In what can be described as typical of OnePlus, the manufacturer has been releasing bits of information about its upcoming smartphone, the OnePlus Nord 2. The latest info is about the phone’s software support.
Take a deep breath and chill, worrywarts. OnePlus Nord 2 comes pre-installed with OxygenOS 11 backed up by 2 major Android updates and 3 years of security updates.
The tweet also disclosed that the Nord 2 will receive two major Android updates which means it will receive Android 12 and Android 13. In addition to these OS upgrades, the phone will receive security updates for 3 years.
The OnePlus Nord 2 will have a 90Hz AMOLED display with a single punch-hole at the corner for the front-facing camera. It will be powered by the Dimensity 1200-AI processor, a custom version of the Dimensity 1200 that provides “AI-assisted imaging for an improved photography experience, display enhancements, and better response times for faster and smoother gaming”.
Chinese tech startup Huami Technology today held its Next Beat 2021 conference at Hefei, China. The conference is themed “The Future of Health” and indeed, the company announced several new products tailored towards promoting the health of users of its products.
Two of the products released include a new generation of smart wearable chips dubbed Huangshan 2S and a new self-developed operating system named Zepp OS. The new operating system focuses on health.
The Huangshan 2S chip is said to be the industry’s first dual-core RISC-V wearable chip. It also features an independent GPU. The processor comes with artificial intelligence and can achieve super-computing power and ultra-low power consumption. The chip can perform high-load calculations such as graphics and UI operations. Among them, the large-core system also integrates FPU and supports floating-point operations.
The processor takes over from the Huangshan 2 chip which was released around this time last year. Compared to the previous-gen model, the Huangshan 2S has an improved computing performance by 18%, while operating power consumption has been reduced by 56%. The sleep power consumption has also been reduced by 93%. Huami claims the processor can process sensor data for 24 hours and realize continuous monitoring of biological data in all weathers.
The Huangshan 2S chip integrates a 2.5D GPU which improves the graphics acceleration performance of the new chip by up to 67% compared to the previous generation. The GPU can independently and efficiently process graphics-related instructions, making the operating system run more smoothly. In addition, the convolutional neural network acceleration processing unit on the chip can quickly identify the type of disease; taking atrial fibrillation as an example, its recognition speed is 26 times faster than pure software calculations.
Huami also unveiled a new Zepp OS to provide an alternative to the Android Wear OS and others. The self-developed OS is entirely developed for smartwatches. Huami’s co-founder and the rotating president of the Global Innovation Center, Fan Meihui stated that the new OS comes with three main features – lightness, smoothness, and practicality.
Talking of lightness, the new operating system is based on the FreeRTOS microkernel open source code, which occupies a very small space compared to other general OS. The system package is only 55MB, which is about 1/28 of Apple’s watch OS and 1/10 of the Amazfit OS used by Huami Technology. From low-profile single-chip microcomputers to high-performance SoCs, the system is perfectly compatible and suitable for all types of wearable products.
Based on the lightweight underlying code and various power optimization methods, Zepp OS has further improved the battery life to ensure 24 hours continuous health data monitoring. The operating power consumption of Zepp OS is reduced by 65% compared to the previous Amazfit OS. Compared with the Amazfit Watch 2 running Amazfit OS, the battery life of the watch equipped with Zepp OS has increased by 190%.
Another major feature of Zepp OS is smoothness. The frame rate of most interfaces in the system can exceed 60fps, and the effect is smooth and delicate. In addition, the system also integrates 150 dials, including 15 cool dynamic dials.
Zepp OS also has powerful IoT connectivity and network functions. It can realize smart home control, NFC access control for cardless payment, etc. The OS also makes it easy to connect other heath equipment such as blood pressure monitors, blood glucose monitors, etc. In the future, through cooperation with GoPro, Huami smartwatch users will be able to control GoPro sports cameras to take pictures right from the watch.
At the same time, the system also supports various Internet cloud service applications, such as NetEase Cloud Music, Alexa, and Yuepaoquan.
In addition, Zepp OS supports 4G/5G connections and Wi-Fi connections. It also integrates a complete set of TCP/IP network protocols. This means that smartwatches equipped with eSIM can be directly connected to the cloud without a mobile phone, which is convenient for users.
For developers, Zepp OS is also equipped with a friendly and easy-to-use watch JS applet framework-Zeus Mini-Program Framework, which is convenient for developers to develop watch applets with a lower threshold. In the future, the same easy-to-use graphical development environment will be opened for dial design, and even individual users can easily design personalized dials.

