The Realme X2 Pro is set for launch on the 15th of October in China and Madrid, but the Realme have done a good job of keeping silent about the device’s specifications. Now however, the handset has passed TENAA with the model number RMX1931, spilling all the beans as to its specifications. So, what’s waiting for us other than that Snapdragon 855+ chipset?
According to the TENAA listing, the Realme X2 Pro will feature a 6.5-inch AMOLED display. We’ve got a quad-camera setup at the rear consisting of 64MP+13MP+8MP+2MP sensors, and the setup supports 3x optical zoom. We’ve got a 16MP selfie shooter up front, and the device will come in a 6GB+64GB option. The device weighs 199g and the dimensions include 161 × 75.7 × 8.7mm.
According to what we know, the new device will be a feature-packed smartphone as it not only runs on a flagship processor, but it also packs a 90Hz display like the OnePlus 7T. Additionally, it will also be the first Realme phone to come with 50W Super VOOC fast charging technology that can allegedly fully charge a smartphone in just 35 minutes. The TENAA listing surprisingly lists the battery as a 1950mAh unit, which seems rather unlikely.
Simultaneously to the TENAA listing, the Realme X2 Pro was also spotted on NBTC, Thailand confirming that the RMX1931 model number pertains to the Realme X2 Pro. The Realme X2 Pro was also spotted on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) suggesting that the device will also launch soon in India as well.
Realme X2 Pro renders appear showing off new colour scheme
At the same time, Realme’s Marketing Officer Xu Qi Chase has gone to Weibo showing off a new render of the Realme X2 Pro. The render features a deep blue colour which Xu Qi refers to as “Poseidon”. It was allegedly inspired by the deep sea floor, and it’ll be another one of those designs that changes subtly when it’s reflecting the sun.
In terms of design, the X2 Pro toes the line of the Reno Ace which is its closest cousin both in terms of looks and features. Thankfully, the handset doesn’t skip on the headphone jack (which is frankly incredible) and also has NFC and UFS 3.0 storage. Overall, it’s really looking like an extremely impressive package from start to finish. The offset Realme logo is off putting, but other than that it’s a fairly good looking device.
If you’re really looking forward to seeing the device, you won’t have to wait long. The October 15th launch event will be hosted in Madrid, Spain, and it will start at 10 AM local time. The company previously said that X2 Pro will be presented in Asia and Europe simultaneously, and we already know the device is launching in China on the same day.
At a launch event in China on 24th September, along with the Mi 9 Pro 5G and Mi MIX Alpha smartphones, Xiaomi also launched a few other products, including the Mi Power Bank 3 which comes with 50W Super Flash fast charging support.
Now today, the company has officially started selling the Mi Power Bank 3 50W Super Flash in China for a price of 299 Yuan which roughly converts to $42.
As the name itself implies, this new power bank is similar in several aspects to the Mi Power bank 3 and the only major difference is that it comes with support for 50W fast charging technology.
The power bank packs a 20,000mAh capacity battery and has a bulkier build with a dimension of 153.5 × 73.5 × 27.5 mm. The company said that it is compatible with most digital equipment and can charge three devices at the same time.
It features two USB-A ports and a USB-C port and there’s also a separate USB-C port for refuelling the power bank. Thanks to the USB Type-C port, the power bank isn’t limited to charging smartphone but can also charge MacBooks and Switch among other products.
Thanks to the support for 50W fast charging, it can fully charge the company’s flagship smartphone like Mi 9 Pro in just 48 minutes, thanks to 40W fast charging capability in the device. Xiaomi confirmed that the Redmi Note 8 Pro can be fully charged 2.8 times while the Redmi K20 Pro can be fully charged 3.5 times.
As said, the Mi Power Bank 3 50W Fast Charge version is now available for purchase in China carrying a price tag of 299 Yuan, which roughly converts to $42. Currently, there’s no information available about the device’s availability in other markets.
South Korean giant Samsung Electronics’ operating revenue has tumbled by 56 percent in the third quarter of this year. The main reason behind the drop is the memory chip business of the company which is currently suffering from low demand.
However, on the positive note, the demand for memory chips has shown sign of improvements in the current quarter. We’ll get the clear picture when the company publishes the report after the end of the fourth quarter.
The company has reported that its operating profit has reached 7.7 trillion won (approximately $6.4 billion) in the July-to-September period, down 56.2 percent from a year ago in its preliminary earnings guidance. Its revenue dropped 5.3 percent to 62 trillion won during the same period. However, the full numbers will be released later this month.
