Nothing Phone (1) will initially be sold to limited people through an Invite system

Nothing Phone (1) is scheduled to launch on July 12 in an event called “Return to Instinct”. However, getting your hands on the phone will be rather difficult, even after the launch. This is because Nothing is planning to follow the footsteps of OnePlus and will initially sell the Phone (1) through invites only. Carl Pei himself confirmed this in the latest video showcasing the design and manufacturing process.

Nothing recently shared a new video on its YouTube channel that details the design of the phone and its manufacturing process, also letting us know that recycled aluminum is used for manufacturing the phone. However, towards the end of the video, it is revealed that Nothing Phone (1) will undergo an invite system for initial sales (Via XDA).

Nothing’s co-founder Carl Pei is no stranger to the hype train and invitation-only approach. He did the same thing in his last venture, OnePlus. The Invite system will allow the start-up to sell its products faster and also get them into the hands of the people that “deserve” it most.

In the video, Pei explains that since Nothing is small, it neither has the ability nor the resources to mass-produce millions of smartphones for sale in one go. Pei states that Nothing had two options: delay the sale and stock up more units or sell the phone (1) right off the production line. And as you know, Nothing chose to go with the latter since it’s also a good PR opportunity.

Pei further adds that the company learned a lesson from the Nothing Ear (1). He says that the company was only able to sell the hearable once a week and it would immediately sell like hotcakes. So, the team didn’t want the same thing to be repeated and decided to go for an invite system for the upcoming phone.

The Nothing Phone (1) was recently spotted on Geekbench, which revealed the smartphone will be powered by a Snapdragon 778+ SoC paired with 8GB RAM. The process is no match to the latest Snapdragon 8 gen processors and will give a mediocre performance. Nothing Phone (1)’s future now depends solely on the price and software.

Poco F4 5G will arrive with 2-year warranty in India: Official

A few hours from now, Poco will launch the Poco F4 5G in India and other international markets. Ahead of that, the new India head of the brand made an announcement regarding the phone’s warranty in the country last night. Let’s check out what he has to say.

POCO F4 5G
Poco F4 5G

Recently, Poco appointed Himanshu Tandon as the new Country Head of India. Last night, the executive tweeted a video talking about the warranty for two smartphones.

He revealed that the upcoming Poco F4 5G will arrive with a 2-year warranty in India. For the unaware, unlike the EU where a 2-year warranty is a norm, companies in India only provide a single-year warranty. This makes the Poco F4 5G an exception.

Additionally, the exec announced that the brand has extended the warranty of the Poco X3 Pro by 6 months. The extended warranty period is applicable to all buyers. The device debuted in March 2021, and therefore, even the units that were bought soon after the launch are still under warranty.

Talking about the Poco F4 5G, the upcoming smartphone is marketed as the successor of the Poco F1 in India. But the F1 was an original handset, whereas the F4 5G is merely a rebranded Redmi K40S with a different primary camera.

Interested readers can watch the Poco F4 5G launch event later today at 5:30 PM IST on YouTube.

Nothing Phone (1) Listed on Geekbench with Snapdragon 778+ Soc and 8GB RAM

As we get closer to the launch of Nothing’s first-generation smartphone, more details about it begin to emerge. The latest news involves the phone’s chipset and RAM capacity which both surfaced in a new listing. Nothing Phone (1) has been listed on the Geekbench benchmarking site, which reveals the smartphone will be powered by a Snapdragon 778+ processor paired with 8GB of RAM.

As initially spotted by the Folks at MySmartPrice, Nothing Phone (1) has paid a visit to the Geekbench site. The listing suggests Nothing Phone (1) will have Snapdragon 778+ under the hood. It can be seen that the phone’s chipset bears the “Lahaina” codename and features a maximum clock speed of 2.52GHz which should be for the single performance core. We can also see an additional trio of cores clocked at 2.40Ghz and four power-efficient cores running at 1.80GHz.

