Earlier this month, we brought you a report that Nokia was collaborating with Flipkart to launch a Nokia-branded smart TV in India. The TV has now reportedly been certified by the Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS). The screenshot of the certification page shared by tipster Sandhust Amborhe didn’t reveal any significant detail other than that the device will be manufactured in India and will bear the Nokia brand name.
Apart from announcing its partnership with Flipkart to manufacture smart TVs, Nokia is yet to reveal any details of the TV. However, sources familiar with the matter hints that the Nokia-branded TV will come with a 4K ultra-HD panel and will run on Android 9.0 OS. The TV is also expected to come with an Intelligent Dimming technology and JBL sound system.
Nokia will be following the path of the likes of Samsung, LG Electronics, Xiaomi, Motorola, Huawei, Honor, and OnePlus which have all launched smart TVs. Samsung used to hold sway as the biggest TV brand but in recent times, Xiaomi has repeatedly dominated the market with its range of Mi TV models. Nokia is obviously trying to ride on the back of its popularity in the domestic market to sell its smart TV brand. Since the Nokia-branded smart TVs seem to be manufactured in an ODM arrangement, Nokia has nothing to lose but lots to gain if the product goes viral when it is launched.
OPPO will hold a press conference at the Minsheng Modern Art Museum in Beijing on November 20th to release the latest version of ColorOS, that being ColorOS 7. The company’s Weibo account has announced that ColorOS 7 is internally called Killer Whale, which follows the philosophy of how they designed the UI.
ColorOS Design Director Chen Xi also shared some short stories about the development process. He said that when ColorOS 7 was going through the early planning period and they had to choose an internal codename, they decided to go with Killer Whale. Unlike the average whale which is slow and passive, killer whales (which are actually dolphins) are fast, and move swiftly.
According to Chen Xi, the killer whale has four main characteristics, those being lightness, elegance, power and wisdom. These overlap with what the design team wants to achieve with the latest version of ColorOS. To this end, they’ve been working hard to push towards that goal, and have put in plenty of work to provide a user experience that matches with these characteristics in mind.
At the moment, there isn’t much else known about ColorOS 7. We aren’t sure about the features, the design language, the themes or the upgrades made behind the scenes. It is the next big iteration of the UI however, so we should expect some big changes. Thankfully, the team seems to be pretty passionate, so we’re looking forward to what comes out of it.

Earlier this month, Lenovo announced Lenovo One, a feature that connects Lenovo phones to Lenovo computers running Windows seamlessly. With Lenovo One, once you pair your phone to your Lenovo PC via Bluetooth, you are able to operate the phone using your computer.
If you own the Lenovo Z6 Pro and a Lenovo computer, you can give the feature a try by installing the latest beta update for the phone. The beta update was released today and it also brings Android 10 to the device.
The update arrives as ZUI 11.5.120 and brings a new user interface, a number of optimizations, bug fixes, and new features to the flagship phone. Lenovo also includes a list of possible issues you may run into if you decide to install the beta version. We will advise the average user to wait for a stable update which should arrive later.
At the moment, we do not know if Lenovo One will be available to all Lenovo phones or only those that will get the update to Android 10.
The Z6 Pro launched in April 2019. It has a 6.39-inch FHD+ display with a notch at the top for a 32MP camera. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 855 processor and comes with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. There is a 48MP camera on the back of the phone and it is paired with a 16MP ultrawide angle camera, an 8MP telephoto camera, a 2MP dedicated camera with OIS for nighttime videos, and a 3D ToF camera. Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 8 Pro launched a few months ago with the MediaTek Helio G90T chipset and a 6.53-inch display with 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution. It runs on MIUI 10 based Android 9.0 Pie. It features a quad-camera module with compelling software which makes it more useful. Still, several users are looking for Gcam MOD for Redmi Note 8 Pro. The developers took a few months to craft the full working Gcam version for the Redmi Note 8 Pro.
