OPPO electric scooter price tipped, company also working on Tata Nano-like car for India

OPPO is reportedly planning to launch EVs in India in 2023 and 2024, with the first offering coming in the form of an affordable electric scooter.

Tipster Yogesh Brar has shared some details about the OPPO EV launch (via 91mobiles) revealing that the plans for it are still in the early stages, meaning the launch timeline is uncertain at the moment and may even be pushed forward. OPPO is also aiming for a price range of around Rs. 60,000 for the electric scooter, which puts it in a league of its own considering most scooters currently cost over a lakh.

The recently announced OLA S1 Electric Scooter

Moreover, the company is also working on a Tata Nano-like compact car. Many of you will recall that the Nano was launched at a starting price of just a lakh, and if OPPO is indeed to make a car as compact as this one, it will likely make it quite affordable as well. This gets quite apparent with the fact that OPPO is designing both the electric car and scooter mainly for intracity commute. Accordingly, the duo will likely offer limited range and top speeds.

The company has apparently already started holding talks with manufacturers for batteries and other components. Some of these companies even supply parts to brands like Tesla – which makes sense considering electric vehicles are a first for OPPO, and the company would want to start things right.

Recently, it was revealed that OPPO had applied for a trademark back in 2018 for a variety of electric vehicles, along with other BBK Electronics subsidiaries realme, OnePlus, and vivo. This could mean that the company might be the first in multiple Chinese tech companies looking to enter into the Indian EV space.

Intel starts shipping mobile Alder Lake-P series chips to manufacturers

A few weeks ago, Intel officially announced its next-generation Alder Lake processors, kicking off the 12th generation of chips from the company. Now, the company is gearing up to launch the mobile version of the same.

Ahead of the launch, Intel has already started shipping them to laptop manufacturers. It was confirmed by the company through Twitter. This indicates that the official launch or announcement shouldn’t be far away.

Intel 12th Generation Alder Lake Processor

Based on the information available so far, the Intel Alder Lake-P series include the lower-end models which are said to feature two Golden Cove performance (P) cores, as well as eight Gracemont efficiency (E) cores.

Some higher-end variants of the mobile CPU will reportedly be powered by six P-cores and eight E-cores. It is also being said that the top-end Intel Alder Lake-P chip will come with 14 cores and 20 threads.

Recently, the upcoming Intel Alder Lake-P Core i7-12700H appeared on benchmark which indicated that it to be faster than 45 percent in multi-core performance than the previous generation. It could also outperform AMD‘s flagship processor by 35 percent.

Another benchmark for the Intel Core i7-12700H showed it comfortably on top against Apple Silicon chips as the test revealed Alder Lake-P could be almost 50 percent faster than the newly launched Apple M1 Max chip. The Cinebench R23 benchmark shows Intel chip outperformed the M1 Max by a whopping 49 percent, scoring an impressive 18,501 points.

OnePlus RT and OnePlus Buds Z2 expected to go live in India in December

The OnePlus 9RT was unveiled last month in China as a successor to the OnePlus 9R and brought about a few upgraded specs. Alongside it, the OnePlus Buds Z2 TWS earbuds were also announced. Both were always eligible for global launches, and while there’s no official word from the company about that yet, we now have a date for their release in India.

91mobiles has learned from industry insider Ishan Agarwal that the OnePlus RT and OnePlus Buds Z2 will be going live in India in December. He has further revealed that the OnePlus RT will come in Nano Silver and Hacker Black colors, while the OnePlus Buds Z2 will be available in Obsidian Black and Pearl White colors.

