Nubia Z80 Ultra spec leak: Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, 7,100mAh+ battery, and improved UDC

Nubia may be gearing up for the release of its next Ultra phone, the Z80 Ultra. A new leak suggests the device will pack cutting-edge hardware, including a next-generation Qualcomm chip, an improved under-display selfie camera, and a battery that could outlast most flagships on the market. The phone is expected to launch towards the end of this year.

According to reliable tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the Z80 Ultra—expected to succeed last year’s Z70 Ultra—will pack an improved under-display front camera. This feature allows for a full-screen experience without punch holes or notches, maintaining a clean 1.5K display.

Under the hood, the Z80 Ultra could be one of the first phones to feature Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 processor, which is set to be announced in September 2025. Early benchmark leaks suggest a notable jump in performance, with the chip reportedly hitting 3.8 million points on AnTuTu—over 50% higher than the Z70 Ultra’s score of around 2.5 million.

The rear camera setup reportedly includes at least two 50MP sensors—a main camera and a periscope telephoto. However, the tipster didn’t share any specifics about the sensors or lenses.

Moving on, the Z80 Ultra is said to pack a significantly larger battery—over 7,100mAh compared to 6,150mAh in its predecessor. It’s reportedly a single-cell silicon-carbon unit, which, if accurate, could deliver multi-day battery life even with heavy use—an appealing upgrade for gamers and power users alike.

While RAM and storage details haven’t leaked yet, the Z80 Ultra is expected to carry over key design elements from its predecessor, such as an IP68/IP69-rated build and a high-refresh-rate 144Hz AMOLED display.

Nubia hasn’t officially confirmed any of these details yet, but if the brand follows its usual schedule, the Z80 Ultra could launch in November 2025. With a combination of cutting-edge specs and unique design features like an invisible selfie camera, the Z80 Ultra might be one of the most distinctive flagships to close out the year.

Why I Never Got Used to Wireless Charging in Phones

Wireless charging has been around for more than a decade now, yet I still find myself reaching for a cable every single time I have to charge my phone.

It’s not that I don’t understand the appeal. The convenience it offers is real. Just place your phone on a pad and let it charge. No plugging, no wear and tear on your charging port, and no need to find the right orientation in the dark. But even after all these years, wireless charging still feels more inconvenient than it’s worth.

Why I hate wireless charging on phones

It’s just… frustrating. In small but constant ways. And that’s why, even with wireless charging support baked into almost every flagship phone I’ve used so far, I never really got used to it.

1. It’s not wireless, is it?

I don’t think it’s a hidden fact, but wireless charging still needs wires. Not for your phone, sure, but for the charger. You still have to find an outlet, plug in a pad or a stand, and place it exactly right. 

So instead of skipping the wire completely, you just move it a level down, from the phone to the furniture. This sounds convenient until you realize that the charger is now part of your table setup. You can’t walk away with it. You can’t lend it to a friend. And once you’ve placed your phone on it, you kind of have to leave it there.

Wireless charging, in its current form, is more like “contact charging.” And while that’s technically true, the branding still feels a little too optimistic.

2. The alignment game

If you’ve used a flat wireless charging pad, you already know the drill. Your phone has to sit in the exact right spot to actually charge. You miss by a centimeter, and it stops charging. 

I picked up a mousepad with a built-in wireless charger, thinking it would keep my phone juiced up while I worked at my PC. But even at my slightest (unknowing) nudge knocks it off alignment, and suddenly, it’s not charging anymore.  

It’s especially frustrating when I’m relying on it with a low battery, only to realize later that the phone’s been sitting there, doing absolutely nothing.

3. You can’t really use the phone while it’s charging

This might be my biggest deal-breaker.

With a wired charger, I can still hold the phone, doomscroll Instagram, respond to messages, or check the weather. The cable might get in the way sometimes, but it’s manageable.

