Redmi Note 13 5G, Note 13 Pro 5G, Note 13 Pro+ 5G set to launch on September 21

In October 2022, Redmi announced the RedmI Note 12 series in China. Hence, initial reports claimed that the Note 13 series would break cover in the same month this year. However, when the Redmi Note 13 series models appeared in TENAA’s database earlier this month, rumors started swirling that they may debut this month in China. Earlier this week, the brand confirmed that the Note 13 series would be announced in September. France Hits Pause on iPhone 12 Sales, Sparking Global Conversation on Radiation Standards

In an unprecedented move, France’s Agency of National Frequencies (ANFR) has temporarily suspended the sale of Apple‘s iPhone 12 series due to concerns over radiation emissions. While the suspension raises questions about the iPhone’s safety, it also draws attention to the varying global standards for electromagnetic radiation.

Apple responded by saying that the iPhone 12 has already passed all radiation tests

The French regulatory body took the action after finding that the iPhone 12’s “specific absorption rate” (SAR)—a measure of electromagnetic waves absorbed by the human body—exceeded the European Union’s (EU) legal limit. According to ANFR, the iPhone 12 series had an SAR rate of 5.74 watts per kilogram at a 5 mm distance, surpassing the EU’s cap of 4.0 watts per kilogram.

Apple

Apple quickly responded, asserting that its iPhone 12 line had received certifications from multiple international bodies and met global radiation norms. The tech giant also stated that it had shared comprehensive test reports with ANFR to prove its compliance.

What’s intriguing here is the discrepancy in global radiation standards. The EU’s restrictions are notably stricter than those in other parts of the world, leading some experts to argue that the EU is over-cautious. Nevertheless, France’s actions have ignited a global debate on whether current radiation benchmarks are adequate.

The standoff between France and Apple presents an opportunity for reevaluating international radiation norms. With technology becoming increasingly interwoven into daily life, discussions on its safety implications are crucial. As the matter unfolds, it serves as a wake-up call to regulatory agencies worldwide to scrutinize whether their existing standards are both current and universally applicable.

While Apple engages with ANFR to resolve the issue, consumers are left pondering: Are our devices as safe as we think, or is it time to push for a global standardization in radiation limits? With the unveiling of the 2023 iPhone line, Apple finds itself in an uncomfortable spotlight, one that could very well influence global policies on tech safety.

Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro new leaks: MIUI-flavored WearOS coming along with Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chip

Earlier this month, a leak revealed what the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro will look like, along with unveiling some key specs. Now, another such leak has emerged online, this time giving us an even more in-depth look at the spec sheet as well as the design.

As per a recent tweet by Arsène Lupin, the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro smartwatch includes a Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 processor with 2GB RAM and 32GB storage capacity. It is expected to feature a 1.43-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 466×466 pixels and 326 ppi pixel density. The device may come with a 500mAh battery offering up to 72 hours of usage on a single charge, and an optional LTE variant for enhanced connectivity. One of the most important things revealed in the leak is that the smartwatch will feature WearOS with Xiaomi’s MIUI flavor on top.

In terms of build, the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro is said to have a stainless steel body protected by Gorilla Glass. It might be available with either a silver leather strap or a black rubber strap option. For fitness and health tracking, the smartwatch is rumored to support 150 different sports modes, ECG monitoring, heart rate tracking, body temperature monitoring, and sleep tracking.

To navigate its functions, the watch will feature a rotating crown, and it could have a 5ATM water resistance rating for water-based activities. Xbox Game Pass Core playlist revealed: 36 titles including Doom Eternal, Dishonored 2 & more

As of September 14, Xbox Live Gold is officially history, making way for Xbox Game Pass Core. The new offering sets itself apart from its predecessor by featuring a rotating library of 36 games, as opposed to letting players claim permanent titles each month. While the change sounds promising, the initial list of games may not be thrilling enough for hardcore Xbox fans.

