Honor is entering into the TV market but it doesn’t want you to call it a TV but a smart screen because this is a display for much more than watching your favorite shows.
The Huawei sub-brand had a media briefing last week where it revealed a few details about the smart screen. Zhao Ming, who is the president of the company said at the event that the Honor Smart Screen is the “future of TV” and it will perform multiple functions including providing entertainment, serving as an information center, and a control hub, etc.
New info has surfaced today about the Honor Smart Screen. A report by local Chinese media said they have been informed by trusted sources that the Honor Smart Screen will have a camera.
This doesn’t come as much of a surprise since the device will be performing several functions including serving as a communications hub. The camera will certainly come in handy for video calls but may have other nifty tricks too.
We can’t wait to see what the Honor smart screen can do. There is no release date yet but the head of Honor India said it will launch soon in India (of course after its China debut).

Recently, at the Honor 9X launch event in China, the company also launched the Honor Band 5 fitness tracker. It was launched in two variants — a Standaard one and another with NFC support.
The standard Honor Band 5 went on sale in China yesterday for a price of 189 yuan (~$28) and today the Chinese company has announced that the device has been sold out. It also revealed that the next sale for the fitness tracker will take place on 29th July. The NFC version of the Honor Band 5 will also go on sale for the first time on July 29.
Coming to the specifications, the Honor Band 5 comes with a 0.95-inch AMOLED color display with 282 PPI and 2.5D glass on top. It features a number of new dials to match the different needs of the user.
What’s really the highlight of the new smart band is the blood oxygen level sensor. It can measure your blood SpO2 levels, indicating the level of oxygen in your blood. This is a game-changing feature for a smart band that costs less than $30, clearly giving it an edge over Xiaomi’s Mi Band 4.
Other features include 24×7 heart rate monitoring sensor, sleep monitor with the ability to detect six different types of sleeping problems, and 10 different sports modes that include indoor and outdoor running, cycling, swimming, and a few other cardio activities. It is also waterproof up to 50 meters, allowing users to wear the device even while swimming to track calories.
It also comes with features like remote camera capture, smart reminders, find your phone, etc are also available on the wearable. As for the battery life, it lasts for around 14 days on a single charge. That’s less than what Mi Band 4 offers but with a SpO2 sensor on board, it feels like decent battery life.
The standard version will be up for sale in China later today while the NFC version goes on sale on July 29 on Vmall and other online retailers. The band will be made available in three colors, black, blue, and light pink.
Huawei is all set to launch its first 5G smartphone, Huawei Mate 20 X 5G in its home country China later this week on 26th July. Now, it’s sub-brand Honor has also confirmed working on a 5G smartphone.

