Standard Xiaomi 18 may finally get a periscope telephoto lens in 2026

Xiaomi has yet to launch the Xiaomi 17 series in global markets, but the internet has already moved on. A new leak suggests that the Xiaomi 18 series could bring some long-awaited upgrades to the company’s core flagship lineup, especially for the standard model.

According to the Chinese tipster, Digital Chat Station, Xiaomi 18 series will finally standardize several high-end features across all models. These reportedly include a periscope telephoto camera, a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, wireless charging, and high-level waterproofing.

While the blogger didn’t directly name the devices, hints and follow-up discussion in the comments strongly suggest the leak refers to the Xiaomi 18 series.

A periscope lens on the standard model could make it all-round phone

More notable among all is the fact that even the standard model will have a periscope telephoto lens. This should allow the phone to have a longer optical zoom of up to 5x. Xiaomi 17, in comparison, has a standard telephoto lens with a 2.6x optical zoom.

Xiaomi 17

Meanwhile, Xiaomi executives are also hinting at ambitious plans for the Pro model. Wang Le, director of Xiaomi’s application software department, recently commented on Weibo about reports that Xiaomi spent over 1 billion yuan on the Xiaomi 17 Pro’s rear display.

He downplayed the figure, saying that such an amount is small compared to chip research and development, and added that the back screen on the next-generation phone (likely the Xiaomi 18 Pro) will definitely “not be canceled.”

Speaking of chip, it’s not hard to guess that the Xiaomi 18 series will be among the first to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 processor.

It’s only January, which means there are still many months to go before any official launch. As always with early leaks, plans could change — so it’s best to take these details with a pinch of salt.

Huawei has started selling the Watch Ultimate Design Royal Gold in Europe, expanding its luxury smartwatch lineup beyond China. The model was first introduced in late 2025 and later confirmed for a global rollout. It now joins the existing Watch Ultimate Design variant, which features a black and gold finish.

HUAWEI WATCH ULTIMATE DESIGN Royal Gold

The Watch Ultimate Design Royal Gold stands out with a purple and gold color scheme. The case is made from zirconium based liquid metal, a material Huawei says offers high durability while resisting corrosion and wear. The hollow case structure helps reduce overall weight despite the use of premium materials. The ceramic bezel includes both 18K and 24K gold accents, while the crown is plated with 18K gold. The watch face is protected by sapphire glass. Huawei bundles the watch with a purple and gold titanium alloy strap designed for long term durability.

The smartwatch features a 1.5 inch LTPO AMOLED display with high brightness for outdoor visibility. It supports eSIM, allowing users to make and receive calls directly from the watch without a phone. AI based noise reduction is built in to improve call clarity. Smart gesture controls let users answer calls, control apps, or trigger the camera remotely using hand movements.

HUAWEI WATCH ULTIMATE DESIGN Royal Gold

Health tracking is a major focus. The Watch Ultimate Design Royal Gold includes Huawei’s Health Glance feature, which generates a summary of 10 key health metrics in about 60 seconds. These include heart rate, blood oxygen, stress, and other core indicators. The watch also supports GPS navigation, local music storage, and activity tracking for sports such as running, cycling, and golf.

For extreme use, the smartwatch is rated for dives up to 150 meters. It includes a sonar based underwater communication feature that allows divers to send simple messages while submerged. Battery life varies by usage mode, with extended endurance options available for outdoor and dive activities.

Samsung Galaxy A57 full specifications emerge as it appears in TENAA’s database

Back in November 2025, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A57 with the model number SM-A5760 received approval from China’s 3C certification authority. Now, the same device has cleared the country’s TENAA certification platform, which has revealed its full set of key specifications ahead of launch. The listing offers a clearer picture of what Samsung is preparing for its next mid-range Galaxy A-series smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy A57 specifications (rumored)

Sasmsung Galaxy A56 (left) and Galaxy A36 (right)
Sasmsung Galaxy A56 (left) and Galaxy A36 (right)

As per the TENAA listing, the Galaxy A57 measures 161.5 x 76.8 x 6.9mm and weighs 182 grams, making it one of the slimmer phones in its segment. The device is listed with a 6.6-inch color display carrying a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. While TENAA does not explicitly confirm the panel type, support for 16 million colours hints at an AMOLED screen. The display is also integrated with an in-screen fingerprint sensor, which aligns with Samsung’s recent A-series design approach.

Under the hood, the Galaxy A57 is powered by an octa-core chipset featuring a tri-cluster CPU setup with clock speeds of up to 2.9GHz, 2.6GHz, and 1.95GHz. Although the processor name is not mentioned on TENAA, the phone was recently spotted on Geekbench with the same configuration, pointing towards the upcoming Exynos 1680 chipset.

