The Redmi Note 8 series has already gotten successors in the form of the Redmi Note 9, Redmi Note 9S, Redmi Note 9 Pro, and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. Soon it should be the turn of the Redmi 8 to get a successor. A little over a week after getting certified by the FCC, the Redmi 9 has also been certified by Thailand’s NBTC.
The Redmi 9 (M2004J19G) is expected to launch soon in various markets, however, a launch date is still unknown. The budget phone will have a rated battery capacity of 4920mAh (typical should be 5000mAh or 5020mAh).
A leak from back in March also revealed the phone will have an Helio G80 processor, four rear cameras in a 13MP + 8MP + 5MP + 2MP configuration along with a fingerprint scanner below the setup.
There is no info on the screen size, resolution, and design but those should surface in the weeks leading up to its launch.
Nokia had announced its first 5G phone, the Nokia 8.3 5G, during an online event in March this year. The company unmasked the device and also announced its features and price. But talking about the availability, Nokia hinted that the device will be available in Europe this summer.
However, a new teaser video released by Nokia on its official Twitter page may be an indication that the model will soon be released. The accompanying post only hinted that the Nokia 8.3 5G will soon be available but no specific date was revealed. However, we expect the company to announce a release schedule in the coming days.
Ready for 5G? The soon available Nokia 8.3 5G allows you to play games without distraction, stream films and share content – all in 5G 👊 pic.twitter.com/mjXeilVxeh
As a reminder, the Nokia 8.3 5G features a mammoth 6.81-inch PureDisplay with an FHD+ resolution, punch-hole and a 20:9 aspect ratio. The phone features a Pixelworks chip that helps it convert SDR to HDR content.
The device is powered by a Snapdragon 765G processor paired with 6GB or 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB or 128GB of expandable storage. For photography, it packs a Quad camera setup at the rear comprising a 64MP primary camera, a 12MP ultrawide angle camera, a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro camera. All four cameras have ZEISS optics. A 24MP camera is housed in the punch-hole in front for selfies.
The Nokia 8.3 5G features support for more 5G bands more than any other phone in the world at present. This will likely be one of its major selling points, especially in Europe. It not only supports 600MHz bands but also mid-bands and 3.8GHz High-bands.
The phone starts at 599 Euros and will be available a single attractive Polar Night colour.