However, that’s in no way possible with wireless charging. That would be fine if I were the kind of person who put my phone down and left it alone. But I’m not. I use my phone constantly. I don’t want to wait until it finishes charging to use it, and I certainly don’t want to keep picking it up and placing it back like I’m playing a game of hot potato.

Yes, some wireless stands allow for better ergonomics, but they still limit the angles and the convenience. If I’m trying to use my phone while watching something or following a recipe, I want flexibility. Not constraints.

4. It isn’t built for a tropical climate

If you live somewhere hot and humid, like much of South Asia, South America, or parts of Africa, wireless charging starts to feel like a bad idea.

These chargers already generate heat under normal use. However, in places where the ambient temperature is regularly above 30°C (86°F), the heat builds up even more quickly.

Phones tend to throttle charging speeds when they get too hot. Some even stop charging completely. I’ve seen phones on wireless chargers become too hot to touch, especially during the day when the room is already warm. In some cases, the phone doesn’t just charge slower, it warns you to cool it down before continuing.

That’s not to say wired charging doesn’t heat up the phone. However, refueling is more efficient this way, and you can unplug the phone as soon as it’s full. It makes more sense in hot places where managing temperature is part of daily life.

5. It doesn’t travel well

Wireless chargers are also not portable. Yes, technically, you can carry them. But do you want to?

They’re often bulkier than a standard cable, harder to pack, and require their own power bricks. And if you’re staying somewhere that doesn’t have a flat surface near an outlet, or any outlet at all, you’re out of luck.

Meanwhile, a single USB-C cable and a compact adapter can do everything: charge your phone, your tablet, your earbuds, even your laptop.

Wireless charging doesn’t replace that versatility. It just adds another layer of stuff to carry.

6. The ecosystem tax

Wireless charging accessories are usually more expensive than their wired counterparts. A basic fast charger costs $15–20. But a decent wireless pad will set you back somewhere between $40–60. 

And let’s not forget the constant compatibility issues. Apple’s MagSafe doesn’t always play nice with Qi chargers. Samsung’s fast wireless chargers won’t deliver top speed to other brands. And budget phones often have the hardware but not the firmware to unlock the full speeds.

7. It doesn’t solve a real problem

When I think about why I never adopted wireless charging, it really comes down to this: it doesn’t fix anything that was broken.

Plugging in a phone was never a major issue. USB-C is a reversible, fast, and reliable solution that doesn’t demand extra care. 

Wireless charging doesn’t make it dramatically better. It makes it different. More futuristic-looking, sure. But in everyday life, I feel it’s more restrictive, at least for me.

I don’t mind seeing wireless charging grow and evolve. I think it’s great that the tech is moving forward. But it’s telling that after all these years, it’s still not the default way most people charge their phones, because it’s not better. Just newer.

Google Pixel 9a hits record low price

That’s the lowest price we’ve seen to date, undercutting last month’s $424 deal. The 256GB version is also discounted, now selling for $499, down from $599. You’ll only have your pick of two colors — Obsidian and Porcelain — and given the popularity of this discount, stock may not last long.

At this price point, the Pixel 9a punches well above its weight. It’s powered by Google’s Tensor G4 chip — the same one found in the flagship Pixel 9 and 9 Pro — and backed by 8GB of RAM. While it’s not built for intense gaming or sustained heavy tasks, performance is snappy and smooth for everyday use.

The dual-camera setup delivers great results in daylight and decent low-light shots — something many mid-range phones still struggle with. As Android Authority notes, image quality comes impressively close to Google’s flagship models.

The phone also includes a 5,100mAh battery, larger than even the Pixel 9 Pro XL’s, offering excellent battery life with support for 23W wired charging. Other highlights include a compact 6.3″ size and IP68 dust and water resistance.

And then there’s the long-term value: Google is promising seven years of Android updates, starting with Android 15. Add in Gemini’s capabilities, and you’ve got a phone that’s built to last well into the next decade. Just be quick — this one probably won’t stay in stock for long.