The listing suggests that the device may launch in 8GB+256GB and 12GB+256GB variants. It is expected to ship with Android 16 and Samsung’s One UI 8 on top. Given that Samsung promised six major Android updates and six years of security patches for the Galaxy A56, the A57 is likely to receive a similar level of long-term software support.

In the battery department, TENAA confirms a 4,905mAh rated cell, which indicates a typical capacity of around 5,000mAh. Earlier 3C certification and a recent TUV listing have both revealed support for 45W fast charging.

For photography, the Galaxy A57 is listed with a 12-megapixel front-facing camera. The rear setup is said to include a 50-megapixel primary sensor, paired with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera and a 5-megapixel macro lens. A recent report suggested that it could be equipped with a Sony IMX906 primary sensor.

Samsung Galaxy A57 launch timeframe (expected)

The Samsung Galaxy S26 series is expected to debut by late February. With that in mind, the Galaxy A57 is likely to launch alongside the Galaxy A37 in the weeks leading up to Samsung’s next flagship announcement.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra debuted in China as the first next-gen “Ultra” branded phone. But it wasn’t alone, as the brand also unveiled the Xiaomi 17 Ultra Leica Edition for the photography enthusiasts. While other Ultra models like the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Vivo X300 Ultra, and Find X9 Ultra have yet to be released, Xiaomi’s 17 Ultra Leica Edition appears to be nearing its global launch.

OnePlus 13s Gets Game-Changing Bypass Charging Feature and 50 Million Pixel Photo Editing in OxygenOS 16.0.3.501

OnePlus is rolling out OxygenOS 16.0.3.501 for the OnePlus 13s in India. The update carries build number CPH2723_16.0.3.501(EX01) and is going out in batches.

OnePlus 13s alternatives

OnePlus 13s OxygenOS 16.0.3.501 Update features

The Photos app can now edit images up to 50 million pixels without losing quality. This is a major improvement for users working with high-resolution photos.

The update adds bypass charging. When you’re gaming, live streaming, watching videos, navigating, or doing other demanding tasks, you can plug in your charger and the phone will draw power directly from it instead of the battery. This keeps your battery healthy and reduces overheating during long sessions.

Drawer mode now includes “Office” and “Finance” categories to help you find apps faster. Private Safe has three new features. You can browse files using a side slider, search for files inside folders, and share files directly from Private Safe.

A new toggle lets you remove the SMS reply button from the incoming call screen. Find it in Contacts, then tap the three dots, go to Settings, then Answer/End calls, and look for Reply with SMS. The update also includes the January 2026 Android security patch.

The update is reaching a small group of users first. OnePlus will expand the rollout in a few days after monitoring the initial release. You can check for it manually in your system settings or wait for the notification.

OnePlus 11R OxygenOS 16.0.2.400 Update Rolling Out: Photos App Filters, Widget Stacking, Smart Sidebar Storage Cleanup, and January 2026 Security Patch

OnePlus has started rolling out a new software update for the OnePlus 11R in India. The update is OxygenOS 16.0.2.400, with build number CPH2487_16.0.2.400(EX01). Like usual, OnePlus is sending it to a small group of users first before expanding the rollout in the next few days.

OnePlus-11R

This update brings usability improvements, photo app upgrades, and system fixes instead of big visual changes. You can now open storage cleanup tools directly from the Smart Sidebar, which makes it faster to free up space. The Photos app gets several new features. When you crop or rotate portrait and architectural photos, you can use automatic straightening for quicker and more accurate edits.

Filtering photos is now more detailed. New filter options let you sort by Motion Photos, screenshots and screen recordings, and edited media. This helps when you’re going through a large photo library. OnePlus also improved how thumbnails load in the Photos app. They now load faster and scrolling through photos is smoother.

The home screen gets some small but useful updates. You can now stack 2×1 widgets to use space better. App clone icons can be resized by dragging them, you can add shortcuts to them, and you can rearrange these shortcut icons after resizing. These changes give you more flexibility in organizing your home screen.

Circle to Search works a bit differently now. Even if you hide the gesture navigation guide bar, you can still activate the feature by long-pressing the area where the bar normally sits.

On the security front, the update includes the January 2026 Android security patch. Privacy features also got better. You can now edit images and videos in Private Safe without unlocking them first. The Phone Manager app has a new prompt that lets you enable automatic blocklist updates over Wi-Fi or mobile data. This improves spam detection and protection.