The enhanced picture processing and HDR features on the Gcam make it popular among the users. The ability to optimise the images with uncomparable algorithms is another positive trait of the Google Camera Mods developed by the third-party developers. The Gcam Mod is ported from the Pixel devices that carry Google’s software development prowess to improve the data handling from multiple camera sensors on the device. There’s a massive support for Xiaomi devices in the Gcam development arena.
The latest development is also special because the Gcam stability is attained on a non-Snapdragon device. Unlike the predecessors of Redmi Note 8 Pro, the smartphone ships with MediaTek chipset. The Google Camera module is finally working on a MediaTek chipset with all the advanced features present on the app.
Due to massive sales and positive development support from Xiaomi, the Gcam modders have developed a working Gcam for the device in such a shorter period. All the features including the enhanced HDR, Night Sight and others are correctly working fine on the Redmi Note 8 Pro.
Advantages of Gcam Mod
HDR+ and HDR+ Enhanced with positive-shutter-lag support
Dual Exposure COntrols
Motion Photos
Video Stabilization
Super Res Zoom
Night Sight
Smart burst
Slow-Mo, Panorama, Portrait, Photo Sphere
Advanced Settings
There is a lot of customisation in the Gcam Mods to control the exposure, shutter, gestures, RAW+ JPEG Control, HDR+ Control, Custom Libs, etc.
Open the Gcam App and head over to the “More” tab by swiping to the left side of the display.
Now, tap on the “Settings” icon and press “Save Settings” after typing any name.
Open device’s File manager app copies the downloaded config file to the Gcam>Configs folder.
Now, again open the Gcam application and double-tap the black portion between the shutter and the preview option.
A pop-up will open to choose config. You need to select the downloaded config and press “Restore” option.
You can finally enjoy the Gcam Mod on the Redmi Note 8 Pro. Some features are not working, but we expect fixes in the upcoming builds.

Xiaomi has launched a new Smart garbage bin under the Youpin crowdfunding platform. The garbage bin comes with a price tag of 199 yuan ($28) but after the crowdfunding exercise, it will retail for 299 yuan ($42).
The smart trash can comes with the automatic lid opening feature that we have seen in a couple of smart trash bins lately. Also, it automatically seals the bag when it is filled. The bin comes in the traditional white body which Xiaomi products are known. It has a dimension of 330mmx188mmx370mm and capacity is up to 12L. The narrow design ensures that it can fit into tight spaces like the gap between the toilet seat and the wall. The edge of the top cover of the smart net trash can is equipped with an infrared sensor. The effective sensing range is about 30 degrees upward from the motion detector. It also has a range of about 35cm. When the hand is stretched within the sensing area, the lid of the trash can will open automatically.
If the trash can needs to be kept open for a long time, there is a button to open it and after use, it can be closed with the click of the button again. There is also a button at the top edge of the barrel to automatically package the bag. After the garbage bag is taken out, the smart bin stimulates an automatic negative suction pressure inside the barrel which sucks a new back into the inner wall of the trash can.
Further, the smart garbage bin is equipped with a built-in 2000mAh lithium battery which can last for 150 days on standby. The lid can be opened up to 20,000 times after a full charge. It charges completely in just 3-4 hours.
The LG G8X ThinQ Dual Screen and LG V50 ThinQ Dual Screen ship with a case that has a similar display as the phone itself. When attached, you have a dual-screen phone which offers a whole lot of functions. Now, there is a product called the castAway Case being crowdfunded on Indiegogo which brings a similar function to several more phones.
The castAway Case does provide your phone with an extra screen but it differs from LG’s take in one major way, and that is its ability to function as a standalone device. castAway runs Chrome OS and is powered by the OP1 processor which powers Chrome OS tablets such as the Acer Chromebook Tab 10. There is 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. It also has a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP selfie camera. The built-in 35 Whr battery can also supply power to your phone.