Nothing-Phone-1-A063-Geekbench

The Snapdragon 778+ chip is an upgrade over the standard 778. It ups the Kryo 670 Prime clock speed from 2.4Hz to 2.5 GHz. It also boosts the Adreno 642L by 20%.

The Nothing Phone (1) in the listing is equipped with 8GB RAM and boots Android 12. It will have a NothingOS skin on top. The smartphone was spotted on the Geekbench website with 797 points in the single-core test and 2803 in the multi-core test.

The processor indicates that the Phone (1) will be an ordinary mid-ranger in terms of performance. It will likely be priced the same as OnePlus Nord devices. The processor is definitely going to disappoint those who were expecting better performance. Anyways, it will be interesting to see how many sales a transparent back and LED lights are going to drive.

Nothing Phone (1) will be unveiled on July 12 in an event called “Return to instinct”. The smartphone will likely come in a single white color and likely be priced under $380.

Realme GT Neo 3T vs OnePlus 10R: Specs Comparison

We recently watched the launch of the Realme GT Neo 3 series in the global market. Unlike the GT Neo 2, the new lineup is composed of two devices including the Realme GT Neo 3T: a more affordable variant for those who still want great performance but can not afford the vanilla version. The Realme GT Neo 3 is essentially a GT Neo 2 with more updated software and faster charging. Meanwhile, in India, a new flagship killer recently made its debut: the OnePlus 10R. It is simply a rebrand of the device known in China as the OnePlus Ace and it offers amazing performance at a very affordable price just like the new GT. Here is a comparison between the specifications of the Realme GT Neo 3 and the OnePlus 10R which will help you to find the best flagship killer for your needs.

Design

Both these phones come with an original design. To be accurate, the only original thing on the Realme GT Neo 3T is the texture: the Dash Yellow color variant comes with a checkered texture on the rear side reminding of races. But it also comes in a special edition dedicated to Dragon Ball Z, recently launched in the European market as well, and with the colors of Kakarot’s clothes. On the other hand, the OnePlus 10R comes with an original form factor including a square-shaped camera module, flat borders, and a texture made of vertical lines. My favorite design is the one of the Dragon Ball Z Edition of the GT Neo 3T. Which design do you like more between the Realme GT Neo 3T and the OnePlus 10R?

Display

On the paper, it looks like the OnePlus 10R has a better display. It comes with an AMOLED panel showing up to one billion colors with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and the HDR10+ certification. The Realme GT Neo 3T has an AMOLED display too with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and the HDR10+, but it looks like it is able to show just 16 million colors. Due to better color reproduction, the OnePlus 10R seems to offer a superior display experience. Anyway, these displays are very good, even though they are not the best out there, especially because they lack a Quad HD+ resolution and an adaptive refresh rate. Both the displays come with an in-display fingerprint reader and both the phones are equipped with stereo speakers.

Specs & Software

If your goal is to get the highest performance for your games or advanced usage scenarios, then the OnePlus 10R is definitely the best choice for you. It is powered by the octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 8100 Max mobile platform by MediaTek (an upgraded version of the Dimensity 8100 with better AI capabilities), built at 5 nm and running at a max frequency of 2.85 GHz. The SoC is paired with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 internal storage. The Realme GT Neo 3 is fueled by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 running at 3.2 GHz, which is an inferior processor and it is paired with just 8 GB of RAM. Both the phones feature 5G connectivity, as well as Android 12 out of the box customized by similar user interfaces.

Camera

The most advanced camera phone in this comparison is the OnePlus 10R for a single reason: it has a better main camera. Its rear side houses a triple camera setup composed of a 50 MP Sony IMX766 sensor with OIS, an 8 MP ultrawide camera, and a 2 MP macro camera. On the front, it sports a 16 MP selfie snapper. The Realme GT Neo 3T has exactly the same sensors with the exception of the main rear camera, replaced by an inferior 64 MP shooter and without OIS.

