Last week, Xiaomi began rolling out an update to the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The update which arrives as MIUI 10.2.8.0 for the Indian version of the phone brings a security update and fixes an issue with the notification.
The OTA update is a little over 300MB in size and brings March 2019’s security patch. It is not the latest though. The changelog says it also fixes the issue with the call time bubble overlapping with the notification icons.
The Redmi Note 7 Pro is sold in India and China. It has a 6.3-inch waterdrop FHD+ display and is powered by the Snapdragon 675 processor. It has a 48MP primary camera paired with a 5MP secondary sensor for capturing depth details. There is also a 13MP selfie camera nestled inside the notch.
Last year, Huawei’s Hisilicon managed to beat everyone else to release the world’s first 7nm SoC, the Kirin 980. It looks like the company will continue the trend of releasing its new-gen chip before others, with its Kirin 985 slated to go into mass production in Q2 2019.
The report from Commerical Times (via Digitimes) states that TSMC is readying its 7nm EUV (Extreme Ultraviolet Lithography) process technology, dubbed as the N7+, for the mass production of Hisilicon’s new generation Kirin 985. Despite the issues associated with developing EUV, it will make the manufacturing process at 7nm, cheaper and faster.
Soon after kicking off volume production of Kirin 985, TSMC will start manufacturing Apple’s A13 chipsets by the end of Q2 2019. The Cupertino giant’s chipset will be based on a slightly different technology, dubbed as the N7 Pro. All we know about the ‘Pro’ process is that it’s an enhanced version of the N7+.
This news is in line with a previous report which mentioned 7nm EUV process for Kirin 985. Since the new tech will speed up the manufacturing process of the chipset, Huawei should be able to ship more smartphones with this flagship processor inside. It’s important for the company to ensure a steady supply of its top-end smartphones since it aims to ship over 250 million units by the end of 2019.
Benchmarking outfit Master Lu has given us quite a number of insights concerning how smartphones stand against each other. We had reported on the ranking of smartphones based on their performance, taking into considerations key parameters like RAM size, chipset type, storage size, processor speed etc. Xiaomi’s Black Shark2 gaming phone stole the show in that ranking. Master LU also published a ranking of smartphone processors with Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 855 emerging as the overall best chipset around.
Master LU has now released a ranking of smartphones based on their running temperatures with such details as high and low temperatures, as well as daily high and low temperatures. The ranking covers phones that run through the app between January 1 and March 31. The temperature values come from the average temperature recorded by mobile phones that have run through the Master Lu Android APP. The data excludes models with sample quantity below 1000. It is also screened for abnormal data and robots.
The phone with the highest load temperature is OPPO Find X which can reach 38.35 °C on average, followed by Nokia X7 2018, Smartisan Nut Pro 2 Special Edition, Sony Xperia XZ2, Black Shark Helo Game Phone, all of which are flagships or high-end models. The Nokia 6 also reached 35.77 ° C.
Among the top ten phones with “high” running temperatures, there are three Nokia models; Nokia X7 2018, Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 6, which is the highest from any OEM. However, we must point out that the temperatures are not too high, as they are below 40%.
On the other hand, the top 10 phones with the lowest average running temperatures have the VivoY81s on top with an average temperature of 26.69°C. Other models include the OPPO A5 with a running temperature of 26.95°C, Vivo iQOO 28.07°C, Huawei Enjoy 9 Plus, OPPO R17 etc.
There is also a ranking of phones based on their average daily temperatures (24 hours). The Redmi Note 6X Hatsune Miku Limited Edition comes with the highest temperature of 35.21 ℃. OPPO Find X also has a “high” daily temperature of 33.96℃ to rank in the second place. The Nokia 7 Plus with a 31.12°C rank as the third. For the coolest daily running temperature model, the Vivo Y81s retains the number one spot for having the lowest daily (24-hour) running temperature. The temperature is only 23.24°C.
Last week, Amazon India had carried out “Fab Phones Fest Sale” between April 11 and 13. During the sale various popular phones such as Apple iPhone XR, OnePlus 6T and Vivo V15 Pro were selling at reduced prices. The shopping festival is now over, but the OnePlus 6T phone is still selling with reduced price tag of Rs. 34,999 on the retailer site. It remains to be seen whether the smartphone will continue to sell with Rs. 4,000 discount ahead of the rumored May 14 global launch date of OnePlus 7.
On Amazon India, the OnePlus 6T models such as 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage are respectively selling for Rs. 34,999 (~$504), Rs. 37,999 (~$547) and Rs. 41,999 (~$605). At launch, these variants were respectively introduced with pricings such as Rs. 37,999 (~$547), Rs. 41,999 (~$605) and Rs. 45,999 (~$663).