Samsung’s quarter-on-quarter operating profit rose by 16.7 percent while the company’s revenue increased by 10.5 percent, thanks to the rising demand for Samsung’s smartphones in the global market. This is mainly being attributed to the ban on Chinese giant Huawei in the United States.
As per the analysts, the earnings of the South Korean giant will improve in the fourth quarter as well as the next year, mainly because of the recovery in DRAM and NAND memory chips. Shares of Samsung Electronics were trading at 48,400 won during morning trading, up by 1.36 percent, mainly because of better-than-expected earnings.
While the company has witnessed low demand for the memory chip business, its smartphone business may offset the losses, thanks to the strong demand of the Galaxy Note 10 lineup as well as the revamped low-range and mid-range smartphones with the new Galaxy A-series and Galaxy M-series.
Since Huawei has been put on “Entity List” by the United States, effectively banning the company, Samsung, which is the leading smartphone brand globally, has been widening the gap with Huawei Technologies, the second leading smartphone brand, especially in the emerging markets.
Coming to the mobile shipments, Samsung’s smartphone shipments in the central and eastern Europe soared 21 percent in the second quarter compared to a year ago, solidifying its leadership in the region, reports Counterpoint Technology Market Research.

Alongside the Fire HD 10 and Fire HD 10 Kids Edition, Amazon also announced a Kindle Kids Edition. The new Kindle is practically the 10th gen kindle with a year of FreeTime Unlimited for books aimed at kids and colorful cases designed to make the device appealing to kids.
The new device is expected to get kids to read rather than stare at the screen of their Fire 7 Kids Edition or Fire HD 10 Kids Edition. Since this is just for reading, there are no interruptions from apps, games, and videos.
With 1-year of FreeTime Unlimited which allows for up to four child profiles, kids will be able to access popular titles such as The Harry Potter series, Chronicles of Narnia, Artemis Fowl (which has a movie on the way), and The Boxcar Children.
Amazon says that those who already have a prepaid Freetime Unlimited subscription not included with a device or who are a monthly FreeTime Unlimited subscriber will have their active subscription canceled and will receive a pro-rata refund for the remaining period while their new 1-year free subscription will begin.
Parents will be able to set educational goals, monitor their kid’s reading progress for each book, and track achievements for each day on their phone. The Kindle has a Vocabulary Builder that will use words looked up in the built-in dictionary to create flashcards for kids to learn definitions and usage of words. There is also Word Wise which automatically shows short and simple definitions above difficult words so that the child can keep reading with fewer interruptions.
The Kindle Kids Editon has a 2-year worry-free guarantee which means Amazon will replace it if anything happens to it within that period.
The device has a 6” screen, 8GB of built-in storage for over a thousand books, and a battery life of up to 4 weeks on a single charge (30 minutes per day, wireless and Bluetooth off, and brightness set to 13). It will charge fully in 4 hours using a 5W charger. Audible AudioBook streaming over Bluetooth isn’t available but is said to be coming soon.
The Kindle itself is black but there are four (blue, pink, rainbow birds, and space station) covers you can choose. The Kindle Kids Edition is priced at $109.99 and will be released on October 30.
Gaming smartphones have become quite popular and now have their own small but growing category. The gaming smartphone category can be classified into two. There are the flagships such as the ASUS ROG II, Black Shark 2 Pro, Nubia Red Magic 3S and Razer Phone 2. There are also mid-range gaming smartphones such as the Redmi Note 8 Pro.
There will be more gaming phones as time goes on and Google wants to make sure that these devices are powerful enough and “behave in a predictable way” for game developers. Hence the development of a Game Device Certification program.
The guys at XDA-Developers were able to get a copy of the latest version of Google’s GMS (Google Mobile Suites) Requirements for OEMs and ODMs which lists the requirements smartphone manufacturers must meet before being allowed to install GMS on their devices. It was discovered that the document now has a new section titled “Gaming Device Certification”.
The document rivals that for a device to have the Gaming Device Certification then it must meet a number of requirements. Below are some of the requirements:
Predictable Performance: Devices that are certified need to behave in a predictable way so that developers don’t face occurrences such as throttling, loss of CPU cores, and other unusual system behaviors.
Correct and high-performance GPU behavior: Certified devices are required to have modern and up to date high-performance GPUs and display APIs and enable reasonable frame introspection.
Memory behavior and requirements: Certified devices must provide access to memory in a predictable way. Games should be able to allocate reasonable amounts of memory and not have their processes unexpectedly killed. Certified Devices must allow a minimum of 2300MB of memory to be allocated before the lowmemorykilller kills the process.
Also, the device must support Vulkan 1.1 and pass the newest version of dEQP.