He also revealed that the smartphone will be officially launched in the fourth quarter of this year, i.e. Q4 2019. Praising its own upcoming smartphone, he added that the phone will lead the market in terms of design and performance in the 5G era.
Earlier, Zhao Ming had said that 2019 is China’s year for 5G technology and Honor 5G smartphone will soon be unveiled. He added that the phone launching in the fourth quarter this year will support both SA and NSA networks.
As per the reports, the upcoming Honor 5G smartphone could come equipped with the company’s own Balong 500 5G chip which supports 5G multi-mode terminal. It is also touted to be the world’s first single-core and multi-mode 5G baseband. Along with SA and NSA networks, it also comes with support for 4G, 3G, and 2G networks.
From the way that the company’s officials are teasing this upcoming smartphone and the information coming up, it seems that the Honor 5G smartphone is something worth looking forward to. We hope to get more information about this phone in the coming weeks.
Numerous entry-level smartphones are waiting in the pipeline to go offlcial in the next few months. The latest round of inputs has just arrived from the official website of Android Enterprise, revealing a few key features of three upcoming devices. The smartphones in question here are the Samsung Galaxy A10s, the Motorola Moto E6 and the LG X2 (2019).
Samsung Galaxy A10s Specifications and Features
According to Android Enterprise listing, the Samsung Galaxy A10s gets a 6.2-inch HD+ Infinity-V display similar to the Galaxy A10 that was announced earlier this year. It is powered by a 2.0GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P22 chipset with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of native storage. The smartphone gets a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The One UI based Android 9 Pie OS runs on the device.
Samsung Galaxy A10s
Recent reports have revealed that the highlight of the Galaxy A10s is said to be its rear-facing dual camera setup. The primary lens is a 13-megapixel unit with an aperture rating of f/1.8, along with a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The 8-megapixel front camera is rumored to be tucked inside the waterdrop notch. The Galaxy A10s draws power from a 4,000 mAh battery.
The Moto E6 gets a 5.5-inch HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. This is a huge disappointment since the Moto E5 got a 5.7-inch screen. The Moto E6 shares a similar design language as its predecessor, with huge bezels on three sides and a chinThe E6 will be available in two variants, 2GB of RAM + 16GB/32GB of internal storage. Xiaomi is now a key player in the TV market in China. In fact, according to three different institutions, Xiaomi was the number one TV manufacturer in China in terms of sales and shipments in the first half of 2019. Now, Lu Weibing, head of Redmi, reveals the brand’s possible interest in the TV industry.
Lu Weibing congratulated CEO Lei Jun after Xiaomi topped the TV industry in H1 2019. In addition to that, he asked his followers on Weibo, “Do you want Redmi to make a TV?”.
After Redmi split off from its parent Xiaomi earlier this year, the brand has focused its energy on a number of products apart from smartphones. In fact, in most segments, the recently released Redmi products compete with Xiaomi too. We have already seen headphones, powerbanks, notebooks, luggages, and even a washing machine from the brand. It’s clear that Redmi wants to diversify its portfolio of products and a new Redmi TV could be a good addition to its existing product lineup.
Redmi even has a washing machine in its portfolio of products
Redmi’s recent smartphone releases have also been pretty aggressive. The Redmi K20 series offers tremendous value for its money, featuring the flagship Qualcomm chipset, Snapdragon 855. Further, it has already managed to sell more than 10 million Redmi Note 7 smartphones in India as well as internationally. For a brand that’s doing so well, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Redmi enter an industry where Xiaomi has done wonders in the past few years.
Unfortunately, Redmi is yet to officially confirm that it’s working on a TV product. So, we’ll have to wait for more details before we get too excited.
On Tuesday, Huawei India confirmed through a press release that it has entered a partnership with India-based Micromax Informatics. The new partnership will allow Huawei to bolster its offline presence in India Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has been selling its smartphones in India since few years, but Huawei entered the Indian market last year.
Huawei India Consumer Business Group Vice-President Rishi Kishor Gupta confirmed to IANS that the company’s Indian wing has partnered with Micromax to launch its smartphones at multi-brand outlets in the country. As far as Honor phones are concerned, it will continue to sell exclusively through online channels. Huawei India Consumer Business Group Head said that company aims to focus on building a robust offline market to cater consumers in urban and rural areas of the country.
While various smartphones like Xiaomi, Samsung, OnePlus have grown their business by focusing on online markets, they are also building offline presence since India has a huge offline market. It is estimated that 70 percent of phone sales are conducted through offline stores.
In 2018, Huawei had partnered with Croma to concentrate for offline sales and later it had also entered a pact with Poorvika Mobiles that has a large chain of stores in South India. By working with Micromax, Huawei India aims to expand its offline presence through a phased plan. The first phase will include major cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Kochi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Dehradun, Kolkata and Jaipur.
Micromax Informatics, Head of Marketing Deepti Mehra said the company will continue to sell Micromax phones in Micromax brands stores and Huawei will be capitalizing the distribution and retail network. The partnership won’t cannibalize the sales of Micromax handsets because it mainly sells mid-range phones whereas Huawei’s targeted audience are premium phone users.
In April, Huawei India had introduced Huawei P30 Pro flagship phone with Rs. 71,990 (~$1,040) price tag and Huawei P30 Lite upper mid-range phone with a starting price tag of Rs. 19,990 (~$289). The handset is available for purchase through Amazon India as well as Croma stores.
After the recent launch of the Honor 9X, Honor president George Zhao accepted an exclusive interview with some media interviewers. Of the questions asked, one particular question was particularly interesting, where the interviewer asked whether we’d see anymore Max and Note devices in the future. According to George Zhao, it’s definitely possible.
He claims that while the Max and Note devices aren’t exactly their typical type of devices, the market for larger devices like these is also relatively stable. They don’t want to consistently keep releasing larger devices into the market every year however because as stable as the market is, it’s still a fairly limited and niche market. Thus, they’ve been spacing out the launches of big devices to keep things from becoming oversaturated.
He goes on to reassure fans of the Honor Max and Note series that both these lines won’t be cut off anytime soon. The only changes are their update frequency, and there will definitely be device for both product lines in the future. This is actually nice to hear after the recent news of Xiaomi killing off their Mi Max and Mi Note product lines.
What this means for us is that there will probably be a span of at least 1 – 2 years between each Honor Max and Honor Note device, which honestly isn’t too bad. It might actually be a bit refreshing compared to the current climate where devices get replaces mere months after launch. This allows for bigger changes to be made between iterations, and gives better incentive to upgrade to a new model when it eventually launches.