Battery

Both these phones are equipped with a battery sporting a capacity of 5000 mAh. There are no important differences in terms of battery life, but the OnePlus 10R should last a bit more in several scenarios because the processor is built with a better production process (5 nm instead of 7 nm). In each case, you get 80W fast wired charging, so the charging speeds are exactly the same because the charging technology is the same.

Price

The OnePlus 10R carries a starting price of Rs. 38,999 or $499 in India, while the starting price of the Realme GT Neo 3T in the Indian peninsula is Rs. 29,999 or $384. The OnePlus 10R wins this specs comparison because it sports a better display, a superior chipset, and even a better rear camera. But the Realme GT Neo 3T carries a high value for money due to its more affordable price.

Huawei may soon introduce blood sugar & lung function tracking on its smartwatches

Huawei will soon introduce some important functions into its smartwatches. The new functionalities include blood sugar monitoring, lung function tracking, and high-altitude health management. These features and more will be incorporated into Huawei’s TruSeen system for health monitoring.HUAWEI WATCH 3 RUNNER-featured

Huawei smartwatches have longer battery lives than some of the popular brands in the market. For example, the Huawei Watch GT 3 Pro boasts a 14-day battery life unlike some models with just 24 hours of battery life. The new health and fitness additions to upcoming Huawei smartwatches will further accentuate their standing.

The information on new features for Huawei’s smart wearables was divulged by the company recently. Huawei is reportedly working on developing hyperglycemic risk screening and glucose level trend assessment functionality in its smartwatches. This will also come with an early warning notification system when potential issues are flagged.

There seems to be a race by smartwatch manufacturers for the first smartwatch to have a non-invasive blood glucose monitoring feature. Huawei has thus signaled its pursuit of that record. The lung function tracking system will predict the user’s risk of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary disease using a combination of collected data.

The high-altitude health management system will inform users how their bodies are reacting to high altitudes with the resulting low air pressure. Huawei has not put any timelines for the actualization of these features. It is already in the race to produce the first smartwatch with non-invasive blood glucose monitoring.

OnePlus 10T allegedly beats OnePlus 10 Pro in gaming, testing begins in India

OnePlus is gearing up to soon launch the OnePlus 10T smartphone. So far, it has been subject to a couple of render leaks and a specification leak which revealed that the device will come with the new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset.

OnePlus-10_-10T-5G

Now, tipster Yogesh Brar has revealed the gaming benchmarks of the smartphone which show it performing better that the OnePlus 10 Pro. According to the tipster, the OnePlus 10T (CPH2413), which will be an upper mid-range device, managed 57 FPS on average while playing Genshin impact at extreme settings. If we compare it to the OnePlus 10 Pro, the flagship manages 55 FPS on average with the same settings.

This is to be expected as the upcoming OnePlus 10T comes with the improved Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. What’s impressive about this feat is that the smartphone manages to achieve a better average FPS while also maintaining a cooler average temperature. According to the tipster, the device reached temperatures between 43-46° during this test whereas the OnePlus 10 Pro reached temps between 45-49°. It appears that Qualcomm’s claims about the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 offering better performance and better thermals are indeed true. This can be credited to the fact that the chip is made on TCMC’s 4nm node whereas the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset is made on Samsung’s 4nm process.

Other than that, tipster Mukul Sharma has also revealed that the OnePlus 10T is currently being tested in India. He also informs that the device will come in 8GB + 128GB and 12GB + 256GB configurations, will be offered in Green, Black (Grey) colors and there is also a possibility that it might bring 150W SuperVOOC fast charging.

Other than these details, previous leaks have revealed that the device will come with a 6.7-inch LTPO 2.0 AMOLED display that offers a Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It will have a triple camera setup on the back comprising of a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS, a 16-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. The device will also have a 4,800mAh battery, an in-screen fingerprint scanner, and stereo speakers.

