics.

Apple embraces RCS messaging standard for iPhone

In a surprising move, Apple has announced that it will adopt the Rich Communication Services (RCS) standard for messaging, bringing an end to the frustrating green bubble experience for iPhone users when communicating with Android devices.

The company plans to incorporate RCS support into its Messages app next year, significantly improving cross-platform messaging capabilities.

In a statement to 9to5Mac, an Apple spokesperson said:

“Later next year, we will be adding support for RCS Universal Profile, the standard as currently published by the GSM Association. We believe RCS Universal Profile will offer a better interoperability experience when compared to SMS or MMS. This will work alongside iMessage, which will continue to be the best and most secure messaging experience for Apple users.”

RCS, a communication protocol developed by the GSM Association, offers a host of enhancements over the outdated SMS and MMS standards currently used for text messages in iPhones. It enables users to share high-resolution photos and videos, send audio messages, and transfer larger files.

Apple RCS messaging coming to iPhone

Additionally, RCS enhances security for cross-platform messaging, adds cross-platform emoji reactions, and improves the reliability of group chats across different devices.

Apple’s decision to embrace RCS comes after years of persuasion from Google, smartphone manufacturers, and even regulatory bodies. The company had previously resisted adopting RCS, citing concerns about its potential impact on iMessage, its proprietary messaging platform.

RCS support will be introduced to iPhones via a software update next year. Carriers will also play a crucial role in implementing RCS support to ensure full functionality. In the United States, major carriers like Verizon, T-Mobile, and AT&T already support RCS.

Honor 100, Honor 100 Pro design gets confirmed by real-life images

Honor has officially unveiled its highly anticipated Honor 100 series, scheduled for an official release on November 23. The series will include the Honor 100 and the Honor 100 Pro, with notable distinctions in their design aesthetics. The revelations, including real-life images, shed light on the visual differences between the two models, especially highlighting the unique design elements of the Pro model.

Honor 100 and Honor 100 Pro design elements

Honor 100 Pro

The Honor 100 and Honor 100 Pro will showcase distinct design elements. The Honor 100 boasts three color options: black, white, and a gradient finish. Its camera setup adopts a classic rectangular shape, with a stylish semi-circular decorative band. Positioned in the middle are two cameras.

In contrast, the Honor 100 Pro introduces four color variants, including classic black and white, along with two dual-tone options in cyan and purple. What sets the Pro model apart is its innovative use of materials on the back panel. It involves a patchwork of glass and plain leather as you can see in the images. This unconventional approach presents a manufacturing challenge but adds a touch of sophistication to the device.

The camera module on the Honor 100 Pro takes a departure from traditional designs, featuring a shape inspired by the Möbius ring concept. Despite its seemingly disorderly appearance, the Möbius ring represents an infinite loop, adding a layer of symbolism to the phone’s aesthetics. Upon closer inspection, the Honor 100 Pro showcases three cameras on the rear, with a notable 50-megapixel main camera, complemented by OIS (Optical Image Stabilization) for enhanced photography capabilities.

Other leaked specifications include Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 for the Honor 100 and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for the Honor 100 Pro.

Samsung Galaxy XCover 7: Key Details

The next Galaxy XCover 7 is anticipated to have a robust and long-lasting design, akin to previous XCover series phones, based on the leaked pictures. It is probably drop-resistant enough to fulfil MIL-STD-810H standards because of its robust construction and raised corners for shock absorption. It should also offer IP68 protection against water and dust.

Naturally, the Galaxy XCover 7’s display panel has substantial bezels for a tough smartphone. The selfie camera will probably be housed inside a notch that resembles a water drop.

The Galaxy XCover 7 seems to have a single back camera surrounded by a red accent ring. A dual-rear camera configuration is available on the XCover 6 Pro, the previous edition of the XCover series smartphone.

Recent sources claim that the Galaxy XCover 7’s back plate is detachable and features a grooved pattern. This suggests that a detachable battery will be a part of the Galaxy XCover 7. The study, however, omits information on the phone’s battery life and charging speed.

As a result, a ruggedized variant of the Galaxy A55 5G will be called as the Galaxy XCover 7. The phone is anticipated to cost less than the $599 Galaxy XCover 6 Pro.
