The OnePlus 9 series’ launch is just around the corner. The latest flagship lineup from the company is expected to launch within the first half of this month, but a new report suggests that the series will be launched by 23rd March 2021.

This goes against previous reports and indications from the Chinese tech giant, which is expected to announce the new smartphones on 8th March 2021. In other words, this appears to be just speculation at the moment. So take this report with a pinch of salt for now.

Talking about the upcoming series, the company is expected to launch three new models within the OnePlus 9 series, including the base version, a Pro variant, and another new addition, which will either be called the OnePlus 9r or 9E. The third variant might even be called the OnePlus 9 Lite. Unfortunately, the official name is still currently unknown and we will have to wait for an official company announcement to know for sure.

The report also suggests that the upcoming Surface Duo 2’s camera will use machine learning and artificial intelligence to offer new camera experience that will significantly improve image processing.

The Microsoft Surface Duo, even though launched in 2020, comes powered by the older Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. So, for the upcoming device, we expect the company to adopt the latest chipset and offer top-of-the-line features.

While information about the next-generation Surface Duo is surfacing online, it remains to be seen when the company is planning to launch the device. Given that the current model is rolling out to more regions now, it seems unlikely that Microsoft is planning to launch the second-generation device this year.

Google activates new tab group feature on Chrome Desktop version

For the keen observers, Android users of the Google Chrome browser may have noticed the new tabs group feature that was recently activated on Google Android. The new feature gives a very nice overview of all open tabs and groups tabs together to enhance the compactness and appeal of the overall tab layout.

Google Chrome

Now, the new tabs group feature will now be available on Google Chrome for desktop. This comes after a series of rigorous and extensive trials of the feature. The tabs group feature on the desktop version of Google Chrome will prove to be an invaluable tool to quickly organize a user’s browsing activities for enhanced productivity. It would help the user to declutter the environment without necessarily closing tabs which may still be needed.

There are indications that users of the Google Chrome browser for Android will soon be able to see and activate the Follow button feature on Google Chrome for Android. It enables the Chrome desktop or ChromeOS user to create new groups by right-clicking the selected tab. You can add some spice to the layout by giving it a color and name before creating the group. In addition, you can select multiple tabs by pressing shift while clicking the left mouse button.

As should be expected, while some users have welcomed the new functionality with aplomb, some have expressed skepticism on the utility of the new tab group feature to help declutter and enhance productivity. Some see it as tokenistic, as anyone can easily declutter his workspace by closing tabs no longer needed, rather than going through the tab group feature.

As more users of Google Chrome embrace the tab group feature across all platforms, its utility will be revealed. For now, we await further developments.

Design

Despite they are actually affordable flagships, both Redmi K40 and Motorola Edge S come with an attractive design. The camera module is not invasive, the screen-to-body ratio is high and the display has a punch hole design. According to Motorola, the Edge S is splash resistant, while Redmi K40 does not provide any protection against water, at least officially. On the other hand, the Redmi K40 is thinner and lighter thanks to its smaller battery, and smaller display. If you want a device that fits better in a pocket and is easier to use with one hand, then Redmi K40 is actually a better choice. But the protection against water offered by the Motorola Edge S is an important added value.

Display

If we consider the displays, the Redmi K40 wins and you should choose it without thinking twice if you are looking for the best image quality. The Redmi K40 has a Super AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and the HDR10+ certification, as well as a very high 1300 nits peak brightness. It is almost a flagship display if we consider the color reproduction, the refresh rate, and the brightness. The Motorola Edge S has a midrange-class IPS display with a 90 Hz refresh rate and HDR10 certification, as well as a  lower 560 nits typical brightness. Despite the Redmi K40 has an AMOLED display, both the phones feature a side-mounted fingerprint reader.

Specs & Software

As mentioned in the intro, Redmi K40 and Motorola Edge S are fueled by the Snapdragon 870 mobile platform by Qualcomm. The SoC is paired with up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of fast UFS 3.1 native storage. In terms of the hardware department, it is essentially a draw. When it comes to the software, you get a user interface close to stock Android with the Motorola Edge S and a highly-customized MIUI with the Redmi K40. Both the phones run Android 11 out of the box. Note that Motorola Edge S has expandable storage thanks to a micro SD slot, while Redmi K40 does not.