Samsung launched the Galaxy M02 in India in early February. Just a month later, the handset’s price was increased. Now, four months from that, the smartphone gets yet another price hike. Let’s take a look at how much the device now costs in the country.
Samsung Galaxy M02
The Samsung Galaxy M02 sold in India comes in two variants – 2GB + 32GB and 3GB + 32GB. They debuted at ₹6,999 and ₹7,499 respectively.
As mentioned earlier, the handset got its first price hike a little over a month from its announcement. The device price was increased by ₹500. Hence, it had been selling for ₹7,499 and ₹7,999 since then.
Now, once again, the Galaxy M02 receives a price hike of ₹500. As a result, the phone now retails at ₹7,999 and ₹8,499 for the 2GB + 32GB and 3GB 32GB storage configurations respectively.
Some of the highlights of the Galaxy M02 include a 6.5-inch HD+ LCD screen, MediaTek MT6739W SoC, 13MP (wide) + 2MP (macro) dual-camera setup, 5MP selfie camera, and 5,000mAh battery.
It is worth noting that Samsung is not the only company to increase the price of its smartphones as well as TVs in recent times. Almost all phone and TV brands have hiked the price of their certain products due to a shortage of supplies.
Unfortunately, it’s not clear when the situation will improve. Hopefully, it does sooner than later as it could affect the demand in India, which in return could further harm the country’s economy.
OnePlus isn’t just planning on pushing out new midrange models following the success of the Nord last year but is also striving to push out fresh updates to the original model. The tech giant has now rolled out a new update for the first-gen Nord smartphone.
The update ushers in the OS version Oxygen 11.1.4.4 and brings some improvements to the device such as improved battery life and a couple of bug fixes. The changelog for the update shows that the device comes with a reduction in power consumption in specific areas. It also fixes the issue of delayed notifications. The new update equally fixes the overheating issue in certain scenarios. In addition, the new update brings the June 2021 security patch.
Owers of the OnePlus Nord owners have started receiving the update via OTA push but to avoid bricking their smartphones, it is important that users ensure that their phone’s battery has up to 30% of battery power before commencing the update. It is also required that there is a minimum of 3GB RAM space available before starting the update.
This is the second time the Nord smartphone is receiving a new update since May. In the month of May, OnePlus provided an OTA update for the device which arrived as OxygenOS 11.1.1.3. The update brings an upgrade to the security patch and several new fixes.
Since the vanilla Nord’s launch last year, the Chinese tech giant went on to release a number of mid-range models such as the Nord N100, Nord N10. This year, the company has already unveiled the Nord CE 5G and Nord N200 5G. The Nord 2 5G is expected to join the fray later this month.
Smartphone maker vivo is said to launch a new handset called vivo Y72 5G in India on July 15. The price and launch offers of this phone leaked a few days back. Now, the latest leak of this device reveals everything about it.
vivo Y52s (t1 version) aka vivo Y72 5G
The new information about the vivo Y72 5G for India comes from Yogesh, in association with 91Mobiles. The tipster has exposed the entire spec sheet of the phone. As per him, this handset is a rebranded vivo Y52s (t1 version).
According to the leaker, the vivo Y72 5G, which is set to launch in India, will sport a 6.58-inch FHD+ Halo FullView display with a resolution of 2408 x 1080 pixels and a 90Hz refresh rate. He does not mention the type of the screen. But going by the original model, the device should have an LCD panel with a dewdrop notch.
Further, the smartphone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 chipset coupled with 8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. It will also come with an optional 4GB virtual RAM. As for software, it will run Funtouch OS 11.x based on Android 11.

On the connectivity front, the phone will support 5G, 4G, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GNSS, USB Type-C, and 3.5mm headphone jack. But unfortunately, the device will lack a MicroSD card slot. Anyway, it will sport a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Last but not least, the vivo Y72 5G for India will be backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging. The smartphone is expected to retail for ₹22,990 in the country.
LG Innotek and Corning are jointly working on a new project. This collaboration between the brands is for the research on a new liquid lens technology, which could potentially bring benefits for the photography aspect of smartphones.
According to TheElecreport, the news arrives from patent filings that were recently spotted. Both brands have 50-50 stakes in the nine patents that are related to the liquid lens technology. The core technologies listed in these patents include a liquid lens system, how to control a camera lens (which features the liquid lens), and lens curvature varying instrument. The liquid lens has a vinyl bag shaped lens with liquid material. So, the lens is capable of going in and out of focus depending on the curvature of the liquid that can be changed with a current of voltage.