Xiaomi just launched a split air conditioner that purifies air, cools fast & kills viruses

Xiaomi has officially launched the Mijia Health Wind 1.5HP Air Conditioner in China, priced at 2999 yuan ($418). The new wall-mounted split-type inverter model combines fast cooling and heating performance with advanced air purification and smart home integration.

The air conditioner features a minimal white design and supports both cooling and heating modes. It is powered by a high-efficiency compressor and Xiaomi’s custom outdoor unit, which enables quick climate control, delivering cooling in 30 seconds and heating in 60 seconds. The unit supports a wide operating temperature range from -32°C to 60°C, making it suitable for various environments across seasons.

Xiaomi has equipped the Mijia Health Wind with a 108mm cross-flow fan that generates an airflow of up to 780m³/h. The system can adjust the room temperature within three minutes. Indoor noise levels are as low as 18dB(A), while the outdoor unit reaches a maximum of 51dB(A) under full load.

The air conditioner features Xiaomi’s advanced multi-effect ion purification technology, which targets a wide range of airborne contaminants. It removes up to 99.99% of H1N1 virus particles and white staphylococcus, along with 99% of formaldehyde, black mold, and pollen allergens.

The air quality can further be improved by adding optional filtration modules, including MIFD filters, formaldehyde-decomposing filters, and a mosquito-repelling filter that uses non-toxic methoxyfenozide compounds. The purification system relies on a triple-layer setup consisting of ion generators, primary dust filters, and electrostatic filters that capture fine particulate matter.

The Mijia Health Wind AC offers smart control via Xiaomi’s HyperOS Connect platform and the Mi Home app. It allows users to monitor air quality, set personalized comfort modes, and automate functions. The unit also includes an LED display that shows pollution levels using color-coded indicators.

The model holds China’s new Grade 1 energy efficiency certification with an APF (Annual Performance Factor) of 5.32. Xiaomi claims it can save up to 207kWh of electricity per year compared to third-grade models.

The indoor unit measures 860 x 311 x 208mm and weighs 10.5kg, while the outdoor unit measures 860 x 551 x 331mm and weighs 24.5kg. The product carries a six-year warranty and includes features such as intelligent defrosting, self-cleaning for both indoor and outdoor units, and a child-safe antibacterial filter.

Samsung Display launches ‘MONT FLEX’ foldable brand ahead of K-Display 2025

Samsung Display has launched a new foldable display brand called MONT FLEX, ahead of the K-Display 2025 exhibition in Seoul. The brand aims to strengthen Samsung’s leadership in foldable OLED technology and signal its continued focus on premium innovation.

The name “MONT FLEX” is inspired by the French word mont, meaning “mountain”, which Samsung says reflects its goal of reaching the peak of foldable display development. The brand name also functions as an acronym that highlights four key strengths of its foldable OLED technology. “M” stands for mechanical durability, “O” for opto-mechanically flat design, “N” for narrow bezels, and “T” for thin and lightweight construction.

Samsung Display has been mass-producing foldable OLED panels since 2019. Over the years, the company has introduced several technical advancements, including Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) and LEAD, a polarizer-free optical film. The latest foldable panel is slimmer and lighter than previous versions and is rated to withstand 500,000 folds.

With MONT FLEX, Samsung Display plans to better communicate the distinct value of its foldable OLED panels to both consumers and partners. The company sees foldables as a core area for future growth and product differentiation.

“We have continued to drive technological innovation to perfect the product,” said Jae-Nam Yun, Executive Vice President and Head of the Mobile Display Marketing Team at Samsung Display. “Following the launch of a foldable panel with a shock-resistant structure that passed the 500,000-fold durability test, we will continue to push the boundaries of what foldables can offer.”

MONT FLEX will be officially introduced during the K-Display 2025 event, held from August 7 to 9 at COEX Hall A in Seoul. While Samsung has not confirmed which future products will use MONT FLEX panels, the technology is likely to appear in upcoming foldable devices, possibly including the Galaxy Z Fold 8, expected in 2026.

