A few days back, Honor launched 2020 Ryzen Editions of MagicBook Pro and MagicBook 14/15 in China. At the same event, the brand also unveiled two new tablets and one of them was Honor Pad 6. This tablet was scheduled to go on sale on July 28. But due to harsh weather conditions and flood, the company has officially delayed the sale.
Honor Pad 6, which we called Honor Tab 6 during its launch is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 710A manufactured by SMIC. It comes in a number of storage options and is also available in both only WiFi as well as 4G variants.
The tablet went on sale for the first time on the launch day (July 16) itself for a limited quantity. However, the first official sale was scheduled for July 28, which happens to be tomorrow. But last night, the brand officially announced on Weibo regarding the pushing of sale date to August 14 on account of the weather.
Also, the post notes that customers who pre-ordered can cancel to avail refund if they don’t want to wait that long. But if they can cope up with the delay, the brand will offer 50 yuan ($7) discount coupon as an apology.
Having said that, here’s the pricing of the new Honor Pad 6 in China.
Huawei, which has been facing a lot of heat from the Western market, especially the United States, is now facing a similar situation with one of the largest markets in the world and Asia’s third-largest economy — India.
According to the report from The Economic Times, Huawei Technologies has cut down its India revenue target for the on-going year by up to 50 percent. On top of it, the Chinese giant is also laying off more than half of its staff in the country.
The development comes amid growing anti-Chinese sentiments in the Indian market following the India-China border dispute about a month ago. Further, the government has also asked telecom firms to use locally-made equipment for 4G instead of Chinese.
As per the report adds that Huawei is now targeting $350-500 million in revenue from the Indian market for the year 2020. Previously, the company was aiming for around $700-800 million in revenue from India.
The Chinese telecom equipment giant is also cutting around 60 to 70 percent of the staff in India. However, the report adds that people employed in Research & Development as well as Global Service Centre won’t be affected by this move.
Amid growing tensions with China, the Indian government has banned 59 Chinese applications in the country, including popular short-video social media platform TikTok. In response, China has alleged that the move is a violation of WTO policies.
Samsung had been dominating the Indian smartphone market for many years, but the was outperformed by Xiaomi, which has been holding the lead position in the Indian smartphone market for several quarters now.
In the last quarter ending in March, i.e. Q1 2020, the South Korean giant had slipped to the third position in India, after Xiaomi and Vivo. But the company has managed to come back to the second position. Not only that, but the company has also made substantial growth and is closing the gap to again become the leading brand.
According to the data released by Counterpoint Research, Samsung grabbed 26 percent of the Indian smartphone maker share in Q2 2020, just three percent short of Xiaomi, which holds a 29 percent market share.
The numbers show major improvements for Samsung, which, according to IDC, had a 15.6 percent market share in Q1 2020. Samsung had almost half the market share of Xiaomi, which led the market with a 31.2 percent share.
In Q2 2020, Vivo, Realme, and OPPO stood at third, fourth, and fifth position with 17 percent, 11 percent, and 9 percent market share, respectively. In the top five smartphone brands, Samsung is the only non-Chinese company.
However, the report notes that the shipments for Samsung in Q2 2020 halved to just 18 million units, mainly because of the nation-wide lockdown for over two months as an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19. To compare, the company had shipped over 31 million units in Q1 2020.
In the premium and ultra-premium smartphone segments, OnePlus and Apple grabs the lead position respectively. However, none of them made it to the top five smartphone brands in the market in the second quarter.
Samsung is at an advantage in the Indian market and it won’t be surprising if the company again becomes the leading smartphone brand in this quarter because of the anti-Chinese sentiments in India.
Samsung is known for its massive portfolio of smartphones. The company offers handsets in every price segment. As 5G is being deployed around the world, the South Korean tech giant is readying cheap affordable 5G smartphones. The chaebol has already launched devices like Galaxy A51 5G and Galaxy A71G but it is not going to stop with them. The Galaxy A42 5G, which came into light last month has been now spotted at China’s 3C certification bureau.
The upcoming Galaxy A42 5G is expected to be the cheapest 5G smartphone from the house of Samsung. Its is said to release sometime in 2021 according to a report by SamMobile. The handset is reported to arrive with 128GB internal storage in three color options namely Gray, Black, and White.
