Earlier this month, FiiO, the company known for making audiophile products, launched its new budget true wireless earphones in the market, dubbed FiiO FW3 HiFi.

Today, the company has added a new color option, White, which is now available for purchase in China for the price of 499 yuan, which roughly converts to $70.

The FiiO FW3 HiFi TWS earbuds come with a 10mm carbon-based dynamic driver and have support for Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. Along with the Bluetooth receiver chip, there’s also an AKM “Velvet Sound” AK4332 chip in each earbud that combines DAC and a headphone amplifier.

The earphones are powered by the Qualcomm QCC5141, which adopts dual DSP and dual-core CPU architecture for the stability of Bluetooth audio and system operation. The company is also boasting about Snapdragon Sound certification, but it appears that there’s no support for aptX Lossless codec.

It also comes with a low-latency game mode, greatly reducing transmission delay. They have a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of up to 106dB, a distortion rate of as low as 96 dB, and a dynamic range of 102 dB. They are rated to last 7 hours on a single charge, and the charging case provides additional 21 hours of battery life.

FiiO’s Music application allows users to adjust a 10-band parametric EQ along with allowing users to adjust left/right balance as well as select their preferred DAC filter and Bluetooth codec. However, iPhone users are locked into AAC, but Android users can access the FW3’s support for LDAC, LHDC, aptX Adaptive, aptX, and SBC.

In a recent leak, tipster Digital Chat Station hinted that the Oppo Pad Air 2 could be equipped with an 8,000mAh battery. The tablet is expected to face competition from the Vivo Pad Air 2, Redmi Pad 2, and Realme Pad 2 in the Chinese market.

It appears that Oppo will be holding a major launch event in China in August. The event is likely to see the arrival of the Oppo Find N3 foldable phone and the Oppo Watch 5 series. The brand is likely to announce the Oppo Pad Air 2 at the same event.

Chinese rugged smartphone manufacturer AGM has unveiled a new budget smartphone in China. The AGM Z1, as it is called, is powered by the UNISOC T606 processor with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.

The UNISOC T606 chipset is an entry-level octa-core processor with two big ARM Cortex A75 cores @ 1.6GHz and six power-efficient ARM Cortex A55 cores at up to 1.6GHz. The chipset includes an LTE modem, an LPDDR4X 1600 MHz memory controller, an ARM Mali G57 MP1 GPU @ 650MHz, and a tri-core ISP. The UNISOC T606 is manufactured via the 12nm process by TSMC.

The AGM Z1 smartphone is available in two color variants namely night gray and dark sky blue. The smartphone is 8.55mm thick and features a 6.52-inch HD+ IPS screen with 1600 x 720 pixels resolution. It also weighs just 190g. The screen has a refresh rate of 90Hz while its 4,900mAh battery supports 10W charging.

In terms of camera setup, the AGM Z1 has a 50MP main camera, an 8MP front camera, and a 5cm microlens. The smartphone runs on Android 13 out of the box and supports fingerprint recognition and face unlocking. It is also equipped with a 3.5mm audio jack and dual standby and stereo speakers.

Samsung is rolling out the July 2023 security patch to its Galaxy S21 FE devices in India, following the successful rollout to its S22, S23, and other flagship and midrange series. The firmware version G990EXXS7EWG1 update, of 256MB size, rectifies over 90 security vulnerabilities identified in the earlier software, without offering any additional features or performance enhancements. This security patch might be the final minor update prior to the forthcoming One UI 5.1.1 update.

What’s new in this update?

The new patch resolves 90 security issues impacting Galaxy tablets and smartphones. Among these, Google has provided 52 solutions, while Samsung developed 38 fixes. These encompass three critical security vulnerabilities, 56 high-priority flaws, and the rest of moderate risk. Some of the issues rectified relate to manual package installation via ADB command, improper access control in the audio system, UWB chipset identifier, and Galaxy Themes Service, among others.

Xiaomi’s Redmi 12 smartphone has obtained Bluetooth SIG certification, paving the way for its upcoming launch in India. The certification with Declaration ID D063911 confirms that the device supports Bluetooth version 5.3.

The Redmi 12 has already been announced in global markets like Thailand and Portugal is set to make its debut in India on August 1, 2023. Just recently, a Moonstone Silver color variant of the smartphone was unveiled ahead of its scheduled launch in India. Through a listing leak, it is also revealed that Redmi 12 will be available on Amazon India.

The Redmi 12 boasts a 6.79-inch FHD+ LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 1080×2400 pixels. It runs on a MediaTek Helio G88 12nm octa-core processor accompanied by an ARM Mali-G52 2EEMC2 GPU.

The current generation Samsung Galaxy S23+ and S23 Ultra support 45W charging speed whereas the standard S23 is limited to 25W. The South Korean brand has not moved the charging speed by even a little above that. In fact, the support for 45W speed was first introduced in 2019 on the Galaxy Note 10+.

As per a previous report, Samsung will adopt the stacked battery charging technology on the Galaxy S24 series that is found in electric vehicles. In simple terms, it is a method of improving the overall battery capacities without changing its physical size. This feature will reportedly be limited to the S24+ and S24 Ultra. Both phones are expected to be backed by a 5,000mAh cell. The stacked battery tech will also offer support for faster charging speed potentially maxing out at 65W. This is a 20W gain over the current 45W speed on the Galaxy S23+ and Ultra variants. The S24 Ultra is also tipped to come with a cooling gel for heat dissipation.

Unfortunately, the Samsung Galaxy S23 will miss out the charging speed upgrade. This is because the company is yet to start running tests on the stacked battery technology and there may not be sufficient production capacity.

The tipster also reveals the Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 lineup will use stacked battery tech.

Xiaomi is reportedly preparing to launch the Xiaomi 13T series, which will consist of two models: the Xiaomi 13T and the Xiaomi 13T Pro. Recent certifications and leaks have provided some key specifications for the Xiaomi 13T.

Xiaomi 13T FCC certification

The Xiaomi 13T, with the model number 2306EPN60G, has received certification from various platforms, including the EEC certification platform, IMEI database, Singapore’s IMDA, TKDN certification platforms, and now the FCC.

According to the FCC documents shared by tipster Mukul Sharma, the Xiaomi 13T will come with MIUI 14 preinstalled and will offer connectivity features like NFC, 5G, Wi-Fi 802.11ax, Bluetooth, and GNSS.

The FCC documents also reveal that there are three samples of the Xiaomi 13T undergoing testing. Two samples feature 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, with one having a glass back cover and the other sporting a PU back cover. The third sample, equipped with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, also has a PU back cover.

Xiaomi 13T specifications (rumored)

Additional reports suggest that the Xiaomi 13T will sport a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. It might be powered by the Dimensity 9200 Plus or Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 chipset. While camera details are not known yet, it is speculated that the Xiaomi 13T series will be launched globally on September 1, with the base model priced at £599. The device is expected to have a 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging support.

As for the Xiaomi 13T Pro, which is said to be a tweaked version of Redmi K60 Ultra, recent Geekbench listings suggest it will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ processor. The 13T Pro might come in the color option Meadow Green and is expected to be priced at £799.