QCY launches Crossky C50 open-ear AI earbuds with 35h battery, real-time translation & Bluetooth 6.0

QCY has officially launched the Crossky C50, its latest open-ear AI earbuds, in the Chinese market. The earbuds are priced at 229 yuan ($32) and come in five color options: Monet Purple, Ballet Pink, Ice Sea Blue, Milkshake White, and College Grey. In the global market, it is priced at $34.99 and is available on QCY’s official website.

The QCY Crossky C50 uses a 13.5mm small-diameter spherical design, which the company claims is better suited for most users, especially those with ear canals larger than 14mm.

The earbuds feature an open-ear clip-on form factor and include a soft cloud cushion, a 168° rear chamber, and a three-point support system with memory titanium wire. QCY says the structure reduces wearing pressure by up to 56% while maintaining a secure fit.

The audio system features a carbon fiber dual-magnet driver that boosts bass response by up to 100% and delivers a maximum sound pressure level of 93dB. To counteract bass loss typical in open-ear designs, QCY integrates NetEase Cloud Music’s certified bass enhancement algorithm (v3.0). The system also uses directional sound projection to reduce audio leakage and includes an AI-driven volume adjustment that adapts to surrounding noise levels.

QCY has integrated spatial audio with support for IMAX-style 360° surround sound. The Crossky C50 also supports AI-powered real-time translation in over 30 languages. The translation features include voice and text translation as well as live transcription. QCY claims a transcription accuracy of up to 92%, and users can access recording functions directly through the earbuds.

Each earbud includes a 35mAh battery, and the charging case adds another 380mAh. QCY claims a battery life of 7.5 hours on a single charge and up to 35 hours with the case. It also offers fast charging, and a 10-minute charge provides up to 2 hours of playback.

The earbuds use Bluetooth 6.0 and support dual-device connectivity. The device is IPX5-rated for water resistance and is compatible with both Android and iOS platforms.

As per an SCMP report, 14 employees of Huawei are facing a prison sentence after being found guilty by a court in Shanghai. The former workers have been accused of stealing trade secrets related to Huawei’s semiconductor technology. In the official ruling by the Shanghai Third Intermediate People’s Court, the 14 individuals were found guilty of stealing the intellectual property of Huawei’s HiSicilon division.

For context, these former employees left Huawei to start their own company, Zunpair Communication Technology, reportedly using the stolen chip designs. As of right now, the court has delivered prison sentences of up to 6 years along with financial penalties as well. The full ruling has yet to be made public, so it is unclear whether the accused plan to appeal this decision. Huawei has also yet to comment on this matter.

One researcher at HiSilicon, Zhang Kun, left the company in 2019 and launched his start up in early 2021. Zunpai Communication Technology was a brand that developed WiFi communication chips. Later on, Zhang recruited a number of his former colleagues to join his company. This led to Huawei’s HiSilicon making a legal filing to petition the Shanghai Intellectual Property Court to freeze Zunpai’s assets that are worth 95 million yuan.

Samsung was rumored to be working on a new pair of budget truly wireless earbuds. Now, the Galaxy Buds 3 FE may have had its existence confirmed via fresh certification sighting, revealing an area where it could beat out the brand’s flagship Galaxy Buds 3 Pro.

Just yesterday, the Galaxy Buds 3 FE was spotted in India’s BIS certification platform. This Fan Edition TWS surfaced with the EP-QR420 model number. Samsung’s upcoming budget hearables have now surfaced on the SGS Fimko, carrying the same model number (Via PhoneArena). It even got certified by the FCC with the EP-R420 model number. So the global release of the Galaxy Buds 3 FE is confirmed, with the SGS Fimko database even revealing some details regarding its battery capacity.

The listing shows the Galaxy Buds 3 FE with a sizeable 200mAh battery on the earbuds, while the charging case has a large 900mAh cell. So each earbud could pack around a 100mAh battery. This marks a notable upgrade over its predecessor (the Galaxy Buds FE), which housed a 60mAh cell on each earbud and a 479mAh battery on the charging case. The original Buds FE offered 8.5 hours of playback and up to 30 hours of extra battery life with the charging case (ANC off).

