Google Pixel Buds App Reveals Incoming Spatial Audio With Head Tracking Update For The Buds Pro

The last update for Google Pixel Buds Pro arrived in October last year. Last month, Google released native support for spatial audio for the Pixel 6 and 7 series smartphones. Now, 9to5Google has spotted the update for the search giant’s TWS earphones in the latest version of the Google Pixel Buds app. Google has previously confirmed that the Pixel Buds Pro will support spatial audio.

Spatial Audio offers a 360-degree surround sound experience with a broader field of clear and natural sound. Additionally, head tracking support makes spatial audio more responsive to the user’s movements.

Coming to the 9to5Google’s report, the publication discovered new settings page for spatial audio in the Google Pixel Buds app. On Pixel phones, the option is located on the earphone’s ‘Device Details’ page. Users will be able to easily enable or disable both the spatial audio and head tracking features. Google has included a demo video into the app’s settings above the two toggles to preview what enabling the feature sounds like. This will allow users to decide whether spatial audio and head tracking features are right for them.

Additionally, a disclaimer at the bottom of the menu reveals that the feature only works with supported content. The spatial audio and head-tracking feature could be made available via a firmware update for the Pixel Buds Pro. It is tipped to arrive as a part of the Pixel Buds Pro Feature Drop update sometime next month.

To recall, the Pixel Buds Pro debuted in May last year. They come with ANC, transparency mode, an 11mm driver, and 11 hours of battery life.

Some Samsung Galaxy S23 Users Struggle with Android Auto Issues

The Samsung Galaxy S23 series was recently unveiled at the Unpacked event, and One UI 5.1 was also launched along with the smartphones. However, as always, new hardware and software come with some errors. It looks like Android Auto is stalling out for some Samsung Galaxy S23 owners. Here are the details…

Samsung Galaxy S23 Users Encounter Android Auto Issues

The sales of the Samsung Galaxy S23 series have started. As expected, the performance and capabilities of the phones are at a flagship level. However, some users are reporting issues with the Android Auto feature. According to reports on Reddit and Google support forums, some Galaxy S23 users are having trouble syncing their devices with their cars wirelessly, and Bluetooth pairing is automatically failing after the vehicle is disabled.

Android Auto

Some users are also reporting missing permissions that prevent their phones from connecting properly. It should be noted that this issue does not affect all Galaxy S23 users. While many people report being able to use all features without any problems, a substantial number of users are experiencing issues. This suggests that the problem may be related to the software. Additionally, this is not the first time that Samsung has faced issues with Android Auto.

The Galaxy S22 series had similar complaints when it was launched last year, with issues related to wired and wireless connections leading to a black image on in-car displays. Although a fix was rolled out on beta channels in May, it took until August for the patch to reach all affected devices. It is unclear what is causing the issues with Android Auto on the Galaxy S23 series, but it is hoped that both Samsung and Google will work to resolve the issue quickly.

It would be beneficial for Samsung to act promptly on this issue, particularly considering the high price of the phone. When users pay a premium price for an exceptional experience, they may choose to switch to another brand for their next phone if their expectations are not met. Currently, one of Samsung’s most significant challenges is flagship sales.

Although the company is a leader in entry-level and mid-range models, it falls behind Apple in premium phone sales. Regrettably, these problems with their new models, and possible delays in fixing them, will only exacerbate the situation for the South Korean tech giant.

Apple Leads China Smartphone Market in January 2023

It seems that the smartphone market in China is off to a good start in the beginning of 2023. The region saw robust sales in the first month of this year, with Apple taking the lead in the smartphone segment.

Apple

According to a Counterpoint Research report, January marked a good start for 2023 in the Chinese market. This followed just after the COVID-19 wave in December 2022 and also records a good momentum going into the new year. In the first month, the sales were quickly increased week over week to hit over 7 million units before the week of the Chinese New Year season.

During this period, the Cupertino based giant retained its throne as the top brand in terms of sales share. Furthermore, the company also saw a rise of about 6 percent year on year. While the overall market’s growth in January wasn’t much higher than the previous year, it is still good news considering the state of the market weeks prior. The rise in sales also hints that the smartphone market in China is recovering from the latest Coronavirus outbreaks.

Apple

Despite the positive trend so far, the industry is still unsure that the strong sales in the first month will carry forward or whether it truly shows a recovering market. Analysts believe that the market might have seen a boom after pent up demand leading up to the Chinese New Year season.