Xiaomi Smart Home Appliances division MIJIA has announced that it will release two new washing machines on May 25. This news comes just a day after MIJIA announced it would release three new refrigerator models same date The gadgets will be called MIJIA Automatic Pulsator Washing Machine 5.5kg and MIJIA Automatic Pulsator Washing Machine 3kg.
From the preview posters, the models will come with a top loader design which makes them the first MIJIA-branded washing machines with a top loader design. The washing machines are portable devices as they come in 5.5kg capacity and 3kg capacity respectively. This is smaller than the 8kg capacity of the Redmi 1A Washing Machine. The smaller 3kg version is said to also feature a high-temperature sterilization function, which seems to be specially designed for baby clothes that require sterilization. The prices of the washing machine are yet to be revealed but we expect them to be priced between 499 yuan (~$70) and 599 yuan (~$84) since the Redmi 1A retails for 799 yuan (~$112).
When the Redmi brand was carved out of Xiaomi as an independent entity, one of the goals is for the brand to have its own product ecosystem that goes beyond smartphones. Already, the brand has launched the Redmi Band, Redmi Washing machine, smart TV and others. Xiaomi is planning to release three new smart TVs under a new X series.
The Redmi Smart TV X series will be launched on May 26 alongside the Redmi 10X. Before the launch, Xiaomi has already unveiled a cool accessory for the smart TVs. It is the Redmi TV Soundbar and comes with an affordable price tag.
The soundbar features two 45 x 80mm runway-type full-range speakers with 30W output capacity. The speaker is also equipped with a duct-type sound cavity. The gadget comes with two connectivity options, wired and wireless. It can be connected via S/PDIF and AUX wired connection as well as via Bluetooth. The soundbar features support for Bluetooth 5.0.
In terms of hardware, the Redmi TV soundbar is 78cm long, 6.4cm wide, 6.3cm high, and weighs 1.5Kg. It has a minimalist design and comes in Matte Black colour. The soundbar comes with an opening at the rear in case the owner wishes to mount it on the wall. It can also be mounted on top of a shelf.
The Redmi TV Soundbar comes with an affordable 199 yuan (~$28) price tag and is presently on sale on Xiaomi Youpin.
The Motorola One Fusion and Motorola One Fusion+ are two phones that first surfaced in a leak back in April courtesy of a leak by Evan Blass. Reported to launch by the end of Q2 2020, more details of the Plus variant have now surfaced.
First reported by XDA-Developers, details of the phone were gotten from a listing on the YouTube Device Report Page. The listing reveals the Motorola One Fusion+ will have a 6.5-inch screen with an FHD+ resolution. It will come with a Snapdragon 730 processor that draws power from a 5000mAh battery and will run Android 10 out of the box.
While the YouTube Device Report Page lists just a few specs, a source has revealed more details to XDA-Developers.
The Motorola Fusion+ will have model numbers XT2067-1 and XT2067-2; the former has already been certified by the FCC and will be available in two color variants called Cloud and Sugarfrost.
The display is actually 6.53-inches with a 2340 x 1080 resolution, there is 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of storage. The main rear camera is a Samsung ISOCELL GW1 64MP sensor. Motorola is expected to launch the device in Asia Pacific, Eastern Europe, India, Latin America, and the Middle East,
The listing also states the device will be released in June, thus confirming the leak from April. However, the specific date remains unknown.
Alleged Motorola One Fusion+
The attached image for the listing looks exactly like that of the Motorola Edge (curved display with a punch-hole and quad rear cameras) while the image for the listing for the Motorola Edge is of a phone with a flat display and 64MP quad-rear cameras. There is probably a mix-up in the images and we can presume the Motorola One Fusion+ is the device in the image used for the Motorola Edge’s listing.
Based on the above, the Fusion+ will have a flat display. There doesn’t seem to be a notch and there also isn’t a punch-hole, so it probably has a pop-up selfie camera. The quad rear cameras are arranged vertically and there is a fingerprint scanner in the middle. The phone also has an audio jack at the bottom.
The Motorola Fusion+ should launch alongside the Motorola Fusion which has been reported to have a 6.52-inch HD+ display, a Snapdragon 710 processor, 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of storage, a 48MP + 5MP + 8MP + 2MP quad rear camera setup, an 8MP selfie camera, and a 5000mAh battery. It too should launch in Latin America and in Asia.

Yesterday, the official Mi Notebook and Lu Weibing Weibo account confirmed the new RedmiBook to come with AMD Ryzen 400 series CPU. Today, the brand officially announced the inclusion of three performance modes similar to the newly launched Honor MagicBook Pro 2020.
The performance modes on the new RedmiBookcan be switched via shortcut Fn + K keys. The laptop will feature three modes namely (translated) ‘Full Speed’, ‘Balanced’, and ‘Quiet’. According to the brand, these modes are targeted for gaming, office work, and normal tasks respectively. The ‘Full Speed’ mode is said to increase the performance by 34.5%.

Huawei’s Mate line has evolved from being limited to just phones to include other products such as computers (MateBook) and tablets (MatePad). Now Huawei is ready to add smartwatches too.
The Chinese tech giant filed a trademark application early this month for the brand name “Huawei Mate Watch”. Huawei’s smartwatch line is currently called Watch GT with models such as the Watch GT 2 and Watch GT 2e. The trademark application may hint at Huawei’s plan to switch to “Mate Watch” in place of the “Watch GT moniker”.

The Huawei Mate Watch will most likely be unveiled this year, probably at the launch of the Mate 40 series. There is still a lot of waiting to do before then and more details should surface soon.
At the beginning of the year, Huawei also filed a trademark application for “MatePod”. There are speculations that it may be the new name for its headphones but it is also possible it may be the new name of its smart speaker series.