Google seems to have already set up a team that will handle this judging by a job listing a few months ago for a Developer Relations Manager for Android Game Device Certification.
The job responsibilities listed include the hiring and managing of the game device certification team, working closely with Android Certification teams, working closely with OEMs and SOC Vendors to drive standardization and define requirements, and working closely with game developers to understand their needs and create tests that validate the requirements.
There is no device at the moment that has received the Game Device Certification since Google has not even officially unveiled the program. It is believed that when Google eventually does announce it, it will also release a continually updated list of certified devices just like it does for Android Enterprise Recommended devices.

The leaked poster also confirms that the device will pack a quad camera setup at the rear. The four sensors are arranged vertically at the top left corner of the back panel.
The Realme X2 Pro is expected to feature a 6.55-inch full HD display with support for Bluetooth 5.0 and dual-band Wi-Fi connectivity. The device will also run on ColorOS 6.0. The Chinese authority commenced the issuance of 5G licenses in June this year. Presently, there are up to eleven 5G phones from different OEMs in China. The growth is expected to increase next year as more 5G phones and base stations sprout. China is expected to achieve the record of hosting the world’s largest 5G network.
In all this, the biggest winner will likely be Huawei as the tech giant is expected to corner 50% of the domestic 5G mobile phone share in 2020, according to a report by Chinese website Express Technology. The report reveals that Huawei is actively deploying 5G products, including 5G base stations, communication equipment, smart phones and servers, especially 5G smart phones. It is estimated that 50% of the domestic 5G mobile phone market will be taken by Huawei in 2020.
In addition, the server field is also a major focus of Huawei. Currently, Huawei ranks second in the domestic market with a market share of 17% to 19%. Due to the pressure from the United States, Huawei intends to exclude US manufacturers in the 5G supply chain, focusing on supporting non-US companies . In this process, TSMC and other companies will also benefit. TSMC’s advanced semiconductor process technology will be used by various OEMs on products like 5G procssor including Huawei’s Kirin series as well as on Quaalcomm chips and other products. TSMC has already been forced to speed up its 5nm manufacturing process by 5G demands. In 2020, TSMC’s performance in 5G is expected to account for 13% of its total revenue.

Samsung Electronics Vice-Chairman Lee Jae-yong arrived in India on Sunday sparking conjectures that the South Korean giant could invest further in the country to broaden its presence in the world’s second-largest smartphone market.
Lee arrived on Sunday and was briefed by Samsung Electronics officials in Mumbai over the company’s mobile business there, according to the sources. It is believed to be Lee’s first visit to India since March.
Industry sources speculated that Lee could hold a meeting with Mukesh Ambani, the chief of India’s leading conglomerate Reliance Industries, during his India visit. Lee is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani this week, reports Yonhap news agency.
Samsung is one of the equipment suppliers for Reliance Jio’s 4G network business. With the Indian telecom firm planning to establish a 5G network in the country, industry observers speculate that the two moguls may consult on the issue if there is a meeting. Chances are, there will be some interesting news to come out of this when it eventually happens.
Outside of 4G networking, the company has also been a big player in the Indian mobile space for a long time. In July last year, Samsung India set up one of the world’s largest mobile manufacturing facilities in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. PM Modi and South Korean President Moon Jae-in inaugurated the 35-acre Samsung Electronics facility.
Folks in Singapore will soon be able to purchase Huawei’s latest flagship Huawei Mate 30 Pro, though there are a surprising slew of caveats involved in the process.
First off, there’re only a limited number of Mate 30 Pros available — only 200 customers will be chosen to be part of an exclusive group who’ll be able to test out and purchase the phone in a private event. And if you do want to be one of the lucky few invited, you’ll have to first register your interest for the Mate 30 Pro on the Huawei website before Oct 16.
This variant of the Mate 30 Pro comes with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It will be available in Black and Space Silver, at a retail price of S$1298. Huawei said the Mate 30 Pro is an “exclusive model” with limited quantities in the region, and only 200 people will be selected at random to purchase the device at a private event this month.
Anyone who buys a Mate 30 Pro during these events are entitled to a bunch accessories worth S$463. These consist of the DJI Osmo Mobile 3 Combo, a wireless car charger, a phone case and a power bank. The phone will also come with services, such as door-to-door repair pick-up and delivery for a year, two-year warranty, and a free screen replacement within the first three months of purchase.
If you can get past the fact that you won’t be able to use Google apps and services (though the loophole suddenly reopened again), then the Huawei Mate 30 Pro is one of the best devices currently available on the market.
