Inside sources have made some claims about the fate of the Samsung Galaxy Note series. The Note series had, until recently, been Samsung’s flagship offering and the only Samsung phone with the S Pen feature. As we know, the Galaxy S21 Ultra also has a stylus and Samsung may also extend it to other models.
Tipsters had been predicting that the S pen technology was being extended to other models, as plans are underfoot to replace the Note series with foldable phones of the Z series.
It would thus seem very obvious that the Galaxy Note series may be winding down, although it remains unclear whether it will come back as maybe the Galaxy Note 21 before the year runs out.
The recent insider information coming from Samsung indicates that indeed a decision has been reached to retire the Note series. The decision might be to the chagrin of fans and enthusiasts of the product.
In a tweet, well-known tipster, Ice Universe stated that the former flagship Note series may have seen its last days and that there will be no Galaxy Note 21, moving forward.
Another industry insider with some major leaks under his belt, Ross Young all but confirmed the veracity of the rumor, and he has suggested that it was possible that Samsung might release the Note 20 FE since it has undergone confirmation by the phone maker.
The sales projections for the Note and S series for 2020 fell flat as sales were hugely underwhelming, so the decision to discontinue the production of the Note series may be a cost-saving measure to revamp the sales traffic and overall outlook of the company for 2021. Indeed, the discontinuation may help firm up sales of the Galaxy S21 series.
This is the response by Samsung to an inquiry by Phonearena about the subject matter.
“We are committed to innovating new mobile experiences that flow seamlessly and continuously wherever we go to make consumer’s lives easier and better. To bring this to life, we made a bold decision to expand S Pen experiences as an option for Galaxy S21 Ultra. Consumers can expand the S Pen experience on S21 Ultra by drawing and annotating their sharable moments. As Galaxy S21 Ultra aims to provide the ultimate premium smartphone experience without compromise, users can enjoy one of the most popular and preferred features of our Note category.
It does not mean that Samsung is not committed to the Note category but is expanding the Note experience across device categories. To provide the best mobile experience to all consumers, we will actively listen to consumers’ feedback and reflect it in our continued product innovation.”
The beta version of Huawei’s HarmonyOS 2.0 has been released on a few devices, including the P30 and Mate 30 Pro 5G. This product-in-development, the HarmonyOS is designed and structured on a distributed operating system architecture, with the capability to function in a variety of devices. It is part of Huawei’s strategy to provide a versatile OS with great adaptability for a whole gamut of applications.
The user interface of the Harmony OS 2.0 is EMUI 11, which is adaptable to both Harmony and Android. In addition, this OS, fully developed by Huawei, supports Android apps, so everything from the App Gallery should work.
There is not so much to see. Apart from how Android apps are fluid. I doubt that they are native apps. However, what could make Harmony OS so fast to running android apps? Can't wait to discover 🙂 pic.twitter.com/yyiVbHztza
OpenHarmony, the open-source core component of the operating system, is hosted on Gitee, which is seen as China’s version of Microsoft’s GitHub. Harmony OS 2.0 is also part of the OpenAtom Foundation, with Huawei a major-grade donor. Other donors include Tencent, Baidu, and Alibaba. The OpenAtom Foundation mirrors the Open Handset Alliance, for the Android OS collaboration and development.
HarmonyOS 2.0 beta has already been launched on some devices and many more may come on stream thereafter. Honor, which has become independent of Huawei, is weighing its options and has not ruled out using the HarmonyOS.
HarmonyOS is designed to seamlessly integrate various smart devices to implement fast connection and a whole raft of activities between the devices. The design ensures that services can be seamlessly transferred among the devices to produce a smooth all-round experience.
HarmonyOS uses distributed technology to make application development possible on different device platforms in an efficient manner. In addition, the HarmonyOS deploys a component-based software design to fit itself to any particular device forms on the basis of their individual characteristics.