So the newer Galaxy Buds FE iteration might offer double the battery life. It could easily last for over 12 hours with ANC off on a single full charge, with its case also offering over 40 hours of endurance. Even the flagship Galaxy Buds 3 Pro offered only 5 hours of audio playback, which could be boosted to 22 hours with the charging case. Meaning, the upcoming budget TWS might be Samsung’s best TWS earbuds in terms of total battery life.

Cerence sues Sony and TCL over voice tech in smart TVs, seeks import ban

Cerence Inc. has filed formal complaints against Sony Group Corporation and TCL Technology Group Corporation, alleging that the companies infringed on its patented voice technology. The complaints were submitted to the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas.

According to Cerence, select smart TV models from Sony and TCL incorporate voice interaction features that rely on its proprietary technology without authorization. The company is seeking a limited exclusion order from the ITC that would block the import of these products into the U.S. It is also pursuing monetary damages through its district court filings.

Court documents specifically name TCL models like the TCL50 QM5K and TCL55 F35 as examples of the allegedly infringing products. However, the complete list of affected Sony and TCL models has not been disclosed.

Jennifer Salinas, Chief Administrative Officer and General Counsel at Cerence, said the company views intellectual property enforcement as a strategic priority. “We will take strong, decisive action to protect our IP rights and prevent the unauthorized use of our technology,” she said.

Cerence emphasized that its patented voice solutions are the result of sustained innovation and years of development. The company said it aims to protect not only its technologies but also its customer base and long-term investments.

Cerence has built a strong presence in the automotive sector, with its voice and AI platforms integrated into over 525 million vehicles worldwide. The company said that voice technology has growing relevance in consumer electronics, including smart TVs and home entertainment systems.

As of now, neither Sony nor TCL has issued a public statement in response to the allegations. It is common for companies to withhold comments during ongoing litigation.

It’s nearly iPhone season again. And if history (and leaks) are any guide, Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 lineup on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. That’s right in line with the company’s usual launch schedule.

While the full iPhone 17 family will likely include four devices: the standard iPhone 17, the slimmer iPhone 17 Air, the high-end iPhone 17 Pro, and the massive iPhone 17 Pro Max, we’re focusing on just the base iPhone 17 here. And this year, it might actually feel like a proper upgrade.

1. A refreshed design, but still familiar

Apple is expected to make subtle yet noticeable changes to this year’s iPhone 17 design. The body will still be made of aluminum with a glass back, but the company is expected to improve the overall hands-on feel of the phone.

Size-wise, the iPhone 17 could be slightly taller and wider. That’s thanks to a 6.3-inch display, up from 6.1 inches on the iPhone 16, and slimmer bezels.

The iPhone 17 models are also expected to feature a redesigned Dynamic Island, although the change seems to be more software-based than hardware-related.

And speaking of appearance, Apple seems to be leaning into color again. The base iPhone 17 is expected to come in ultramarine blue, turquoise, pink, black, white, and possibly deep purple. It’s also rumored to include a dedicated camera control button.

2. 120Hz in base iPhones, finally!

Yes, you read that right — the base iPhone 17 may finally get a 120Hz display with ProMotion support. It’s been a long time coming, and Apple appears ready to introduce smoother scrolling and animations to all iPhone buyers, not just those spending $1,000 or more.

Apple will reportedly use LTPO technology, which enables a dynamic refresh rate. That means the screen can scale down to preserve battery life during static use or ramp up when needed for smoother visuals.

This also means we will get support for Always-On Display on the base iPhone. It’s strange, but AOD is a Pro-exclusive feature for iPhones to date. It will allow the screen to dim and show essential info like time, calendar events, and notifications even when the phone is locked.