Now, the 3C listing of the handset spotted by 91Mobilesreveals it to feature a 4,860 mAh (rated capacity) battery with model number EB-BA426ABY. That means the typical value will be 5,000 mAh and the company will advertise the same, which is lesser than the battery present in the forthcoming Galaxy M31s
As per the previous report, the Galaxy A42 will come in both 4G and 5G (SM-A426B ) variants. Since it has been certified well before its launch schedule of 2021, we can expect Samsung to debut the 4G variant earlier in countries without 5G infrastructure.
Lei Jun, founder and CEO of Xiaomi had recently teased the arrival of a new flagship smartphone — Mi 10 Pro Plus. As the name itself indicates, the phone is an upgraded variant of the existing flagship — Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro.
Today, he has shared a new post on Weibo related to the launch of Mi 10 Pro Plus. From the post, it seems that the company is planning to host an in-person launch event in China. Further, it appears that Lei Jun himself will host the launch event.
Lei Jun, Founder and CEO of Xiaomi
This is an exciting development given that the in-person launch events have not been taking place for more than four months now due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But as most countries are opening up, there’s a possibility of physical launch events.
However, do note that this is not yet confirmed and it’s speculation at this point in time, based on the post by the company’s CEO on Weibo. We expect more information regarding this in the coming days.
As for the smartphone, Lei Jun has hinted about several features that could be a part of the upcoming Mi 10 Pro Plus smartphone. The features include Dual Speakers, high refresh rate display, 3.5mm headphone jack, NFC, Infrared sensor, 30x and more zoom support, Front and rear optical sensors, VC heat sink, 4500mAh battery, and wireless charging.
It’s likely that the Mi 10 Pro Plus will come with a 120Hz AMOLED display and pack Snapdragon 865 chipset or the newly announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus SoC. It will have a quad-camera setup on the back with 100 MP primary sensor, optimized for better zoom capabilities.
It will be running the Android 10 operating system out-of-the-box with MIUI 12 on top. The phone, powered by a 4,500mAh or bigger battery, will likely have support for 120W Mi Turbo fast charging technology.
We expect Xiaomi to share more details about this smartphone as well as shed some more light on the phone’s launch event. To know more, we will have to wait for a few more days.

Vivo announced the Vivo S6 5G selfie-focused phone in March in China. It received a good reception in the home market as its sales surpassed 1 million mark in just 2 months. Recent reports have revealed that Vivo may launch the Vivo S7 5G as its successor in August. Today, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer confirmed through Weibo that it will be launching the Vivo S7 5G phone on Aug. 3 at 7:30 PM (local time) in China. A Chinese tipster had recently revealed the key specs of the device. Today, the same tipster shared two leaked images to reveal the design of the smartphone.
The above-shown video released by Vivo confirms the Aug. 3 launch date for the Vivo S7 5G. It also reveals that the smartphone has an ultra-thin design. The front and rear design of the phone is not shown in the video. However, a tipster has revealed some vital information about its appearance.
The leaked images shown below show that the Vivo S7 5G will have a wide notch like older phones like the Vivo X21. In March, Black Shark unveiled the Snapdragon 865 powered Black Shark 3 and Black Shark 3 Pro gaming smartphones. Earlier this month, Qualcomm unveiled the enhanced Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset. Hence, it was speculated that an updated Black Shark 3 model with SD865+ onboard may go official soon. Last week, Black Shark CEO Luo Yuzhou teased the arrival of the new Black Shark 3S gaming smartphone. Today, the Chinese firm officially confirmed that it will be launching the Black Shark 3S phone in China on July 31.
The poster reveals that the launch event for the Black Shark 3S will be held at 3:00 PM (local time) on July 31. It has no information on the specs of the device.
A recent leak revealed that the company will not be launching an updated version of the Black Shark 3 Pro. The Black Shark 3S will be arriving as an updated edition of the Black Shark 3. Hence, it is unlikely to carry any change in the design. The inclusion of the Snapdragon 865 Plus mobile platform could be the only major change on the Black Shark 3S. Its S-AMOLED screen may support a higher refresh rate.
The Black Shark 3 has a 6.67-inch AMOLED display that offers a 90Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution. The Joy UI based Android 10 OS runs on the Black Shark 3. The SD865 phone has up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage.