A lot of flagship killers from Chinese manufacturers are hitting the market in the last months. In December, the OPPO Reno5 Pro was officially announced, then Vivo X60 Pro went official as well. If you want a flagship phone sold at a modest price, then these devices are definitely among the greatest choices you can do. But there is an older device sold in the same price range which may catalyze your attention even more: the OnePlus 8T. All of these devices are actually available in the Chinese market they carry similar prices: do you want to know which one is the best? Then check this comparison between the specifications of the OnePlus 8T, Oppo Reno5 Pro, and Vivo X60 Pro.
OnePlus 8T vs OPPO Reno5 Pro vs Vivo X60 Pro
OnePlus 8T
Oppo Reno5 Pro
Vivo X60 Pro
DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHT
160.7 x 74.1 x 8.4 mm, 188 g
159.7 x 73.2 x 7.6 mm, 173 g
158.6 x 73.2 x 7.6 mm, 178 g
DISPLAY
6.55 inches, 1080 x 2400p (Full HD+), Fluid AMOLED
6.55 inches, 1080 x 2400p (Full HD+), Super AMOLED
The OnePlus 8T has definitely the ugliest design. A lot of people will like the fact that it has a flat display instead of the curved screens found on OPPO Reno 5 Pro and Vivo X60 Pro, but the screen-to-body ratio is lower and the overall look is less impressive. With their curved displays, OPPO Reno5 Pro and Vivo X60 Pro look more elegant. The OPPO Reno5 Pro is my favorite one because of its more beautiful camera module: it is even the most lightweight phone of the trio. All of these phones are built with a glass back and an aluminum frame, so premium materials just like the most expensive flagships.
Display
The most advanced displays belong to the OnePlus 8T and the Vivo X60 Pro. They have more or less the same specifications and there are marginal differences between them, so we won’t pick a single winner in this comparison. You would better focus on the other specifications. We prefer them over the OPPO Reno5 Pro due to their higher refresh rate: up to 120 Hz, while OPPO Reno5 Pro stops at 90 Hz. They both feature a Full HD+ resolution, the AMOLED technology, and the HDR10+ certification. On each phone, you get an in-display fingerprint scanner.
Hardware/Software
According to the AnTuTu benchmark, the Exynos 1080 found on the Vivo X60 Pro is the most powerful chipset of this comparison. It scores higher than the Snapdragon 865 found in the OnePlus 8T, and the Dimensity 1000+ found on the OPPO Reno5 Pro is actually less powerful than the Snapdragon 865. Further, the Exynos 1080 is built with a better production process: 5 nm instead of 7 nm. Vivo X60 Pro features 12 GB of RAM and UFS 3.1 native storage, while OPPO Reno5 Pro gets slower UFS 2.1 storage. So the ranking sees Vivo X60 Pro at the first place, followed by OnePlus 8T and OPPO Reno5 Pro. All the phones ship with Android 11 out of the box.
Camera
The winner of the camera comparison is the Vivo X60 Pro. It features a 48 MP main sensor with a brighter f/1.5 focal aperture, a periscope sensor with 5x optical zoom and an 8 MP resolution, a 13 MP ultrawide sensor with 2x optical zoom for portraits, dual OIS, and a 13 MP ultrawide camera. OnePlus 8T comes right after with a 48 MP quad-camera and OIS, including a 16 MP ultrawide sensor. OPPO Reno5 Pro has a midrange-class camera department without OIS and with a 64 MP main sensor.
Battery
The OnePlus 8T has a bigger 4500 mAh battery and it provides a longer battery life. OnePlus 8T and OPPO Reno5 Pro feature a faster 65W charging technology. Vivo X60 Pro has slower charging and a smaller battery than both its rivals.