Samsung Files Patent for Galaxy Watch With In-Built Projector

Since its introduction, smartwatches have advanced significantly, and Samsung has been at the forefront of innovation in this field. A recent patent application filed by the tech giant raises the possibility of a future Galaxy Watch with an integrated projector. These smartwatches may soon be introduced to the market, and we may even have the opportunity to use one.

According to the patent application, the projector will be built within the watch strap, making it simple to operate and practical for users who are constantly on the go. The patent also implies that the watch will have a variety of sensors that can detect surfaces and automatically change the projected image’s focus and orientation.

Samsung Patent

The patent schematics also show a number of lenses and LEDs arranged in two rows that would enable the Galaxy Watch’s built-in projector to project an image or piece of material onto the hand without any distortion. However, for the image to be correctly presented, your wrist might need to be absolutely straight. To be quite honest, this might very well be one of the inventions that businesses submit out of the blue and be a part of their extensive patent portfolio.

Samsung Patent

Samsung is allowing for more immersive content in the filing that is less suited to the limitations of the wristwatch screen. It states that “information that is displayed on the projection display may differ from information displayed on the display module.” It suggests that, for example, a useful method of viewing films transmitted through chat apps may finally exist. Perhaps video calling could be made possible with the addition of a camera module.

By the time this technology matures, we may get to see further modifications and changes being done to the smartwatch. So that concludes our post on the patent filed by Samsung regarding their Galaxy Watch. What do you think about this? Do let us know by dropping a comment in your words down below. Thanks a lot for reading the post till the end.

Twitter Is Now Advertising for Cannabis Based Companies

Twitter is apparently planning on making some changes to its advertising policies. The company is set to allow cannabis companies to promote their brand and services on the popular platform.

According to the microblogging website’s new blogpost, “Going forward, Twitter is allowing advertisers to promote brand preference and informational cannabis related content for CBD, THC, and cannabis related products and services”. In other words, the companies that sell products related to cannabis and other related items can freely advertise on the social media giant’s platform. Although, there will still be some restrictions on what you can or cannot advertise.

As per a separate report, the advertisements are restricted from directly promoting or even offering the sale of cannabis itself. However, there are some exceptions to certain types of CBD based products. Apart from this, there will even be restrictions based on age and location to limit who sees the ads related to cannabis. This new shift in policy is one of the latest changes on Twitter after the company got acquired by billionaire Tesla CEO, Elon Musk.

In the official announcement, the Twitter hinted that cannabis companies could use their platform to reach a broader audience. It also added that conversations related to cannabis is “larger than the conversation around topics such as pets, cooking, and golf, as well as food and beverage categories including fast food, coffee, and liquor.”

Google CEO Sundar Pichai Seeks Employee Help to Improve AI Chatbot Bard

Google recently announced Bard, an AI chatbot that will rival ChatGPT. Everyone was eagerly awaiting the company’s new technology. However, what happened during the launch disappointed everyone. The whole world saw that the US technology giant was behind OpenAI in the field of artificial intelligence, and Bard was not ready yet. Lastly, in an attempt to turn the situation around, CEO Sundar Pichai sent a memo to all his employees, asking them to take two to four hours out of their day to make its search AI actually usable. Here are the details…

Google’s CEO Tells Staff to Spend Hours Working Out ‘Bard’ AI Kinks

Following the disastrous wrong answer from Bard, Google’s shares fell, and the company lost $100 billion in value. In the field of artificial intelligence, which everyone considers the future, Google lagged behind, and it wants to change that. Therefore, the new plan is to direct all employees to the artificial intelligence project. According to a leaked internal email, Google is asking all of its employees to spend two to four hours of their day testing Google’s “Bard” AI, the same system the company plans to integrate into its chat function.

In the email he sent, Pichai emphasized the importance of working together and asked his employees to contribute to the development of artificial intelligence. He stated, “Next week, we’ll be enlisting every Googler to help shape Bard and contribute through a special company-wide ‘dogfooding’ program.” “Dogfooding” is a term used within companies to refer to a practice that involves using one’s own product before launching it. He added, “We’re looking forward to receiving all of your feedback — in the spirit of an internal hackathon.

Unfortunately, we do not have information such as the entire email and how many Google employees received it. Although the company recently announced 12,000 job cuts to its global workforce, Google, excluding its parent company Alphabet, still employs over 170,000 people worldwide. Of course, not all of these employees are suitable for the job, but a significant number of them are software developers.