Last week, two flagship gaming smartphones were announced. The first is the Lenovo Legion Phone Duel which is the manufacturer’s first gaming phone, and the other is the ROG Phone 3, ASUS‘ third gaming phone.
Both phones are powerful devices: featuring Qualcomm’s flagship chipset – the Snapdragon 865 Plus processor and packing up to 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and up to 512GB UFS 3.1 storage. They also have pretty cool features to make mobile gaming more enjoyable such as 144Hz refresh rates, stereo speakers, and trigger buttons.
For this week’s poll, we want to know which of the two phones you prefer.
Just as the title says – Choose your fighter. Is it the new player in the gaming smartphone scene, the Lenovo Legion Phone Duel? Or is it the ASUS ROG Phone 3, the successor to the former champion? Please take the poll below and let us know. Also, do share in the comment box below why you prefer one over the other.
The ROG Phone 3 launched a few days ago as one of the most powerful Android smartphones ever released. Early reviews of the phone have called it insanely fast, thanks to its Snapdragon 865 Plus processor and its 144Hz refresh rate. It has now been revealed that the ROG Phone 3 has a hidden 160Hz refresh rate mode.
The discovery was made by XDA-Developers Editor-in-Chief, Mishaal Rahman, and he also found a way to activate it. According to a published post on the discovered feature, he found references to the high refresh rate mode in the settings app when trying to find out how the phone switches between refresh rates.
He eventually found a debug command that allows the option to set the refresh rate to 160Hz appear in the settings menu. You can check the source article for the procedure which involves setting up ADB on your PC. When done, the 160Hz refresh rate option should be available for you to choose under display settings.
To find out if it worked, you can test the refresh rate by downloading the Fluid Simulation app and proceed to set the refresh rate inside the app’s settings to 160Hz.
It appears that ASUS probably wasn’t done testing the feature which is why it was hidden. Hopefully, a future update will unlock the feature for all users without the need to go through the ADB process.
The fingerprint scanner has occupied several positions on phones. From sitting on the rear to moving to the side or to the bottom of the screen and even under the display, we have practically seen it all. However, this new device puts it in an unusual position, one that is actually not as impractical as you might think.
The phone is manufactured by DOOV, a Chinese phone manufacturer, and it has the model number 20200519. According to images included in its TENAA listing, the phone has its fingerprint scanner housed alongside the rear cameras.
That doesn’t sound unusual until you see that its cameras are actually not positioned in the middle but are on the left side of the device in a very similar arrangement to that of Samsung’s Galaxy S20 Ultra. So along with the triple rear cameras, the rectangular housing is also home to the fingerprint scanner.
While the position is definitely unusual, users with large hands should not find it too difficult to use as the index finger can actually reach the sensor For those with smaller hands, it is going to need a bit of stretching. This is because the DOOV 20200519 is pretty tall. It measures 179 x 87.3 x 9.6 millimeters no thanks to its 7.12-inch display.
Coming to the specs, the device has a resolution of 1080 x 2244 and the display appears to have a waterdrop notch for the selfie camera. There is a 2.3GHz octa-core processor under the hood and it is paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of expandable storage.
While the attached image shows that the phone has three rear cameras, TENAA mentions only two (16MP + 2MP or 21MP + 2MP). It also says the total number of cameras are three, counting the selfie camera too. Another weird thing about the phone is that it runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat which is pretty strange for a device that is launching in 2020.
DOOV rounds it off with a 6000mAh battery which should last pretty more than a day with minimum usage.
Alongside the Red Magic 5S, Nubia has revealed it will announce the Red Magic Wi-Fi 6 Gaming Router. The manufacturer has also sent out an unusual item as the invite to Tuesday’s launch event.
The Red Magic Wi-Fi 6 Gaming Router is shaped like a cube. The top itself has a Red Magic logo that glows red while “Wi-Fi 6” is inscribed on one of its sides. The router has a silver finish and the four corners of the top are air vents.
The post by Ni Fei, Nubia’s CEO, says the Wi-Fi 6 router brings support for game acceleration when connected to Red Magic phones. He also stated that the router uses a high-performance CPU and has OFDMA technology that allows multiple devices to enjoy the benefits of Wi-Fi 6 simultaneously. Also, the router uses a mesh network for wider coverage and stronger wall penetration.