Price
OnePlus 8T is priced at about €416/$507 in China, OPPO Reno5 Pro starts at €410/$500, and Vivo X60 Pro has a €575/$700 listing price. The Vivo X60 Pro is the best device for this comparison due to its better cameras and strong chipset, but its value for money is lower. The OnePlus 8T actually provides a higher quality-price ratio than the Vivo X60 Pro thanks to its street prices (it is older), while OPPO Reno5 Pro sits in the middle.
Snapdragon 888 is about to hit us again with the new Vivo X60 Pro Plus 5G. We already saw what the Snapdragon 888 powered can accomplish, and now Vivo has announced their flagship. The naming scheme Vivo went with might be a bit longer when compared to Xiaomi’s Mi 11, but we expect it can accomplish a lot more.
The X60 Pro Plus 5G was announced on January 21st, and the phone is already available for purchase at Giztop for a price as low as $899. As said earlier, it comes with the Snapdragon 888 Mobile Platform which also houses the Adreno 660 GPU. It has a 6.56-inch 120Hz Super AMOLED Full HD+ display with a punch hole in the middle. The camera comes with a Quad camera setup for the rear and a single 32MP selfie camera. While the rear module comes in a beefy 48MP+50MP+32MP+8MP configuration.
The device comes with a minimum RAM of 8GB and can go up to 12GB. As for
storage, the user can choose between 128GB or 256GB storage. The 4200mAh battery (though not massive in 2021) combined with the 55W fast-charging, will definitely give you enough juice for the day. It runs on the OriginOS 1.0, which is based on Android 10 OS.
The device comes with Jovi, VIVO’s new personal assistant. However, the users should note that the phone listed on Giztop is a Chinese Edition. But you’ll have complete access to the Google Mobile services as well as the Google Play Store. The device supports all major 4G LTE bands in Asia, Europe and Australia. You can buy it if you live in any of these three regions. This is one of the very few available in the market to run on the Snapdragon 888, so we recommend that you don’t waste your time. And as someone said, “Good things come to those who wait, but the best things come to those who don’t”.

The year 2021 has just begun but Samsung has already launched a bunch of smartphones, including the Galaxy S21 series. Now, it seems like the company is gearing up to release its first tablets of 2021 as one of them has been spotted on Geekbench revealing certain specs.
This upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab will come with model number SM-T225. According to its Geekbench listing, it will be powered by MediaTek MT8768WT chipset.
Further, the forthcoming Samsung tablet will feature 3GB RAM and thankfully, it will run Android 11, unlike some recently launched budget Galaxy smartphones.
Nothing else is known about this Galaxy Tab, apart from the above-mentioned features and its Geekbench score, which happens to be 810 points and 3439 points for single core and multi-core tests respectively.
That said, the Samsung SM-T225 could be the Galaxy Tab A 8.4” (2021) whose 3D CAD renders were leaked earlier. But we think that the chances are low as last year’s Galaxy Tab A 8.4” (2020) features the model number SM-T307, which is larger. So this one could be a cheaper model instead.
Samsung Galaxy A52 is inching closer to launch at least that’s what the recent leaks suggest. Today, we get more information on the device with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi certifications.
A Samsung device with model number SM-A526B, SM-A526N, SM-A5260 gets Wi-Fi Alliance and SM-A526B, SM-A526B/DS gets Bluetooth SIG certifications. The last letter/number on the model number indicates its variant for different markets. If you recall, a device with similar model number(SM-A526B) appeared on HTML5 test page.
These model numbers are likely the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A52 according to previous reports. Earlier leak said that it will measure 159.9 x 75.1 x 8.4mm and will resemble the predecessor with only a few changes. Accordingly, the SM-A5260 also appeared on China’s 3C certification with a 15W charger like the Galaxy A51.

Anyway, the Wi-Fi certification shows that it will support both 2.4 and 5GHz Wi-Fi standards and run Android 11 which is already hinted by the HTML5 test. Similarly, Bluetooth SIG shows that the device will have Bluetooth 5.0. Apart from this, these certifications don’t give away anything else.