Camera

The Motorola Edge S has a superior rear camera to the Redmi K40. It is composed of a 64 MP main sensor with an f/1.7 focal aperture, a 16 MP ultrawide sensor with a 121 degrees FOV, a 2 MP depth sensor, and an additional TOF 3D sensor. Even the front camera department is better: it consists of a 16 MP main sensor and a secondary 8 MP ultrawide lens.

Battery

The Motorola Edge S packs a bigger battery with a 5000 mAh capacity, while you get just 4520 mAh with the Redmi K40. The Redmi K40 has smaller dimensions thanks to its smaller battery, but the Motorola Edge S provides a longer battery life. On the other hand, the Redmi K40 charges faster with its 33W fast charging technology, while Motorola Edge S stops at 20W.

Price

The starting price of the Motorola Edge S is €250/$302, while Redmi K40 starts from €280/$338. Those €30 do not make the difference. What does are the cameras and the displays. If you want a better display quality, then go for the Redmi K40. But if you need a better camera phone, then Motorola Edge S is actually better. I would actually choose the K40 because despite the Edge S has a better camera department, it remains a mid-range camera phone.

  • AMOLED display

Leaked screenshots reveal OnePlus 9 Pro key specs and a new camera UI

The OnePlus 9 series is expected to launch this month. Rumors have reported that there will be three models – the Oneplus 9 Pro, the OnePlus 9, and a third model whose name is unconfirmed but has been referred to as OnePlus 9E, OnePlus 9 Lite, and OnePlus 9R. A new leak has surfaced that reveals key specifications of the OnePlus 9 Pro.

OnePlus didn’t launch a OnePlus 8T Pro last year, so big changes are expected for the OnePlus 9 Pro. Based on this new leak, we can confirm that these changes are there, at least in the camera department.

The source of the leak is the greek publication, Techmaniacs.gr, and they have shared screenshots of the About Phone section and camera app which contain a bunch of details.

As seen in the first image, the OnePlus 9 Pro will have a 6.7-inch Fluid AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It will have a Snapdragon 888 processor that is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Of course, there is no support for storage expansion. If you want that, you will have to look to OnePlus’s Nord lineup.

The image also shows that the OnePlus 9 Pro will have four rear cameras – a 48MP + 50MP + 8MP + 2MP. The screenshot doesn’t say the specification of the front camera but from the image of the phone, we can see it will have a single front-facing camera. It is also revealed that the OnePlus 9 Pro will run Android 11 out of the box.

The other two images show that the camera app has been redesigned. The settings menu can now be accessed from the top and not the bottom as it is on current models. The redesigned settings menu for video will allow users to switch between frame rates, resolutions, and aspect ratios.

If you look closely, you will see that the screenshot shows that the OnePlus 9 Pro supports 8K video recording at 30 frames per second and 4K video recording at 120 frames per second.

India is an important market for a lot of technology companies, so it is no surprise that it is usually one of the early destinations when a company is expanding to new markets. The new appointee is Manu Sharman, an ex-Samsung VP. Mr. Sharma will take on the role of General Manager of Nothing India according to a report by the Times of India. He will also hold the title of Vice President of the company. Prior to his move to Nothing, he was the head of product strategy at Samsung up until December 2020.

What is FileRepMalware and how to remove the virus?

Earlier, we discussed IDP.Generic virus, which was detected by the third-party Antivirus software installed on your PC. In some cases, those are false-positive threats. We had provided different kinds of solutions to fix the same. Another threat that is shown by the third-part Antivirus software is the FileRepMalware threat. If you guys remember, AVG and Avast detected those, and the same is being repeated here too. These types of third-party software often identify these types of files. With this article, we will discuss the authenticity of these viruses. We will also include different solutions for fixing the same.

what is filerep manager

Must See: Google Chrome, Firefox, and other browsers suffer from a widespread malware campaign

Note: GizmoChina is not endorsing the use of pirated software, we are just publishing the facts for the users who often get a virus warning.

What is the FileRepMalware virus identified by third-party apps?