In related news, Nubia has also sent out an unusual invite for its event on Tuesday, July 28. The device manufacturer sent a portable fan with a built-in retro brick game.
The fan has seven blades, comes in white, and has the familiar Red Magic logo in the middle. The handle has been made significantly wider compared to other portable fans. This is so that it can house the components of the game which includes a screen.
The event on Tuesday is said to be for the launch of the Red Magic 5S and a bunch of ecological products. So we expect other products other than the phone and the router will be announced on that day.
Realme has a new product line called the V-series and the first phone in the series is the Realme V5. It has already been revealed the phone will be announced tomorrow on July 27. Now, a listing on Tmall has revealed when it will go on sale and a few key specifications including the processor powering it.
According to the retail site, the Realme V5 will go on sale on August 3 at 14:00. That is exactly a week after it launches tomorrow.
The listing includes some key specs of the device, chief of them being the processor which is the new MediaTek Dimensity 720 5G chipset. It also includes the display size which is a 6.5-inch screen with a 1080 x 2400 resolution. As we already know, the Realme V5 has a punch hole in the top left corner of its screen.
TMall says the phone will be available in two configurations – 6GB RAM + 128GB and 8GB RAM + 128GB. There will also be three color variants – Silver, Blue, and “Light of Dawn”. Other mentioned specs are 48MP quad cameras, Android 10, and Dual-SIM support.
Also, the TMall listing says the Realme V5 has model number RMX2111. A phone with the model number has already been certified by TENAA and also had its full spec sheet publicized.
The TENAA spec sheet confirms the aforementioned specs. It also reveals the quad rear cameras are a 48MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP configuration while the selfie camera is a 16MP sensor. There is support for storage expansion (256GB max.) and the battery capacity is 4900mAh (~5000mAh).
The images on TENAA also show the phone has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner which should mean the screen is an LCD panel.
The price of the phone is unknown but we expect it to be pretty affordable with a starting price of under $200.
When it comes to noise-cancelling headphones, Sony’s WH-1000XM3 is perhaps the top contender for the best option available. But Samsung is hoping to wrestle that position from Sony with the launch of the AKG Y600 NC headphones with active noise cancellation alongside the Y400 headphones.
The Y600 NC offers 25 hours of wireless battery life with noise cancellation turned on and will offer 4 hours playback from a ten-minute charge. Two hours is required for a full charge over the USB-C connection.
Apart from noise cancellation, the headphones have smart ambient aware modes that can let external sound in through the mic along with your tunes (perfect for, say, when zooming around on an electric scooter), as well as a TalkThru option that will automatically dip the volume of your tunes when the headphones recognise you’re having a conversation. Music will automatically pause when you take off the headphones and resume when you replace them.
The over-ears feature memory foam cups and protein leather ear cushions. They also have some built-in savvy hardware controls too such as wind an ear cup to increase the volume, and double-tap the physical play button for voice assistant access, which supports Bixby and Google Assistant on Android, and Siri on iOS devices.
Weighing 322g, the headsets feature 40mm drivers and offer a frequency response range of 10Hz – 24kHz.
Samsung AKG Y400
The compact headphones are on instead of over-ears and are intended for comfort, weighing simply 170g. Offering 20-hour battery life, you’ll get 4 hours from a brief charge over USB-C. The headphones also come with the volume controlled by the earcups, as well as auto-play and pause. There is also ambient aware and TalkThru modes.
The Y400 features a 36mm driver and 20Hz to 20kHz response range.
Samsung AKG Y600 NC & Y400 Prices
The headphones are already available on Samsung UK store and will be sold by retail partners as well. Here are the prices;
The Y600 NC is available in Black, Gold and Silver with an RRP of £199.00
The Y400 is available in Black, Blue, Green, Pink and Rose Gold with an RRP of £109.00
The Redmi K30 Pro was announced in March and made available in four colors. Redmi has announced today that a fifth color variant will be unveiled tomorrow. However, we do not have to wait until tomorrow to know what it looks like as the new color variant has already been listed on Mi.com.