Galaxy A52 – Specifications(Expected)
However, thanks to the leakers, we can talk about the specs of the device. The Galaxy A52 is widely expected to come to both in 5G and 4G versions. Unsurprisingly, the 5G version is also heading to countries like India.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 720/750G chipset is expected to power the 4G/5G versions respectively. Other probable specs include a 6.5-inch Infinity-O AMOLED display, 64MP quad-camera setup, and more.
A leaked prototype images also hint that the device will have a 3.5mm audio jack, Type-C ports at the bottom, and a rectangular rear-camera layout like the Galaxy A51.

Samsung has kicked off 2021 with a bunch of budget smartphones and the Galaxy S21 series. Now, Galaxy Tab A 8.4” (2021), which could be the company’s first tablet of this year, leaks in 3D CAD renders revealing its entire design and dimensions.
The renders of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.4” (2021) were shared by MySmartPrice.
That said, the renders reveal the forthcoming Samsung budget tablet to feature an identical design to its predecessor Galaxy Tab A 8.4” (2020). The only difference is that the newer model will be slightly thinner as it will measure 201.9 x 125.2 x 7mm in dimensions, instead of 202 x 125.2 x 7.1 mm.
Further, as its name suggests, this tablet will come with an 8.4-inch display on the front along with a selfie camera in the top bezel. Whereas, on the back, it will sport a single camera on the top left corner.
Then, the right side will include a power key and volume rockers, the bottom side will house a USB Type-C port flanked by speaker grilles on either side, and the top side will feature a secondary microphone hole and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Finally, the left side will include a slot for a microSD card and a SIM card (cellular variant only).

All of these confirm that just like last year’s model, the new one will also lack a fingerprint sensor. And above all, it is not known when this tablet will be officially unveiled. But going by its predecessor, we can expect Samsung to announce it in March.

A month ago, a realme device with model number RMA2008 got listed on FCC as the realme Buds Q2. Now, the TWS with another model number appears on both FCC and India’s BIS certifications suggesting an imminent launch.
Spotted by Mukul Sharma, a realmedevice with model number RMA2010 appears on the BIS database. This model number also appears on America’s FCC certification website. The model number has a ‘realme Buds Q2‘ moniker attached to it. The images also show a Pale Green and Black color variants.
Interestingly, the Pale Green color earbuds also have the Black silicone ear-tips. Talking about the design, the charging case is oval and similar to the realme Buds Q. However, the earbuds with angled ear tips, have a flat base on the other sides suggesting that touch controls will have more area of operation.
1 of 10
If you recall, the original realme Buds Q, which launched in June 2020, didn’t get appreciated much for the pebble-shaped earbud’s touch controls. Hence, the company could have modified the area to improve the response. As for specs, the FCC listing shows a 40mAh battery on each earbuds and 400mAh on the charging case.
Sadly, the FCC listing also reveals that the charging port on the realme Buds Q2 will be a micro-USB. This is disappointing considering it’s 2021 and I feel brands should fix at least the Type-C port as minimum standard.
As for the launch date, Mukul Sharma claims that the Buds Q2 will launch “very soon” in India which might be as soon as next month. As for Global launch, we can expect it to launch in other Asian markets like Indonesia too. Let’s wait for the official confirmation to know about price and other specs.
Chinese smartphone maker realme launched its first smartwatch called realme Watch in the first half of 2020. In the second half, the brand released two more wearables in the form of realme Watch S and realme Watch S Pro. Last week, the successors to the original watch, dubbed as realme Watch 2 and realme Watch 2 Pro were spotted in the realme Link app. Now, the vanilla realme Watch 2 has leaked in detail, thanks to its FCC certification.
According to FCC, the upcoming realme Watch 2 with model number RMW2008 and FCC ID: 2AUYFRMW2008 will be similar to its predecessor in most cases.
