Tech giant Dell boosts full-year outlook as AI demand surges and PC market rebounds

Dell Technologies has raised its full-year forecasts for both revenue and profit, signaling a potential end to the recent tech spending downturn. The company has benefited significantly from the surging demand for artificial intelligence (AI) solutions and a stabilizing market for computer hardware and server products.

In the wake of these positive developments, Dell’s shares surged during extended trading hours. Furthermore, Dell’s client solutions group (CSG), which includes its consumer and enterprise PC business, experienced an 8 percent revenue increase from the first quarter, reaching $12.94 billion. This rise reflects a resurgence in demand for personal computers, a segment that had faced challenges during the tech spending downturn.

One of the key drivers of Dell’s success has been the burgeoning demand for its PowerEdge servers, which are optimized for AI applications. Additionally, the company’s generative AI designs, developed in collaboration with Nvidia, have found favor among Big Tech companies ramping up their AI investments.

Dell’s financial outlook is showing robust figures for the third quarter, with projected revenues ranging from $22.5 billion to $23.5 billion, exceeding analyst estimates of $21.67 billion, according to Refinitiv data. Dell also anticipates earnings per share (EPS) of $1.45, with a slight margin of plus or minus 10 cents, surpassing the estimated $1.38.

For the full year, Dell has revised its expectations upwards, now projecting revenues in the range of $89.5 billion to $91.5 billion and EPS of $6.30, plus or minus 20 cents. These revised forecasts reflect the company’s optimism about sustained growth in the coming months.

In the second quarter, Dell reported revenues and EPS that outperformed analyst expectations, underscoring the strength of its current market position. Notably, the company’s servers and networking revenue for the second quarter reached $4.27 billion, marking an impressive 11 percent increase from the previous quarter. This growth is attributed to rising demand for AI-optimized servers, a trend that Dell has effectively capitalized on.

As the global tech landscape continues to evolve, Dell’s strong performance serves as a beacon of hope, signaling a potential rebound in tech spending across the globe.

Due to recent business developments, the HUAWEI Music Premium Service will be discontinued on August 31, 2023 and switched to the free music radio service. With this change, we want to focus entirely on building and expanding a sustainable technology environment for all our users.

Honor Magic V2 will be sold in these markets but not until next year

The Honor Magic V2 is particularly thin among foldable phones, in fact, it’s the thinnest after the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 (review). While the device had initially been limited to sales in China, Honor introduced it to the global market today during the IFA Berlin event. The pricing and availability of the handset for the international market are still anyone’s guess. However, a new report claims the Magic V2 will be available in at least 5 countries outside China, but not until Q1 2024.

Honor tells Android Authority that the Magic V2 will formally launch in the global market in Q1 2024. The company did not reveal which markets will get the phone but the outlet has spotted it listed on the official websites in Germany, Italy, Spain, Ireland, and the UK. Some Latin American markets may also get the new foldable.

Honor-Magic-V2

The global pricing of the Magic V2 remains a mystery. To give you an idea, the handset is available for purchase in China at 8,999 yuan (~$1,300) for the 16GB RAM+256GB storage version. The price in the global should be higher, likely matching the $1700 Magic Vs.

Apart from a thin 9.9mm thick body, Honor Magic V2 also brings a 6.43-inch OLED outer display with a resolution of 2,376×1,060 pixels. There’s a screen measuring 7.92 inches on the inside with a 2,344×2,156 pixels resolution. Both display panels offer a 120Hz LTPO refresh rate along with high-frequency PWM dimming for reducing eye fatigue.

The foldable is powered by an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, the same one found on the Samsung Galaxy S23 series. It packs 16 GB RAM and is offered in 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB storage configurations. Magic V2 draws its power from a 5,000mAh battery unit with support for 66W charging.

Cancelled Samsung Exynos 2300 is said to be on par with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

Samsung has reportedly cancelled the Exynos 2300 chipset, which was codenamed “Quadra.” The decision was made before the SoC entered mass production, but the reason for the cancellation is unknown.

Popular tipster @Revengus shared the news that Samsung has canceled the mass production of the Exynos 2300 chip on his Twitter handle. He says that the decision was not made because of the MX decision. Instead, it was made before the chip could be mass-produced by the DS division.

