It is also offering customers to pay via interest-free 12 installments.

OPPO Find X2 Pro

The OPPO Find X2 Pro features a 6.7-inch OLED HDR10+ display with QHD+ screen resolution of 3168 x 1080 pixels and 120Hz refresh rate. The IP68 rated device is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 octa-core processor, coupled with Adreno 650 GPU.

In the camera department, the phone has a triple-camera setup on the back which includes a 48-megapixel primary sensor, coupled with a 12-megapixel sensor and a 13-megapixel sensor. On the front, there’s a 32-megapixel snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

In related news, Shen Yiren, Vice President of OPPO, has revealed in a new post on Weibo that the company won’t be refreshing the Find X-series with new devices in the second half of this year which totally makes sense given that the Find X-series has a product life cycle of more than a year.

Samsung confirms its Galaxy Unpacked event for August 5th

Samsung has confirmed that the company will be holding its Galaxy Unpacked event on 5th August and unlike the previous events, this one will be a virtual one because of the on-going COVID-19 pandemic.

The event will start at 10:00 AM ET and will be live-streamed on the company’s official website. While not yet confirmed, Samsung is expected to live-stream the event on its social media profiles as well.

Samsung Galaxy Unpacked August 5

The company has not yet confirmed what devices are getting launched at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. Samsung has said that it will be launching its “latest ecosystem of Galaxy devices designed to empower your life.”

However, it’s also certain that Samsung will be taking wraps off the Galaxy Note20 series. We are also expecting the South Korean giant to launch the next-generation Galaxy Z Fold 2 foldable smartphone as well as its smartwatch named Galaxy Watch 3 at the same event.

As per the reports, there will be at least two models in the next-generation Galaxy Note series — Samsung Galaxy Note20, Note20 Ultra. Recently, renders of the Ultra variant were leaked online, giving us a clear look at what to expect in terms of design.

The devices could be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 Plus chipset, with all the models supporting 5G connectivity, similar to the Galaxy S20 lineup. We are also expecting a better display and camera setup along with an improved S-Pen experience.

Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 will be a follow-up foldable smartphone from the company with which its two different foldable smartphone lineups will be combined into one. It is expected to have a 7.7-inch display with a punch-hole cutout on top. This one too is rumored to come powered by SD865 Plus SoC.

There are still lots of things that we don’t know about the products that Samsung has planned to launch at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event. However, since the event in just a month from now, we expect to get more information as the launch date nears.

POCO M2 Pro vs Motorola One Fusion+ vs Realme 6 Pro: Specs Comparison

Xiaomi launched another mid-ranger in the Indian market. It came under the POCO brand and its name is POCO M2 Pro. It is the first POCO mid-ranger after the POCO X2. The handset comes with very similar specifications to the Indian version of the Redmi Note 9 Pro, but it is not exactly the same device and it has slight differences compared to its older sibling. Are its specifications enough to make it a best-selling device of 2020 or there is something better in the market? In order to establish this, we decided to compare it with two of the best value for money released recently: Motorola One Fusion+ and Realme 6 Pro.

Design

Before talking about the look of these handsets, I think it is worth talking about their materials. While POCO M2 Pro and Realme 6 Pro are equipped with a glass back, the Motorola One Fusion+ has a full plastic design. That is why we would not recommend the Motorola One Fusion+ if we had to choose the most beautiful handset. The Realme 6 Pro has a dual punch-hole instead of a single punch-hole like the POCO M2 Pro, but we recommend it because it has a very attractive design and it is more compact than the POCO M2 Pro. On the other hand, POCO M2 Pro has the P2i certification against water (unlike the Realme 6 Pro).

Display

With the POCO M2 Pro and the Motorola One Fusion+ you get an HDR10 display with great image quality, but still an average IPS panel. With the Realme 6 Pro, you do not get HDR, but it sports a 90 Hz refresh rate. And we believe having 90 Hz on an IPS display of an affordable phone is way more advantageous than having just HDR. I would personally go for the Realme 6 Pro in order to have a smoother viewing experience with my phone.