It will come with a single hardware key (power button) and a 1.4-inch square-shaped TFT LCD panel with a resolution of 320 x 320 pixels. Going by live pictures and renders, the wearable will feature a plastic build and a silicon strap with the brand’s slogan – ‘DARE TO LEAP’.
Further, the smartwatch will support 24-hour heart-rate monitoring (using PPG heart rate sensor), blood oxygen level monitoring (using Sp02 sensor), multiple workout modes, sleep tracking, meditation mode, app notifications, and music controls.

Last but not least, this IP68-certified realme smartwatch, backed by a 305mAh battery, will connect with smartphones running Android 5.0 and above via Bluetooth 5.0 LE and measures 257.6×35.7×12.2mm in dimensions.
That said, realme is yet to tease the launch of this product, let alone announce the launch date.
At the very beginning of this year, Xiaomi surprised the Redmi K30 4G users in China with Android 11 update. A couple of weeks later, the device’s Indian Version, POCO X2 is getting the latest OS update.
POCO X2 users in India will get a new MIUI 12.1 version update with firmware version 12.1.2.0.RGHINXM. This update not only bundles a few bug fixes, security patches but also includes stable Android 11. It reportedly weighs 2.6GB and is currently rolling out to the device via OTA(Over-The-Air) update.
As mentioned above, the update also brings the latest January 2021 security patch along with it. You can take a look at the changelog below:
Optimizations:
Noise could be heard when the screen was turned off in some cases
Updated Android Security Patch to January 2021. Increased system security.
Stable MIUI based on Android 11
With this, POCO X2 becomes the first POCO in India to get the Android 11 update. As for the Global tally, we already have the POCO F2 Pro running on a stable version. This is not the only first for the X2 in India. Back in August, it became the first smartphone in India to get the MIUI 12 update.
Now that POCO has checked the year-old X2 update mark, it’s next target should be the budget devices POCO M2 Pro, and its sibling POCO M2 in the country.
Anyway, the new update also fixes a critical creaking noise bug that occurred in certain screen-off scenarios. If you are living in India, you can try out the update by navigating to the update section in Settings. Consequently, if you are impatient to wait for the phased rollout to appear, you can download it here and install it manually.
A new report has suggested that Apple is working on a new headset, which will also be the forerunner to the company’s eventual AR Glasses. Sources close to the matter have stated that the company is already working on this AR headset.
According to a Bloombergreport, the new headset will be an expensive and “niche” predecessor to the company’s more ambitious augmented reality products that will arrive in the future. While the Cupertino based giant has been rumored to be working on such a headset, the sources have claimed that the company is facing several hurdles in its development at the moment. This headset would also be the first new major product line since the Apple Watch.
Xiaomi VR Headset
As per the report, Apple is currently facing difficulties in development and only expects modest sales of its new product. The device will lean more towards virtual reality, for the purpose of gaming, watching videos, and even communication. So, we can expect it to only have limited augmented reality capabilities. For those unaware, VR is basically displaying 3D digitally rendered environments, while AR overlays images and information over a view of the real world.
Unfortunately, the report also mentions that this Apple product might be more expensive than most of the current market competitors. While a headset from is rival can cost between 300 to 900 US Dollars, the sources have claimed that the Apple product will be far more expensive and that the company only expects to sell one headset per day per retail store as its price could reach up to the 5,999 US Dollars Mac Pro desktop computer.
The headset is codenamed N301 and is currently in the late prototype stage in development. So, Apple has no finalized plans for a possible launch. Furthermore, the AR Glasses from the company is codenamed N421 and is in the early stage known as “architecture” at the moment. This implies that the company is working on ironing out the technology that will be used in the product. Thus, it is still too early to provide any concrete statements. So stay tuned for more updates.
Nubia’s Red Magic has already teased the Red Magic 6 gaming smartphone. The device, as per the company’s statement at Snapdragon Summit, we can expect at least two devices in ‘Red Magic 6 Series’. Ahead of the imminent launch, an alleged live image of the device has appeared online.