The company behind the castAway case includes top executives from Deel, Microsoft, and Intel. To use the CastAway case, you attach your phone to the device and connect over an encrypted WiFi channel. Then launch an app on both devices called MultiTask+. This app is what allows you to use multiple apps at the same time and copy and paste content between both screens. You can also use one screen as a virtual keyboard and trackpad.
The case comes in two versions – the castAway One with a 5.8-inch screen and the castAway One Plus with a 6.3-inch screen. The castAway case works with the following iPhones – 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus, X, XS, XS Max, XR, 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max. It also works with the following Android phones which are actually only Samsung Galaxy phones – S7, S8, S8+, S9, S9+, S10, S10+, Note 7, Note 8, Note 9, and Note 10. The Indiegogo page says you can send an email if your device is not on the list.
The castAway case will begin shipping in May 2020 if it meets its crowdfunding goal of $50,000. As at the time of writing, it has crossed $30,000. Early backers can pay as low as $129 for the castAway One or $139 for the castAway OnePlus. The original price for the small case is $249 while the bigger one is $269.

Honor is expected to officially unveil the Honor V30 series on November 26 during an event holding in Beijing, China. Ahead of the event, more details continue to emerge about the sleek device which has been shown to get a variant with 5G connectivity. The latest leak is the camera sample shot using the V30. The sample was teased by Honor on its official Weibo page.
The sample is a reflection of the new camera technology that Honor has been developing and which would debut on the Honor V30 series. The shot looks extremely clear and beautiful without any noise.
The Honor V30 is said to feature a quad-camera system on its rear. It may include a 60-megapixel primary lens, a 16-megapixel superwide lens, a 2-megapixel macro lens and a 3D ToF sensor. Apart from packing a high pixel sensor, Huawei’s Honor brand also tweaked the camera algorithm and would share the new tech at play during the launch.
The Honor V30 is also expected to have an OLED display-packing variant with dual selfie snappers, possibly the V30 Pro. There is also a standard model that will be equipped with an LCD display and single punch-hole for its selfie camera. The V30 is said to be powered by the Kirin 990 SoC whereas the Honor V30 Pro could be driven by the Kirin 990 5G chipset. The 5G version will come with support for NSA and SA 5G connectivity in China.
The models are equally rumored to have a 4000mAh battery for the standard V30 whereas the Pro model could be equipped with a larger 4,200mAh battery. Ulefone is very proud of its latest rugged flagship, Armor 7, and their confidence is that it’s the best rugged phone out there. So, in order to demonstrate its rugged features, the company is making a series of videos putting the device through various tests. The previous test was about its drop resistance and this time the Armor 7 goes through tests that prove its waterproofing.
As you can see, the phone survived all the tests it was put through, including water washing, rain splashing, dipping in the sea, scouring by water on the beach, etc. In addition, you can see the diver shooting video underwater.
The Ulefone Armor 7 is equipped with the Helio P90 AI SoC paired with 8GB of RAM plus 128GB of internal storage. The phone is equipped with a 48MP/16MP/8MP triple rear camera and a 16MP selfie shooter. Also, it comes with a 6.3″ FHD+ waterdrop screen while the rest of the main specs include a big 5500mAh big battery with Qi 10W wireless charging, fingerprint and face unlock, global network bands, NFC with Google Pay, and Android 9 Pie.

The Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro runs Android 9 Pie out of the box even though it has been a few months since Android 10 was released. While we have no doubt that it will get updated, there is a possibility the standard Mi CC9 will be getting the update first.
A beta update has begun rolling out to the Mi CC9 in China and it brings Android 10 along. The MIUI 11 beta update which has version number 9.11.12 is 2.3 GB in size.
The changelog doesn’t say much but mentions that there may be app compatibility issues with the new update.
Android 10 brings features such as Smart Reply, privacy controls, new customizations for notifications, and new emojis. The Android 10 update will not bring any UI changes to the phone since it is buried under MIUI 11.