OnePlus says this update is only for users already on OxygenOS 16. If you’re still on OxygenOS 15, you need to upgrade to that first before you can get this build.

Honor’s new $100 smartwatch offers industry-first cardiac arrest screening

Honor just had a big launch event to announce the Magic 8 Pro Air and Magic 8 RSR smartphones. Alongside them also came the Honor Watch GS 5 in two colors and 23-day battery life.

At first glance, the GS 5 looks like a fairly standard modern smartwatch. It has a slim 9.9mm body, weighs only 26 grams, and uses an aluminum alloy bezel paired with a genuine leather strap.

The display is a 1500-nit high-definition panel, and it’s a round dial with a knob on the right. It also includes features users now expect from a premium wearable, including independent GNSS positioning, NFC support, Bluetooth calling, offline music playback, and 5ATM plus IP68 water resistance.

Honor Watch GS 5 is a health-first smartwatch with cardiac arrest screening

What sets this model apart, at least according to Honor, is its emphasis on heart health. The company claims the Watch GS 5 is the industry’s only smart wearable that supports sudden cardiac arrest screening.

The device analyzes the vagus nerve’s ability to regulate heart rate using what Honor calls heart rate deceleration force detection. In simple terms, the watch tries to identify patterns that could indicate potential heart risks before they become serious.

Honor says this system doesn’t just collect data. High-risk users will also receive professional telephone follow-ups from a partnered research team to offer guidance based on the results.

The watch also supports broader heart health monitoring through Honor Heart Health Research. It can screen for suspected atrial fibrillation, premature beats, sleep apnea, and irregular heart rhythms. Alongside those specialized features, the GS 5 offers standard 24/7 tracking for heart rate, blood oxygen, stress levels, and sleep quality with HRV analysis.

Moreover, Honor says it has worked with Professor Gu Dongfeng’s (Chinese epidemiologist and preventive cardiologist) research team to build a cardiovascular and cerebrovascular risk assessment model tailored for Chinese users.

The system is based on established biomedical models and delivers personalized risk evaluations and recommendations rather than generic scores.

Rest of the Specs and Price

The GS 5 packs a 495mAh silicon-carbon anode battery, which Honor says can last up to 23 days on a single charge when used in Bluetooth mode. Even with the always-on display enabled, the company promises up to nine days of usage, which is far beyond what most smartwatches currently manage.

On the software side, the device includes Honor’s YOYO smart assistant. It can provide reminders for upcoming flights or train trips, show real-time notifications, display taxi license plate numbers with a simple wrist raise, and track food or package deliveries.

The Honor Watch GS 5 is available in China at 699 yuan (~ $100).

Honor Magic 8 RSR launches with 200MP telephoto, 2.35x teleconverter, CIPA 6.5 stabilization, and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5

Honor has launched the Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design, its latest flagship smartphone created in partnership with Porsche Design. The device will go on sale in China at 10:08 AM on January 23.

The Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design follows the design direction seen in earlier RSR models, with a strong focus on materials and visual identity. Honor says the phone takes inspiration from Porsche’s flowing lines, particularly around the rear camera area. It will be available in Slate Gray and Moonstone finishes. The back panel uses a microcrystalline nano-ceramic material, which the company claims is more durable than conventional glass, with a Mohs hardness rating of 8.5. Honor also says the device is about 10% lighter than previous RSR models.

Honor Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design specifications:

Under the hood, the phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. Configurations go up to 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of storage. On the durability side, the phone features Honor’s Giant Rhino glass on the front, along with IP68 and IP69K ratings for dust and water resistance.

As for imaging, the Magic 8 RSR Porsche Design includes a 50MP 1/1.3-inch main sensor with OIS, a 50MP ultra-wide, and a 200MP 1/1.4-inch telephoto sensor offering 3.7x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom. Honor’s AiMAGE system handles color processing and sensor fusion, while stabilization is rated at CIPA 6.5, aimed at improving handheld shots in low light.

A 2.35x teleconverter extends the telephoto range to 200mm-5400mm

Honor is also offering an optional photography kit, which adds a magnetic grip, a filter adapter, and an external telephoto lens designed for longer-range shooting.

Other features include satellite communication support, ultrasonic fingerprint recognition, 3D face unlock, and a 7,200mAh battery with 120W wired and 80W wireless charging. The phone runs MagicOS 10, with Porsche Design-specific themes and interface elements.

Pricing starts at 7,999 yuan for the 16GB + 512GB variant, rising to 8,999 yuan for the 24GB + 1TB model.

