Samsung reportedly working on Galaxy Book Fold 17, a foldable screen laptop

Samsung has been pushing the foldable smartphones in the market and the strategy might be working for the South Korean giant as it is witnessing record bookings for the newly launched Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3 phones.

Now, it seems that the company is now looking to expand the foldable technology to the laptop segment as well, starting with the Samsung Galaxy Book Fold 17. The device was showcased as a concept at SID 2021 but it’s reportedly being developed by Samsung.

The report, coming from @UniverseIce, confirms the Galaxy Book Fold 17 moniker for the upcoming device but nothing much is currently known about this product. It is likely to come with a 17-inch foldable display.

We expect the actual product to look a bit different compared to what the company showcased at SID 2021 earlier this year. The concept device showcased had very thin bezels around the screen, and an Under-Display Camera (UDC).

As noted, currently there’s not much known about the Samsung Galaxy Book Fold 17 but if the device is indeed real and set to launch soon, we expect to know more about its features and specifications, as well as pricing and availability details in the coming weeks.

Last year, Lenovo had launched the ThinkPad X1 Fold laptop, featuring a 13.3-inch foldable OLED display with a screen resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. It was first showcased at CES 2019 as “the world’s first foldable PC.”

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE Exynos version hits GeekBench as the S20 FE gets a new update

Samsung‘s pocket-friendly Galaxy S21 FE has been a long time coming but the company is yet to release a launch date for the much-anticipated device. There are speculations that the device will be launched on September 8. While we await official confirmation, a new detail has emerged about the Galaxy S21 FE.Samsung Galaxy S21 FE

A model believed to be the Galaxy S21 FE has appeared on GeekBench. This isn’t the first time the device will be making an appearance on GeekBench but what makes this spectacular is that the model is powered by an Exynos chipset. Specifically, the device which bears the model number SM-G990E is equipped with the Exynos 2100 flagship processor.

The Exynos version may likely be released in some markets. But that may cause some controversies considering that the chipset is not as powerful as the Snapdragon 888 which will also power some models of the S21 FE. The GeekBench score of 1,084 points and 3,316 points on the single and multi-core tests attests to this. We also recall how the Exynos 990 released last year performed way below the Snapdragon 865. Thankfully, the Exynos 2100 isn’t so far behind the Snapdragon 888.

In a related development, Samsung has started seeding the latest Android security patch for the month of September to the Galaxy S20 FE even before the start of September. The update ushers in the firmware version G781BXXU4CUH5 and has a 790MB size. Apart from the security patch, the update doesn’t bring any new features aside from improved system stability.

The update is already been pushed to some users in Austria, Italy, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Slovenia, Nordic countries, Czech Republic, Poland, and the Baltic region. We expect Samsung to expand the update to more markets soon. You can manually check for the update by navigating to the phone’s Settings > Software update menu.

Bose QuietComfort 45 arrives with an unchanged design but better ANC and USB-C charging

The Bose QuietComfort 35 II was one of the top headphones a few years ago as a result of its impressive features one of which is active noise cancellation. However, it has been overtaken by competitors such as Sony’s WH-1000XM3 and WH-1000XM4. Now, Bose is ready to take back its crown with its new headphones, the QuietComfort 45.

Bose QuietComfort 45

The new pair of headphones doesn’t look too different from its predecessors but Bose says it has made some upgrades. The headphones are said to be light and comfortable and “features smooth cushions with no pleats, luxuriously plush synthetic leather, and minimal clamping force.”.

Bose says the noise canceling is better and it has added a new Aware Mode that allows you to be aware of your environment and provides the feeling that you are not wearing headphones at all. The QuietComfort 45 has a button on the left earcup to switch between Quiet Mode for full noise-canceling or Aware Mode.

The new pair of headphones now come with a fourth external microphone which improves voice pickup better than its predecessor and even the competition. Bose says during calls, the headphones isolate and focus on the user’s voice while a noise-rejecting algorithm filters out environmental sounds for clearer conversations even in windy conditions.

The QuietComfort 45 boasts a battery life of 24 hours and charges via UBS-C, a welcome upgrade from the MicroUSB of the QuietComfort 35 II. The headphones fully charge in 2.5 hours and there is support for fast charging – a 15-minute charge will provide up to 2.5 hours of listening time. There is a companion app that is available on the App Store and Google Play Store. There is no built-in voice assistant this time but a press and hold of the multifunction button allows you to access your phone’s voice assistant.

Bose has put a price tag of $329 on the headphones and it can be pre-ordered in Black or White Smoke on the manufacturer’s website. It will ship on September 23.