OnePlus 9RT

To recall, the OnePlus 9RT was recently found to be rebranded as the OnePlus RT in India. It is most likely that the Indian variant will come with the exact set of specs as its Chinese counterpart. As such, the OnePlus RT will feature a 6.62-inch OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 1300 nits peak brightness, HDR10+ certification, and a 600Hz touch sampling rate. It will be equipped with the Snapdragon 888 processor – a notable upgrade over the OnePlus 9R’s Snapdragon 870 – that has been paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

Moving on to the camera department, the rear module packs a 50MP primary + 16MP wide-angle + 2MP macro camera setup. Upfront, there’s a 16MP selfie shooter fitted within a left-aligned punch-hole. The device is powered by a 4,500mAh battery with support for 65W fast charging.

The OnePlus Buds Z2 comes with an upgraded design that has done away with plastic tips in favor of in-ear silicone ones for a more comfy fit. The earbuds feature 11mm drivers and support AAC and SBC Bluetooth codecs. But perhaps the best bit is the all-new ANC support with claims of reducing noise by up to 40dB. Other than this, the earbuds come with IP55 splash-proof certification, support Warp Charge, and have a battery life of up to 7 hours.

OnePlus Buds Z2 Black

The OnePlus RT is expected to be priced under Rs. 40,000, while the OnePlus Buds Z2 may cost around Rs. 5,815 (derived from Chinese pricing of CNY 499).

Apple plans to build its custom iPhone 5G modem via TSMC in 2023

Apple is apparently seeking to deepen its relation with its chip supplier TSMC. The company might be planning to have its custom iPhone 5G modem built by the world’s largest contract chipmaker in 2023.

Apple

According to a NikkeiAsia report, sources close to the matter have revealed that the Cupertino based giant plans on building its first in house modem through TSMC’s 4nm process. Furthermore, the brand is developing its own radio frequency and millimeter wave components as well to go alongside the modem. Similarly, the sources added that Apple is even working on its own power management chip, which will be for the modem.

For those unaware, all of the 5G enabled iPhones that are currently available in the market feature modems supplied by Qualcomm. In other words, this move from Apple would end the monopoly that the American chipmaker held in supplying 5G modems. As per our previous report, Qualcomm is expected to ship just 20 percent of iPhone modems in 2023, since Apple would launch its in house 5G modem the same year.

Apple

This would allow the iPhone maker to not just save costs on fees that it pays Qualcomm, but also enable it to have even more control over its hardware integration capability to boost efficiency. Additionally, the self designed modem from Apple could also help in integrating it to its custom iPhone SoCs that are also supplied by TSMC. Back in 2019, the brand had also acquired Intel’s modem business to boost the development of its proprietary modems.

Moto G200 vs Realme GT Neo2: Specs Comparison

Motorola surprised everyone by launching a new flagship from the G series: the Moto G200 5G. Motorola started to compete in the flagship killer segment only this year by releasing the Moto Edge 20 Pro, but is it already able to challenge the best manufacturers of flagship killers? In order to answer this question, we decided to compare it to the best flagship killers from Xiaomi and Realme. After the comparison with the Xiaomi 11T, here is another comparison between the specifications of Motorola Moto G200 5G and Realme GT Neo2. Each of these devices has its pro and cons different from each other: here, you will hopefully learn which one is the best for you.

Design

The NEO Green color option of the Realme GT Neo2 is very attractive due to its verdant shade you rarely see in smartphones and a vertical stripe going down its back. On the other hand, the Motorola Moto G200 5G is another good-looking phone as it comes without a rectangular camera module and it only has three sensors placed in the back cover. The Realme GT Neo2 is more compact because it packs a smaller display, and this is an important added value for those who want a better device to use with one hand or to keep in a pocket. Moto G200 5G has a water-repellent design, so it should be able to withstand water splashes.