To put things simply, unlike a conventional lens, the liquid lens does not have to move to control focal length. This would enable smartphone makers to make thinner camera modules since the liquid lens changes as per the requirements and does not physically move. Furthermore, it could even bring various improvements in the camera performance of smartphones as well.
The new technology could potentially offer faster and more accurate focusing abilities, which is useful in video captures. On the other hand, the technology could also enable OEMs to develop better stabilization for cameras, which, in turn, would lead to clearer low light images as well. Unfortunately, this technology has yet to be adopted commercially by any brand as of right now, so stay tuned for more, as we will be providing updates when additional information is available regarding this matter.
Earlier today (13th July 2021), a new product went live for crowdfunding on the Xiaomi Youpin platform. This is a new pet dryer, which lets users safely dry their pets without any hassles.
The product is currently listed on the Youpin platform at the moment and its official specifications stated that it can offer 15 seconds of rapid heating to help dry pets. This has it reach a constant temperature of 38.5 degrees Celsius. Furthermore, it also supports the internal and external circulation of air, while also simulating natural winds to keep the pets calm with low noise levels. In other words, this product would be perfect for those that seek to avoid the hassles of drying their unruly pets.
Furthermore, the drying process neutralized static electricity from the pet’s fur, while also repairing hair scales, and forms a moisture protection layer on the fur as well. Drying from a hair dryer or towel would usually lead to that pet’s hair sticking on end, but this product avoids this and makes the hair smoother. Once you dry your pets, the in built deodorizing module turns on to promptly remove any residual odour from the process in the small cabin.
To ensure the pet feels comfortable and secure, the small pet dryer is also built with transparent materials that offer a 180 degree field of vision on either side as well as the top region. It also houses built in lighting and has a 60 liter volume that is compatible with the usual house cats and smaller breeds of dogs that weigh less than 9 kilograms. For additional safety, the product also carries a heat warning module that cuts off power if internal temperatures exceed 42 degrees Celsius. The Pet Drying Box is currently listed on Xiaomi Youpin platform for 699 Yuan (roughly 110 US Dollars).
A new rumor from China regarding an unreleased Samsung flagship smartphone has just surfaced on Weibo, a Chinese microblogging website. The rumor is for the Galaxy S30 series, which will apparently still feature a punch hole display on the front.
For those unaware, the next gen selfie shooters in flagship handsets are expected to make a shift towards under display sensors, which are expected to be more common next year. Although, it seems like the South Korean tech giant will refrain from making this shift for a while longer. The news arrives from @数码闲聊站 who believes that the company will still ship the Galaxy S30 lineup with punch hole cameras on the front due to the maturity of the technology.
The tipster added that the Galaxy Z Fold3 will be the first from the brand to feature an under display camera. However, the next gen flagship Galaxy S30 series will still feature a punch hole shooter on the front owing to the company’s maturity with this particular camera technology in its smartphones. In other words, the company might be going for the older but more reliable technology while it perfects the newer one’s implementation.
Reportedly, the punch hole shooter on the Galaxy S30 series will be housed in the top center region of the display, while its primary rear image sensor will still sport 100 megapixel camera. While some rumors had pointed at a 200 megapixel sensor on the Galaxy S30 Ultra, other reports claim that the company will offer a more refined 100 megapixel image for the upcoming flagship series. Keep in mind, this is still an unconfirmed report and it is still too early to talk about the Galaxy S30 lineup, so take this news with a pinch of salt for now and stay tuned for more updates.
Logitech has officially made the G335 wired gaming headset available in India today. As we mentioned in our launch story, the G335 borrows its design from the popular G733 wireless headset launched back in October 2020. While being more affordable, the G335 is slimmer and lighter and retains key features like memory foam ear cups and adjustable headbands from its more expensive wireless sibling.
The Logitech G335 wired gaming headset is priced at INR 6,795 and is available from Amazon.in. There are only two colors available right now in India – Black and White. Interestingly, the global version of the G335 had an additional Mint color.
Weighing just around 240 grams, the Logitech G335 is one of the lightest gaming headsets in the market right now. It features a slimmer design than the G733 and comes with memory form ear pads as well as an adjustable suspension headband. Logitech says that the breathable ear pads and the elastic headband ensure a comfortable fit even during long hours of gaming. Further, the headband is reversible and washable as well.
The G335 headset features 40mm neodymium drivers for gaming-grade audio quality. The headset promises easy ‘plug and play’ support for most gaming platforms like Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, PC, and smartphones via a 3.5mm audio jack. The headset also features user-friendly controls like a volume roller on the ear cup, as well as a flip-to-mute mic. The G335 headset is Discord Certified too.