Specs & Software

If you grab a unit of the POCO M2 Pro or the Realme 6 Pro, you get an octa-core Snapdragon 720G, while if you go for the Motorola One Fusion+, you can get a Snapdragon 730G. Despite the Snapdragon 720G is a newer chipset, the Snapdragon 730G is actually slightly more powerful. However, we still think it is the case to give the award to the Realme 6 Pro because it has a configuration with more RAM than Motorola One Fusion+ (8 GB vs 6 GB), as well as a dedicated micro SD slot. In each case, you get Android 10 out of the box, but Motorola One Fusion+ offers a nearly-stock Android experience, while Realme 6 Pro and POCO M2 Pro are highly customized.

Camera

On the camera side, Realme 6 Pro takes the crown, at least on the paper. The Realme 6 Pro is the only one with a telephoto lens and a 2x optical zoom. The main sensor of its quad camera is the same as the Motorola One Fusion+, but the latter lacks a telephoto sensor: instead of it, it packs a classic depth sensor. Realme 6 Pro also packs a more interesting front camera department composed of an ultrawide dual front camera. Motorola One Fusion+ comes right after the Realme 6 Pro, while POCO M2 Pro is the loser here.

Battery

When it comes to battery life, it is a hard fight between POCO M2 Pro and Motorola One Fusion+. They have the same battery capacity and similar components; it is still too early to give a verdict as the POCO M2 Pro has just been announced and only thorough tests will give us the answer.

Price

POCO M2 Pro has an Rs. 13,999 starting price in India, the Motorola One Fusion+ is priced Rs. 16,999, and Realme 6 Pro costs Rs. 18,999. The winner of this comparison is the Realme 6 Pro with its 90 Hz display and better cameras, but only if you do not care about having the longest battery life. Otherwise, Motorola One Fusion+ looks better.

HMD Global rolls out Android 10 Go Edition to the Nokia 1

When it comes to updates, HMD Global is one of the top manufacturers. Its phones practically get three major OS updates before their end of life; a feat several of its competitors have never attained. Today, it is rolling out an update to the entry-level Nokia 1 that was announced back in 2018.

The Nokia 1 is its first Android Go phone and it is no surprise that it is receiving the Go Edition of Android 10.

The new update brings new features such as Dark Mode, gesture navigation, smart replies, and more. One major feature that has been added specially for Android Go devices is Adiantum Encryption which provides secure encryption for phones with low resources. The update also comes with June 2020’s security patch.

The press release says the update will begin rolling out in Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, The Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam. 10% of the aforementioned countries should get the update today, 50% by July 10, and 100% by July 12. Meizu delivers the promised camera stabilization update to Meizu 17/17 Pro

Last month, Meizu announced on Weibo that it will be adding stabilization option for video recording from all the cameras on Meizu 17 series. Now, as promised, the brand has started rolling out the said update with many more features.

Meizu 17 17 Pro Camera Stabilization Update Flyme v8122A

Meizu is currently seeding out Fyme v8.1.2.2A OTA update to Meizu 17/17 Pro weighing 2.61GB in size. The new system update brings a  number of new features and also fixes various known bugs.

According to Flyme official Weibo account, the latest update for Meizu 17 series brings the following features along with a ton of fixes.

  • Stabilization on all cameras while video recording
  • Fast charging while the display is in use.
  • Easy access to the 129° ultra-wide camera
  • Intelligent network distribution
  • Battery optimizations

Interestingly, the second and third features were already introduced in the Flyme v8.1.1.0A update that was sent out to media review units in May. Looks like they did not make their way to consumer units in the next week.

Anyway, this is the second major update for Meizu 17 series. Unfortunately, it seems to be limited for the Chinese variants and above all, it is not known when the brand will deliver the same to units running Flyme Global version.

OnePlus Nord listed by retailer in Romania, including the specs & price

OnePlus‘ much-anticipated affordable Nord smartphone is expected to be unveiled on July 21 in a virtual launch event. Ahead of the launch, details of the smartphone have continued to make the rounds. The latest that we came across is a store listing for the OnePlus Nord with the specs and price in tow.