There is no confirmation on whether the discount pricing of the OnePlus 6T on Amazon India is a permanent price cut or a temporary one that will continue until the stock lasts. Buyers who couldn’t purchase the OnePlus 6T at reduced price during the recent “Fab Phones Fest Sale” on Amazon India can still take advantage of the price cut.

The launch on Wednesday is in China but the Honor 20 series is sheduled to get a global release in London. Honor has released a poster for the event but wants you to use your arithmetic skills to figure out the date. Are you up to the task?
The Honor 20 series poster also hints at a key feature of the main device – the Honor 20 Pro. See how the figures for the date has just “4s”. We believe this is a hint for the quad cameras the phone is said to have.
The main camera is reported to be a Sony IMX600 sensor, the same one on the Huawei P30 Pro. However, the other three sensors are unknown.
Redmi has so far launched four smartphones — Redmi Note 7, Note 7 Pro, Redmi Go — an Android Go-powered smartphone, and Redmi 7. Now, the company is all set to launch its new smartphone.
The company’s upcoming smartphone with 32 MP front-facing camera sensor, which is expected to be named Redmi Y3, is all set to go official on 24th April in India. The company has even started sending out media invites for the same.
In the launch invite, the company confirms that the smartphone features a 32 MP camera sensor on the front side as it reads “32MP Super Selfie” but does not reveal any other information related to the phone.
But, Amazon India has made a landing page for the smartphone, hinting that the phone could be sold exclusively via Amazon.in. It further mentions that the phone packs Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset and will offer two-day battery life.
The Y-series is Redmi’s lineup for the selfie-centric smartphones. So far, the company has launched two smartphones in this series — Redmi Y and Redmi Y2. While not yet confirmed, it’s likely that the upcoming 32MP camera phone is the Redmi Y3.

When Nubia’s dual-screen phone, the Nubia X launched last year, Android Pie was already available but the phone launched with Android 8.1 Oreo instead. Nubia has now released an Android P beta update for the device.
The Nubia P update comes as Nubia JOS (not Nubia UI), which is specially designed for the dual-screen phone. The update is not available as an OTA and has to be manually downloaded on to your device.
The changelog for the device says overall system performance and system stability have been optimized. It also says the security patch has been updated but doesn’t say the month. There are also some fixes for third-party apps like King of Glory.
Nubia says you will be able to roll back to a stable version but you will have to back up your data first as rolling back will wipe the phone. You also have to disable root access if you have it activated before updating to Android P beta.
The update is 2.6GB in size and can be downloaded here. We advise you to check official Nubia forums to find out more about the update and read feedback from users.