MediaTek reports a 33% increase in revenue this year propelled by the Dimensity 8000/9000 chipsets

Chipmaker MediaTek has announced a 33% increase in its revenue from January to May this year. This comes after the release of the financial report of the Taiwanese company. Its May 2022 revenue stood at TWD 52.1 billion ($1.75 billion), slightly lower (1%) than its April 2022 revenue. MediaTek’s January-May 2022 revenue stood at TWD 247.4 billion ($8.3 billion), which is a 33% improvement from 2021. MediaTek’s May 2022 revenue also indicates that the company has had three consecutive months of TWD 50 billion ($1.68 billion) sales.MediaTek Dimensity 9000

MediaTek has seen a strong sales trajectory for its Dimensity 8000 and Dimensity 9000 chipsets in 2022. Several brands have hopped in on the MediaTek train due to the great capabilities of its flagship chips. Some of the popular brands using Dimensity chips in their premium products include Oppo, Xiaomi, OnePlus, Realme, and Honor. These OEMs have recently released smartphones powered by Dimensity chips.

With its very strong 5-month performance, MediaTek will likely exceed its H1 2022 target. However, it is projected that the strong sales will not continue throughout H2 2022. Revenue is expected to slow down in June due to inflation-induced price adjustments and reduced orders.

The MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ has just been announced. It is seen as a competitor to Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1. It offers better CPU and GPU performance than the Dimensity 9000. The Dimensity 8000 and 9000 series remain powerful chips in their own rights and will continue to drive sales in the short term for MediaTek.

Samsung’s new bezel-less foldable OLED panel goes in production

Last month, Samsung announced that it will be shutting down its in-house LCD display manufacturing by the end of June 2022 due to tough competition from its Chinese and Taiwanese competitors. The brand has announced that it would rather focus its resources on manufacturing organic light-emitting diode (OLED) and quantum dot (QD) displays.

Samsung Customer Service Center in Krakow

Now, a new report from TheElec has revealed that the brand is on its way to introduce introducing a new flexible OLED lamination method for its foldable smartphones which will lead to a completely bezel-less display.

The new method uses a liquid transparent adhesive (OCR) which sprays fine ink droplets using a jet spray for lamination. This provides for a smooth and accurate lamination as the ink jet is also able to reach places like the tricky areas around the punch-hole for the selfie cameras and speakers which the earlier technology-based on transparent tape (OCA) was not able to achieve.

Additionally, the OCR method is going to reduce the cost of production as it is ten times cheaper than the OCA method. Samsung Display and Estiai have reportedly solved the biggest challenge in OCR applications, the dripping of materials along curved surfaces. Thus, OCR will lead to a true zero-bezel with reduced panel thickness.

The company is looking forward to investing in a modular production line set up in a Vietnamese factory. Samsung has not yet confirmed which OCR material for foldable OLED was supplied but soon the new foldable phones will undergo a trial run.

Samsung has a massive 50 million inventory of phones due to low demand: Report

A new report has revealed some interesting information regarding Samsung and its smartphone operations. Apparently, the low demand in the handset market has caused a surplus in its smartphone inventory and the figure is huge.

According to TheElec, the South Korean tech giant has a large stockpile of smartphones that have reached 50 million in number. Furthermore, sources have claimed that the Galaxy A series made up a large portion of smartphones that is in this inventory. These are being readied to be sold, as per one of the source. Samsung is planning on shipping around 270 million units of smartphones in this year. So, 50 million would mean that the large inventory accounts for around 18 percent of its shipment goals.

The report further added that a more balanced figure would’ve been around 10 percent, so the figure basically implies that the brand is currently facing low demand for its smartphones. Just in the month from January to February 2022, the company had produced around 20 million units of smartphones. However, this figure halved to 10 million units in May. In other words, this drop in production is probably due to the existing large stockpile of handsets that have not been sold yet.

As of right now, the demand for smartphones have dipped across all segments. There have been multiple reasons for this including lockdowns in China due to the Coronavirus, global economic state, surge in raw materials, the ongoing invasion of Russia into Ukraine, among others. Thus, Samsung has also lowered its component orders from its supports by around 30 to 70 percent from April to May.