Although the Exynos 2300 was not mass-produced, it is said to be comparable in performance to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, which is the current best flagship chip from Qualcomm. The tipster compares the Exynos 2300 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 to the Exynos 2100 and Snapdragon 888 chip, which were used in the Galaxy S21 series a couple of years ago.

The Exynos 2300 was said to be comparable to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in multi-core performance, but it was unclear how it would fare in the GPU test. Google’s Tensor G3 is reported to be a modified version of the Exynos 2300, but a Geekbench 5 leak suggests that it performed worse than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. This casts doubt on the Exynos 2300’s capabilities.

However, it is still unclear why Samsung decided to cancel the mass production of the Exynos 2300. It is possible that the chip was not cost-effective to produce, or that Samsung had other reasons for wanting to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in its upcoming phones.

Despite the cancellation of the Exynos 2300, Samsung is reported to be working on the Exynos 2400, which is expected to be released in Q4 2023. The Exynos 2400 is said to be manufactured using Samsung’s 4nm process, which has reportedly improved yields.

The Most Advanced Chips in the World: Apple to Buy TSMC’s Entire Supply of 3nm Chips for 2023

Despite being one of the world’s largest technology companies, Apple is still dependent on outside production. Yes, the company has perhaps the best engineering team in the world and its R&D department is unrivaled, but these teams are more focused on the design of the product. Therefore, the American tech giant often collaborates with other manufacturers such as Foxconn, TSMC, Samsung, and BOE on various issues. Now, there is a rumor going around that Apple plans to purchase the entire supply of 3nm chips from TSMC. Here are the details…

TSMC’s 3nm Chips: The Most Advanced Chips in the World, and Apple Wants Them All

The collaboration between Apple and TSMC continues to grow stronger. According to recent reports, the two companies have signed a major agreement for 3nm chips that will be used in both the A17 Bionic, which will power the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro models, and the M3 processors that will be the heart of the next generation of MacBooks. Apple has already purchased a large portion of the 3nm chips that will be produced in 2023. Some sources say this purchase was based on 90%. Now, this figure has reached 100%.

The rumor is based on a report from DigiTimes, which cited industry sources. The report said that Apple has already booked all of TSMC’s 3nm capacity for 2023. If the rumor is true, it would be a major coup for Apple. It would give the company a significant advantage over its rivals in the race to develop the most powerful and efficient chips. It would also allow Apple to maintain its leadership in the global smartphone market.

TSMC’s 3nm chips offer a number of advantages over its predecessors, including increased transistor density, reduced power consumption, improved performance, and support for new features. These advantages make 3nm chips a promising technology for a wide range of applications, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, servers, and even self-driving cars.

IFA 2023: Tecno Phantom Ultimate Rollable Concept Phone Showcased But It May Never See The Light Of The Day

IFA the global consumer electronics trade show is currently underway in Berlin. Many brands have already announced their products and more are likely on the way as the event ends on September 5. Rollable phones are not entirely new in the field of consumer technology and we have seen a few in recent years. However, none of the previously showcased rollable phones have made it to the mass market. Now at the IFA, Tecno has demonstrated the Phantom Ultimate, a rollable screen concept smartphone.

Tecno Phantom Ultimate showcased at IFA

Rollable smartphones are quite different from foldable phones that is increasingly becoming a popular segment today. As the name suggests, these devices feature an expandable display from one side of the device to offer a larger screen and usage experience.

An official video of the Tecno Phantom Ultimate gives us a better look at the device. It is designed to unroll quickly with the help of a single-drive motor system that expands the device at the press of a button on the top. When it is pressed, the display from the left side starts rolling out turning the basic 6.55-inch smartphone into a 7.1-inch in just 1.3 seconds which sounds quite impressive. The device features an LTPO AMOLED display panel bearing a resolution of 2,296 x 1,596 pixels and a 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut.

To close the rolled or extended screen, users have to perform a three-finger swipe gesture. Additionally, the rollable portion of the device wraps around the edge of the back panel when it is not in use. It serves as an always-on display with important notification updates and also as a rear camera selfie viewfinder. The rollable concept phone has two camera sensors and an LED flash unit on the back panel. It sports a boxy form factor measuring 9.93 mm in thickness yet Tecno says that it can be comfortably managed by one hand.

Since this is a concept phone, the Tecno Phantom Ultimate will likely not see the light of the day. We can only hope, that rollable phones become mainstream in the near future.