The device was listed by Romanian retailer evoMAG.ro and it carries a price tag of RON 2,300 (around €475/$535). The price looks doubtful especially when we take into account the fact that the company has hinted that the price will be under $500. Also, the product image is an inaccurate render with a single central selfie camera. Latest details show that the OnePlus Nord will feature an extended punch-hole design at the top left corner which will be able to take two camera sensors. The rear design isn’t also the correct representation of the Nord which will have a quad-camera setup.

Thus, it is safe to say this is just a listing for clout and can’t be relied upon to know the price of the Nord in Europe.

As a reminder, the OnePlus Nord is expected to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor which will usher in 5G connectivity.  The processor will be paired with 6GB of RAM and there will be 128GB of internal storage onboard. The phone will also pack a 4300mAh battery.

Just recently, popular tipster Ishan Argawal tweeted that the Nord will come with OIS. In addition, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei chipped in that the camera will be of “flagship-level”. According to Android Authority, citing an OnePlus insider, the Nord will feature a quad-camera setup at the rear aspect which will include a 48MP main sensor as against 64MP previously rumoured. Other sensors are an 8MP wide-angle lens, 5MP macro module, and a 2MP portrait lens. At the front, the selfie setup consists of a 32MP and 8MP twin camera layout.

There is hardly any doubt that the OnePlus Nord is an interesting product to watch out for.

OnePlus Nord’ 48MP quad-camera setup revealed

New details of the OnePlus Nord keep surfacing. The latest is the configuration of the rear cameras of the smartphone.

The news comes from Android Central, the same publication that revealed the info about the phone’s front-facing cameras about two weeks ago. Citing an insider at the company as the source, it has been reported that the OnePlus Nord will have a 48MP quad-camera setup on the back.

OnePlus Nord Branding

The 48MP camera is combined with an 8MP ultrawide angle camera, a 5MP macro camera, and a 2MP portrait (depth) camera. This configuration is similar to that of the just-announced Moto G 5G Plus. It will be interesting to see which phone has the better camera.

The source doesn’t mention the specific model of the main camera sensor. But seeing as OnePlus has been raving about the phone having a “flagship-level camera”, we presume it may be the Sony IMX586 present in the OnePlus 8.

Yesterday, it was officially confirmed the OnePlus Nord has optical image stabilization for shake-free photos. We expect it to also have a night mode and pro mode.

The OnePlus Nord will be announced on July 21. It will be powered by a Snapdragon 765G 5G processor, have an AMOLED display with a 90HZ refresh rate, and have support for 30W wired fast charge.

Huawei presently ranks as the number one smartphone maker globally after it beat Samsung to clinch the top spot consecutively in May and June. The popularity of the brand’s mobile phones also means that its custom ROM called EMUI is also popular due to the fact that it runs on millions of devices worldwide. The latest iteration is the EMUI 10.1 which just got released for some models. However, the company have revealed plans for its next major update.

According to Huawei’s Consumer Business Software Department president Dr. Wang Chenglu, EMUI 11 will arrive in the third quarter of this year. He stated this during a special event to mark the eight-year anniversary of the EMUI custom ROM.

Going down memory lane, Huawei first introduced EMUI in 2012 as Emotion UI 1.0 and it was based on Android 4.0. Subsequent years have seen new versions get released based on newer Android versions until the latest EMUI 10 released in August last year. HTC records a surge in revenue in June 2020, thanks to the Desire 20 Pro

Taiwanese mobile phone manufacturer HTC has continued to experience a downward spiral in its market share in the past two years and that has resulted in a reduction in the number of models the tech company churns out each month. However, the month of June 2020 seems to be a good one for the company as it recorded a substantial growth in its revenue occasioned by the Desire 20 Pro released mid-June.HTC Desire 20 Pro

HTC’s revenue jumped by 63.5% last month as it reached NT$649 million. This is said to be NT$250 million more than its revenue in May. This happens to be the company’s highest revenue recorded this year.