3. Under the hood

The iPhone 17 is expected to debut with Apple’s new A19 chip. Unlike expected, it won’t be a 2nm SoC; rather, Apple is rumored to use an upgraded 3nm fabrication (3NP) process, which will bring increased performance efficiency. It’ll also be tuned for Apple Intelligence, Apple’s generative AI framework.

You can expect the A19 to feature:

  • A 6-core CPU (2 high-performance + 4 efficiency cores)
  • A 5-core GPU with hardware ray tracing
  • A 16-core Neural Engine optimized for AI tasks

The base iPhone 17 will ship with 8GB of RAM, though there are also leaks about a 12GB version. Storage options will likely stay at 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB.

To keep all this cool, Apple is reportedly adding graphite plates and vapor chamber cooling. On the software front, the phone will launch with iOS 26.

4. A big change for the front camera

One of the more surprising upgrades will be on the front camera. The base iPhone 17 is rumored to jump to 24 megapixels, doubling the resolution of previous models. It’ll also use six-lens optics, which should help with clarity in both well-lit and low-light conditions.

This should be especially noticeable during FaceTime calls, selfies, and facial recognition tasks. It may even support variable aperture for better depth-of-field effects.

5. Battery, charging, and build changes

Battery life has long been a priority for Apple, and the iPhone 17 may make it easier to service, too. Apple is expected to use a new electrically-activated adhesive to secure the battery, which might make the replacement easier. 

The iPhone 17 models are expected to support up to 35W wired charging speeds. On the wireless side, Apple could add support for up to 25W charging when using third-party chargers that comply with the new Qi 2.2 standard.

6. Price and availability

Apple is expected to keep the $799 starting price for the iPhone 17 with 128GB of storage. Pre-orders should go live within days of the announcement, and global availability will follow within two weeks.

The above screenshot reveals that the upcoming Vivo V2506A phone may support 90W fast charging. The same device was found to be equipped with an 8010mAh battery through its CMIIT listing.

While this device was previously thought to be the iQOO Z10 (China variant), a new leak suggests that it could be called the Vivo Y400 Pro+. This moniker indicates that it will be a successor to the Vivo Y300 Pro+, which debuted in April in China.

The Vivo Y300 Pro+ features a 6.77-inch AMOLED FHD+ screen that supports a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The device is equipped with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 chipset, up to 12GB of LPDDR4x RAM, and up to 512GB of UFS 2.2 storage. It came preinstalled with OriginOS 5-based Android 15.

The Y300 Pro+ has a 32-megapixel front camera and an OIS-assisted 50-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual-camera setup. The device is equipped with a 7,300mAh battery with 80W charging support.

A rebranded version of this phone is available with the iQOO Z10 moniker in markets outside of China. Therefore, there is a possibility that the Y400 Pro+ may get rebranded as an iQOO phone in the coming days.

Infinix GT 30 camera, battery, and OS update policy confirmed before launch

Infinix is preparing to launch the GT 30 in India on August 8. Its Flipkart landing page, which has been live for several days highlighting key specifications, has now been updated with additional details like cameras, battery size, and more about the gaming-focused phone.

The updated microsite confirms that the Infinix GT 30 is equipped with a 5,500mAh battery with bypass charging. For photography, it features a 64-megapixel Sony IMX682 + 8-megapixel (ultra-wide) dual camera setup, and a 13-megapixel selfie camera.

It also adds features like an x-axis linear motor, a 6-axis gyroscope, dual speakers, an IP64 rating, and a walkie-talkie feature that allows calls via Bluetooth when there is no network. Infinix has further promised two major OS updates and three years of security updates for the device.

Previously confirmed details include a 6.8-inch 144Hz AMOLED panel with 1.5K resolution, 10-bit colour depth, and 4,500 nits peak brightness, protected by Gorilla Glass 7i. For security, it will feature an in-screen fingerprint sensor.

The GT 30 is powered by the Dimensity 7400 chipset, paired with 8GB of LPDDR5x RAM, 8GB of virtual RAM, and up to 256GB of internal storage. It supports 90fps gameplay in BGMI, certified by Krafton, and features customizable trigger buttons for gaming.