Last week, Realme announced it has sold 1,000,000 smart audio IoT devices worldwide. It appears the manufacturer is on the way to selling its next 1 million units and it plans to do that with the launch of two new audio products. One of them is the Realme Buds Air Neo scheduled to launch on May 25 in India, and the second one is the Realme Buds Q, which has now been revealed will launch on the same day as above but in China.
The official Weibo account for Realme has shared a poster that reveals the design of the Realme Buds Q as well as several details including a hint at the price tag.
The Weibo post says the Realme Buds Q was designed by José Lévy, a designer, stylist, and inventor. The design process is said to have taken 180 days with a focus on being lightweight and comfortable.
The earbuds, which weight 3.6 grams each, have a design different from that of the Realme Buds Air. There are no stems sticking out of your ears and the earbuds have a close-fit design. Realme says it has used an advanced matte processor for the finish. The image shows it will come in black with a matching pebble-shaped case but it will be nice if there are other colorways too. The silicone tips have Realme’s signature yellow color and the case has an LED in front to let you know when it is charging.
The Realme Buds Q looks nice but the only gripe we have with it is the Realme logo on each earbud which seems to be saying both earbuds are for the wearer’s right ear. We believe there will be smaller markings on the inside indicating which earbud is for each ear but the Realme logo will be confusing for some first-time users.
Realme also teased the cost of the TWS earbuds by including three different prices and asking folks to guess which one it will be. The prices are ¥199 (~$28), ¥299 (~$42), and ¥399 (~$56). Let us know in the comment box below which one you think will be the price tag of the Realme Buds Q.

The Snapdragon 865 mobile platform powers both phones with up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 512 GB of USB 3.0 storage. According to previous teasers, the Mi smart TV X series will feature 4K panels all models. The display will have a 60Hz refresh rate with 85% NTSC wide color gamut. Further, the TVs in this series will also feature MEMC (Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation) for smoother content playback.

