The Xiaomi 13S Ultra is tipped to feature Leica-branded cameras similar to the other Xiaomi 13 models. Past reports suggest that the Xiaomi 13S Ultra will have a new periscope camera that is claimed to shock everyone with its performance. OnePlus Nord 3 testing might have begun under codename Larry

While OnePlus initially launched only flagship phones during its initial years, it soon branched to mid range models to better appeal to a broader audience. Now, the latest entry in its Nord series might be in the works.

According to a new report, the Chinese smartphone maker is already working on a new successor called the Nord 3. Apparently, the device is currently under testing in India and carries the codename ‘Larry.’ In other words, this basically means that the new mid range smartphone will also enter into mass production soon, with its launch following after. As per the report, the brand might be announcing the Nord 3 model sometime in July 2023, since the older models were also released around the same period last year.

OnePlus
Nord 2T

Unfortunately, finer details regarding this handset is still unknown. Although, we can expect it to offer various improvements over the last generation. The Nord 2T was the last Nord series phone to launch in India and features a 6.43 inch AMOLED display with a FHD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. It was powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 1300 SoC and featured a triple camera setup on the rear with the primary camera being a Sony IMX766 sensor.

So, we can expect the company to opt for a newer generation MediaTek chipset with the successor as well as some improvements in the camera department as well. It is also likely that the brand only offers an incremental upgrade along with an overhauled design for the Nord series. Keep in mind that this is still just speculation so take this news with a pinch of salt and stick around for more updates.

Microsoft won’t discontinue Surface Duo 2 any time soon despite stock issues

The Microsoft Surface Duo 2 has recently been out of stock almost everywhere in the US. This prompted many to assume that the company has finally discontinued this device. However, it appears that the product is still alive.

The American tech giant’s dual display handset was out of stock in many stores, with Best Buy locations having no inventory left. Meaning, there were rumors of new Surface Duo 2 not being produced by the brand. But now, the company has officially confirmed otherwise, stating that “We are aware supply is currently falling short of demand in several markets. While we do not have inventory information to share at present, Surface Duo remains an important part of the Surface portfolio.”

This basically means that it has no plans of discontinuing the product any time soon despite facing issues with inventory. For those unaware, new Surface Duo 2 models have been difficult to find for months now. Microsoft had initially claimed that the component shortages were the primary reason behind this. But despite stock issues, the company still seems dedicated towards its Android offerings, with Surface Duo 2 owners also receiving new software features and updates, with more planned to roll out later this year.

As per sources close to the matter, the company is also working on a third generation Surface Android phone at the moment. However, finer details regarding this device is still at large. Apple Could Soon Open its First Physical Store in India

Apple could soon open its first physical stores in India, according to a report by The Financial Times. Apple has already started hiring to fill out these stores, with job listings for 12 retail roles at “various locations” throughout the country, including store leaders, senior managers, Genius Bar workers, and more.

At least five employees located in Mumbai and New Delhi have already been hired for the upcoming stores, according to The Financial Times. Apple is also reportedly working on a 10,000 to 12,000-square-foot store in New Delhi, along with several other stores in the country, but it is unclear when they will open.

Apple first made its online store available to customers in India in 2020, with CEO Tim Cook hinting at the possibility of establishing a physical presence in the country during a shareholder meeting around the same time. While Cook initially said that Apple would open its first store in India in 2021, these plans were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and were pushed back a second time last year.

As Apple looks to expand its retail footprint in India, it is also bringing more production to the country. Apple first started making iPhones in India in 2017 and shifted production of the iPhone 14 from China to India following its release.

With Apple looking to distance itself from China for political reasons and cut costs amid rough economic conditions, India may be becoming an increasingly attractive manufacturing hub. It has cheaper manufacturing costs than both China and Vietnam, and a massive smartphone market that Apple has only just begun to tap into.

OnePlus 7 and 7T Series Reach End of Life, Will Not Receive Further Updates

Software updates are very important for Android users. These updates allow the phone you bought years ago to gain new features, perform better, and be more secure. Unfortunately, not every phone receives updates for a long time and some lose support. Finally, the OnePlus 7 and 7T series have joined the list of phones that have lost update support. Here are the details…

No More Updates for OnePlus 7, 7 Pro 7T, and 7T Pro

OnePlus has announced that its OnePlus 7 and 7T series, which were launched in 2019, will no longer receive any new updates. The company made the announcement by silently editing the previous update information for the devices on its community forum, rather than making a public announcement. This has disappointed some users who were expecting the devices to receive two Android OS upgrades and an additional year of security upgrades, as per OnePlus’ previous software update policy for smartphones. The OxygenOS 12 update is the last build that the OnePlus 7 and 7T series will receive.

OnePlus 7T and OnePlus 7

In July 2021, the company announced that all of its devices above the OnePlus 8 series will receive three major Android updates and four years of security updates. However, the OnePlus 7 and 7T series were not included in this announcement. Previously, the company had committed to two years of major Android updates and an additional year of only security updates for the 7 and 7T series.

The OxygenOS 12 MP3 update is the last build that the OnePlus 7/7T series have received. While the official update cycle for the OnePlus 7 and 7T series has ended, it is still possible to upgrade these devices using custom ROMs, but this should only be done with a thorough understanding of the process and by experts. Here’re the versions of the update that the OnePlus 7, 7 Pro, 7T, and 7T Pro received in the end.