The AntiVirus software that detects these viruses, like FileRepMalware, are mostly from some cracked software and apps like KMSpico. If you don’t know what KMSpico is, it helps you activate your Windows 10 and Microsoft Office. As of now, there are no reports from users that KMSpico had stolen their files or like. We meant that showing a threat that the KMSpico files are infected is just a gimmick that all AntiVirus, both defender and third-party Antivirus programs prompts.

Earlier, the error was known as Win32:Evo-gen [Susp]. The first part of the error, i.e., the Win32, suggests that those files are created for the Windows Operating System. And the latter part tells us that it is a file that is related to the Trojan virus. Don’t worry, and these are just based on some scores calculated by AntiVirus software. There are chances for FileRepMalware to be and not be a Trojan virus. These virus types can be seen on Adware, Unwanted ads, Pop-up Virus, Infected email attachments, External media infected with malware, Infected files on Peer-to-peer (P2) file-sharing networks, and Fake updates.

How does this third-party AntiVirus software identify these files?

As we said, these FileRepMalware tags are given by third-party software. The Anit-Virus software provides the virus title if the publisher does not sign applications or the AntiVirus software doesn’t trust the signature. Moreover, it occurs if a large number of users have not used the file, or if the file is not added to the whitelist section.

Solution 1: Check with VirusTotal if the file is affected or not?

If you don’t know what is VirusTotal? Then, is an online software used to check whether a file is safe. For this, find the location of the FileRepMalware detected by your antivirus software. Now open the Virustotal website on your browser and tap on the File option. Then click on Choose files and select the files which your AntiVirus software has identified. If it is safe, then you can keep it, else delete the same immediately.

Solution 2: Uninstall Adware from your PC using Control Panel

The first step to remove these FileRepMalware viruses is by removing Adware that has been installed on your device. If you don’t know, then you can follow the below-mentioned steps.

  • Open the Start menu and then search for Run. Or you can open it by pressing Windows Key + R.
  • Then enter the Control Panel in the dialogue box, and it will open the same.
  • You can also open the Control Panel by clicking on the Desktop icon or searching from the Start menu.
  • Now tap on Programs and Features in the Windows, which pop-up.
  • From here, select and remove the unwanted applications which you have installed.

Or you can use Malwarebytes to remove these potential affected. If you don’t know how to use this, you can follow the below-mentioned steps.

Solution 3: By using Malwarebytes Free version!

  • For this, first, download the software from their official website.
  • Once it has been downloaded, install the same on your PC. It will ask for permission to modify the system, and you should permit that.
  • There will be many on-screen instructions, and you can install them by following those things. The setup will ask if it’s your Work computer or personal computer.
  • Select according to your wish and then continue the installation process.
  • Once the program opens, tap on the Get Started button to start the process. It will ask for you to choose between free and premium versions. You can buy the premium version if you can afford it. But for our use, the free version is more than enough. So tap on the Free button.
  • Now tap on the Scan button to start scanning, and the application will scan the entire files on your PC.
  • Like any other app, it will take some time to scan the whole file. It’ll show a Quarantine button if it has found any viruses after reviewing. Tap on the same to delete those viruses. It will delete those malicious files and registry keys.
  • Restart your PC to complete the process.

Solution 3: Remove all plugins and extensions installed in your Google Chrome or other browsers.

Some plugins may contain viruses which may create problems. To solve this, remove every extension which you have installed in your browser. Only install those which you can download from official websites. And read reviews of extensions before installing the same.

Solution 4: Use File Unlocker and Deleter to delete those infected files identified by your AntiVirus software.

If the files are affected by viruses, sometimes you can’t delete those files. Because the system would block these files, and you need specific apps to remove those malicious files. You can search on Google to find those applications.

These are the four different solutions available to remove the FileRepMalware virus. One of the main reasons for these viruses is using fake Windows, pirated software, and installing unwanted extensions. What we meant to say is that the virus identified by your AntiVirus software may be legit or not. Always download Windows 10 ISO from Microsoft’s website for safety reasons. Another one is from email attachments which spammers often send. Always use AntiVirus software to make your system safe.