Xiaomi Mi Bands are one of the popular budget fitness trackers in the market. The last iteration in the series, Mi Band 4, brought improvements like larger OLED color display, more fitness functions, XiaoAI voice assistant (only China), and more. As the launch of its successor called Mi Band 5 is nearing, leaks have started emerging on the internet revealing its features.
Xiaomi Mi Band 5 Features Leak
Recently, Huami, the maker of Mi Bands released its financial report for Q1 2020. In that, the company’s CEO confirmed the release of Mi Band 5 later this year. Now, a week later, the upcoming fitness tracker’s features leak courtesy of TizenHelp.
According to the website, just like previous years, there will be two versions of Mi Band 5 – one for China and the other for global markets. But the difference between them will be minute compared to the previous generation.
Internationally, the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 will be called Mi Smart Band 5, a new branding introduced in the last model. The global variant will come with model number XMSH11HM, which goes in line with Mi Smart Band 4’s model number XMSH10HM.
As usual, the international version will lack NFC for contactless payments. But this time around, both the variants will feature Amazon Alexa. The Mi Band 4 comes with XiaoAI voice assistant but it is limited to China.
Further, the Mi Band 5 will also come equipped with a SpO2 sensor to monitor blood oxygen level. Also, it will have features like menstrual cycle tracking and PAI (Personal Activity Intelligence), which is found on Huami’s Amazfit products.
Having said that, the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 was supposed to launch in the first week of June in China. But due to the current situation, the release is said to be postponed to late June or early July. Hence, we can expect the global launch a month or two from that.
Xiaomi product lineup cuts across all categories. In the smart home segment, the company has several surveillance cameras as well as action cams. The brand has recently launched a new PTZ camera which happens to be the cheapest of its model so far. The model is dubbed Mi Smart Camera SE PTZ version and is priced at 149 yuan (~$21).
The new camera is the fourth of such PTZ camera that Xiaomi will be releasing. Prior to this, Xiaomi Smart Camera is available in three PTZ camera models: one with 1080P resolution, a 2K resolution (1296P) version and a Pro version (1296P). The Mi Smart Camera Pro is even available on Giztop presently.
This model doesn’t have the automatic vertical pan/tilt control but you can manual tilt it vertically. However, it supports automatic horizontal rotation. The camera is equipped with a 2-megapixel camera that can shoot 1080P high-definition video. It uses WDR technology, which allows the screen to retain more details even if it is backlit.
It has a 940nm infrared fill light. By optimizing the arrangement and optical structure of the fill light, the brightness of the fill light is more uniform and the night vision permeability is stronger, ensuring no red exposure at night and no visual pollution.
The Mi Smart Camera SE PTZ version uses a new generation of H.265 video encoding technology. The bit rate is 50% lower than before. Users can watch 1080P HD video smoothly even under 1M uplink bandwidth. The camera supports 32GB external storage but you can also use Network-attached storage (NAS) or cloud storage. The historical records stored in the Micro SD card can also be played back at 1x, 4x and 16x speed, making it easy and faster to quickly scan through a video.
In addition, the smart camera comes with humanoid detection features meaning it identifies humans. This ensures the camera doesn’t raise a false alarm due to movement of pets, wind, grass or other objects.
The Mi Smart Camera SE PTZ version is now on sale on Xiaomi Youpin.
Recently, Estonian ride-sharing start-up Bolt unveiled its e-scooter that would be deployed across several cities in Europe. The scooter-sharing service would require some ground personnel who would pick up the scooters between rides for disinfection. Also, there is a charge if the scooter is left outside the designated parking area.
A new scooter sharing service which is now being test run in Atlanta, Georgia will eliminate the need to fine users for parking the scooter anywhere after use. The project is backed by three companies. Go X supplies the scooter and operates the service while the scooters are fitted with remote controls by Tortoise. A third company is Curiosity Labs, a “smart city” incubator located at Peachtree Corners. The firms believe this service is the future of shared mobility.
These are not actually self-driving scooters and won’t ride you anywhere you want autonomously. The remote controls are actually deployed if there is a demand for the scooter. A team of remote employees located in Mexico City will then use the controls to move the scooters around the business park to where the request was made. In addition, the remote can also be used to move the e-scooter to a designated parking area where there are employees who will disinfect the ride.
The device looks bulkier than the regular e-scooters as there are a pair of training wheels which ensures the two-wheelers are stabled while being remotely driven. Also, there are a couple of components attached to the deck and handlebars. But wit such features, it becomes easy to redistribute the scooters across the city instead of waiting until the end of the day before sending out scooter hunters to redistribute them.
The service will roll out this week with about 100 scooters made available to rent. Rentals can be made using the Go X app.
The sales of smartphones tanked in China, the world’s largest smartphone market, thanks to COVID-19 pandemic. But it has begun to improve from the month of March. A new report by CNBC suggests Apple iPhone sales surged high in April than three months before it.
The coronavirus led lockdowns across China affected all the business in the region just like any other country. But since China started recovering in March, the smartphone sales in the country has drastically improved by April.
According to the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology Institute, the country witnessed a total of 40.782 million units of smartphone shipments in April.
Another report by CINNO Research says Apple alone sold 3.9 million iPhones (160% MoM) in April. Out of those, 24% were iPhone SE 2020 although it was only available from later last month. For comparison, the company sold only 1.9 million units of iPhones in March.
Sales of iPhones in China plunged 60% YoY in February. Apple had to shut down its stores abiding the lockdown rules. But all of its stores were soon re-opened by mid-March, which helped in boosting the sales.
Apple is yet to go through a rough path as demand for 5G smartphones is rising in China and the company has none to offer. iPhone sales are expected to grow in the country only after the launch of the rumored 5G iPhones 12 series.
Elephone is coming with several new smartphones in the coming few days. Already, the company is planning to offer different products including wearables, cameras, etc to boost its product lineup. It also aims to improve consumers’ lives by providing them smart products at affordable prices. The upcoming Elephone E10 Pro will feature two new color variants of gradient purple and silver grey along with the already known green color edition.
The Elephone E10 Pro will debut along with feature-rich Elephone PX Pro within the next week. The successor to Elephone E10 will feature a similar design and specification along with slight yet necessary changes. Apart from cool new colors, Elephone E10 will feature a punch-hole display instead of the waterdrop screen which is present on its predecessor. However, the display size will remain the same at 6.5-inches with Full HD resolution sporting 90.3% screen-to-body ratio.
Other details about the device are not yet available but the new smartphone anticipated to feature somewhat similar specifications to Elephone E10.
So, there will be the same quad-rear camera encased inside the square module with 48-megapixel primary camera. It also embeds a 120-degree ultrawide sensor, a depth-sensing camera, and a 4cm macro camera for capturing small objects. A 13-megapixel pixel selfie shooter is present on the front. It will house a 6762D octa-core processor, 4GB RAM, and 64GB internal storage. There will be an NFC chip for contactless payments via Google Pay. A 4000m AH battery comes handy for a full day extensive smartphone use.
However, these specifications are not fully confirmed, but from the looks it appears the smartphone will walk in the footsteps of its predecessor. It’s just a matter of a few days now, as both the Elephone E10 Pro and PX Pro will launch soon and official specs will be out.
You can grab the Elephone E10 as of now at a reduced price of $119 from the Elephone official store. You can stay connected with us to know more about the upcoming Elephone devices.