The teaser post on Weibo by Redmi says the new color variant takes inspiration from the beach with its “seawater, soft sand, and breeze”. And as you can see, it reflects in the color of the device which is a mix of marine blue (color of the sea) and brown (color of beach sand). A translation of the name of the new color variant on Xiaomi’s official website is “Aqua Skylight”.
The new color variant will be available in three configurations – 8GB RAM + 128GB, 12GB RAM + 128GB, and 8GB RAM + 256GB. Unfortunately, Redmi has decided to not make it available in the 6GB RAM + 128GB configuration. The Redmi K30 Pro Aqua Skylight should be available for purchase tomorrow.

Last year, Xiaomi announced its very first ebook reader called the MiReader. The product is exclusive to China but it may be getting a global release soon under the name MI Ebook Reader.
The MI Ebook Reader has been spotted on the database of the Bluetooth SIG. The device received its Bluetooth certification on July 23 and the certificate shows it will connect via Bluetooth 5.0.
Lately, Xiaomi has been launching outside China more of its non-smartphone products. Just a few weeks ago, it launched the Mi Portable Electric Air Compressor in India. The portable inflator launched in China more than a year ago before getting a global release. Its Mi Notebook PCs have also made their way out of China. So it is no surprise that it wants to launch its Ebook reader outside China.
The MiReader has a 6-inch e-Ink screen with a PPI of 221. There is also a 24-level adjustable front-lit LED, so owners can read in the dark. It is powered by an Allwinner processor paired with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. The e-book reader supports several file formats including epub, PDF, DOC, XLS, TXT, and PDF. Users can also sideload their own content onto the device.

Which design you should go for? In this case, it mostly depends on your tastes. Do you prefer having a beautiful look or a better build quality? If you like to have a modern and futuristic look, maybe OPPO A72 5G and Honor X10 5G are better choices for you. The former features a punch-hole design to get rid of bezels around the display, while the latter has a full-screen display thanks to a motorized pop-up camera. The Honor X10 also comes with a higher screen-to-body ratio. On the other hand, Redmi 10X offers a glass back for a more premium build quality. The glass back is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5, just like the display.
Display
The most stunning display belongs to the Redmi 10X. Despite being a very affordable device, it is one of the few to feature an AMOLED panel with more brilliant colors and deeper blacks than a typical IPS panel. Further, it features the HDR10+ certification for better image quality, especially on streaming platforms. The handset even comes with very high brightness: 600 nits, according to the company. OPPO A72 5G and Honor X10 are equipped with average IPS panels with a Full HD+ resolution, but they feature a high 90 Hz refresh rate. But given that Redmi 10X has a better image quality, we would not mind about its standard refresh rate.
Specs & Software
If you need the highest performance, choose the Honor X10. It is fueled by the Kirin 820 5G chipset which can be compared to the Snapdragon 765G in terms of CPU and GPU performance. You also get up to 8 GB of RAM. The silver medal goes to the Redmi 10X sporting a Dimensity 820 processor paired with up to 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of native storage. The OPPO A72 5G is the first phone with the Dimensity 720, but it is an inferior chipset to Kirin 820 5G and Dimensity 820. With Oppo A72 5G, Redmi 10X, and Honor X10, you get a highly-customized user interface based on Android 10.
Camera
According to the specs on the paper, the best camera quality should be provided by the OPPO A72 5G and Honor X10. It is still too early to give a definitive verdict since we did not test both the devices. But we can tell you that the sensors of the Redmi 10X are actually inferior to both OPPO A72 5G and Honor X10.
The Redmi 10X has the biggest battery and, thanks to its more efficient display and its higher battery capacity, it will last a lot more than its two rivals on a single charge. The Honor X10 comes right after with its 4300 mAh battery and 7 nm chipset. But we do not expect the OPPO A72 5G to be disappointing.
Price
Honor X10 has a €274/$319 starting price, Redmi 10X starts from €240/$280, and OPPO A72 5G costs €230/$197. Despite being more affordable, Redmi 10X is the best choice of this comparison for those who need a better display and longer battery life. But if you want better cameras and hardware, you should choose the Honor X10. With its great cameras and stereo speakers, the OPPO A72 5G sits in the middle and it will probably be a better option for a lot of people if it hits the global market, given that Huawei devices lack Google services.