Xbox Game Pass Core

On the brighter side, Game Pass Core offers a lot of titles, from the classic, adrenaline-pumping “Doom Eternal” to “Stardew Valley.” With an annual subscription of just $60, it certainly offers value for money, especially for players new to these titles. But the flip side is the three- to six-month waiting period for any update in the list, raising questions about its long-term appeal. Xbox is definitely playing it smart with this one.

Xbox Game Pass Core library:

  • Among Us
  • Astroneer
  • Celeste
  • Dead Cells
  • Descenders
  • Dishonored 2
  • Doom Eternal Standard Edition
  • Fable Anniversary
  • Fallout 4
  • Fallout 76
  • Firewatch
  • Forza Horizon 4 Standard Edition
  • Gang Beasts
  • Gears 5 Game of the Year Edition
  • Golf with your Friends
  • Grounded
  • Halo 5: Guardians
  • Halo Wars 2
  • Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice
  • Human Fall Flat
  • Inside
  • Limbo
  • Ori & the Will of the Wisps
  • Overcooked! 2
  • Payday 2: Crimewave Edition
  • Powerwash Simulator
  • Psychonauts 2
  • Slay the Spire
  • Spiritfarer: Farewell Edition
  • Stardew Valley
  • State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition
  • Superliminal
  • The Elder Scrolls Online
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge
  • Unpacking
  • Vampire Survivors

Then there’s another ‘catch.’ Game Pass Core will be essential for multiplayer gaming. Simply put, if you want some squad action in Call of Duty or other multiplayer games, you’re bound to this service. While this might seem like a reasonable deal for newcomers, veterans of the Xbox community might feel somewhat unhappy with this decision.

Is this switch a fresh start or a step back? While the rotating list adds a twist of surprise, the relatively stagnant lineup may not be appealing to some players. Microsoft has this big opportunity to reevaluate and refresh the list more frequently, thus keeping the excitement alive. In its current form, however, Game Pass Core seems like a mixed bag—a convenient yet not a special change in the Xbox ecosystem.

Bottom line? Xbox Game Pass Core has its merits for sure, but whether it’s the next big thing in gaming is definitely debatable. As the platform evolves slowly, Microsoft should take community feedback seriously if they want to make this a long-term success.

Apple iPhone 15 will ship with Battery Charge limit feature

Curtains for the iPhone 15 series are finally dropped with some exciting features including the presence of a USB Type-C port and the new Apple A17 Bionic built on a 3nm process. On the software front, there are still some features that need clarification. As per 9to5Mac, the iPhone 15 will offer the ability to limit battery charge to maximize battery health.

Related: Apple iPhone 14, iPhone 13, & others see price drop in India after iPhone 15 launch

The code related to the feature was spotted in the iOS 17 RC. It is a welcome move by Apple if the feature makes its way to the iPhone 15. It will not only help to enhance battery health if you charge your battery overnight.

iPhone 15 Battery Charge Limit Feature Coming

iOS always alerts the user when the battery level hits 100%, but its inability to limit the charge always feels like a bottleneck. With the iPhone 15, the feature will be a boon for users who think of battery health or opt for overnight charging.

The feature is already available on Android and some Laptops. Some Android smartphones even offer Optimized Battery charging, which automatically learns from your charging patterns that enable it to limit the charging for some time, and fills the remaining once your time to unplug nears. Moreover, macOS also offers battery limits via third-party apps, but we’re not sure how effective those utilities are on macOS.

Limiting Full Charge is a tactic that is followed by several companies that slows down the degradation of Lithium Battery cells. Even some experts recommend limiting the battery charge if you always keep the charger plugged in.

Must See: Apple discontinues iPhone 14 Pro series & more following iPhone 15 launch

The feature compatibility with the older iPhones is not yet confirmed, but chances seem bleak as the feature seems linked to USB Type-C. For actual information, we have to wait for iOS 17 release on September 18 or until we hands-on the iPhone 15 which is set for launch on September 22. There’s no official confirmation about the feature, so take it with a grain of salt.