Motorola Defy 5G to launch soon with satellite messaging feature

Motorola is apparently gearing up to launch a new smartphone, but it isn’t like its usual offering. The Defy 5G is a rugged smartphone that is being built in collaboration with another brand and will offer a unique system for satellite messaging. Here are all the details.

The company is partnering with British phone maker Bullitt Group to build this new rugged phone. Interestingly enough, this firm has also worked with CAT for their rugged phones as well. Last year, it had announced that it has plans to launch the world’s first smartphone that will feature a two way satellite messaging. This device in question will be the Motorola Defy 5G. Bullitt has been developing this technology by working with the a known chipmaker and a satellite network infrastructure partner for the past two years.

Motorola

This will enable the upcoming handset to seamlessly switch between cellular, WiFi, and satellite connectivity. The feature is dubbed as the Bullitt Satellite Connect and is a collaborative effort with Bullitt, MediaTek, and Skylo. If the device can’t connect via a WiFi or a cellular as usual, Bullitt’s messaging system will connect through a satellite. Notably, anyone on the receiving end will get a regular SMS on their phones and can even respond by using the Bullitt Satellite Messenger app.

While finer details are not known, Bullitt stated that “the cost of the messages will be deducted from the satellite messaging subscriber’s plan with no cost to the recipient.” The subscription plans to start from as low as 4.99 US Dollars per month and the SOS Assistance but will be free for the first year. The Motorola Defy 5G rugged phone’s pricing is also unclear right now, but the announcement is likely to be sometime in the first quarter of 2023.

The Vivo Y100 will also run Android 13 out of the box and will have 7.37GB of available RAM, potentially indicating that it will come with 8GB of RAM.

The Google Play Console listing reveals that the Vivo Y100 will have a 1080 x 2400 resolution display with 440 PPI, which suggests it will have a 6-inch display. It will also have an OpenGL version of 3.2. The listing also shows a mini view of the front of the device, which appears to have a water-drop notch and a chin under the display. However, it’s worth noting that this could be a stock image and not an actual photo of the smartphone.

The Vivo Y100 has also appeared on the BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) website, which confirms its model number (V2239) and suggests that it may be launching in India soon. It looks like the Vivo Y100 is shaping up to be a mid-range smartphone with decent specifications, including a powerful processor and a high-resolution display. With appearances on multiple listing websites, it’s likely that the launch of this device is imminent. Unfortunately we don’t have a release date yet, but stay tuned for it…

Honor Magic 5 Design Leak Shows Center-Aligned Camera Module With Three Sensors

Honor is gearing up to launch its next-generation Honor Magic 5 series of smartphones in its home country China which is expected to go official by the end of next month.

Now, ahead of the official launch of the Honor Magic 5, the upcoming smartphone’s design has been leaked online through tipster @SPinfoJP, revealing the phone’s back panel in multiple colors.

The leaked renders of the Honor Magic 5 confirms that the device will continue to adopt the center-aligned circular camera module consisting of three camera sensors aligned in a triangular pattern. One of the sensors in the setup is a periscope telephoto lens, and the module also has an LED flash.

There’s 100X written on the camera module, which means that the phone will have support for 100x zoom. Honor CEO Zhao Ming had previously stated that the Magic 5 series would be built as a high-end flagship with a leading camera, communication, and security.

As per the leaks, the smartphone is expected to feature a 6.8-inch display with support for PWM dimming and offer a high refresh rate, most likely 120Hz. Under the hood, the device will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, but the memory details have not been revealed yet.

The phone, which will be rated IP68 for water and dust resistance, will run the Android operating system out-of-the-box with the company’s own Magic UI on top. It will come with support for 100W fast charging and 50W wireless charging. We expect to know more details about the smartphone in the coming weeks.

Huawei Mate 40E Pro 5G

As per a reliable tipster/dealer, the once world’s largest smartphone maker is expected to restock the Huawei Mate 40E Pro 5G. This handset was thought to be wholly sold out up until now. But apparently, the company seems to have a few units in stock somewhere.

The dealer has also revealed the price of the device. The phone will be available in two colors, such as white and black. The 8GB + 256GB and 8GB + 512GB memory variants of the white color model will retail at ¥5,399 and ¥5,799, respectively. Apple’s 15-Inch MacBook Air Rumored To Launch Later This Year

Apple has been working on revamping its MacBook Air lineup by introducing two new models, including a smaller 12-inch model and a larger 15-inch model.

Now, a new report from Mark Gurman of Bloomberg claims that the 12-inch model isn’t coming this year, but the 15-inch MacBook Air is expected to go official later this year.

As of now, not much has been revealed about this upcoming 15-inch MacBook Air. However, display analyst Ross Young had previously said that Apple would start production of 15.5-inch display panels for the MacBook Air in the first quarter of 2023. If the timeline remains unchanged, then the device could be officially released as soon as this spring.

Coming to the design, we do not expect the company to launch a redesigned model, given that the MacBook Air was recently updated. So, the device will pretty much have the same design as the current models.

Internally, the laptop could be powered by the M2 chip or the M2 Pro processor, which Apple has not yet announced. The new M2 series chips are expected to be announced soon, which will power a few more Mac devices this year.

The 12-inch MacBook Air, which was previously stated to launch this year or in 2024, is no longer in the company’s short-term plans, which means that the device isn’t coming anytime soon.