The HUAWEI P series is the company’s flagship smartphone lineup for the first half of the year. Unfortunately, due to the US ban and semiconductor shortage, the next-gen HUAWEI P50 series has been delayed. Currently, it’s not sure when the devices will launch, however, their features continue to leak.
A Huawei-focussed tipster who goes by the username @RODENT950 has revealed the camera specs of the HUAWEI P50 series. According to a tweet of his from Saturday (July 10), the next flagship smartphones from Huawei will arrive with the following camera setups.
HUAWEI P50
Sony IMX707
Sony IMX600
3x Telephoto
HUAWEI P50 Pro
Sony IMX800
Omnivision OV64A
5x Periscope
ToF / New Sensor
Unfortunately, the leaker is yet to reveal anything about the front camera. Hence, the selfie camera of these phones continues to be a mystery.
According to previous reports, the HUAWEI P50 Pro will flaunt a 2.5K (1224 x 2696 pixels) display with a 20:9 aspect ratio. Unsurprisingly, it will have support for 5G connectivity and WiFi 6+. Additionally, there could be a 4G variant as well.
Talking about the design, Huawei had already officially exposed the design of the HUAWEI P50 series at the HarmonyOS conference in early June. The back of the phones will house two giant circles with cameras inside them. In other words, the handsets will look similar to the HONOR 50 series.
What are your thoughts on the HUAWEI P50 series? Do you think the lineup will ever get a release date outside China as the company appears to be struggling to launch the smartphones even in its home country? Do let us know in the comment section below.
Samsung has just signed a deal with Tesla worth nearly half a billion dollars. This deal will have the former supply the latter with camera sensors for the latter’s upcoming electric vehicle, the Cybertruck.
The news for the latest deal between the South Korean tech giant and the American electric car maker arrives from South Korean publications (via SamMobile) that claim that Samsung’s latest camera modules will be used in Tesla’s Cybertruck. For those unaware, the Cybertruck is a futuristic-looking electric SUV designed that was first unveiled back in 2019. The prototype model from back then was equipped with an array of cameras connected to the dashboard screen, featuring a mirrorless design.
In the past, Samsung has supplied Tesla with components for its electric vehicles, with tech such as batteries. Now, the report suggests that the consumer electronics manufacturer has signed a 436 million US Dollars deal with the world’s largest EV maker for the supply of its new image sensors. Other rumors have also stated that the company will supply Tesla with its new PixCell LED headlamps as well for future EVs.
Interestingly, Samsung has also just recently announced the new ISOCELL Auto 4AC, which is built and optimized specifically for Automotive applications. In other words, this technology might be seen in the Cybertruck or even Tesla’s future EVs as well. The new ISOCELL Auto 4AC features the company’s CornerPixel solution that enhances the field of view for a safer driving experience. It comes in a 1/3.7 inch optical format with 1.2 million 3.0 micrometer (µm) pixels and can be housed in various regions of the car providing a wide angle of view.
US-based auctioning firm Heritage Auctions have sold a sealed Super Mario 64 game at a record-setting cost of $1.56 million, which eclipsed the previous records recently set for Nintendo’s iconic games that held sway many years back.
In factory mint condition, the game was obviously seen as a collector’s item, looking at the seeming scramble for it during the auction sales. The iconic Nintendo games that defined the gaming space in years gone by have commanded massive bids during auctions this year. Some of the Nintendo N64 games that have grossed huge offers at auctions are Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy III, and Super Mario Bros.
The Case Fresh tag for the auctioned game means that it was excellently preserved in virtually the same condition when it left the factory. Nintendo has been very successful with the N64 console, satisfying the demand of millions of gamers who reveled in the pure energy and entertainment provided by the product when it held sway on the gaming space.
The game auctioneer, Heritage Auctions said that the boxed game had a rating of 9.8 A++ on the Wata Scale for Sealed items, and this translates into an almost perfect condition for the auctioned item.
The Legend of Zelda grossed $870,000 in an auction sale recently before its record was eclipsed by the current Super Mario 64 at over 1.5 million dollars. The Super Mario Bros also got a final bid of $660,000, as the highest record before the Legend of Zelda.
The person’s identity that paid for the record amount for the Super Mario game was not revealed. Whether more of the Nintendo classics could gross higher auction amounts than the Super Mario 64 remains in the realm of speculations.