Pixel 8’s Tensor 3 chip to run a lot cooler than its predecessor: Report

The upcoming Google Pixel 8 series is scheduled for release on October 4th as part of the annual ‘Made by Google’ event. As is customary, most of the specifications and features of these smartphones have already been disclosed through leaks. While the Pixel 8 currently appears to lack any major upgrades beyond some noteworthy software features, a recent report has piqued our curiosity about this upcoming smartphone.

Tensor

As per a recent tweet by Revegnus, the new Tensor G3 chip inside the Pixel 8 series will incorporate FO-WLP (Fan-out wafer-level packaging) packaging, which is expected to reduce heat generation and increase power efficiency. Companies like Qualcomm and MediaTek already use this technology to improve efficiency, and graphics performance and help keep their chips cooler. This will be the first time that Samsung Foundaries, who make the Tensor G3 chips for Google will be implementing this tech.

Google Pixel 8 Pro

Although the Tensor G3 may not set any performance records, its potential to run at lower temperatures compared to the G2 could become a significant selling point for the Pixel 8 series. This is especially relevant since the Pixel 7 has faced challenges in maintaining acceptable temperature levels during both demanding and routine tasks.

However, there are rumors suggesting that Google intends to break free from its reliance on Samsung. Reports have surfaced, indicating that the company is contemplating the complete in-house design and manufacturing of its chips, potentially utilizing TSMC‘s 4nm process.

France Bans Apple iPhone 12 Over Radiation Levels: Is Your Phone Safe?

Apple unveiled its new iPhone 15 series at its Wonderlust event yesterday. The much-anticipated phones quickly became a topic of conversation around the world with their features and prices. However, in France, the focus was not on the iPhone 15, but on the iPhone 12. The sale of the model in the European country has been banned due to above-threshold radiation levels. Here are the details….

France Bans iPhone 12 Over Radiation Fears

The French government’s radiation watchdog, the ANFR, has notified Apple that it plans to ban the sale of the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro in France. The ANFR said that the phones emit excessive levels of radio waves, which could pose a health risk to users. Apple has disputed the ANFR’s findings, saying that the phones meet all applicable safety standards. The company has said that it will appeal the decision.

iPhone 12 ban

The ANFR’s decision is based on a study that found that the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro emit up to 1.5 watts per kilogram of radio waves at close range. This is above the 1 watt per kilogram limit set by the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection. The ICNIRP’s limits are based on the amount of radio waves that are considered safe for human exposure. However, some experts have argued that the limits are too high and that even low levels of radio waves can be harmful.

Apple has disputed the ANFR’s findings, saying that the phones meet all applicable safety standards. The company has said that it will appeal the decision. However, It remains to be seen whether the ANFR’s decision will be implemented or if Apple will be able to overturn it.

The Xiaomi 14 series is rumored to launch earlier than its predecessor. The next-gen Xiaomi flagship smartphone is expected to go official in a couple of months from now.

We have been hearing about these devices for the last few months. A couple of more details have emerged now from a reliable source.

The latest leak reveals the RAM capacity and production status of these upcoming handsets.

Xiaomi 13 Pro

The Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro are rumored to be the world’s first Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 smartphones on the market. This is not surprising as the company had first dibs on the latest Qualcomm flagship mobile chip multiple times in the past.

What’s more interesting is that these phones are said to start with 12GB RAM instead of 8GB like previous iterations. This piece of information comes from the reliable leaker Digital Chat Station.

Unfortunately, he did not say anything about the maximum RAM available on these devices. But he had earlier disclosed that the Xiaomi 14 Pro will be offered in 512GB and 1TB storage variants.

The second tidbit also comes from the same source. The tipster says that the Xiaomi 14 series production began at the end of August. This week the company increased the order volume by 60%, and more such increments are expected in the future.

There have been several spec leaks in the past. However, the main highlight is that both Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Pro are said to flaunt a flat display. Additionally, the pro model will have minimal bezels all around and a frame made of titanium alloy like the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

These handsets are rumored to launch in the first or second week of November. They will hit the market in China in time for the Double Eleven (Single’s Day) sale season.