A popular Weibo blogger recently shared an interesting piece of information about Li Nan in the WeChat group. Apparently Meizu has had plans to release a full screen device since 2017, but the idea and product never came to fruition. To this end, we’ve actually got some sketches that show early concepts for a bezeless device from Meizu.
The photo of the design sketch shared by Li Nan was taken on November 12, 2017 in Xiangzhou District, Zhuhai City. It shows the concept design of three different takes on full screen devices. They’re very rough takes, but they get the idea of a bezeless device across. We also get a thickness of 8mm on these, and a possible price of 3299 yuan.
According to the blogger who broke the news, the device was going to be called the Blue Charm Zero, but the idea was unfortunately cut early. It’s a shame, because according to Li Nan, Meizu had the idea for pop-up cameras long before Vivo, and they simply didn’t act on it. If they had, it’s fully possible the current smartphone landscape could look very different.
Unfortunately, it seems like Meizu’s slowing down steadily recently, and they haven’t got much to show for it. Just a couple of days ago Meizu’s system engineer, Hong Hansheng, left the company, and before that we also had Li Nan leave. As of right now, the company has yet to make any big announcements, though we hope we hear something from them soon.

Samsung is reportedly working on two smartwatches under its Galaxy lineup — Galaxy Watch 2 with codename Renaissance and Galaxy Watch Active2. While the pictures of the Galaxy Watch Active2 were leaked earlier, now some of the device’s specs and features have surfaced online.
Samsung’s smartwatches have this attractive rotating bezel for navigation but the South Korean giant ditched it with the launch of Galaxy Watch Active earlier this year. But if the latest reports are to be believed, then Samsung will bring a similar feature with its successor — Galaxy Watch Active2.
As per the report from SamMobile, the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 will use a touch sensor around the bezel of the display to simulate that rotating bezel. When the user slides his/her finger around the screen, the software would accept the input just like the physical rotating bezel used to.
Along with this, some specifications of this upcoming wearable device have also leaked online. The report adds that the Galaxy Watch Active2 will come in two models — 44mm and 40mm. The 44mm Active2 will have a 1.4-inch display while the 40mm variant will see a 1.2-inch display. Both the devices will come with 360×360 AMOLED panels with DX+ glass. It also adds that the case will be built to MIL-STD-810G durability standards.
There will be two models based on the connectivity options — Bluetooth and LTE which will apparently have 768MB and 1.5GB of RAM respectively. Also, it will be the company’s first smartwatch to have support for Bluetooth 5.0, which should consume less power along with having improved range.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active2 will be available in Stainless Steel and Aluminium finishes for both sizes and will come in Black and Silver color options. Also, Pink Gold color will be offered for the 44mm and 40mm in Aluminium while Gold will be available for both sizes in Stainless Steel.
Earlier this year, during the Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona, Spain, Huawei announced the Balong 5000 5G modem as well as the Huawei 5G CPE Pro router. Now, the device is available for reservation in China through JD.com but the pricing details of the same have not been revealed yet.
The Huawei 5H CPE Pro router is powered by the company’s own Balong 5000 chip which supports Sub6G full-band coverage. The device was awarded China’s first 5G wireless data terminal communications equipment license on 10th July, making it the first router in China to support 5G all-net communication.
The router is designed for home as well as medium-sized enterprises to provide high-quality broadband access. With Wi-Fi 6 technology, it can achieve up to 4.8 Gbps speeds as it supports 4G and 5G networks.
As per the company’s claims, it can download 1 GB HD video file in just 3 seconds through 5G. Also, it is the first CPE router from the company to support HiLink, a smart home interconnection platform developed by Huawei.
It comes with dual-height thermal fins and fluid mechanics design, which improves the Huawei 5G CPE Pro’s thermal efficiency by 30 percent, reducing its volume by 45 percent and offers 5G peak performance by 60 percent compared to the previous generation.
Huawei has shared a new promo video on Weibo. It reveals that it will be launching the Nova 5i Pro smartphone on July 26. The Chinese manufacturer has started the pre-sale of the Nova 5i Pro smartphone ahead of the Friday launch.
The Huawei Nova 5, Nova 5 Pro and Nova 5i smartphones were made official in June. Before the launch of these smartphones, the rumor mill had also speculated that the company will be debuting another phone called Nova 5i Pro. The moniker of the phone suggested that it would be an advanced version of the Nova 5i phone. The Chinese manufacturer has today confirmed on the arrival of the Nova 5i Pro smartphone by releasing its first promo video.
The video reveals that the phone is equipped with a display that features a punch-hole for the 32-megapixel selfie snapper. The rear side of the phone has a quad camera system that includes a 48-megapixel primary lens. The Kirin 810 chipset is present under the hood of the device. The launch event for the smartphone will be held at 16:08PM on July 26. On the very same day, the Chinese firm will be launching the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G too as its first 5G-enabled smartphone.
The Huawei Nova 5i Pro has already appeared on TENAA with full specifications. Its listing has revealed that the phone measures 156.1 x 73.9 x 8.3mm and it weighs 178 grams. It may release in color editions like Magic Night Black, Emerald Green and Aurora. The handset houses a 6.26-inch IPS LCD punch-hole display that offers full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels.
The Nova 5i Pro features a 4,000mAh that carries support for rapid charging. The handset may release in two variants such as 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage. The Android 9 Pie OS customized with the latest version of EMUI 9 will come preloaded on the device. The 48-megapixel quad camera system of the Nova 5i Pro will have an 8-megapixel secondary lens, a third sensor of 2-megapixel and an another 2-megapixel lens. The handset is equipped with support for additional storage through microSD card. A fingerprint sensor is also available on the rear side of the smartphone. The Nova 5i Pro is expected to release in certain markets as Mate 30 Lite.
The Huawei Mate 30 Pro is not expected to launch until 3 months time but a new leak has revealed what the phone looks like. The new leak is a set of live photos posted by Ice Universe (original source now deleted) that show us the Mate 30 Pro ahead of its release.
In the photos, we see the Mate 30 Pro alongside some other devices. There are actually two units of the phone in the images and both are in a case that hides their rear design but which give us a good look at the screen which is said to be called a “Waterfall Display”.