Samsung has taken the initiative of making foldable smartphones mainstream and the South Korean giant has been focusing on launching new foldable phones in the market. While most of the smartphone makers are yet to launch a foldable smartphone, Samsung is gearing up to launch the third generation.
The company has been working on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 smartphones and plenty of details about these two devices have already leaked. Now, a new report reveals the phone’s pricing in Samsung’s home market — South Korea.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is said to cost between KRW 1,900,000 and KRW 1,999,000 which is between $1,655 and $1,741. On the other hand, the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is likely to be priced between KRW 1,200,000 and KRW 1,280,000 which is roughly between $1,045 to $1,110.
This is in line with the previous report about the newer foldable smartphones from Samsung to cost 20 percent less compared to the previous generation models. For reference, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 costed KRW 2,398,000 ($2,088) in Korea while the Galaxy Z Flip started at KRW 1,650,000, about $1,435.
As we noted, Samsung is actively trying to push foldable smartphones and in line with that, the South Korean giant is also expected to have a trade-in offer, allowing users to exchange their old devices and upgrade to the new foldable phones, bringing down the cost of the new phones.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 was recently spotted on TENAA and MIIT, revealing that the phone will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset and pack a 4,500mAh battery. It will also feature two displays, including a large primary screen of 7.5-inch and an external display of 6.2-inch on the outer side. It is expected to have 25W fast charging support and run Android 11 with One UI custom user interface on top.
On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is rumored to have a 6.7-inch main Super AMOLED display with a 25:9 aspect ratio and a 1.9-inch cover screen. There will also be an under-display fingerprint sensor.
The phone is expected to have a flagship-grade chipset, coupled with 8GB of RAM and 256GB internal storage. It will feature a 10-megapixel front camera and a 12-megapixel + 12-megapixel dual rear camera system. The device will pack a 3,300mAh battery and have 15W charging support. To know for sure what the devices pack and how much they cost, we will have to wait for the official launch, which is likely to happen on 11th August.

Certain lawmakers in India are considering presenting a bill that will ban the ownership of cryptocurrencies in the country. This news arrives as the region sees a surge in investment in digital assets.
According to a PRS Legislative Research report, the Cryptocurrency and Regulation of Official Digital Currency Bill proposal from the legislators have been listed for introduction in the Indian Parliament for consideration and passing. Furthermore, this proposal will also seek to facilitate the creation of India’s central bank digital currency or CDBC while placing a ban on private crypto ownership in the country. Although, this bill would also provide certain exceptions for coins that promote the underlying technology of cryptocurrency and its uses.
As of right now, the bill is slated to be presented during the Parliament’s Monsoon Session, which is set to begin on 19th July 2021. Previously, we had reported on the Indian government possibly banning cryptocurrencies and the latest news arrives amid a massive boom of digital assets investment in India. In May 2021 alone, Indians had reportedly invested 6.60 billion US Dollars in cryptocurrencies, marking a 615 percent rise from just 923 million US Dollars from April 2020.
Nirmala Sitharamanm Union Finance Minister stated that a lot of work has been done for the proposed bill, which includes feedback and views from stakeholders. He further added that “The Cabinet note is ready. We have to see when the Cabinet can take it up and consider it so that then we can move it. From our side, I think one or two indications that I have given is that at least for fintech, experiment and pilot projects a window will be available. The Cabinet will have to take a decision.”
Redmi, the sub-brand of Xiaomi introduced the Redmi K40 series at the end of February. Just four months later, the brand’s General Manager teased the Redmi K50 series a few days back. Now, a reliable tipster reveals when these phones will go official.
Redmi K40 Pro
The Redmi K series smartphones usually debut in the first half of the year. The only exceptions are Redmi K30 and Redmi K30 5G, which were announced in late December.
Hence, it is not surprising to learn that the upcoming Redmi K50 series will be launched before the next Spring Festival, which will fall on February 1, 2022. For those unaware, Spring Festival is another name for the Chinese New Year.
This piece of information comes from Digital Chat Station. Since he has been accurate with almost all of his leaks, the above-mentioned Redmi K50 series launch timeline could be true.
Going by the rough timeline shared by the leakster, the smartphones may likely go official in January. This means at least one of the models could be powered by a next-gen flagship Qualcomm mobile SoC, which is expected to break cover in December like its predecessors.
As of now, nothing is known about the forthcoming Redmi K50 series. However, we expect to learn about it in the coming days via leaks, certifications, and official teasers. Until then, do let us know what do you expect from the Redmi K50 series in the comment section below.