The Mi CC9 launched in July 2019. It has a 6.39-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a waterdrop notch. There is a Snapdragon 710 processor under the hood paired with 6GB or 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of expandable storage. The back of the phone which is covered in Gorilla Glass 5 is home to a 48MP + 8MP + 2MP triple camera setup. There is a 32MP camera up in front and you also get a fingerprint scanner buried under the display. Xiaomi ships the phone with a 4030mAh battery and adds 18W fast charge.
When buying a smartphone nowadays, most people expect it to do everything perfectly. Well, we are not there yet as smartphones are capable of dozens of things but not at top level. One of the biggest complaints of users is the fact that most smartphones have limited performance DAC chips and audiophiles have to resort to other, more expensive, solutions to get the sound they want.
This is the problem that IKKO, a Chinese manufacturer, is trying to solve with its new product, IKKO-ITM05 Music Patch. What the music patch does is connect to your phone’s or computer’s USB or lightning port and convert the digital signal to analog. Also, it has 2 audio out ports, one 3.5mm and one 2.5mm so that you can connect your headphones or other equipment. According to the company, the Music Patch sports two CS43198 DAC chips and has a distortion rating of only 0.0008%.
This isn’t an easy market to compete in as portable DACs and amps market has been growing in recent years, but the ITM05 looks to be the smallest one yet. It weighs only 30 grams (comparable to a AAA battery), and features both USB-C and Lightning support.
The IKKO-ITM05 will go live on Indiegogo next month and it is expected to draw much attention from audiophiles as the way it attaches to the back of the phone makes it easy to carry around. You can check out the early information posted on Indiegogo as well as on their official website.
News emanating from China indicate that Huawei is again planning to postpone the limited sale of the foldable phone. No reason was given for this, neither has the company officially issued a statement to that effect. But then, the release may indeed be postponed as it won’t be the first time te company would do that. The company may be treading cautiously so as not to let the same fate that befell the original Galaxy Fold befall the Mate X.
The Mate X 5G foldable phone was first released at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) earlier this year but has not been released till now. Huawei did hint that problems with the yield were responsible for the delay in the release of the device.
For now, we’ll take this rumour with a pinch of salt since there is no official statement to that effect. We’ll have to wait for the official release on November 15.
Xiaomi Mi Watch draws a lot of design inspiration from the immensely popular Apple Watch Series 5. Both of them equip a 1.78-inch square-shaped display with a ceramic back. Another similar design is the crown on the right. It can be used to navigate through the watch UI.
Down by the crown, a multi-purpose button is provided to fast open a sport mode. On the left, you will find a speaker vent, with which you can play music on the Mi Watch. At the bottom, you’ll see the pins for the charging dock and the heart rate monitor. Compared to Apple Watch, the Mi Watch’s body is a bit thicker.
MIUI For Watch OS (Based on Google Wear OS)
Xiaomi customized a watch version of their MIUI OS for the latest Mi Watch, which is based on Google Wear OS. It allows you to download over 40 customized apps to spread the watch functions, like Sogo Maps, QQ Music, Wechat and so on. But the China version in our hands, those apps are more likely to meet the Chinese users’ demands.
Besides, the Xiaomi voice assistant, Xiao Ai is also available for achieving some basic commands. If you have Xiaomi’s smart-home devices, it would be a great feature to make the watch become a remote control. We will keep watching and bring you the latest news about its international version.
We are working on bringing you a full review video to tell you more about the Mi Watch. Please subscribe to our channel and get it the first time:
Realme will be launching the Realme X2 Pro flagship phone on Nov. 20. The Chinese firm will be announcing the Realme 5s budget-friendly phone alongside it. The Flipkart landing page of the Realme 5s has only revealed that it is equipped with 48-megapixel quad cameras and it has a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. Citing information received from sources close to Realme’s launch plan, BGR India has shared the leaked specifications of the Realme 5s.