The Mate 30 Pro’s display is curved on both sides so there practically aren’t side bezels. The top of the display is home to a notch – a long but narrow notch that packs the front-facing camera and a bunch of sensors. A previous leak showed the phone’s screen protector and there are a plethora of sensors, some of which should be for a highly secure face identification system.
The images also show the phone has a pretty thin chin which should contribute to a higher screen ratio.

The Huawei Mate 30 Pro should launch in October and be the first to be powered by the yet-to-be-announced Kirin 985 processor. It is reported to have a 6.71-inch QHD+ screen which draws power from a 4200mAh battery. It is also said to support 55W fast charging which is much faster than the upcoming Galaxy Note10 Plus’ 45W fast charging.
The Mate 30 Pro will have a quad-camera setup on the rear and will launch alongside a non-pro model. There will also be a Mate 30 Lite which has already been certified by TENAA and should launch soon.

Design
All of these devices feature a full bezel-less design with a pop-up camera on the upper part. So they all have narrow bezels and notch-less displays. But even though it is hard to recognize from the images, there are important differences between the aesthetics of these devices. They are not all built with the same materials. The Redmi K20 looks like the most premium device as it rocks a rear glass as well as an aluminum frame. It is even a more compact device than its opponents, so it fits better in a pocket and it is more comfortable to use with one single hand. Just like the Realme X (and unlike the Honor 9X) it even has an in-display fingerprint reader.
Display
Redmi K20 and Realme X have a more brilliant display as they both come with an AMOLED panel, while the Honor 9X has a classic IPS display. If I had to choose between the Redmi K20 and the Realme X, I would go for the first because it is HDR-compliant, so it is able to show richer and more realistic colors, especially with multimedia content. Note that while Redmi K20 and Realme X have an in-display fingerprint reader, Honor 9X has a side-mounted scanner in order to keep the rear design clean and attractive just like its rivals.
Specs & Software
Here it is a very close fight because the chipsets found on these handsets come with very similar performances. But there is a chipset in this trio which is slightly more powerful than both its rivals: we are talking about the Snapdragon 730 inside the Redmi K20. There is no Qualcomm’s chipset better than this if we exclude the Snapdragon 800 series. And it has a really amazing GPU, so it is very nice at gaming. Further, the Redmi K20 comes in the most powerful memory configuration with up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage. In each case, there is a customized Android user interface on board.
Camera
It may sound weird given that its price tag is similar to the ones of its rivals, but Redmi K20 wins even the camera comparison. It has one more camera than its opponents: a useful ultrawide sensor with a 13 MP resolution. Further, it has a telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and a main 48 MP Sony sensor which captures a lot of light even in low light conditions. The Redmi K20 even has a higher 20 MP resolution for its selfie snapper.
Battery
The presence of a bigger battery and a smaller AMOLED display lets Honor 9X win even the battery life comparison. In most of the scenarios, it lasts more than both its rivals. But they still come with amazing battery life.
Price
Redmi K20 starts from about €260/$290, Realme X has a €160/$178 base price, and Honor 9X starts from €180/$200. We recommend you to spend a bit more and get a Redmi K20 because it is definitely the most powerful mid-ranger of this trio and it overclasses its opponents in almost every specification.