In the launch event of Huawei P30 series last months, there are a bulk of accessories released, and Huawei FreeLace Wireless Earphones were one of them. They are so attractive, and the reason is that they are so matched with Huawei P30 series. After a week of experience, we have a deeper understanding of the Huawei FreeLace. Now, let’s check out the review of the latest wireless earphones.
Design
Huawei FreeLace offers four colors for costumers to choose, such as Graphite Black, Amber Sunrise, Emerald Green and Moonlight Silver, and I got the Graphite Black variant to experience.
There are two durable control panels made of anodized aluminum alloy on both sides. On the non-detachable side, there is a Logo of ‘HUAWEI’ on it and no buttons.
The power key, multi-function key and volume keys are placed on the other side which adopts detachable design. A Type-C connector is hiding in the control panel.
Long press the multi-function key for waking up the phone’s smart assistant or reject a call, one tap for play/pause music and answer/hang up the phone, double tap for next track, triple tap for previous track. It’s easy to use.
Usage
Huawei FreeLace Wireless Earphones connect to smartphones through Bluetooth. But Huawei develops a new technology called HUAWEI HiPair technology. The headphones have built-in Type-C plug with HUAWEI HiPair technology, once plugged in the phone, the Huawei FreeLace can be paired at once. It only takes a few seconds, which is very convenient. But the technology just supports some of Huawei smartphones coming with EMUI9.1 and above version.
Performance
Huawei FreeLace adopts canalphones design, which is comfortable to wear. They don’t fall out when shaking violently, so it’s suitable for those who like doing sports.
The material of Huawei FreeLace is nickel-titanium alloy and liquid silicon, which can be easily coiled up to take it out.
The Huawei FreeLace comes with built-in Hall magnetic sensor which can detect whether the earphones are in use. When the earphones attach together, the Huawei FreeLace should disconnect with phone. When you detach them, it will reconnect the phone. I do love this design, which can play a role in saving electricity.
Huawei FreeLace Wireless Earphones ships with 9.2mm dynamic driver unit that enlarges the sound field, and the ultra-thin TPU diaphragm that has strong bass. Huawei FreeLace comes with Dual-channel Wind Noise Reduction and Bluetooth noise cancelling algorithm, which makes you have clearer calls.
The sound quality of Huawei FreeLace Wireless Earphones is outstanding at this price. In the high pitch, it performs balanced, and in the low pitch, it has strong power to shake. The Huawei FreeLace can give you stereo surround sound experience that gets you completely immersed in music.
The Huawei FreeLace is fueled by 120mAh battery, which can play the music for 18 hours on full charge, or have phone calls for 13 hours. What’s more, the earphones can stand by for 12 days keeping Bluetooth connection status.
In addition, you can plug in phones, tablets or PC, which support reverse charging, to charge the earphones by Type-C.
In this usage time, I always charge the FreeLace by Huawei P30 Pro. It can play for 4 hours with 5 minutes charging. It’s an innovative idea to solve the problem of Bluetooth earphones battery life.
Conclusion
There are many Bluetooth earphones in the market focusing on design, sound quality or the price performance. Huawei FreeLace carries self-developed HUAWEI HiPair technology showing their features, and makes them to be the best match of Huawei P30 series smartphone.

Recent reports had revealed that Vivo is planning to introduce a smartphone named Vivo V5 in India. However, a fresh report by 91mobiles that claims to have received information from retail chain sources has revealed that the Vivo Y5 will be launching as Vivo Y17 in the country. The publication has also shared a leaked poster of the phone to confirm its appearance.
The below poster reveals that the Vivo Y17 will be arriving in gradient blue color. However, it is difficult to determine from the image whether the phone is equipped with a glossy plastic or glass rear. The back panel features a vertically arranged triple camera setup followed by an LED flash. A fingerprint scanner is also available on the rear shell of the device.
The front side of the Vivo Y17 is mainly occupied with waterdrop-style notched display with slim bezels around it. The major selling points of the Y17 phone are AI triple rear cameras and fast charging. There is no confirmation on whether the phone is equipped with a USB-C port. The report has also claimed that its sources have revealed that the Vivo Y17 will be priced at Rs. 16,990. By this, the phone will be available as one of the cheapest triple rear camera phones in the country.
Previous reports have revealed that the same phone will be also releasing in China. The Vivo V1901A/T smartphone that was recently certified by TENAA telecom agency seems to be Vivo Y17. However, there is no confirmation on whether the smartphone will be launching with the same moniker in China.
Vivo Y17 Specifications (Rumored)
According to the TENAA listing of the phone, the Vivo V1901A/T smartphone will be housing a 6.35-inch display and it will be fueled by an octa-core processor that clocks at 2.3 GHz. Its Geekbench listing had revealed that the phone will be powered by Helio P35 SoC and 4 GB of RAM.
The Android 9 Pie OS will come preloaded on the device along with FunTouch OS UI. It will be available in China in 64 GB and 128 GB storage. Its triple camera setup will include 13-megapixel sensor along with an 8-megapixel secondary sensor and a 2-megapixel third lens. For shooting selfies, it will be featuring a front-facing camera of 16-megapixel. It will be packed with a gargantuan battery of 5,000mAh capacity.
There is no fresh information on the release date of the smartphone. A previous report had claimed that the phone will be unveiled in mid-April in India. Since it is already mid-April now, the launch of the phone could be around the corner.
After the Huawei P30 series launch on April 11, the company immediately opened for pre-orders the same day via offline and online modes. Huawei registered tremendous sales and gathered around 200 million Yuan from maiden day sales. According to a report, Huawei P30 Pro touched sales of 82140 units whereas its younger sibling, P30 managed to hit 62245 units sales on JD.com.
The high-end specifications with the minimal price increase are the major reasons for better Huawei P30 Pro sales. Most of the customers are choosing Amber sunrise and Breathing crystal color options rather than the Basic black and Aurora deep blue. According to the data compiled until 7:40 am of April 14th, reveals the company is shipping more than 100000 units a day. A huge ascent can be seen in the increasing number of sales every day.
Huawei P30 is priced at 3,988 Yuan (~$595) for the model with 8GB RAM and 64GB of storage. The 8GB+128GB variant costs 4,288 yuan (~$639) while the 8+256GB variant is 4,788 yuan(~$713). The P30 Pro, on the other hand, is anywhere between CNY5,488(~$818) and CNY6,788(~$1012) on JD.com.