First and foremost, is the ‘Tencent Games’ tagline on it suggesting a Tencent Games Edition of the Red Magic 6. To affirm this, Nubia GM Ni Fei has posted a picture of the Tencent building at Shenzhen teasing the collab more. Next, is the horizontally stacked cameras. We aren’t sure if it’s a quad-camera layout as only three sensors are visible in the image.
Besides, if you recall, the Red Magic 5S had a vertical Triple-camera arrangement. Anyway, looking at the rest of the image, we can see the device in Gray color having an X-shape in the middle with silver accents. The top of the layout has ‘AI Camera’ and Nubia branding beneath and a ‘Red Magic’ at the bottom.

Red Magic 6 Tencent Edition Teased
The sides of the ‘X’ design has few grille on both sides. This suggests that the in-built cooling fan might be present there to vent out the air. The Red Magic 6 is already confirmed to debut with Snapdragon 888 chipset. The entire series will likely have a Red Magic 6, Red Magic 6 Pro but isn’t outrightly confirmed yet.
The company has also confirmed that the Red Magic 6 will boast a 4,500mAh battery which is the same as the predecessor. However, it will get amped up in charging tech with a 120W fast charging support compared to 55W on Red Magic 5S. Intel has just reported on its fourth quarter earnings earlier today (22nd January 2021). In the report, the company noted a strong quarter and a record year, while also promising an update on its 7nm process.
The known chip maker stated that it has apparently fixed its 7nm process but still plans on outsourcing some plans, as per a TomsHardwarereport. Intel is planning to contract out the production of some of its leading edge products. Previously, we had reported on team blue outsourcing the production of its Core i3 processors to TSMC, the world’s largest contract chipmaker. Furthermore, Intel’s upcoming CEO Pat Gelsinger added that he has personally reviewed the progress of the updated 7nm process.
The senior executive said that he was pleased with the “health and recovery of the 7nm program.” He further added that Intel will be using external foundries for some of its products. The upcoming CEO is also confident that the majority of the company’s 2023 CPU products will mostly be from its own factories. Further plans regarding production will be unveiled at a later date, after Gelsinger takes the lead in February 2021.

Notably, Intel has also noted great performance in its mobile chips that are found in laptops. Thanks to affordable notebooks, the company’s PC business saw a significant rise of 33 percent year on year in the fourth quarter of last year. During this time, the average price of notebooks dropped by 15 percent, which further helped boost the sales of laptops with Intel chips, as per an Engadgetreport. The bump in sales was also backed by the pandemic that made remote working and online education the new norm as well.
The HONOR Watch GS Pro is the brand’s first rugged smartwatch. It was first unveiled at IFA 2020 in early September. In the same month, it went on sale in multiple regions, including China. Now, four months later, the company has launched a special version of this watch called ‘HONOR Watch GS Pro Mysterious Starry Sky Edition’ in its home country alongside HONOR V40 5G and HONOR MagicBook 14/15 2021.
There’s nothing new about the HONOR Watch GS Pro Mysterious Starry Sky Edition, except for design and special watch faces. This variant of the watch is co-designed with Discovery, Inc., a well-known media company known for infotainment TV channels.
Unlike the regular version, the special edition of this smartwatch features copper-accented keys and stainless steel bezels with additional etches, such as ‘DISCOVERY’ and ‘HONOR WATCH GS PRO’ at the top. Whereas, the polycarbonate part of the wearable’s chassis and the strap are black in color.
You might be wondering why copper color although the watch is called Mysterious Starry Sky. That’s because this special edition smartwatch’s design is inspired by the planet Venus, which is shown clearly in the custom watch faces with the Discovery logo.
That said, despite being a limited edition product, HONOR has priced this watch at only ¥1,399 ($216), the current selling price of the regular variant. For those unaware, this wearable initially debuted for ¥1,599 ($247) in China.