The Desire 20 Pro responsible for the surge in revenue was launched on June 16. The phone is a 4G phone equipped with a 6.5-inch punch-hole display. It is powered by a  Snapdragon 665 processor paired with 6GB of RAM and there is 128GB of storage onboard. The phone also packs a quad-camera setup with a 48-megapixel main. The €349 Moto G 5G Plus has a 90Hz display, 48MP quad cameras and a 5000mAh battery

I remember the first-gen Moto G announced in 2013 – a pretty little phone with a single camera, 1GB of RAM, and 3G connectivity. I still miss it and it is one of my favorite Android smartphones. The Moto G line has evolved over the years and today marks another milestone for it as Motorola unveils the first model with support for 5G. Called the Moto G 5G Plus, the phone sticks to the series’ tradition of offering value for money.

Moto G 5G Plus featured

Moto G 5G Plus Design

The Moto G 5G Plus has a double punch hole in its display for two selfie cameras. Unlike other phones we have seen that have a large pill-shaped hole for their dual front-facing cameras, the Moto G 5G Plus has two separate holes. The phone tries to keep the bezels slim but the chin is slightly thicker than the rest.

On the back of the phone is a squircle camera housing that is home to four camera sensors. There is a long LED flash designed like a Xenon flash flanking the setup on the right.

Moto G 5G Plus cameras

The Motorola batwing logo sits in the middle but it doesn’t double as a fingerprint scanner in this case. The Moto G 5G Plus comes with a side-mounted fingerprint scanner that is buried under the power button.

The OnePlus Nord will be announced on July 21 and the event will begin at 7:30 PM IST/4 PM CEST/3 PM BST/10 AM EST/7 AM PST. The launch will be a first of its kind as it will be done in AR. As a reminder, OnePlus was also the first phone company to have a VR launch (OnePlus 2 launch).

Talking about the AR launch, Paul Yu, the head of OnePlus Nord said “OnePlus Nord represents a new beginning for OnePlus, giving us an opportunity to share our technology with more people around the world. For this launch, we want everyone to sit back, relax, and experience our new phone for the first time right in the comfort of their living room,”.

Nord Launch App

For the event, OnePlus has created a special app called Nord Launch. The app is available for both Android and iOS devices and is already live on the Play Store and App Store.

We’ve installed the app here at Gizmochina on the Pixel 2 and OnePlus 7 Pro and it works well on both devices. While OnePlus doesn’t say, we believe it works only on Android devices with ARCore support and  Apple devices with support for ARKit.

The app is pretty neat and straightforward. When you launch it, you are presented with the option to customize your avatar. Once you are done, you can share your avatar or enter into the main part of the app where it scans your space and proceeds to display the content.

MIUI Camera may soon add various modes for long exposure shots

Ever since Xiaomi announced MIUI 12 and started rolling out beta builds, it has been adding new features every other week. Recently, a feature called “AI Shutter” was unearthed in the MIUI Camera app code. Now, developers once again find several other new modes in the same app, which make use of long exposure shots.

MIUI 12 MIUI Camera Long Exposure Shot Modes

The strings for different long exposure shots in MIUI Camera app were spotted by XDA Senior Member kacskrz and Telegram user @Deiki. According to them, users can select different modes for long exposure shots such as “Moving crowd”, “Light painting”, “Starry sky”, “Silky water”, “Star trails”, and “Neon Trails”.

Since long exposure shots require the phone to be kept steady, the strings also mention using a tripod. That said, it is not sure which Xiaomi/Redmi/POCO smartphones will have support for these modes. As of now, they are live on POCO F2 Pro aka Redmi K30 Pro according to a Telegram user called @hardziol who also shared the screenshot attached above to XDA Developers.

The revamped MIUI Camera is the only MIUI 12 system app to get the most number of new features after its reveal. It added support for multiplicity photography known as “Magic Clone” (debuted on Mi 10 Youth Edition), gestures to access additional options, Google’s Top Shot like feature called “AI Shutter” (yet to go live), and the new long exposure shot modes.