Realme 5s Specifications (Rumored)
The report reveals that the Realme 5s will be essentially the same Realme 5 with an enhanced rear camera system. Instead of the 12-megapixel primary lens found on the Realme 5, the Realme 5s will be sporting a 48-megapixel main lens in its quad camera setup. The other three camera sensors of the Realme 5s will be same as Realme 5. It indicates that the Realme 5s will be equipped with 48-megapixel + 8-megapixel + 2-megapixel + 2-megapixel quad camera setup on its back. There is no confirmation on whether the primary lens is Sony IMX586 or Samsung ISOCELL 48-megapixel lens.
The Realme 5s is expected to house a 6.5-inch HD+ display with waterdrop notch. The screen could be shielded by Gorilla Glass 3+ protective layer. The Snapdragon 665 mobile platform could be powering the Realme 5s. The base model of the phone may feature 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of native storage.
For shooting selfies, the Realme 5s may possesses a 13-megapixel selfie camera. It could be backed by a 5,000mAh battery. The ColorOS 6 skinned Android 9 Pie OS may run on the device.
Realme 5
There is no information on the pricing of the Realme 5s. There is a possibility that Realme may either phase out Realme 5 or sell it with a discounted price tag after the arrival of Realme 5s. It is advisable to wait for further reports to know more on its pricing and the fate of Realme 5.
The Honor Vera 30 will be unveiled on November 26 but it won’t be the only new hardware from Huawei’s sub-brand. New info says we will be getting two health fitness-related products alongside the new V30 phones.
First is the Honor Watch Magic 2, a successor to the Honor Watch Magic that launched on October 31, 2018. The Honor smartwatch is actually a cheaper version of the Huawei Watch GT, and according to @Digital Chat Station, the Honor Watch Magic 2 looks just like the Huawei Watch GT 2. The Watch Magic 2 will have a heart rate sensor, GPS, and NFC. It should also sell for less than the Watch GT 2 priced at €229.
Sketches of the Watch Magic 2 have surfaced on the web and they confirm a similar design to Huawei’s latest smartwatch. We expect the new Honor smartwatch will also have a Kirin A1 chip for better performance, battery life, and connectivity.
Honor Smart Scale
Alongside the smartwatch, Digital Chat Station, also revealed we will be getting a new Honor Smart Body Composition Scale which we expect to launch as the Honor Smart Scale 2. Honor already has a smart scale but it is due for a successor. The new scale should have a new design and new features. Like the original, it should be able to measure parameters such as BMI, body fat, bone mass, muscle mass, protein, visceral fat, body water percentage, and of course weight.
The original was available outside China, so we expect the new one will be too.
So far, these are the two items we know will be launching on November 26 though there may be more products.
Apple’s truly wireless earbuds announced late last month are now on sale in India with a price tag of Rs. 24,990 (~$347). The AirPods Pro is the most premium earphones in Apple’s AirPods arsenal, boasting features like super sound quality, Active Noise Cancelation, high dynamic range amplifier along with standard dynamic driver setup.
The AirPods Pro comes with a wireless charging case that can recharge the earbuds on-the-go. Along with the portable charger, Apple claims a total talk time of 18 hours and 24 hours of music playback. The charging case itself can be wirelessly recharged.
Apple AirPods Pro Specifications and Features
The biggest difference in terms of design between the standard Apple AirPods and the AirPods Pro is the silicone ear tip that sits comfortably over the ear canal and offers a better seal. The latter plays a crucial role in Active Noise Cancelation (ANC), a feature that Apple is advertising heavily to justify the Pro’s higher price tag. The software-backed dual-microphone setup adapts continuously, removing background noises to offer an immersive audio experience. Apple claims the ANC adapts audio signals 200 times per second.