Other gaming-focused additions include AI Magic Voice Changer, ZoneTouch Master, Esports Mode, and Performance Modes. Running on XOS 15 based on Android 15, the device also integrates AI Call Assistant, AI Writing Assistant, and the Folax voice assistant.

Oppo has confirmed that the K13 Turbo series will launch in India on August 11. The lineup, which includes the K13 Turbo and K13 Turbo Pro, marks the company’s first gaming-focused smartphones.

The K13 Turbo Pro is powered by Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, while the K13 Turbo uses the MediaTek Dimensity 8450. Both models come with up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, up to 1TB storage, and a 6.8-inch flat OLED display with 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. They run Android 15 with ColorOS 15 and are IPX8 and IPX9 rated. The series features a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel depth sensor, and a 16-megapixel front camera. A 7000mAh battery supports 80W fast charging.

For heat dissipation, the K13 Turbo series is integrated with Oppo’s Storm Engine, a built-in variable-speed fan that spins up to 18,000 rpm, a 7000mm² vapour chamber, and a duct system to maintain temperatures 2–4°C lower during intensive tasks. As per Oppo’s Zhou Yibao, this rumor is fake.

Unfortunately, the senior official refrained from elaborating any further and didn’t reveal any other details. Digital Chat Stations adds that the smartphone will be equipped with Qualcomm’s SM8850 SoC, which is expected to be the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset. Looking at the benchmark, Samsung’s new Desktop Tower carries the DM500TGZ-AD9A model number. But what made it noteworthy was its specs and performance results. Thanks to its Intel Core Ultra 9 285 CPU, Samsung’s PC managed to score 2702 points in the single core test and 12373 points in the multi core test. In the OpenCL graphics test, the integrated Intel Arc iGPU achieved 16426 points.

Oddly enough, the high end processor is only paired with 8GB of DDR5 RAM. If you look at the online retailer’s listing, there are only 8GB or 16GB options. For storage, there are plenty of options, including 256GB, 500GB, 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB. Out of the box, the Samsung Desktop Tower runs on the Windows 11 Home OS. If you look past the memory capacity, one could assume this is a new workstation PC from Samsung.

The new Samsung Desktop Tower was spotted with a starting price tag of around 1,637,000 KRW, which is roughly around 1,180 US Dollars. It is unclear whether the brand will announce this computer in the global market, so stick around for more.

Samsung’s Galaxy A-series has long been popular with buyers looking for reliable performance at an affordable price. But with the upcoming Galaxy A17 5G, that budget-friendly image might be shifting. A recent leak hints at a notable price hike, raising questions about whether the phone’s upgrades are enough to justify the cost.

According to a listing from Italian retailer Epto, the Galaxy A17 5G is expected to launch in Europe starting at €299.90 for the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage model. That’s nearly €71 more than the base model of last year’s Galaxy A16 5G, which launched at €229. The official retail price is reportedly €319.90, though it’s possible Samsung will offer launch discounts. Even the 4G version of the A17 is listed at €289.90 for the same storage and RAM—an unusual pricing move for a non-5G model.

To be fair, Samsung is offering more storage out of the box—256GB compared to 128GB on the A16 5G. The A17 5G is also said to include a more premium build with Gorilla Glass Victus and a main camera with OIS, which should help deliver sharper photos and steadier videos.

That said, much of the rest remains the same. The phone still uses the Exynos 1330 chip, has a 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging, and retains an IP54 rating. The front display features the same dated waterdrop notch, which may feel underwhelming compared to newer designs from rivals.

With its higher price and modest upgrades, the Galaxy A17 5G could be a tougher sell—especially if the more affordable predecessor remains on shelves. Existing A16 users may also find little reason to upgrade. The A17 5G is rumored to launch in October 2025, but unless Samsung sweetens the deal with offers or further enhancements, its higher price might be a sticking point for the value-driven A-series crowd.