Display

If you need the best display in terms of image quality, then you should opt for the Realme GT Neo2 without thinking twice. Unlike the Motorola Moto G200 5G, it has an AMOLED display showing richer colors and deeper blacks. Further, it has the HDR10+ certification improving the image quality on streaming platforms. Another important added value is definitely the presence of stereo speakers providing a richer audio experience. But if you are a gamer, you might prefer the Motorola Moto G200 5G for two reasons: the first is the high 144 Hz refresh rate, and the second is the wider 6.8-inch panel. Note that Moto G200 5G has a side-mounted fingerprint reader, while Realme GT Neo2 has an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Specs & Software

The most powerful device of this comparison is the Motorola Moto G200 5G because it is powered by a better processor: the Snapdragon 888+ mobile platform that is currently the best SoC by Qualcomm. The Realme GT Neo2 offers a higher amount of RAM (up to 12 GB), but its chipset is the weaker Snapdragon 870 built at 7 nm. You won’t notice the difference between Snapdragon 888+ and Snapdragon 870 in daily use, but if you are a hardcore gamer, then having a device with Snapdragon 888+ inside makes more sense. The operating system is Android 11 in both cases, but on the Moto G200 5G it is a version of Android 11 close to the stock one, while the Realme GT Neo2 is customized by Realme UI.

Camera

The camera department is slightly more interesting on the Motorola Moto G200 5G. First of all, it has a better main camera with a 108 MP resolution which is able to capture a higher level of detail. Further, even its 16 MP front camera should be better due to a brighter focal aperture. Both the devices are midrange camera phones, so do not expect an incredible photo quality in low light conditions. But they click great photos when there is light around.

Battery

The Realme GT Neo2 and the Motorola Moto G200 5G have the same battery capacity: 5000 mAh. But the Realme GT Neo2 should offer a longer battery life because its display is more efficient. Further, the Realme GT Neo2 charges faster thanks to 65W SuperDart charging technology.

Price

The starting price of the Motorola Moto G200 5G in the global market is €599/$674, while the Realme GT Neo2 starts from €449/$505. With the Realme GT Neo2, you get a higher value for money as it offers a better display, faster charging, and similar specifications for a way more affordable price. But do not underestimate the Moto G200 5G because it has superior hardware and camera.

Motorola Moto G200 5G vs Realme GT Neo2: PRO and CONS

Motorola Moto G200 5G

PRO

  • Better chipset
  • 144 Hz refresh rate
  • Wider display
  • Better front camera

CONS

  • LCD display

The advent of the digital era has brought with it several posture-related problems associated with the cervical spine. This has been further exacerbated by the pandemic which kept scores working from home, under sitting conditions that may not be ideal. This is coupled with the fact that people use mobile phones a lot regardless of their locations and this hasn’t helped in keeping them safe from neck and shoulder pain.HiPee Smart Health Neckband

Xiaomi Youpin has now launched a new product under crowdfunding dubbed HiPee Smart Health Neck Ring. The smart neck ring monitors and corrects the posture in real time 24 hours a day, and gets rid of the troubles of back pain.

Improper sitting posture and lowering your head on the table are often unconscious movements, which are difficult to correct subjectively. Smart neckbands help you correct wrong postures, allowing people who are troubled by hunchbacks or unattractive postures to know whether their postures are correct anytime and anywhere through reminders.HiPee Smart Health Neckband

The HiPee Smart Health Neckband has independently developed an AI algorithm, which senses posture changes in front, back, left, and right 360°, real-time monitoring, reminding everyone to bend down unconsciously when they work and play with mobile phones.

In addition, the HiPee Smart Health Neckband also has somatosensory games, so that everyone can exercise while playing. Through the high-precision motion sensor located in the spine, it can recognize body movements, monitor the bending direction and tilt angle of the spine, and generate linkage in the game world. Virtual and reality are intertwined, allowing everyone to move their bodies while having fun.HiPee Smart Health Neckband

It can also connect to the WeChat applet via Bluetooth, and can simultaneously record the number of wrong postures per day, whether the body ratio is normal, the time distribution of the hunchback, and the pressure on the spine, etc.

The neckband is priced at 299 yuan (~$47) but is on offer for 199 yuan (~$31) during the crowdfunding period.