The AirPods Pro also features a vent system that removes pressure while wearing the earbuds, minimizing discomfort. Apart from ANC the AirPods Pro also sports Adaptive EQ that automatically tunes low and mid-range audio frequencies according to the shape of an individual’s ear canal. Users can also enable Transparency Mode that disables ANC, in case they want to hear background noises while listening to music. Apple’s new H1 chip is responsible for boosting AirPods Pro’s performance. The Pro gets the same five hours of battery backup as the standard AirPods. With ANC enabled, the battery backup falls to four and a half hours on a single charge. The AirPods Pro is compatible with devices running iOS 13.2 or later, watchOS 6.1 or later, iPadOS 13.2 or later, macOS Catalina 10.15.1 or later and tvOS 13.2 or later.
Apple AirPods Pro Price and Availability
The Apple AirPods Pro is priced at Rs. 24,900 (~$347). This is a bit on the higher side when compared to its $249 price tag in the US that roughly converts to Rs. 17,850. The Apple AirPods Pro is available on Amazon as part of its Apple Days sale scheduled between Nov. 13 and Nov. 17. The earbuds are also available across all authorized online and offline Apple dealerships starting today.
Apple announced the AirPods Pro in the US on October 20, 2019. Meanwhile, the standard AirPods with charging case continue to retail at Rs. 14,900 (~$208) while the AirPods with wireless charging case is priced at Rs. 18,900 (~$264). The standalone wireless charging case retails at Rs. 7,500 (~$105).
The latest budget smartphone from Samsung to have been approved by the FCC is the all-new Galaxy A01. Rumors of the Galaxy A01 first surfaced a couple of months back when a few specifications of the device leaked online from a Geekbench listing. The Galaxy A01 that has a model number model number SM-A015F was first considered as a Qualcomm reference phone (testing device), and not much thought was given to Samsung’s intentions of mass-producing the device. Later it was believed that it may debut as Galaxy A5. However, the FCC certification has revealed that it will be called Galaxy A01.
An image of the Galaxy A01’s prototype can be seen in its FCC documents. The smartphone features a dual-camera setup with an LED flash module aligned vertically on the top left corner. The volume rockers are placed on the right edge of the device while the SIM tray and power button are placed on the left. The 3.5mm audio port is positioned on the top edge. Although the exact dimensions of the device are unknown, it is 67.6mm wide.
The FCC certification has revealed that the Galaxy A01 is fitted with a 5.7-inch display. The processor of the device is not known yet. It has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of native storage. The smartphone is backed by a 3,000mAh battery. The smartphone was recently spotted on Geekbench through which it was revealed that it is loaded with Android 10 OS.
Going by details leaked through FCC filings, the Samsung Galaxy A01 will be an entry-level phone and it will arrive with an affordable price tag. It could be priced lower the Galaxy A10 that is now selling with a starting price of Rs. 7,990 (~$111) in India. The device is expected to be formally announced within the next few months. The smartphone will be initially available in three color options, including black, blue and red. Although more hues could be added later. It remains to be seen whether Samsung sticks to the Galaxy A01 moniker, or rebrands the smartphone before launch.
The Samsung Galaxy A01 is an Original Device Equipment (ODM), meaning it is manufactured by a third-party. The Galaxy A10s is perhaps the best example of an ODM product, which is manufactured by Chinese firm Jiaxing Yongrui Electron Technology. The Galaxy A01 is built by Shanghai-based Huaqin Telecom, which also manufactures devices for Huawei. ODM products allow Samsung to keep its production costs down.
Vivo is reportedly working on the launch of Vivo V17 smartphone. India and Russia are some of the markets that are expected to receive the smartphone. The Vivo V17 has also bagged approval from the NBTC certification body of Thailand. These certifications suggest that the smartphone may go official as early as this month.
The Vivo V17 NBTC certification has not revealed any information on its specifications. However, it has confirmed that the Thailand variant of the smartphone has Vivo 1919 model number.
Recently, a Russian tech blog had shared the live shots of the Vivo V17 smartphone. The images had revealed that the phone is equipped with a diamond-shaped camera module on its rear. However, the arrangement of the quad rear cameras is different from the Vivo S5 phone that is debuting tomorrow.