OnePlus 16 leak: 200Hz display, 200MP telephoto, 9000mAh battery

After the launch of the OnePlus 15 in October, the company is reportedly preparing to launch a compact alternative in the form of the OnePlus 15T. But we’re already moving past that, thanks to new leaks coming out of China.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the OnePlus 16 could feature a 200MP periscope telephoto camera. That would be a significant upgrade from the 50MP telephoto sensor found on the OnePlus 15, if true.

The tipster also adds that the camera will use a much larger sensor—we suspect in the 1/1.x-inch range—compared to the current model’s relatively modest 1/2.76-inch sensor.

OnePlus 16 could also have 200Hz display, 9000mAh battery

Even more interesting is the claim that OnePlus is testing a 200Hz display. The company only recently leaned hard into 165Hz refresh rates with the OnePlus 15, so jumping straight to 200Hz is kind of crazy to think about. That said, even if the hardware is capable, apps would also need to support such high refresh rates to fully take advantage of it.

Another tidbit comes from a separate Weibo tipster who goes by the alias Old Chen Air. The insider claims that the OnePlus 16’s Glacier battery will have a massive 9,000mAh capacity. For context, the OnePlus 15 tops out at 7,300mAh.

Taken together, the rumored specs suggest OnePlus is pushing hard on nearly every front with its next flagship. And that’s before factoring in the expected generational performance gains from Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset.

Of course, the OnePlus 16 is still months away from launch, and plans can change during development. As with all early leaks, it’s best to take these details with a healthy dose of skepticism.

OnePlus 15T launch timeline tipped for mid-March

OnePlus‘ upcoming compact flagship has just surfaced in another leak. This time around, we got more details of its expected release timeline. The latest info regarding the OnePlus 15T arrives from a known Chinese tipster, so here’s everything we know so far.

Here’s when the OnePlus 15T may debut

According to Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the Chinese brand is expected to release the OnePlus 15T sometime in the middle of March. Keep in mind that this is for the China release, while its global variant rumored to be cancelled. To recall, its predecessor, the OnePlus 13T, was announced in China last year and later debuted as the OnePlus 13s in markets like India.

Based on what we know so far, the OnePlus 15T is expected to feature a 6.31-inch to 6.32-inch flat OLED display with a high refresh rate (potentially 165Hz), and a dual50 MP camera setup on the back. This chip might be paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage. Despite its compact size, the OnePlus 15T is expected to pack a massive 7,000mah+ battery pack that likely supports super fast wired charging.

The company will likely position this as a powerful compact phone that also packs the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Digital Chat Station previously revealed that this model may even offer wireless charging support, a telephoto shooter, water resistance, and a 3D ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner. While pricing and specific release dates, the mid-March release has a similar release timeline as the OnePlus 13T. This is still just an unconfirmed report, so take this news with a pinch of salt.

Redmi is comparing its 9,000mAh battery to Honor’s 10,000mAh model in a livestream

Redmi wants to talk about the battery life of the upcoming Turbo 5 Max. And it is doing so in a livestream scheduled for tomorrow.

The company announced on its official Weibo account that it will hold a “Turbo 5 Max Battery Endurance Challenge” tomorrow at 9 AM. The event will be live on Xiaomi’s official site, Weibo handle, and Douyin (Chinese TikTok)

According to Redmi, the event will be a head-to-head comparison test featuring phones in the same general price category. The brand is calling it the first “test to death” live stream of 2026. Quite dramatic, but okay.

The Turbo 5 Max features a 9000mAh battery. It’s the biggest battery phone from not just Redmi but Xiaomi as a whole, and the company really wants to show its prowess.

Redmi vs Honor

Redmi claims its new phone can go up against competing phones that advertise 9,000mAh and even 10,000mAh capacities. For those unaware, phones from Honor (Power 2 / Win / Win RT) are the only ones with a 10,000mAh cell.

According to Xiaomi President Lu Weibing, the phone should comfortably last a full day even under heavy use. Xiaomi also claims this battery reaches an energy density of 894Wh/L, which the company says is the highest in its industry.

Beyond the battery, there isn’t much official information yet. According to reports, the phone will be priced around 2,500 yuan, roughly $360

It is expected to come with a 1.5K OLED LTPS display and support for 100W fast charging. Powering the device is a Dimensity 9500s chipset that scored an impressive 3.29 million points on Geekbench.  It has also appeared on Geekbench with 16GB of RAM and Android 16.

As for cameras, the device will likely ship with a 50MP wide and 8MP ultrawide combo on the back.

Redmi has not revealed an official launch date yet, but you can expect it to launch in late January or early February.