A triple rear camera module with a 40 MP primary camera + 16 MP camera + an 8MP camera is present with 3x optical zoom. On the front side, a 21 MP snapper is present for selfie and video calling.
On the other hand, Huawei P30 Pro features Quad camera module with an additional ToF depth sensor on the rear side. Increased display size, battery capacity, RAM and internal storage are part of the Huawei P30 Pro.
Realme, the smartphone brand that started operations last year, recently launched its third-generation smartphone — Realme 3. Now, the company is all set to launch the Pro variant of the same — Realme 3 Pro on 22nd April in India.
Ahead of the phone’s launch next week, the company has now confirmed that the smartphone will be available for purchase exclusively through online market Flipkart, just like the Realme 3.

The upcoming smartphone has appeared on Geekbench and confirmed that it will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 octa-core processor, coupled with 6GB of RAM. However, we expect the phone to come with 4GB RAM model as well.
In one result, the Realme 3 Pro scored 1,590 points in the single-core test and 5,823 points in the multi-core test. In the other, the device scored 1,483 and 5,900 points in the single-core and multi-core tests respectively. Compared to other Snapdragon 710 devices, the Realme 3 Pro’s single-core score is low.
While not much is officially revealed by the company, but Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth recently shared an image and confirmed that the phone will be able to run Fortnite directly, and also claimed it to be the first in its price range.
More recently, Madhav Sheth also shared an image sample of the upcoming smartphone taken during the night time. It shows the Shenzhen Concert Hall in China and the image output is quite impressive and it retains a lot of detail and has good color reproduction.
As mentioned, the smartphone is scheduled to go official in India on 22nd April and will soon go on sale. Given the phone’s specs and price range, it will directly compete against the Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro.

In February, Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing had confirmed that the company will be launching a Snapdragon 855 mobile platform driven flagship phone. It is expected to be one of the cheapest phones powered by the Snapdragon 855. Some rumors have even claimed that the phone may debut as Poco F2 outside of China. Last month, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun was spotted with the alleged Redmi SD855 smartphone. Today, Xiaomi’s Product Director, Wang Teng Thomas has an image which shows the same phone with Xiaomi co-founder and President, Lin Bin.
The new Weibo post that had shown the mysterious and unreleased Redmi phone placed on the table has been deleted. The image had revealed that the phone is equipped with a 3.5mm audio jack on its top which also seems to be housing a module with pop-up selfie camera. Hence, the smartphone could be equipped with a notch-less display. Earlier today, Lu Weibing had confirmed that the company’s flagship will indeed arrive with a 3.5mm audio jack.
The Chinese firm has been teasing the phone, but the identity of the phone is still under the wraps. Even the rumor mill is believing that it could be the Redmi’s Snapdragon 855 powered phone, it could also be some other Xiaomi/Redmi smartphone. As mentioned above, the Redmi SD855 phone is expected to deliver topnotch performance at affordable price.
Some rumors are claiming that the phone may go official in the coming month. There is no information available on the specifications of the smartphone. The new image that has surfaced today does not match with the purported Redmi phone with triple rear cameras, rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and punch-hole display that was recently seen in a leaked video. This indicates that these two devices are different smartphones.
Redmi has couple of other phones waiting in pipeline to get official. The Redmi S3 selfie centric phone is expected to go official in May in China. The same smartphone may release in some other markets including India as Redmi Y3. The company is also expected to announce other Redmi 7 series phones such as Redmi 7 Pro and Redmi 7A.
